We stopped at The Frosty on the way to Corpus Christi,Tx. We were super impressed with the atmosphere, the 50s decor, the music, the food and most of all the great service from the young staff. They were polite, patient and very friendly. We were also impressed that the place had been visited by Bucket List. Wow! We stopped midday on a recent road trip to this small town burger spot with 50s diner charm and friendly people. Just off the freeway a bit, this is a great place for a tasty meal, ice cream dessert or snack pleaser We enjoyed some fried pickles while we waited for our tortilla burgers ( we added avocado). The pickle chips and ranch dressing was good but a little too salty for my liking. The tortilla burger was a veggie loaded cheesy smashed beef burger in two fried tortillas. Greasy but good. Fall all apart but finger-lickability. With a side of hot fries, this filled us up quickly. But not too full to not partake in an ice cream shake for the road. Needless to say, we couldn't move for a good two hours but we felt great having a bucket list item checked and a satiated palate. read more

I learned a couple of lessons from this place. 1, look to order what the specialize in, and 2, seasoned food is a rarity. We actually tried going to a different place for bbq but they only had it on tues and sat, and today was mexican. We stopped into the Frosty 50s Diner and I couldnt be more glad that we didnt eat at the other place. First, every one working was a delight to talk to. I asked the gentleman what he recommended, and when he stepped from behind the counter and took a deep breath, I knew we were in the right place. His answer was that he recommended everything. As he ran down the list, he started with the #1, which is a tortilla burger. He was sure to make the disclaimer that he did not come up with the idea, then told us the story (an old dude who still lives there, his mom ran out of burger buns, improvised, and used tortillas. It became a hit and here we are). He then went into the specialty burgers on the menu. Foolishly wanting to be different, I ordered the fish platter. As I waited, everyone elses burgers came out. These werent basic burgers, they had egg, bacon, guac, and steak knives through them to keep them together. I was starting to regret my decision. After my neice proclaimed that it was the best she ever had, I knew I messed up and came to realization 1. After some persuading from my sis, I went back and ordered the tortilla burger. Listen. This burger was way better than I expected. This was the homemade burger you make for the family, with the twist of there being two tortillas. After bite two I came to realization 2. The burger had FLAVOR. The diced onions gave it twang, the cheese was cheesin, the tortilla have taco vibes but complimented the patty...it was GOOD. Only disclaimer I can give for the tortilla burger is that whenever you pick it up, you have to commit cause theres no putting it down, otherwise its gonna fall apart. read more

We drive by the sign for this place driving to and from Houston to McAllen all the time. Finally decided to stop and have lunch. I had a cheeseburger that was so fresh and delicious. My husband had the fried catfish that was cooked perfect and so tasty. We also go the steak fingers that are hand breaded to order with meat from the local butcher that's been around for 100 years. The steak fingers reminded me of home cooked meals of my youth. Everything was fantastic. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We loved the old school diner vibe! Oh my gosh! If you haven't tried The Frosty you really haven't eaten a fabulous hamburger or their fresh fried catfish burger or basket. Today we had the catfish basket and the filets were so hot you had to be careful on the first bite. Actually the fish stayed hot till the last bite! Me and my partner stoped here because we saw a sign down route 77 that said , " A Texas Bucket List Destination". When we arrived we decided to try the Frosty Burger Jr. The burgers were made fresh and the fries that went with were crispy. They weren't too small or too big. Had lunch here yesterday (May 29, 2025) girl at the counter was way over friendly, if that's possible. After picking myself up off the floor after seeing their prices, ordered a simple cheeseburger combo. It came with a very small portion of fries and a can of Dr. Pepper. I noted they used fresh meat and not frozen. Burger was good size, but all in all, it was not worth the $16.00 I paid. I'm not sure how the $14.00 combo changed to $16.00 when I paid. I added mustard, but was not told it was $2.00 more. If you're charging these prices, the value has to be there. Woodsboro is to small for these prices, so the passerby is your support. I frequent this area a lot and thought I'd try it. For the value and half the price I'll drive 4 miles down the road to Whataburger. I have to rate low as the value just isn't there for the price. read more

Walked in and a nice girl working the counter said she would be right with us. 1 car in the drive thru, and 1 table eating inside. We waited at the counter for at least 10 minutes, i read over the entire menu twice to kill time. Even though they werent busy, we waited for 10-15 mins watching the cooks and everyone ignore us. We left and went down the street to DQ. Ive eaten here for years, and the place looks nice after the new ownership & renovations, but obviously the service has declined. We probably wont be returning. Prices have also gone up, $17 for a double cheeseburger combo. Crazy!!! read more

Don't fall into the hype or convenience of fast food off main highway. This place is worth the exit. Owner took the time to check on us and THE FOOD!!! Forget about it. Home made and fresh off the grill. A real mom and pop, whole in the wall or more like hidden gem type of place. My husband couldn't stoping eating his chicken fried steak so I could take a picture. What an incredibly amazing surprise in what feels like the middle of nowhere. We live in Houston and take several trips a year down to the Rio Grande Valley where our parents reside. We decided to try something other than the fast food norm so we could get our kids out of the car for some time. We had the chicken fried steak, the ham and salami panini, fried pickles, and a kids grilled cheese. Oh my word- everything was so delicious! The panini was served on perfectly grilled Texas toast and has this amazing pesto mayo on it. My husband was a bit weirded out that I ordered that and ended up raving about it once we got in the car. Everything else was perfect as well, and the staff was friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. This place is a fabulous fifties type hamburger joint with lots of different choices besides just burgers! The avocado burger was delicious with fresh spinach and Swiss cheese. The place looks old and small from the outside but don't let that fool you. Once you walk in it's a small and quaint little 50's diner. The chicken and steak fingers basket was hot fresh and very tasty. We also had the blta and the bacon cheeseburger was flame broiled like off a charcoal grill. I was going to try the tortilla burger but I don't like mustard jalapeños or tomatoes or avocado so since that's half the burger I decided to stick to being simple.
