BLUF: Go check it out, you won't regret it. TLDR: OMG I'm so glad I stumbled upon this adorable coffee shop on cozy Main Street in North East, MD. It was just me, so I only got half a dozen donuts with a knife so I could taste them all! I tried: Cookies & Cream, Salted Caramel, Maple Bacon, Toasted Coconut, Chai, and Fluffernuter. Let me start by saying the cake part of these donuts is just perfect. Not too dense, lightly crisp on the outside, and insanely fresh. The toppings might sound over the top, but they weren't. They were perfectly subtle to add a hint of flavor without a dose of diabetes. And the coffee- such unique lattes both in name and flavors. I went with Davy Joey's Locker with an extra shot of espresso. So good. Not overly sweet and not bitter at all. And then I just had to try the cute little pistachio cannoli. Shell was filled upon ordering, so the shell was nice and crispy. Now this was super sweet, but I haven't met a cannoli yet that wasn't! Barista was friendly & bubbly and patient when it took me some time to pick my 6 donuts. Basic tables and chairs with some bench seating along the window. Pillows & chairs could use a refresh, as well as the bathroom, looking a bit worn & dingy, but that's literally the only negative thing about this place. read more

It was clear they were understaffed. I almost turned and left. The one employee working apologized at some point and said she sent her pregnant co-worker home because she was feeling ill. Despite being the only one to take orders, serve donuts and make coffee she got through the line pretty quickly. My drink was great too. Really cute, central spot that I've driven by a bunch of times and never took time to visit. Finally came on in for a coffee! The service was friendly, but the girl behind the counter was the only one there making at least 3 orders ahead of me with more people behind me. It was a bit of a wait which is fine but you can tell she was a bit overwhelmed. And to make the wait even longer feeling, it was dead silent in there haha. No music, just the sound of coffee prep. I chose a gingerbread latte with oat milk. The coffee tasted burnt and the syrup for the gingerbread was so heavy and extra artificial tasting. Probably won't be back for their coffee, but they do have a variety of donuts! May come back to try them one day. I stopped by about 50 minutes before closing this past Saturday for coffee since I was already in the area and wanted a latte. The interior is more of that rustic vibe and colors. The slight pirate theme vibe made it pretty homey and warm, too. There was only one barista working, and the chairs at the cafe were already stacked for the night. The espresso machine was already turned off. Fortunately, she pulled a few shots in advance in case customers stopped by. FRENCH VANILLA LATTE (12 OZ) - 3.94 I haven't seen a specialty latte sold for under 4.00 in a long time, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the more affordable prices here. The barista recommended this latte to me because I was looking for something not too sweet. It comes with French vanilla, maple, and brown sugar cane flavors. Indeed, the latte was not too sweet. On the menu, meat, egg, and cheese on bread breakfast sandwiches. Scrapple was a meat choice. Their award-winning donut was a bread choice. 75 cents extra for award award-winning donut. I had been a good boy, and I thought I deserved an award-winning donut breakfast sandwich. I got off the highway. I went to Chesapeake Coffee Co. I ordered a scrapple, egg, and cheese on award award-winning donut. The young girl looked at me blankly. The young woman behind her said, 'We don't do that anymore.' I took a cleansing breath and ordered it on the pretzel bun. Later, I looked at my receipt, and I was charged $1.20, not 75 cents. In for a penny, in for a pound. We saw this spot because we stopped off the highway to pick up some chocolates. I spotted the donut sign and immediately headed for the door. The service was slow and there were about 4 people who all seemed to be preoccupied around their coffee area/drink area. There was one person taking care of customers. We purchased 3 donuts for $4 and change. I had a blueberry donut and it was delicious, moist, tasty, and flavorful. Glad this place offers oat milk, but NOTHING in the food realm is safe for folks that either don't eat animal body parts or are dairy sensitive. That said, it's a cute little shop, heavy on pirate decor. When we stopped in on the morning of 3/10, the woman behind the counter was trying to make our drinks and some dude with a stupid MAGA hat on was behind the counter in the way, not doing any work but slowing her down by needing to stop her and show her his phone. For the past 2 years, I've been making a point to stop by when I'm in the area. Ever since I first experienced their "old-fashioned" donuts (my quotes, not theirs), I became a fan. There are some videos on CBCC's website that show how these traditional, cake-type donuts are created in small batches. The donuts look and taste the same all the time. It's the consistency that keeps me coming back. My fav is the plain (untopped), but the chocolate glazed is scrumptious too. These donuts remind me of childhood; few places make them like this anymore. Their breakfast sammies are pretty good too. The formstone building which houses this pirate-themed coffee & donut shop is kitsch and fun. It's easy to find on the main street of the town. read more

Great coffee and large variety of donuts! This is a spot you can't miss if you're in the area. They have various donuts, from a simple glazed to a maple bacon that will leave you wanting to come back the next day! (which we did, 3 days in a row) Their drink options are also great, they have various options of syrups to choose from, and some pre-made combinations that were also amazing. We also discovered on our last day of the trip that they offer breakfast sandwiches, although i believe that is only on weekends. The customer service is great, and the barista is very quick and kind! There are a couple of tables inside, although it does get crowded. I will say, the building isn't big enough to get work done and spend a long time inside so I wouldn't really recommend that based on the looks of it. Their donuts are good for cake donuts. Lots of fun flavors while still having some normal flavored donuts. Their coffee is pretty good, but not my absolute favorite. I got the salted caramel flavoring in it too. Aside from great coffee drinks, they have great breakfast sandwiches! The Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese on an everything bagel is my go to here as hardly anybody carries it in Maryland. It's well made and reminds me of back up in North Jersey! Staff is super friendly and accommodating. They also carry fresh made donuts of different varieties and offer cannolis that are filled to order like they should be. A nice little coffee shop in North East MD... the locals love the cake donuts here. The breakfast sammiches aren't anything to sleep on either, so this is a great breakfast spot. It's also one of those places that locals flock to, often lining up all the way out the door to order their treats. I love the pirate theme around the shop, with maps and calligraphy decorating the walls and a fake pirate sitting near the counter. On a recent ride along I-95 between Washington, DC and New Jersey, my roadtrip companion and I pulled off for fuel at the Flying J truck stop at Exit 100 and decided to find something for lunch. Driving a mile or two past the big box stores and franchise restaurants along Maryland Route 272, we found ourselves in the not-so-bustling downtown area of North East, Maryland. After lunch, we wandered through the quaint, small-town shopping district in search of a caffeine boost for the ride back to New Jersey and spotted the Jolly Roger flag flying from the pirate ship-themed playground equipment located adjacent to CBCC. The menu includes a wide variety of iced or hot coffee made from beans roasted in-house that are complemented by a ridiculously long list of syrups; homemade cake-style doughnuts with unique flavors like maple bacon, chocolate peanut butter, hot cocoa, or Fruity Pebbles; and freshly-made cannoli pastries filled with buttercream filling (in lieu of the traditional ricotta cheese filling). Gotta love the aesthetic of this coffee house with a full on pirate theme. Which I thought was cleaver and unique. Different types of coffees and if a cup of joe isn't your thing than there are other beverages. Plus many ranges of flavors/syrups that seems endless. Nice array of cake donuts on display. Had a nice little crisp on the exterior, but wish the inside was more soft. Tad bit dense to my liking, but still good. Deck out on the side by the entrance if you want to chill out. O was passing through to go to the Carolina's from Ohio. I stopped in to grab a coffee. my GPs was out of wack, so I asked the owner for some directions. He sent me on my way with a hand written map from a pastor in the mountains. the owner claimed I would not have any issues because fema wasn't around. I couldn't get around because roads were closed by FEMA. if I can't get simple directions, I can't trust you to make my coffee, which probably explains why the coffee wasn't cold. The coffee menu was a solid list of heavy-hitters. The coffees we got were the French Toast, Blackbeard, and Ship-faced Lattes. All were good. Don't overlook the cannoli. We had the Pistachio and the Cookies &Cream. They were really, really great. Some of the best cannoli I've ever had, and I've been to Italy.
