We needed to come back for a part 2. I told the hygienist, I would like to talk to the dentist to adjust the plan, to address my child's anxiety. A few days before the second part, no contact from the dentist and instead I received a call from a front desk person canceling the appointmeant, siting concerns it will hurt the relationship with my child. I spoke to the office manager, stating refusing care for a child, because they experienced fear, causes more trauma then completing the work and coming up with a patient centered plan. The final decision I was told, " we don't challenge the dentist's decision.'". I informed the PA that my child's take away, in the child's words is " I got scared and it's my fault they will not help me." upon hearing this, no one reached out to express concern about the damage that was done. No one would consider that their "practices" were out of date with what we know about patient center care. Since then, I found a new lovely practice they met with us, discussed the previous experience, developed a collaborative plan to address my child's fear and my child completed the treatment. My child likes the new dentist and trusts the new dentist.
