I had so much anxiety leading up to my toddler's first dental appointment. My son (2.5 yrs) is…read morestrong willed and has physical strength far beyond what his tiny frame projects. Brushing teeth in our household is comparable to a WWE match, with my husband and I tag teaming in holding down arms / legs while the other brushes. For the last year I've been scouting various pediatric dentists that were on our health insurance list ... I've called and made several appointments at various offices, only to read horror story reviews here on yelp, resulting in an immediate callback to cancel the appointment. Finally, I came across this 5-star review for PDA of Blue Bell. Today was our first appointment ... I'll start off by admitting that I called the office yesterday to try to reschedule the appointment, after my husband said he wouldn't be able to attend. The receptionist assured me that they were fully equipped to handle a "less than thrilled" two-year old. We arrived a few minutes early for our appointment and once my son realized we were at a doctor's office he walked right back to the exit and tried to leave (luckily, he couldn't reach the door handle). But, to his (and my) surprise, the waiting area had a full tree house with slide (so gorgeous that I now want one for our playroom) that occupied his time until we were called back. When it was time for our appointment, we walked back into a well-appointed and decorative (but not excessive) open room. The hygienist reviewed proper brushing techniques on a stuffed animal who had a full mouth of baby teeth (my son loved the stuffed animal). All the while, the hygienist was very sweet and patient w/ my son, even calling him lovebug! The hygienist showed us a great 2-person technique that allows parents to really get a good cleaning of all of the teeth and entire gum line. A quick check by the dentist revealed NO CAVITIES and we were even able to get the little guy to sit through a quick cleaning and fluoride treatment. The staff (receptionists, hygienists and doctor) were all AMAZINGLY patient, kind and informative. The office space was clean, bright, welcoming and kid-friendly (without being so kid-friendly that it would be a sane adult nauseous). Lastly, the appointment was on-time and quick (we were seen within 5 minutes of our appointment time and were in and out within 20 minutes). I've already recommended the office to my local mom friends who've also been dreading that first dental appointment for their tots!

Clear and concise with communicating all medical needs, potential issues, appointments, etc. Very affable, friendly, best bedside manners, etc. 2.) My four-year-old with sensory issues was shown what they were going to do, and how they would go about it, ie, tickle fingers with the polish thingy etc. It helped that big brother went first. They also had him sit in the X-ray chair with a bite wing afterwards just so he wouldn't be as potentially fearful for when he eventually does the actual bite wing X-rays. 3.) The main area for cleanings and checkups is open with an adjacent play area. Even the main counter in this area is child-height. 4.) They have a book to help peg which days your child will have off of school while scheduling that includes all the local school districts. 5.) Totally paper free. This means they respond to all text messages. 6.) The laughing gas is hella cheaper than what I was paying previously. No scary numbers in the 100s. 7.) Pimped out goodie/treat baskets. 8.) A UV light to negate germs that live in the hand drier. (It's built in.) 9.) A bigger than life light-bright type toy in one waiting area. 10.) A coffee/tea station with the good stuff (including stevia). 11.) TVs mounted overhead with all the program options a child could want. 12.) Parents are invited to be in the same room, even during fillings. I think that's about it :-)

Let me start by saying i REALLY liked this place. After 13 years without a dental visit- I came to…read morefresh smiles upon recommendation of a coworker, who had been going here for years. My initial visit went well- I provided my insurance information and was provided a treatment plan detailing my costs- perfect! I was informed I would need a deep cleaning- which would need to happen in 2 sessions. I went to my first appointment early december and paid the amount outlined in the treatment plan. Easy peasy. TWO weeks later, on the eve of my 2nd deep cleaning session (and less than 15 hours before my appointment)- I received an appointment confirmation call. At the end of the call the receptionist CASUALLY mentions something about my insurance not being in network anymore and how I would now need to pay $700+ out of pocket. Girl, how are you going to call someone and drop that bomb on them 5 days before christmas? Needless to say, I cancelled the appointment and emailed them to get a more detailed explanation. Except I never got one. Instead, I received the least professional response I've ever gotten (see attached). I do not blame fresh smiles for my insurance *seemingly nowhere within a 2 week time frame deciding their office was OON* however, i DO blame them for piss poor communication. So now i sit, dentistless with half my mouth cleaned. Please be warned that while this dentist office has some of THE sweetest hygienists, and a great atmosphere, the communication here is absolute garbage between patients and their front office. Please do better!

Our family of four and I have been very happy customers of The Schiff Dental Group since 2015…read more They came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Karen, Dr. Ali, Dr. Moniz, and Dr. Zurek have been professional, caring and competent, as has the office staff. Yesterday I received a bill for a service that was rendered in October 2020. This was the first bill that I received for the treatment and it had a $20 finance charge included. Prior to the new year, I had called the office to make an appointment for my husband and also asked about our bill since I had recently had dental surgery and was told there was no balance due. At that time, I commented that I was surprised and was told it may still be in process with the insurance company. The first bill I had in hand arrived yesterday. Today I called Schiff Dental office and explained that this was the first bill I received and that I would appreciate the removal of the finance charge. The bill is dated 1/1/21 but arrived yesterday. There were no prior bills received. I called in good conscience to review my bill and from the start I felt accused and attacked by the office manager. I tried to explain that with a pandemic and a postal service issues, I had not received a bill. She told me I knew I had $XXXX worth of service in October and since I knew, it should have been paid and I was responsible for the entire $XXXX. I advised that I will submit a payment of $XXXX today and follow up in my next pay period to pay in full. I was also told today that multiple attempts were made to contact me by phone, but after reviewing my phone records, I have received no calls from the Schiff Dental Office since the follow up call after the procedure in October. I have always been treated kindly and professionally by the office staff, but the office manager was difficult and accusatory. I called today with the intention of paying my bill today, but asked in good conscience to have the finance charge removed since it was the first bill that I received. Our call was frustrating and I struggled to discuss my issue because of the obstinate attitude. I have every intention of paying my bill and my appointment in October 2020 was scheduled to coincide with a lump sum deposit into my HSA at year end. The appointment timing was planned with that in mind and the funds remains in my account to pay for my procedure. I asked to please speak to a supervisor and was told that Dr. Schiff was her supervisor and there was "no way" that he would call me back. I advised that I would like to speak to someone else prior to sending my payment and the office manager stated that perhaps I should get a lawyer. I again reiterated that I want to pay my bill, but should not have been charged a finance charge. She stated that she is the office manager and that there is no other supervisor, adding it was her job to collect the bills and because that is her job, there was no way she would let Dr. Schiff know that she was not doing her job. I will reiterate that I fully intend to pay my bill and it was the finance charge that I was questioning, but my conversation with the office manager was so unlike any other conversation with anyone else at Schiff Dental Office and as a customer, I feel it's necessary to have a conversation with someone else. I have never before been treated so coldly by any other member of The Schiff Dental Group staff. It is sad that our family is going to have a find a new Dental Care provider over a $20 finance charge. I'm sure it's also not the intention of The Schiff Dental Group to lose a family of four, three of whom have significant dental needs, over $20. We loved going to our dental visits, but as the office manager said, I knew about my $2000 worth of treatment and should have paid my bill already, so that leaves things feeling quite awkward, doesn't it?

Make sure to ask about prices before getting ANYTHING done here. I talked to my insurance company who told me that the group overcharged me. When I called to ask about the charge, the secretary was extremely rude and said "this is how it is done at the practice". Very inappropriate and unprofessional supporting staff at this Dental Group.
