Zero fucking stars. After moving into our home, that was only 3 years old at the time, we started to have electrical issues and have had to change multiple circuit breaker switches. There are multiple cracks in the dry wall, outside brick and horrible paint jobs everywhere. Our electrician told us that the breaker switches used were beyond cheap. Today, a drawer just fell off. It's a barely used drawer. Chesmar makes shit homes and they don't stand behind their shoddy work. We called when we moved in about the electrical and structural concerns. They didn't care. Probably because they know they make shitty products. Can't wait to get rid of it and never buy from this crappy builder ever again read more

Really disappointed. We changed our Meritage Home for a "better quality Chesmar home" at Potranco Oak and I regret every day. Termination and details are null, fast and poor construction is noticed in every room, the poor respond for warranty and the cheap systems in comparative with other more affordable companies in the market. My previous house was completed with more details and carefully, all systems on the house came Wi-Fi connected (not an upgrade), and the findings (warranty) was fixed in less than 60 days of the closing date. We closed outright out home in July, and stay fine and We are here without options, but if your are looking for a Chesmar home we don't recommend. read more

Buyer beware! My daughter and son-in-law moved into a Chesmar house in the Mesa Western subdivision and it has critical problems. The shower pans in both bathrooms are non slip resistant. I ordered the same tile throughout my home for simplicity. Imagine my surprise to hear they are different shades and to me, that equals a different color. Im a bit color blind but my realtor pointed it out to me. I gave Chesmar the opportunity to do the right thing, fix it or pay the cost to fix it. BUYERS BEWARE: We bought our Chesmar home in June of last year and have had nothing but headaches ever since. The community is as poorly designed as the home itself. Neighbors were promised (literally written into their contracts) that a children's playground would be built, yet we are three years into construction and there's a crappy dog park instead, and now Chesmar is claiming it's up to the HOA to make it happen. Chesmar is so cheap that they won't even hire a second construction manager to oversee the warranty work (which there is a LOT of, I'll elaborate below), so one man is responsible for all of the new construction as well as warranty. You can imagine how this could lead to underwhelming quality of work across the board. In terms of warranty work, one of the primary motivations of buying a brand new home is that if something is wrong, it's most likely covered under a warranty and will be fixed in a timely manner. However, in a Chesmar community, because their staff lacks the support necessary to do their jobs efficiently, not only are there MANY issues within the home, getting those issues repaired is a freaking nightmare. For example, we have had issues with both our exterior entry doors/frames being installed incorrectly. Not only were we not notified when trades would be coming to do the work (zero consideration for whether anyone would even be home), the warranty office completely failed to set up all the necessary follow up in a timely manner. The framers came on a Tuesday and no one showed up to do the trim until three days later, after I personally had to follow up and request they be scheduled. We have had problems with our floors and problems with our yard, both of which seem to be standard across the neighborhood. I could go on and on. I cannot stress enough just how big of a mistake it was for us to purchase a Chesmar home. They are cheap and take shortcuts in terms of staffing and building materials. Their warranty offices are unorganized and unresponsive to homeowners needs. They make false promises regarding amenities and leave it up to HOA's to deliver. Please, do yourself a favor and choose another builder. read more

So this is a very busy time in construction and a lot of people are buying new homes. A word of caution about Chesmar they are just not getting it right. I purchased a home in 2020 in the beginning all was good.....then the poor construction started to show through and trying to get things fixed is a nightmare. They lack of communication and follow through is terrible. Several homes that are being lived in where I live are experiencing major issues and we hear crickets. Buying a Chesmar home has been a huge disappointment. I have massive flooding in my yard when it rains. Water pools rendering my backyard a water hazard and unusable. Both sides of my home have standing water after it rains. I have spoken to Terry - VP of Operations, Clint - Home Building Manager, Jeff - Customer Service Manager. I have sent countless emails to these individuals asking them to correct my yard. (keep in mind I'm still under warranty) They respond saying that Chesmar will not fix these issues. Chesmar states that these issues are normal. I even asked Chesmar to send out an engineer to take reading of my yard. Chesmar told me that I need to hire an independent engineer to survey my own drainage. No one discussed or disclosed the water hazard to me at any time during the purchase and closing periods. I strongly recommend that interested home buyers DO NOT BUY A HOME WITH CHESMAR. I encourage interested buyers to ask current residents about this hazard in Wortham Oaks since I'm not the only homeowner having these issues. read more

After having a bad experience with Lennar in Florida, we thought things could only be better with Chesmar and we initially were led to believe Chesmar was a small company with very good customer service and a reasonable product for the price. This could not be further from the truth. Chesmar was running behind schedule on our home and while we were not pushing them to finish up on schedule, they clearly wanted the home done even if it meant cutting corners - and that they did. First, we hired a private inspector as it was clear the construction managers Chesmar had were spread thin and looked the other way on many issues. Our punch list was over 65 items. Some of these items Chesmar flat out refused to fix. We had drainage issues, sagging drywall, poor sod due to a sod shortage, and a side yard full of river rock with stairs leading down from the garage to the river rock - a recipe for disaster when it rains or ices. We even had a hole in the roof of the garage that when we initially brought it to Chesmar's attention, we were called liars by the construction manager. It took a video of rain pouring into our garage to prove our point. It was due to them relocating the water heater when it was improperly placed and not sealing the hole - total carelessness. We had a second leak in the living room from nail holes not sealed during installation of the roof shingles. Now several years later we have cracked tile and cracks on the foundation, a door that leaks, continued sagging drywall, and we had over $2000 worth of damage when a squirrel was able to get in through the deficient roof return - which Chesmar begrudgingly fixed after contact with upper level management and a roofer that confirmed it was not within the tolerance (of course no compensation for the money we lost). It takes years to get warranty items fixed and this is no exaggeration - we will go months without the vendors scheduling the appointment - then with no notice they will want to show up. Many appointments resulted in no shows after taking off work and sitting home all day. Chesmar would just shrug their shoulders and say we could reschedule. Then mysteriously these items will drop off Chesmar's warranty list. We were even told by someone in the know at Chesmar that the system purges these old warranty items if they stay on the books for any period of time - regardless of whose fault it is that they haven't been fixed. When you spend the kind of money we did on a house, you don't expect to have to be fixing everything shortly after move in. Shame on Chesmar for turning into the greedy and unresponsive builder that they now are. It is hard to think of anything positive to say other than they have some nice floor plans. read more

Chesmar Homes advertise about higher standards but their homes are of the lowest quality. They use cheap materials and extremely negligent and irresponsible contractors. Chesmar's resources who should be responsible for maintaining quality and overseeing jobs done by contractors are not bothered to pay a visit during the construction process. This company is pathetic. You get so many issues in the first year itself. It takes so much of your valuable time just scheduling these maintenances. They will only take care of minor issues that do not cost contractors much. For anything significant, their contractors will just refuse to do it. Chesmar Resources will just communicate emails and notes from contractors. You are at the mercy of contractors for maintenance. Chesmar hardly has any sway over its contractors. They must be hiring the cheapest contractors. Chesmar has no control I had such a nightmare experience with them. I thought they would have better products than budget builders and paid a huge premium price for the house. If I had known that I am going to get the cheapest quality product then I would have paid the cheapest price per sqft. Do not go by their advertisements and marketing. In reality, they are no better than lowest-tier budget builders. Their salespeople lie about almost everything. They are only trying to make you sign their documents and collect their commission. I wanted to buy the model house for which they used better quality materials but the salesperson told me it has already been sold. They put the model house for sale a few months after we signed the paperwork. read more

I want to start off by say that we like the community and amenities of the Wasser Ranch neighborhood, but the quality of home built by Chesmar has been far below what they advertise. During the construction of our home they were multiple with poor quality workmanship. We noticed it first with the plumbing because the concrete contractor broke some of the pipe in our foundation. Working as a plumber in the area I knew what to look for before and after inspections were done. They tried to pass a lot of the faults off as "we would have caught that" but didn't want to make the repairs until we stated that we would not close on a house that wasn't built properly. Later on in the build of our home we learned that the a/c had multiple issues on thing that weren't installed and things that were installed improperly. After calling for an inspection from a local a/c company and going back and forth with AirTron the a/c faults were repaired after a couples weeks of emails. As for the plumbing, it took the plumbers (Diamond Plumbing) approx two weeks to get the house up to code. When the plumber first finished the house we walked through and found leaks and beer bottles all over the house. When we addressed some of the issues with the plumbing, Chesmar wanted me to explain to their plumber the faults in the plumbing. A few of the faults were not corrected until I called for a state plumbing inspector to come out to the house. As the build with the house went on there were other issues with flooring, damaged tubs, and multiple other finish items in the house. The mortgage company recommended as there premier lender had multiple issues as well, come to find out that their owner by Chesmar as well and our closing was delayed by 2 weeks. I have multiple emails stating the things were finished by multiple different contractors and after we moved in, we now have other emails contradicting the original emails. Since we have closed in less than 2 month I have missed 7 days or work, so they could finish the construction of our home that they had an extra 2 weeks to finish due to their mortgage company. Since we have moved in we have had the floor repaired once that wasn't done right, and they have to come back to do it again. We've also had to be here multiple times for a tub that was repaired and wasn't done right so now we have to take at least two more days off in addition to the first two we missed for tub repairs. 2-3 more days to meet with Clint King the construction manager about all the repairs needed for (floors, tubs, fixtures, paint, doors, garage door, irrigation, sod, and a/c). The a/c has broke twice since we closed less than two months ago, that was another 2 day ordeal with a run around about why it broke. All in all we have missed a lot of time from our live and work for incomplete construction, Clint King says "its normal to have this many repairs in a new construction home" and that it's not a big deal miss work or to wait around for "warranty" work to be done. read more

We began our process March 2022 and were promised bi-weekly updates. That was the first let down, because we would have to call or email numerous times to get someone to respond back to us. We expected delays, and were informed that a 3 month delay due to the HVAC unit. Then two days later our realtor visited the build site and the project manager informed us the HVAC was just installed. What? throughout the following months additional delays racked up then we were told the home would be finished late September. Still we had to call and email numerous times to get a response. We sold and moved to Texas and booked a Virbo. More delays...drywall wasn't going to be installed. We went to the site only to see drywall hung. No communication within Chesmar, does anyone know what is going on in Chesmar? The more delays...3 weeks and no taping and masking on the drywall. How is that possible, doesn't the drywall crew do the taping? Chesmar said no. What? We were racking up month to month rental expenses and no real date in sight. Our rep, David Sulser never calls back or responds to emails; gives false information; answers question saying "I don't know" instead of saying he will find out. The customer service is horrible and would not recommend them. read more

Chesmar Homes in San Antonio are not an honest home builder. During the building process and a year after moving in, we were as nd rem as in extremely unsatisfied. We regularly had to go to our home construction site to pick up urine bottles as nd clean and clean the urine spills. Chesmar installed the wrong wood floors and led us to believe that Chesmar would make it right in some form. We've been in this house for over a year and Chesmar just told us that there's nothing they can do. Chesmar customer service is a joke. They will not return calls. Chesmar customer service will respond everytime with a one sentence response in a, take it or leave it manner. Chesmar San Antonio will tell you they're available to you for anything, at any time and that is 100% not true. Chesmar wants you to close as nd says when they treat you like u never existed. Purchasing a Chesmar home is our biggest purchase regret in our lives. read more

Cesar Rivera the Chesmar representative at Regent Park in Boerne is an incredibly polite, patient, and knowledgeable representative for Chesmar Homes, which, in our view, provides homes with great style. We continue in our home search, and have had numerous contacts, by email and in person with Cesar, and he is always kind, and never pushy. We are still unable to make up our minds, at least at this point. If we made our decision based upon the sales representative alone, hands down, we'd pick Cesar of Chesmar. I saw a negative review of another Chesmar representative, and suppose I felt the need to add balance. There are apparently great Chesmar reps out there. read more
