They have like a switchback OK so which means you're going higher and higher, but without stairs, right... and six years ago I had a knee surgery where I needed to still exercise, but I just couldn't lift my knee like that just walking was all I could do so I've been in a few predicaments where you know I appreciate having this switchback, I just don't appreciate the dog poop. If you are going to violate the rules and bring your dog which I love animals I love dogs you gotta clean up after your animal. It's not OK to just to leave dog poop on the trail. And also, why aren't my Park Rangers enforcing this rule anyhow, if you wanna take a nice walk, that's gonna give you a little workout without doing too much strain than this is the park for you! At the end of the day, this is a very pretty park where you can actually barbecue you do need to reserve the space. I don't know how much it cost, but I know you need to reserve the space and then you can have a party there there's a skate park attached. I mean it's a nice park just please people be respectful and I guess it's not the Park's fault per se... But if there are Park Rangers, why aren't they enforcing this rule? Also, they lease out some space to this company that does these really cool teambuilding, exercises and wall climbs and stuff. It's pretty cool. I wanted to do it but it was like $100 a person and I was like ouch! All in all, there is a beautiful view when you do reach the top and I don't mean the top on the bottom I mean all the way up to the top has the picture show you can see all the way to the beach on a clear day. I personally go for a hike every Sunday because it helps me decompress, reflect on the week that I've had, and mentally prepare myself for the week coming up/visualize future plans. Right off the bat, I'd strongly recommend planning in advance for the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook since the parking closer to the base of the trail is street parking and first come first serve. While the street parking is mostly free (there are some meters), I can't really recommend a "best" time to get there as I've gone at multiple times of the morning, afternoon, and evening, and it's generally tough to get a spot that isn't a bit of a walk away. Additionally, there is metered parking at the top of the trail, but the caveat is that you won't be able to advance the steps on your first trek if you start from the top. The steps are arguably the most attractive part of the trail since it offers a unique fitness challenge that manages to feel familiar for stairmaster users while also feeling different because of the outdoor ambiance. It also feels like something out of a training scene from a Shaw Brothers film for my fellow movie nerds. If your'e reasonably in shape, the steps likely won't be too big of an issue, but if you're fairly new to fitness/hiking, you will likely have to take breaks as you advance up the steps. That said, most people here are very supportive of one another, so if you are struggling to make it up, someone will no doubt cheer you on. Once you advance to the top of the steps, you'll have an opportunity to catch your breath, take in the beautiful skyline view of LA, and take a selfie. This is also a great opportunity to chat with fellow hikers and possibly make a new friend or two along the way. I'd suggest advancing past this rest spot and make your way to the back of the trail as it provides you with two cool options. Option 1: You can make a right while at the parking lot and do laps going up and down the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook without worrying about the steps. It is significantly less grueling than the steps, offers some additional great views of LA, and even has a few benches where one can chill and eat a snack. Option 2 (Strongly Recommend): You can make a left, walk through the parking lot, and explore a nice casual hike from the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook to the nearby Kenneth Hahn Park. I do this every time I visit the trail because it feels like a more rewarding hike that also offers some really nice views of the local area. Furthermore, this path is another way to get to Kenneth Hahn without worrying about the $10.00 entry fee should you try to enter the park that way. I've been hiking since 2020, and I can confidently say that this is one of my favorite trails. I've hiked here countless times alone, and I've also gone with less experienced friends who've also had a blast. The Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook is moderately challenging, offers some great views, is peaceful, and the food trucks at the base of the steps have a wealth of smoothies, refreshers, etc. to choose from for your pre or post hike pleasure.

They have basketball courts and a structure monkey Gym for the older ones and also a fun area for ages 2-5 of age I would say that's great with slides and climbing and fun drums and other great toys for kids to use their imagination. The bathrooms are very clean and love that it's in a residential area and not as open to homeless like other parks. They have a few benches and tables if you'd like to have a picnic or just have lunch or a small little gathering. The grass area and shade area with tree's is so great, the grass is maintained well and love the space for kids to run and not have to worry about them going to the street. There is a little school/ Summer classes in the same area with bigger kids as well. I loved it so much can't wait to come back!

There's ample room for people looking to reserve a spot for family events, cookouts, etc., a Japanese garden located near the upper parking structure near the parks entrance for photos, lunch, book reading, etc., and multiple trails that lead to a dog park, bird watch, trail, and an incredible monument dedicated to the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I've actually been visiting this park since 2019, so I'm not sure why it took me so long to post a review, but Kenneth Hahn is the perfect place to go to if you need to disconnect from the non-stop hustle and bustle of modern LA living. I'll typically pair a walk here with a hike at the nearby Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook at least one Sunday out of the month, and I do this to help recalibrate myself after what's typically been a busy week filled with one too many responsibilities and obligations. As a bonus, every first Sunday of the month Breathe Good LA hosts free group yoga sessions near the Japanese garden, and it's a great opportunity to connect with people and share some good vibes. Overall, Kenneth Hahn State Park is perfect for large and small family/friend get togethers, group yoga, and it's a great place to unwind and admire many of the different birds and reptiles that are local to the area.

The grounds are beautiful, with plenty of open space, walking paths, mature trees, and peaceful water features. Everywhere you look there seems to be another picturesque view. On our second visit, we discovered the Hummingbird Garden, which ended up being one of the highlights of the park. The area is filled with feeders and absolutely buzzing with wildlife. We saw hummingbirds darting between flowers and feeders, along with bees, songbirds, lizards, and squirrels. Nature lovers will be in heaven. One word of advice: keep an eye on the ground while you're walking. There was so much wildlife activity that it was easy to spot lizards and even baby squirrels scurrying around underfoot. Parking was straightforward and cost $10 for the day, with discounted admission available for service members. Whether you're looking for a quiet afternoon in nature, a family outing, or a place to reconnect with the outdoors, Kenneth Hahn is well worth a visit. When you are there, it almost feels like it is part of an HOA, with how quiet and well kept it is. There is security nearby, which adds to the sense of safety. It would be a great place for toddlers and younger kids. There is space for them to move around and play without feeling like you are in a crowded public park. They have a basketball court where you can play or shoot around, and there are picnic tables where you can sit, eat, or just hang out. I came here just looking for a place to sit down and relax for a little while. It turned out to be a perfect spot for that. You could come here to think, read, get a little workout in, or simply catch your breath in the middle of the day. The park is very clean, very nice, and has a calm, peaceful feel to it. When you go inside the little facility there is a lot of fun facts, history and little area to read books and ask for information. One way leads you to the Mark Ridley-Thomas Bridge that goes over La Cienega and connects to Kenneth Hahn or other trails that lead to other overlooks. The other direction will take you to the Baldwin Hills Stairs. There is also a sign that shows a way to walk you all the way to Playa Del Rey! Something I would love to try one of these days. It is easy to find parking. They have tons of classes, like yoga and cooking classes for children, and the day we went, they had a blood drive going on. The restrooms are clean, and everyone there had a smile on their faces, even though they were super busy setting everything up. I can't wait to go back and explore.

The kids jungle gym area, slides, swings and other fun monkey bars are great and they are on a huge bed of sand that can be great for older kids but not the babies, but there is a nice grass so you can bring a blanket and still see the kids at play. It would be nice to update the park structures a bit to make it look more inviting but that's just me. Overall it's a great park!
