This is not for the faint of heart! If you're up for the challenge, this is a beautiful walk/run/jog up what seems like a thousand stairs to the top. There are several places to stop off to the site or even sit down as you're heading up and down. Once you're at the top, it is gorgeous! It certainly makes it well worth the strenuous exercise to get up there. Also there's parking on the street and a few vendors which you may choose to go to for a hydrating drink after the climb. Review for the Culver City Stairs - Great hike in LA that offers nice panoramic views of the mountains and city. My friend and I hiked here on a Friday in the middle of the day. The sun was out but we enjoyed the exercise and the view. There is street parking offered at the bottom and once you go up the short dirt road you'll immediately see the stairs. From the bottom it can look quite steep but once you start going up you get used to the feel. The worst part is that the stairs are all uneven and some are pretty high (especially for kids/short adults like me), but overall the hike is pretty quick. For those in excellent physical shape, it probably only takes ~10 mins to get to the top. For those who might need to take more pauses, ~20 mins. As you walk up, there are a couple of areas you can pull over on the side and catch your breath on. Once you're at the top, there are a ton of great views and photo op spots. Heading down was a little confusing because we tried to avoid the stairs at first and use the dirt roads, however the path we picked didn't lead all the way back to the bottom so we just ended up taking the stairs for half of it. read more

This is the Baldwin Hills scenic overlook, which is also known as the Culver City stairs. There's two ways you can go. You can go all the way up on the stairs, which aren't good for my knee or you can take the kind of like paved road on the sidewalk, which is what I do I can take the stairs down. I prefer not to. If you get there early in the morning, it's not very crowded and it's a beautiful sunrise. I like to get my workouts in first thing in the morning, that way the endorphins are flowing if serotonin levels are high your energies up there and I feel much more productive, but I can't always do it. I shoot for three times a week. I love that. I have a free resource to enjoy nature's beauty and marvel at how quiet the city is when it's sleeping. It's a beautiful hike. Highly suggested. I don't like to go on the weekends. There's too many people that come from other places to go there so it's crowded so, if I do it on the weekend, I'm doing it very early in the morning so I don't Have to deal with so many people... I find that I don't people well anymore and I don't like a lot of people around me! They have also created like an extension to where it goes into another part of a different park. I think it's Kenneth Han not sure but it's really cool and in a city it's nice to have these naturesque getaways. read more

Always a fun time doing the Culver Stairs here. I went with my friend today and her and I went up and down the stairs twice. You'll get a great workout in no doubt!! There's usually a good amount of people here no matter the time you go. Parking can be tricky when it gets super busy, but it's pretty much all street parking. Restrooms at the top of the overlook. This is a very nice place to hike. People did street parking at the bottom, but there is a paid lot on the very top. It was nice to see the cityscape and the flowers that bloomed. The stairs were a challenge. Starting from the bottom would probably have been a better idea since going downwards caused some wobbly legs for me since I don't do this often. I enjoyed this overlook because it was such a nice sky. I parked in the lot near the top and paid the fee. Some people parked on the street and hiked up, which I plan to do next time. There was a food truck there and some nice photo opportunities on the way up. I did not see any animals on the trail, but I saw a variety of different plant species, it was beautiful. Great place for a quick workout. Three ways to the top, the classic stairs which is about 30 floors high, a zigzag trail, and the blacktop road in the back for cars. At the top there are bathrooms and a small museum. Amazing views. read more

What a cool spot in a very urban area to get some exercise, take in sweeping views and get your feet on dirt pathways surrounded by a bit of nature. 282 very uneven concrete steps to the top of the overlook. BE CAREFUL, the steps are potentially dangerous (especially descending!) I climbed the stairs twice and managed to explore most of the open space - and even found the trail to the Hahn recreation area across La Cienega (there's a pedestrian footbridge over La Cienega). Check out the visitor's center at the top of the Overlook and the Stoneview Nature Center on the backside of the preserve (down the hill toward La Cienega via footpath.) Beautiful park for those who like to do trail walks or jogs. This place gets pretty busy with locals who get to enjoy a nice view of the downtown LA sky rise buildings, and lot of the LA basin in general. I was surprised to see tons of folks grinding up that steep hill to get to the overlook parking lot at the top. Either way, this is a nice spot to check out if you're visiting from out of town (or state) with lots of great picture opportunities with great views. read more

If you have short legs the steps are definitely more of a lunge. There are platforms to rest well spaced throughout! This hike will connect with a lot of other parks and hikes so can be more of a half day or full day type ordeal. There are also restrooms on the top near the visitors center. Can't believe there is a nice park like this in the heart of a busy city like LA! Culver City steps has been on my LA bucket list and I finally got to cross it off on my trip this time. We parked at the top and paid $2 for an hour's worth of parking. We went on a Sunday around 11am and there were lots of people. Took us about 5 minutes to go down and 8 minutes to come back up. Looks are deceiving - the steps seem easy but it ended up being pretty challenging! The steps were also pretty steep and also slightly uneven which makes the workout even tougher. It would have been nice if there were some more signs to the steps. There are also trails around the park that are gentler on the knees. Overall, I would come back if I want to get in a quick workout outside. Very safe, definitely can go solo. read more

Great place for a good workout whether you climb the steps to the top or take the switchbacks. Be a good person and DON'T take your dog on this trail. Dogs are not allowed and I've seen so many people who just ignore this, bring their dog, and there's poop left on the trail. NOT COOL. There's free street parking if you can find it or paid parking. I have only been once though so far this is one of my favorite hikes. It is doable for almost anyone in light of the road and path choices though provides a workout due the incline, especially at a rapid pace or jog. The street parking option at the base is free and conveniently near the start of the hike. The views at the top are rewarding. The paths are large enough for a group and provide opportunities for interesting conversation along the way. I came with my alumni association. It was an ideal venue for the event. I saw a center I did not have time to enter near the top. It looked inviting. The various detours leading to the top present opportunities to discover new outlook points if I return, which I'd enjoy doing. I also saw at least one if not more paid parking lots, as options. It is near some enjoyable restaurants for a meal, casual snack or beverage after. The hike provided exhilarating exercise I could do efficiently, as I took in the scenery, worked out, engaged in stimulating conversation, and met fellow alumni, after I had had most of my day to enjoy, then had most my evening free for dinner with other alumni. read more

What's up: Here for Earth Day! We're teaming up with Cal Parks to help clean up the area by removing invasive plants and planting California native plants. Parking: Paved parking lot on the top with a handful of EV chargers for your electric vehicles. Don't forget to pay your parking fees ($2/hr or $6 all day). Finally hiked the connector portion (Baldwin Scenic Overlook to Kenneth Hanh) of the Park to Playa Trail. We have enjoyed hiking both of those parks but never did the connector portion which was a moderately steep and fun hike checking out the new-ish Stone view Nature Center and crossing the Mark Ridley-Thomas Bridge that goes over La Cienega. Who can hate a park?! Before all the rain, I was here every Sunday morning at the Culver City Stairs. It is an amazing work out. There is an easier trail to the top if you don't want to go up that way. There is parking as well on top of the hill if you want to start from the top, however parking it is limited. There is a lot of street parking though. At the bottom of hill there is normally some smoothie and/or juice trucks. A great place to workout for free. Get some great views and work up a sweat! View! View! View! If you live on the LA west side and you want to get away from the urban jungle but you don't want to drive hours out of town, then this is a perfect choice! Just minutes from the busy Culver City streets is this hilly park adjacent to the Culver City Park, where benches, baseball fields, and a small area for dogs to run around. Actually, if you get to the Culver City Park first, you'd find parking easily and the walk up here is much easier with gentle slopes. On a clear day, you can see all the way from the Pacific Ocean, to the Santa Monica mountains, to downtown LA; and if you look closely, you'll see the white HOLLYWOOD sign right up there on the hills. Thanks to the storms in early 2023 the fields are covered with beautiful green vegetation and wild flowers are blooming! Great place to take your out of town guests too! read more

I thoroughly enjoy coming up to the top of Baldwin Hills overlook. On a clear day it's amazing but you can easily see 60 miles to the mountains of Mount Wilson and Angeles crest. It's a great place to exercise or bicycle ride. From the top, you could take the trail, which is not an easy one over toKenneth Hahn Park, which is on the other side of La Cienega. The Baldwin Hills scenic overlook has gorgeous views on a clear day of the city. I typically go to hike, for there are easy trails and stairs to climb if you want a good workout. You also can drive up the hill for the view as well. At the bottom of the hill, there are food trucks that serve some of my favorite açai bowls. I went here at 6 o clock on a Thursday night and it was a bad idea. First off this is a great place to do a stair workout. These aren't regular stairs as some stairs are further apart, higher, shallow and shorter then others so it's definitely a stair workout you want to do after stretching. It takes about 30-45 mins to do the stairs one way if you don't normally workout, but kind you I noticed some people pass me up twice since I'm a beginner at this. Great cardio workout for sure and if you reach the top you get the best view of the LA skyline which I do recommend taking pics of. Now my mistake was going here after dark and only having my phone light. You can see the stairs but it's safer to have a flashlight. I went down the back way which was another mistake because we got somewhat lost and so many people peed along the way it smelled like piss. Other then that I loved the view up top, people move out your way and are mindful of you if you need a break as well. Also, there is a juice truck at the bottom which is nice when you like to follow your workout with a healthy all natural drink. read more

I knew my love for stairs would get me somewhere.... literally in this case, lol. Hiking up these steep, concrete steps will give you a phenomenal 360 view of LA. You'll most likely find yourself catching your breath a lot & I mean A LOT but like the cliche saying goes, nothing good ever comes easy!! The best part is if steps aren't your thing, you have other options: a dirt trail that you can walk/run on or paved road that you can take a casual stroll on. That's the beauty of this place, something for everyone on all levels of fitness. Once you get to the top, there's usually people working out and bathrooms, as well. Solid spot for a good workout, stunning views, and people watching. Worried about parking? Don't. There's tons of metered parking along Jefferson for 25 cents/hour & parking at the top (by the overlook) for $2/hour or $6/day.
