We came on the coldest weekend of the year but my kids had a blast skiing, snow tubing, horseback riding, pony rides, arcade, game room, playing laser tag, swimming in the pool, the outdoor hot tub, and the nightly shows. Food is included in the price and it is buffet style for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is not but you are more than welcome to order more and take things to go. There's snacks available between lunch and dinner but there's also hot chocolate/coffee available all day long with some pastries. The only downside were the rooms. They are connected so if you have loud neighbors, you won't be getting good sleep. Overall, my kids loved the place and want to go back soon. I guess we'll have to wait for another Black Friday deal.

While they are a bit older than the resort's main target audience, it ended up being a great fit, especially since they had never been horseback riding and hadn't skied before. Everyone had a great time. We stayed in the main building in a room with two queen beds and bunk beds. The room was very clean, and the beds were comfortable with soft mattresses and pillows. Temperature-wise, it was funny, my son and I were warm, while my wife and daughter were cold, so I guess that means the room temperature was just right. One thing to note: the walls are thin. You can definitely hear noise from nearby rooms and above. Since this is a family-focused resort, that's kind of expected. It didn't bother us, but if you're looking for total quiet, this may not be the place. Since it was midweek, there were discounts, and they even offered us on our last night an extra night for and even more discounted rate. We were ready to head home, but I would absolutely consider staying longer next time. The resort is all-inclusive, and the food was solid overall. * Breakfast was your typical buffet--scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, French toast, etc. They will cook eggs to order if you ask. * Lunch was buffet-style as well and changed daily. Not amazing, but it got the job done. * Dinner was my favorite meal and felt a bit higher quality, with multiple courses and limited menu options (which I actually liked). * Dessert was fun, especially the ice cream machine. One thing I noticed is that the food is served at a kid-friendly temperature, which took a little getting used to. I'm guessing they do this so kids don't get burned. The activities were the highlight. Skiing was fantastic because it was almost empty, there were only a few other people on the hill. Since I hadn't skied since the early 90s, it was great to have the space to fall a few times without worrying about others. The staff was extremely helpful and encouraging. The hill is more like a bunny slope, but honestly, it's perfect for beginners. If you spent a few days learning here, you'd feel confident going to a bigger mountain. Horseback riding was also great, and since it was midweek, we could have gone multiple times a day. The indoor/outdoor heated pool was really nice, and there's even a waterslide. A lot of the resort seems better suited for summer, and some things were closed for winter, but we came mainly for skiing, so that didn't bother us. The staff deserves a lot of credit. Everyone was friendly and accommodating, and we never felt rushed. There's a saloon downstairs where they run games at night and offer a free drink of the night. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are always available. One small downside: when the dining areas close at night, soda machines aren't accessible, so you'd need to use vending machines (machines were coin only, so I couldn't use my Apple Pay), which felt a little odd for an all-inclusive resort. But, you can grab drinks to go while the dining room is open. On our last day, they let us do a late checkout since no one was checking into our room. We were able to grab lunch and head out without rushing, which was really appreciated. Definitely a lot more things I can talk about, but these were just the stand out things I remember. Overall: Rocking Horse Ranch is a great choice for families, beginners learning to ski, or anyone looking for a relaxed, all-inclusive getaway--especially midweek when it's quieter. It's not luxury, and it's definitely kid-focused, but it's fun, comfortable, and well-run. I'd absolutely go back.

We go up this time... no horses, new fence, one barn is missing and all I see are sheep. What the frig Ricky?! So I search for other farms and find Lucky C Stables. We randomly drive to this place and just ask out the window if we could feed some horses... to our surprise we were met with smiling faces and even given a tour of the barns!! It was so enjoyable and we met, pet and fed so many cool horse buddies, that I would love to come back and book a trail ride or lesson next time I am around. Four hours later, we received an email claiming they had previously emailed us (we never received anything) and that there had been an emergency with the trainer. While emergencies happen, the response didn't feel sincere, and the complete lack of communication in the moment was frustrating. This was supposed to be a highlight of our trip, but instead, it was a huge letdown. Given the positive reviews, we expected much better. If you're considering booking here, be warned--there seems to be a serious lack of reliability and customer service. We won't be trying again.

The trails were awesome and Janet was so incredibly nice and knowledgeable. I took my boyfriend for his birthday and he loved it!! I would recommend wearing stretchy/loose fitting jeans. You definitely dont want something too tight as itll be extremely uncomfortable and painful when in the saddle. It can be painful in your inner thighs after a while but Janet gave some good tips to minimize that feeling! After the 1.25h ride we got to feed the horses apples and carrots (they loveeeee carrots!) that we had brought from our home. I'm an experienced rider, have been riding and leasing horses since I was a kid, have worked in…read morebarns, have been a certified therapeutic riding instructor, and would not recommend this place because they don't conform to basic safety and horsemanship practices. I won't list all of them - just some highlights. My friend, who is not experienced, wanted to do this trail ride for our birthdays and we thought it would be fun. I've been on trail rides all over the world and know what to expect, and have never pulled out of a ride because I didn't feel safe until this place. I was the first person to be mounted and when the horse came out, I could see that the saddle was improperly placed too far back. I didn't say anything because it's not my place, but when I mounted, the girth was clearly too loose as the saddle started to slip. I told them that the girth was too loose and also that the saddle seemed to far back so Janet said let's reset the saddle and asked me how I would do it! She didn't seem to know the proper placement or how tight to make the girth because apparently this happened before. She then told me to walk down the lawn and let the horse graze while I waited for the rest of the group. It's not a safe practice to let horses graze while mounted, especially with beginners, but apparently that's what they do regularly. When the group was ready to leave, Janet started off on her horse and just about 30 yards from the barn, before even getting to the trail, the horse tripped and fell all the way down to the ground!! Janet fell off of course, and the horse walked off. If I had any doubt that all the red flags I'd clocked were right, this confirmed it. She was shaken up but ok, but didn't go on the ride, I don't know what was up with the horse but if a horse falls down just walking across a lawn, that raises questions about soundness and safety that are serious.

Just took our money and made sure we signed the waiver. We didn't even get a "hello" or "welcome". Definitely didn't get a goodbye and or "thank you". Word of advice: be grateful to out of towner's here supporting your community. Not as if we are a burden.
