My friends and I came here for brunch during a visit to Blue Ridge. The ambiance and service were really wonderful and we were excited for our meal since it was a bit of a splurge for us. The food is the reason for the reduction in stars. We started with the shrimp and scallop fondue, which sounded so much better than it tasted, and the toasted bread it's served with was heavily salted and not enjoyable. My friends had the ribeye and said it was mediocre. I had the shrimp biscuit and only ate a few bites. The BBQ sauce was heavily salted and not pleasant, and the cheddar cheese just seemed like it didn't belong. As a cheese lover, this is the first time in over 60 decades that I've actually removed the cheese from a dish. I took the leftovers with me since I hate wasting food and ate the biscuit with some butter and the shrimp by themselves the next day. It still wasn't very good, but at least I didn't waste it. On the plus side, the cinnamon rolls were absolute delicious and were a bargain at $8 for six! They were the highlight of our meal. We also enjoyed the creme brûlée very much. Since the restaurant is pricey and so many of the dishes were a disappointment, we all agreed that we probably won't return to give it another try. Due to life, this was my first time back for brunch in a few months....and as always, ready for my mimosas...with cranberry instead of OJ. Please help me understand how your math works now. $4 for a mimosa with the traditional OJ, but if you ask for a splash of cranberry instead the price goes to $9! I'm looking at prices and 64 fl oz of OJ is $6.77 while 101 fl oz of cranberry is $6.99. It takes $5 more in labor cost to trade out cranberry for the OJ??? Also, do NOT top off my mimosa with a third of a glass left and charge me for a full new one... especially when I asked for the next one to have less OJ and no fruit. This was such a wonderful evening! We made a reservation on Resy. It worked out great. We were seated right away. Our server was named Alyssa. She was super sweet and took great care of us. We were celebrating something special and she made sure our night was memorable. They started us off with the bread, which was absolutely delicious. Get the bread!!!! We ordered the pork belly for an appetizer. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered the shareable mac & cheese, and a salad that I customized. Alyssa went out out of her way to make sure that my salad was just how I wanted it. They were so nice about it. My dining partner ordered the black and blue fillet. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We both really loved the macaroni and cheese. They celebrated us with a bread, pudding, dessert and a really sweet card! We had such high hopes for this place! It's very cute inside. On a Wednesday night we didn't have reservations so we were willing to eat at the bar. The poor bartender was the only one serving 15 or more people. It wasn't packed, but it was definitely understaffed. After waiting about 30min without an order placed for food, we asked the hostess if we could be sat at a table. She had a pavilion table available. We accepted. So far, the drinks were good, but the new server let us know the service would be spotty as soon as he arrived. We thought that was weird and laughed it off. We should have listened. It was downhill from there. One server for most of the pavilion. Bless his heart. It took almost 2hrs to get our main food from the time we arrived. The shrimp was undercooked so we sent it back. They did remove it from the bill. The potatoes for the filet were like box potatoes: the Mac n cheese was the best part. The meatloaf texture was like what I would imagine dog food would be like. I love meatloaf so this is we really disappointing. After waiting so long we wanted to leave and water service was completely absent so we had to go get it from the bar ourselves. From other reviews it seems like this is a new development. I hope they can save this place because I know we will never return. Only go here if you have nothing else to do. read more

This restaurant came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. We went on a Sunday for brunch. We had the baked oysters and they were delicious. The pork belly appetizer withe maple and peppers was even better. Entrees were the Ribeye with Chimichurri and Salmon BLT also delicious. The ribeye came with a hash brown casserole that was very good. The salmon was cured with vodka and the bacon was prepared with some type of sweet heat. Lilly was our server and she did an excellent job of taking care of us. The cocktails were very good. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. We were seated inside and it was elegant. Great Flavor, Disappointing Service and Unprofessional Behavior We arrived at Black Sheep around 10:50 a.m. and waited for them to open at 11:00. When we checked in, we were told the only table available wouldn't be until 12:30, but that the bar was first come, first serve and offered the full menu. Since we aren't from the area, we chose the bar and were seated right at opening. Shortly after, we learned alcohol isn't served until 12:30 -- something that wasn't posted anywhere we could see (maybe it's on the website, but we didn't notice it). We ordered coffee and water, then an appetizer, which didn't arrive until around 11:30. After that, our bartender disappeared for long stretches, and another bartender even removed our menus without asking if we had ordered. We finally got to place our entrée order close to noon, and our food didn't arrive until about 12:20 -- putting us at nearly an hour and a half by the time we were served. The food itself was flavorful and nicely presented. My ribeye had great seasoning, and the potato casserole was delicious and hot. However, both my steak and eggs -- and my husband's crab cake dish -- were lukewarm by the time they reached us. At that point, after waiting so long, sending the food back wasn't really an option we wanted to take, and we completely understood the couple sitting nearby who had the same issue. They also waited a long time, and while they politely mentioned their food was cold, they didn't complain -- just acknowledged it. Unfortunately, after they left, the male bartender made jokes about them to the entire bar, saying things like "if anyone has an issue, say it before you eat," and making comments about their tip and complaint. It was unprofessional and frankly unnecessary -- especially considering the service delays and the fact that multiple guests were experiencing the same problem. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the food has wonderful flavor potential, but the slow pacing, inconsistent service, and rude commentary from staff took away from what could have been a great brunch experience. After scouring for parking and fighting off the crowds at the Chili Cook-Off we finally found our way to the front doors of this fantastic restaurant. It is dog friendly on their spacious patio complete with outdoor heaters. We had our Yorkie, Bear, with us and there were several other dogs out there as well. It was hopping! Ashley was our server and she is absolutely amazing! I had a glass of Sav blanc and the wedge salad, my kiddo got a hamburger and fries and so did my husband. The salad was so good I ate the entire thing! Then I made the mistake of trying a bite of my daughter's burger after she was done with it and instant regret for not ordering one as well!! It was so good might have been the best burger I've eaten from a restaurant like ever. The only thing it lacked was yellow mustard which I could have easily asked for but I was seriously too busy inhaling the rest of the delicious burger to ask lol! Fries were tasty as well. My kiddo actually ate a good bit of her meal which is always a win and a true testament to a good restaurant! Great spot for kids, dogs and delicious food!! Bear even got some bites of the burger of course he was obsessed!! 10 out of 10 from Bear as well! After a phenomenal meal Ashley brought us the most adorable chocolate with their logo such a great idea and added a memorable touch to the meal! This restaurant has a lot of character. I love the oversized fire pit for family and friends to gather around. We had a party of 9 and our waitress did an amazing job for it to be her third day on the job. We were seated in the outdoor screened in patio area. There was plenty of room and heat to keep us warm. My drinks and food were amazing. I will say the collard greens were not good to me. Everyone knows you do not add sugar and/or maple syrup to greens. Also, I am from the south (Mississippi, Jackson, TN and Memphis) so we know good collard greens, and these were not it. They were just way too sweet. I'm giving the restaurant a 5 because everything else I ordered was delicious and our waitress didn't miss a beat. Her name was Ashley and she was extremely sweet. This place will forever a hold special in my memory, so thank you for that. We came here on 4th of July weekend to kick off of a family vacation that was postponed too many years. It was on a whim, so we didn't make a reservation but I think on busier nights, you probably should. We showed up to this cute outdoor seating area. Their was a house behind it that we assumed was the restaurant too. We walked in and were greeted by the hostess. She gave us a little bit of history on the establishment, which was a fun and cool touch. We decided to sit outside as the weather was unreal. Our waitress, Ashley (I believe), came over and greeted us. She said she was relatively new to the area, but gave us a few pointers and tips which was cool. We ordered a few smokey old fashions, some wine, and a Moscow mule to start. As an appetizer, we ordered some baked oysters that came out with bread. The oysters were delicious and the rolls were so buttery and delicious that we actually asked for me. Honestly, this experience couldn't get any better... until it did. Ashley took our order and my husband and I decided to split the lamb lollipop chops and the butter poached shrimp. My in-laws ordered the rack of lambs to split. After a bit, the food came out. The lamb was the best I have ever had in my life. I still think about them & wish I could find the recipe since I live so far. The butter poached shrimp was rich and filling, but tasty. My in-laws agreed. Ashley was so sweet and got us dessert on the house for the celebration as well. Truly a great experience and can't wait to continue to rave about it! We will be back! read more

Fantastic brunch! We had seen lots of reviews for Black Sheep and finally decided to stop in for brunch. Best dining experience of our trip so far. Great location downtown with indoor and outdoor seating. Great New Orleans vibe with the main building being an old home and old blues/jazz music. Service was excellent. Food was absolutely delicious! We started with the pork belly and cinnamon rolls. The pork belly was so good with a sweet Thai chili sauce. The cinnamon rolls were good but tasted like refrigerated ones you'd make at home. We decided to share the short ribs and chicken with red velvet waffle. It was all fresh and so flavorful. The short ribs were our favorite. Got the peach cobbler for dessert. It was good but I prefer some of the cobbler to be crispy. This was my first time in Blue Ridge and at Black Sheep. A group of us decided to rent a cabin for the weekend, and this place was one of the establishments we wanted to try. It was challenging when we first entered as the place had limited space. Because it was six of us, they sat us in the middle of the main hallway in front of the door. This was uncomfortable as the front door was open, and the temperature was in the 40's. The establishment was running two fireplaces, but that initially could not combat the breeze coming in the front door. The manager was super awesome and was trying to accommodate us. The front door was eventually closed, and we started to warm up. Kudos to the manager for trying to make it right. Now, on to the rest of the experience. We started with drinks, Bloody Mary's and Citrus Basil Martinis. Followed by a Roasted Beet Salad. For the main dishes, we had oyster biscuits, crab cakes, chicken, and red velvet waffles without the waffles. Compliments were given to the chef because the food was amazing. But I'll be honest: Stephanie, our waitress, made our experience enjoyable. Stephanie was on point. I love it when the staff knows the menu and can make recommendations based on what you are describing to satisfy your palate. Out of all of the dishes... dem dere oyster biscuits were my favorite, LAWD HAB MERCY! I may have to spend another weekend to have this again. This place is amazing; the staff was fantastic, and the manager was awesome. If I were you and you have some time, travel up to Blue Ridge and give Black Sheep a try. I was a little worried because the reviews were all over the board here, but OMG - hands down one of the best meals I've ever had. Boyfriend and I went after I made a reservation a bit out knowing they had an art festival in town the weekend we were visiting (I recommend a reservation anyway). They were out of all of their specials by 6:00! Which is no problem for us but clearly they were busy before we got there. We split the grilled peach and burrata salad, and it was such an amazing combination of flavors! I was really torn on what to go with, so he suggested I do the filet in the style of the ribeye (not a ribeye gal) - and this was definitely the move!! My filet was perfectly cooked, the brown sugar onion jam was an incredible compliment. We both had smoked old fashioneds and finished the meal off with the most delicious peanut butter pie. If we ever get lucky enough to come back to this beautiful area of Georgia, we will be sure to enjoy a meal here! read more

This was a truly top notch experience. We went for our anniversary and had a great meal. Our waiter Scott was the best waiter I have had in a long time. He was able to describe every dish in detail from memory and made recommendations based on our tastes. We had the shrimp appetizer which was well cooked and very rich in flavor. We split the Trout and Lamb for main course. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender. The trout was a little buttery, but was delicious. The house Hawaiian rolls were insane. I don't love bread, but they were addictive as described. I had their smoked old fashioned which was very well mixed. We had the bread pudding for desert. The fire pit out front was not lit. When we asked about it, Scott had it lit for us. We enjoyed a glass of prosecco by the fire. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary. The food was excellent and Scott's approach set the experience apart. I highly recommend this place and will be returning. We are going to stop there and get some of the Hawaiian rolls for our kids. read more

Truly disappointing. It was our 25th anniversary dinner. Even though I wrote it on the booking app, no one acknowledged it, or asked if we were celebrating anything special. The hostesses were more interested in their conversation at 8:45 pm than welcoming us and seating us. - Food was sub-par, for any restaurant. Soup was luke-warm, duck was drowned in essentially barbecue sauce with a fancy name, yet still dry. The ahi tacos were good. - I'd rate the pork belly appetizer, but it never came. - We skipped dessert. -Sat at a table where my chair actually touched the chair behind me, and it was still a tight fit for both of us. They allowed us to move. - Waitress seemed to be rushed and disinterested. Took away our wine glasses even though we said we'd be having wine. She also took away my wife's menu before we ordered. - The waitress didn't introduce herself or the restaurant. I asked about specials, there weren't any, which is fine, but we had to ask what the soup of the day was. - I called in earlier in the day to see if there were any cancelations so that we could dine a little earlier, or if we could be put on a wait list for cancelations. The lady said they would call us if something opened up, but neither took my name nor number. Maybe she meant they'd call telepathically? AMBIANCE: our party of 6 was seated in a LOUD, tight, central hallway between the kitchen door, bathroom doors, & the hostess computer kiosk - at 6:45, our reservation time. In spite of our objections, we were told that we "might" be given another table if we were willing to wait 45 minutes. The chairs' seats were collapsing (I sat on my handbag so that I was able to reach over the table in front of me) and wait staff crashed into the back of our chairs as they rushed by. Loud, guffawing parties of men gathered in front of the bathroom doors, feet from our table. Highly unusual tuba solo Muzak was layered in behind the clamour. FOOD: We skipped starters because none could be shared with the whole table due to lack of a gluten free choice. Mains: (1) Fondue that's not fondue by any culinary definition. (2) my salad w/ salmon - asked for w/dressing on side, arrived with dressing - they righted that quickly, so. (3) "Vegetarian" option was a pasta described as having broccoli, mushrooms, and tomatoes in white sauce. What arrived was cool, beige, cat-foodish, slurry with no visible broccoli. Noside,nogarnishinedible. My friend is used to being treated this way when asking for a veg option, so he said nothing. Neither he or I was paying the check at this family dinner, so I don't know what they charged for that dog's dinner. Shameful. (4), (5), & (6) stuffed salmon with tons of cream & cheese - those of our party love that kind of thing. SERVICE: Mains took an hour to arrive, during which we witnessed a spectacular crash to the floor of a fully laden server who was over-burdened, hurrying, and had a disability that should have put him in a different role. A server came to my side to joke that I should be glad we weren't moved to another table because if we had been, "we wouldn't have gotten dinner and a show!" We're NEVER going back. read more

The menu looks good and, with one exception, the food was great. My wife ordered a salad and the leaves were wilted. She told the waitress and gave her back the salad she barely touched. The waitress still charged us full price for something we didn't like nor eat. I expected one of two options: replace the salad or take it off our tab. So, I deducted the cost of the salad from the tip. I wonder if the kitchen even knew about the problem. Waiters and waitresses should scan the food before giving it to the customer rather than serve it, and hope there are no complaints. I hope the waiters and waitresses feel comfortable communicating complaints. It was my first time visiting. However, we visit three times a year, own a vacation rental, and provide recommendations to our guests. I cannot, in all goods conscience, recommend this place without sharing my negative experience. Especially after spending so much money on a meal, the expectations naturally go up. Don't tarnish all the good things about your establishment with very preventable, and inexpensive, remedies. read more
