I live in Chesterfield . I thought it was sort of cute that this guy was making soup and sandwiches and pizzas . that is until Thanksgiving when they were doing meals . I have to say that I have never had a better Thanksgiving dinner better: better prepared better proportions even better presented! And then I discovered his soups . Oh my god! This guy is not a cook: he's a chef . My favorite thing is asking him about the soup he will describe how to make the broth in such detail that if I was smart enough to take notes I could steal the recipe of of course it wouldn't taste as good. The staff and I hate to use that word because it sounds so formal , is always one step ahead of you in terms of what you need or what you want. They are friendly and nice and welcoming . This is one of my favorite places to go shopping in the hill towns have a great Bakery wide variety of gluten-free items so whenever I stop in there, I always put an order in in advance because my daughter does gluten-free and says that is the best she's ever had. We also have pizza sandwiches and soups. I do a lot local ingredients but that's really nice too. read more

Highly recommend the breakfast sandwiches here. Very very good. There is inside seating or you can do takeout. There are tons of beers and wines on offer for sale in addition to things like scones and muffins. There's also coffee. There's a huge backspace for more additional seating. Chesterfield General Store has the best pizza in the area! It's a New York like pizza, with thin and puffy crust. They put olive oil on the pizza to give it an extra little touch of pizzazz. The service here is great, everyone is super nice, very friendly too. The owner is from New York, (which is why the pizza is so good!). They also make very good sandwiches with good bread. Plus, if you are still look for a New York treat, they also have stuffed Bialy's for breakfast and lunch. It is super hard to tell where it is because it comes up very suddenly on the road. It is super nice in there, you can see the staff making the pizzas from the wood fire oven. This place is great, definitely recommend giving it a try, (Especially their pizza)! read more

Insanely good brick oven sourdough pizza. I would go out of my way (again) to come have a little pizza picnic here. Wow wow wow one of the best pizzas I've ever had. And I got a grape macaron at the last minute - homemade, big, and WOW- the texture and flavor! Melted in my mouth and tasted like a better grape crush soda! INCREDIBLE! Highly recommend everything. The food is amazing all of it. There breakfast sandwiches on freshly baked bialys and you can have one anytime of the day. The lunch sandwiches on freshly baked country white sourdough bread made fresh every morning. You can pick a deli sandwich and make it your own or you can pick one of there amazing sandwiches. The soups when they have them are also amazing. The pizzas are amazing, both red and white pizzas and so many topping options. My favorite is the red or white pizza with bacon, chili peppers, pepperoni, sausage, raw onions. All the baked goods are made at the store by an amazing baker. They have muffins, scones, cookies, cheesecake, macarons, carrot cake and they change it up every week so you have to stop in or go on their facebook to see what's there. The staff are like an amazing crazy family you didn't know you wanted. You can joke with them, they always seem happy, and sassy at the same time if that makes sense. If you're eating there you order then sit down and just listen to them all joking in the kitchen. The food comes out at a decent time. I could sit in the store all day and listen to them. The atmosphere it just feels like home no mater what time of day you come in to see them. Definitely a stop and chill place to be. read more

I visited western Massachusetts for a few days in July. During my trip I was told I had to had to try the Chesterfield General Store. I'm very glad I did b/c almost everything they make is fire . I went back 2x while I was in Massachusetts because the sandwiches were just that good. The pastries are also excellent and I believe they are baked on premise. read more

chesterfield general has been my go-to spot for the 2 years I've lived here now. I've pretty much tried all of their menu and nothing has been a miss. everything is good. pizza and sandwiches are all on their homemade sourdough crust/bread. they have the BEST reuben I've ever had. when I don't get the reuben i switch off between the mufaletta, eggplant sandwich, and a build your own turkey sandwich. all the sandwiches have generous portions of meat, and all their food has high quality ingredients and is freshly made. we're talking kalamatas instead of black olives when you ask for olives as a pizza topping. you are getting your money's worth when you go here, and you will not be disappointed. the baked goods are worth mentioning as well- I love the croissants, oatmeal cream pies, croissant cinnamon rolls, carrot cake (which is NEVER dry), and the macarons! I assume everything is made in house which is probably why it's so dang good. read more

Love, love, love this place. We order pizza here regularly - it's delicious. Our favorites are white or red pizza with tomatoes and fresh basil and red pizza with sweet sausage, bacon, pepperoni and olives. Their crust is excellent! It's the only place in town and very popular, so call and order before you go. Check their Facebook page for specials. P.S. their breakfast sandwiches are also amazing! Yummy! So I came here for a sandwich while looking for a new home. Omg. I had the Ruben and WOW. Delicious! Now, I just moved into the area and was nervous about getting a good pizza. Cute little country store. They have everything you could need for a quick pickup in this area, but we stopped for the wood fired pizza. Sourdough crust was delicious 7.8 rating. Only downside was their slow ordering system, but considering the location they can get backed up pretty easily. Overall a great place to visit. read more

We pass through Chesterfield 2-3 times a year, and make a point to stop here for a wonderful breakfast sandwich served on their own home made hearth-baked breads. In October we were early and the only bread available for an egg and sausage sandwich was their vegetable bialy. OMG what a meal! It was far and away the best breakfast sandwich we've ever had. We stopped in today and asked if we could get those again, and also were delighted to find that they sell small batch flours from a family farm in Montana, at a very reasonable price. The service was cheerful and personable, and in consideration of social distancing, we opted to dine in our car. The wonderful proprietor surprised us curbside by offering us a complimentary home made cinnamon roll, which she assured us "is addicting". No exaggeration, the best I've ever had. What a gem! The store/cafe has an espresso bar, brick oven wood fired pizza and sourdough bread and fabulous baked goods (carrot cake is to die for). Prices are really good especially for the gourmet pizza, $14!!? Pre-covid you could eat inside at cozy tables or at the bar (great local brews as well). Really friendly staff and they gave my child a free hot chocolate! So worth stopping in for a grilled Rueben to go on your way to the Gorge. read more
