TLDR: DO NOT go to this doctor for implants or anything serious!…read more I started going to Four Corner Dental in August of 2022 when I moved to the area. I needed a general dentist and also a dentist that does implants. The dental hygienists were all great! However, my experience with getting an implant crown was not as good. The surgeon who put it in was great and kind, but my experience getting the crown after by Dr. Moutevelis was very rough. The cost of a crown on an implant here is 3k, so not cheap and very similar in price to practices that specialize in only implants. However, the whole crown process here was confusing and very painful for me. The doctor didn't seem to know what he was doing, and told me that this was his first time with this brand of implant. Getting my crown in hurt terribly. They gave me pain relief and it still hurt like hell. After leaving the office, I went through three weeks of pain. The first time I called for their help they told me to wait it out since pain is normal (not true at all with my new crown). I couldn't even sleep well because my whole jaw hurt bad, all my teeth ached constantly, not just the implant. My jaw hurt sharply when I opened my mouth because the contacts were way too tight. I couldn't even floss. I came back in 5 times, getting several adjustments and still had pain when eating and sleeping. He even shaved neighboring teeth without telling me, I found out because my teeth felt like sandpaper (this was probably necessary but I would like to be informed). Dr. Moutevelis didn't seem to know what was wrong or why it hurt. I was desperate and I got a second opinion, who informed me the tooth was too wide on the abutment/bottom and was pushing on my bone which caused the pain. He could tell immediately when looking at an X-ray. The second opinion recommended I find a different dentist. I got a new crown from another doctor in three weeks with no pain at all as soon as I left. Do not get implant crowns here, it's expensive (around the same as the specialty I went to for the fix) and they lack the experience or confidence needed. Their equipment was also "old school" as my new dentist described. To their credit, Dr. Moutevelis did apologize and refund me when I requested it. But people looking for implants or implant crown replacements should look somewhere else

I live about 10 minutes away from the office, so I left with time to spare. I did not realize that I would encounter a detour that resulted in me being 20 minutes late for my appointment. I called ahead to alert the office and received a warm greeting; "That is fine, I will let the doctor know." I went to the appointment and I no more than sat in my chair when I was called back. As I walked to the treatment room, several employees said hello and called me by name. (Grant it I'm not a frequent flyer at the office, I normally show up every six months.) I sat in the chair and within a minute Dr. McCarthy came in with a smile to say hello and asked how my husband was doing. (My husband is also a patient.) Dr. McCarthy went straight to the procedure and within 15 minutes, I was finished. He explained what he had done and what to expect, but he also went on to say that we have patched the tooth before and we may want to consider a more long term solution. He offered to go ahead with impressions so if I decided to move forward with the long term solution, I would not have to come back to the office. As I was leaving, his wife (who is also a dentist at the practice) yelled goodbye down the hallway and called me by name. From start to finish, I felt that I was part of a family. They made me feel welcome, no matter if I was late for the appointment. Everyone from start to finish made me feel that I was the most important part of their day. Every office should strive for this type of customer service. I have nothing but great things to say this office and highly recommend them.

He never asked about what had happened or what I had been told by the office, but just seemed focused on money (as another yelp review states below) and stated that my insurance was "weird" and "difficult" and that they had "lost money" on my like 3-minute cavity check). You need to realize that the office is in a position of power and please be respectful to everyone. A few months I called and was told that they would check on a cavity as part of my next cleaning at no additional charge (because it would take 10 seconds) and they were nice enough to move up my appointment. When I showed up for my appointment, they said they didn't have time for a cleaning and they checked inside my mouth for about 4-6 seconds and said everything was fine. I confirmed before (over the phone and in person) that it would be complementary (because it would take 10 seconds). They then charged me and billed my insurance for a full exam. The reason for this review is that the office has been frustrating and very needlessly time-consuming to work with; in addition to the phone call, on at least 4 different occasions I was told something would happen (we will call you later today of by tomorrow; we will email you in the next few hours) and nothing was done. Emails weren't sent with names in the signature so I was never sure who I was emailing with. In the future, just say "We're sorry this happened. You were told it would be a cleaning but instead we made a mistake with the schedule and we apologize for this. Good news is at we were able to do a 15-second check on your cavity we installed, and because this was only 15 seconds and because you were misled into thinking that it would be a complementary part of a cleaning, we won't be charging you or your insurance for those 15 seconds." All the dentists and orthodontists I had growing up, would check on a cavity that they installed for free if it took 5-10 seconds. If they saw something that looked more alarming we would go from there and possibly book a longer exam in the future. I may delete this review in the future, and wish everyone the best with no hard feelings. Goodbye.

Unfortunately the front desk personal Adriana loudly (and across the room with multiple patients there) stated I was uninsured and she was refusing to provide my services. I had to ask her to come over to me because I didn't feel comfortable with her shouting this across the room. I also carefully read the financial form which they had me sign and it stated they would bill for services and payment was required within 30 days. They refused to honor this despite having me sign this upon entry. When I pointed this policy out to Adriana she changed the wording to "insurance will be billed" and insisted I pay out of pocket in full right then. This experience was such a let down. Unfortunately they have changed and are no longer a helpful or polite or reliable dental provider. I would not advise that people go here.

He explained to me my options in a very clear precise way without any medical jargon. As result of that, his explanation helped me make the best possible decision about my oral needs and my finance as it relates to the excellent service and care he provided today. The only downside, my procedure started 20 minutes late despite arriving more than 30 minutes early which meant I should have deducted one star from his awesome service. So why did I still rate Dr. Hornung at Merrimack Valley Oral Surgeons with 5 stars? It is because he called me personally over the phone that same evening, a personal call, to see how I was doing. I was like, wow! That has never ever happened to me in my entire life where the doctor calls you back to check on you to see how you are doing. BOOM! 5 stars. The procedure was done before I realized it was ever even started. I was very comfortable during the entire procedure. The meds he prescribed were ready for pick up at my local pharmacy when I arrived home. I took the meds he prescribed as recommended. I feel nearly pain free and relaxed. Upon receiving the product, I went to make the payment at front end receptionist without thorough checking I was asked to pay a lot higher than what I was told. Once the work was completed the price was $272.00 more than what was quoted. I spoke with the billing department and explained what was quoted and what I agreed to pay. After several phone calls back and forth and checking with the Dr. they agreed to the price that was quoted. I was also told that they didn't accept my dental insurance because it was out of network and the work wasn't covered, therefore, I paid the (quoted) balance due in full. Today, I received a bill from them which showed that they billed my dental insurance the $272.00 and the insurance paid $177.60 with a balance due of $94.40. After speaking with the billing department again, they said that my son was over 18 years old and that he approved the work that was done. I explained that I was the one paying for it and I went with him to the consultation and approved the work, not him. They kept telling me that it was a 2 step process and that's why they charged me the extra money. I had to remind them again that I received a quoted price from the Dr. and if it was going to be more money than what was quoted, they should have included it in the initial quote. Today after going through this ordeal again, they said they would credit my account the $94.40 but still received $177.60 from my insurance which was more than what was agreed upon. Make sure when receiving a quote it's for all the work that needs to be done not just the first step.
