Chestnut Dental has been fabulous to work with. We have triplets and they have always made sure to accommodate our appointments times. Our son has William's Symdrome and they were very comfortable working with him and making him comfortable and enjoy his cleanings! He loves going to the dentist! Our daughter had her braces done with them and they were very professional and made sure we were comfortable with the payment process and appointment schedule. In February, I made a consultation for my son and was quoted a price for dental work to be done. After I agreed to the price, I made the appointment and he went back to have the work done. Once the work was completed the price was $272.00 more than what was quoted. I spoke with the billing department and explained what was quoted and what I agreed to pay. After several phone calls back and forth and checking with the Dr. they agreed to the price that was quoted. I was also told that they didn't accept my dental insurance because it was out of network and the work wasn't covered, therefore, I paid the (quoted) balance due in full. Today, I received a bill from them which showed that they billed my dental insurance the $272.00 and the insurance paid $177.60 with a balance due of $94.40. After speaking with the billing department again, they said that my son was over 18 years old and that he approved the work that was done. I explained that I was the one paying for it and I went with him to the consultation and approved the work, not him. They kept telling me that it was a 2 step process and that's why they charged me the extra money. I had to remind them again that I received a quoted price from the Dr. and if it was going to be more money than what was quoted, they should have included it in the initial quote. Today after going through this ordeal again, they said they would credit my account the $94.40 but still received $177.60 from my insurance which was more than what was agreed upon. Make sure when receiving a quote it's for all the work that needs to be done not just the first step. read more

Been using chestnut dental for almost 20 years since I was a little kid. Have had to go back several times this year to deal with some dental work. Dr. Blattman is great, as is the rest of the office staff. Very patient, always answers my questions and puts my mind at ease, considering the dentist can be a chore for a lot of people this kind of approach is what I look for in someone taking care of my teeth. read more

We have been coming to Chestnut Dental for 3+ years and always had a good experience. Today takes the cake though. Our middle kid, 6 y/o, was struggling with the dentist after having had three cavities filled, which Dr. McBride did the best job on under super difficult circumstances. His last check-up was really tough, so Ms. Kelly was prepared with all the jokes, distractions, and gentle guidance this time for a SUPER wonderful - dare I say healing - experience for our little. She also worked her magic on our 8 y/o and Ms. Amanda rounded out a wonderful day with the 4 y/o. The patience and care giving to kids cannot be overstated. I am blown away at the level of care that my children have received here. Dr. Beard is fantastic and all of the hygienists that we have seen (we have 3 girls 6,4,2) have been fantastic! I've been taking my two kids here for at least the last 6-7yrs. We usually go to Needham for regular appointments but recently went to Franklin so we could get a appointment in before school started. My 12 yr old daughter just got a couple of teeth extracted by Dr McBride, her regular dentist, in preparation for some needed orthodontic work. Dr. McBride and the hygienist, Jenny were fantastic. They talked my daughter through everything so that nothing came as a surprise. They were very kind, thorough and used humor. She had no pain during the extraction. Her recovery went great, minor discomfort later in day that was relieved with Motrin. My experiences in Needham have also been positive. My kids love Dr. McBride and the hygienists. The front desk staff is also very courteous. read more

I have gone to Chestnut Dental for over 10 years. The dentists and hygienist are very good. Almost every time I've gone, I have a billing issue which would take several phone calls to resolve. The office staff is very abrupt with you and finally the billing issues just became way too much of a hassle to deal with. At my last visit, I called to have the bill explained to me and they sent me the corrected amount. Little over three weeks later ,I received a letter from the billing office which was incredibly rude saying my balance was outstanding and being sent to collections and my children would be terminated from their service if it wasn't paid immediately. I felt such a letter was very extreme and outrageous for a loyal customer of 10 years. I wouldn't recommend this dental practice to anyone due to the numerous billing mistakes and problems and the difficulty getting it sorted out. read more

My three kids were going here, twice they scheduled cleanings too close to previous appointment and my insurance did not cover. Never had this issue at any other dentist as they confirm work is covered prior to appointment. Additionally I paid them for some dental work and found out 4 months later that my insurance had paid them and I was overcharged. Disappointed I had to call them in order to get funds given back, I guess they wanted to be paid twice for the work. read more

My kids have been going to Chestnut Dental since they were toddlers. Their Pediatric practice is outstanding. They make the kids feel so at ease. We couldn't be happier with with the service we have received. Dr McBride is the best!! Both my kids had braces and they now have beautiful straight teeth. Dr. Chaison did a fantastic job. The people working the front desk are very pleasant and do their best to work around the kids busy schedules. I highly recommend this practice!! read more

This is my first experience with pediatric dental and my son unfortunately needed some work. They are so kiND and my child had the undivided attention of the dentist plus 2 assistants for his procedures. Even after the first procedure (traumatic for me) he still didn't mind going back for the second one. They are a little over the top with appointment reminders but that is fine with me..I need all the reminders I can get sometimes! read more

Have been taking my kids there for years and they always do a great job. Too my 9yr old daughter there today because she had an abscess and needed her tooth pulled. The dentist and assistant were so incredibly kind and compassionate. They explained what they were going to do in a way that calmed my daughters nerves. And then followed up with a phone call tonight to make sure everything was ok. Would highly recommend them!! read more

Chestnut Pediatric Dental is terrible. It is a factory- a nightmare to get appointments. The office staff is not friendly at all. The hygienist are hit or miss. We have had a couple of good ones but a couple that are just plain mean. At our last visit the hygienist told me I could not come in the room with my other children. It is a pediatric dental office! She was just plain RUDE! That was the last straw after years of going there. The Dentist are okay but you never see the same one so hard to say if they are good or not. So happy to never have to deal with that place again. We found a new dentist office (in the same building). We LOVE them. Of course money hungry Chestnut charged $30 to send the dental records and they did not even send all of the information needed. The new Dental office has a wonderful office staff and ALL of the hygienist were super nice to my children. Wish I had made the change earlier. read more

I am the biggest wimp when it comes to going to the dentist. I get super anxious even for just a cleaning. Everyone at Chestnut Dental has been so supportive and kind! There treat me with kid gloves and respect. I still don't like going to the dentist, but I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

Had 2 perfect experiences at this dentist office where the staff was amazing with my 3 year old son. Today however was not one of those experiences. We were 10 min late. My son had soiled his diaper in the car in the way to the dentist so I had to change him when we got there. Rightfully so, the dental hygienist was upset that we were now 20 min late. It stressed her out so much though that she did NOT do a great job with my son. She was in a huge rush and it was my job to get my son to cooperate. She even forgot to give him a toothbrush and toothpaste before we left. If you go to this dentist office, please please make sure you are not late!!! You will be disappointed if you are. read more

They have some crazy policy in which they won't see kids under the age of 6 in the later afternoon. This is nuts if you have a kid in Kindergarten in Franklin because they don't get off the bus until 3. They won't see a kindergarten student at 3:30 or later if the kid is 5 years old, even though they go to school in the same class as kids who are 6. This office appears to be perpetuating some mythology that kids under the age of 6 don't do well at dentist offices in the late afternoon. I spoke to a doctor about this who was shocked that a dentist office would have such a policy. It's amazing the fact that no one else shares this idea that kids under the age of 6 (arbitrary cut off) don't do well in the afternoon--doctors offices, music lessons, dance lessons, etc.--hasn't affected this primitive thinking. I have decided that I don't want my child going to a pediatric practice that has such a limited understanding of children. (The truth is that it entirely depends on the kid and some kids are in better moods in the afternoon, some at night, some in the morning, etc. Some kids are more patient than others, no matter what the age.) Their main recommendation was to take my kid out of school to come to an earlier appointment (which obviously schools don't like and sends the wrong message about the importance of school since I don't believe a child should think that school is less important than anything other than an emergency) or to a Saturday appointment (I work on Saturdays). Based on this arbitrary policy about kids under the age of 6, it appears to me this office seems to think their patients are there to serve their arbitrary ideas rather than this office being there to serve their patients. It's a shame. read more
