    Dark quarter chicken and fries

BEST FRIED CHICKEN!!! My husband and I stopped at this place while traveling through Minnesota. First of all the story behind this gem is a family owned business passed through the years, but with the same charm and great service. It's is a smaller place, but the are able to accommodate large parties. ( make a reservation if you have big group!) with its timeless charm the prices are very fair and generous. They have a salad bar option with all sorts of goodies! Including homemade dressings and chocolate mousse. Another thing I ate without taking a picture is the homemade fried onions rings! Must try- they also have chicken gizzards that are handmade, prime rib thurs, fri, sat- and you can get specials with 2 meats for under $30!! Who can say they get prime rib and a quarter chicken dinner for that! They do close for the winter season the Saturday before thanksgiving and reopen in the spring (around the brining of April.) Note: they are cash only, but they do have an ATM.

Few meals conjure up more anticipation for this foodie than an annual trek to Chet's Lakeside Inn in the lake country of Northern Minnesota. It is like Chet's got stuck in a time warp...maybe in the 1950s...serving up some of the best Swedish-style chicken anywhere this side of Stockholm. Tonight I ordered the half chicken - all white meat - broiled - with a baked potato and a bottle of Minnesota-brewed Grain Belt beer. Life is good at Chet's of Parker's Prairie, Minnesota. Chet's earns a nickel all day long.

    1/4 chicken and mashed potatoes.

Best fried chicken on the planet. Ribs are a close second. If your heart can take it, give the onion rings a go as well

The service of all the bartenders and wait staff was above and beyond 5 stars! I was seated where I could watch kitchen and I observed the 1 and only cook handle food without gloves (FDA recommends avoiding bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods) and boasted chicken is considered just that. There was a very bare simple menu so I ordered a cheeseburger and chips and he got the white chicken. I literally saw cook put the chicken in basket bare-handed and let my husband know that while he brought our order to window and I watch waitress bring over. My cheeseburger was well over-done as was the grilling of the bun which I ate some due to not having eaten and didn't want to wait longer, but the chicken was so overcooked that you could barely use fork to peel away a bite on the breast. When he finally got a bite, it was so dry that even dipping in ranch didn't help. The outside was very dark considered to other places we've gotten chicken from. Now, I was very impressed with the service compared to prior years at watermelon days, but the food was much better. I did see staff going back to try to help, so bonus stars for that. My husband did talk to owner who was very understanding and seems to really care about her bar and restaurant, and had 2 breasts remade but they ended up to be the same way unfortunately. Maybe for bigger crowds, have more people in kitchen the whole time so food is not overcooked for which should be discounted some to customers that do receive it that way. Next year we will eat at cafe or drive to Battle Lake before street dance.

The new owners are very friendly and my husband spoke favorably of the changes inside. (He picked up the order.) Said it would be a really nice place to watch a game, etc. As to the food. The chicken was very moist and hot, but for us it was disappointing as to taste. A little bland for us. We kind of felt the same way about the potatoes. The coleslaw was fine but nothing special. Chicken places are a dime a dozen in the area and there are others that we prefer. But I could also see why this option would be preferable to some people. We still intend to try the place again and try some other things on the menu and perhaps watch a game.

This isn't "fine" dining, but more like upscale homemade cooking. Because of the prices and food quality I am giving it 4 stars. (Very good). This isn't a once a year or just special occasion place, it's an every other week place. Can dress casual or nice. Lounge and dining areas, but Lounge is nice. Wood fired grill. Food was just right, not charred, but had a good Smokey flavor (not overwhelming). BBQ meatball apps were great, different nightly specials. Ribs and chicken were great! Ribs fell off the bone, fat had melted away, and bbq sauce was just right. Chicken tender and juicy. Cornbread muffin tasted off the shelf but fine (nice size but need to nail the cornbread as it isn't hard and compliments bbq so well). Drinks were good and priced for 2nd's. My wife loved her Prime Rib sandwich. The popover was sweet and delicious. Great variety on the menu and service was great! Not a place you have to ask for things on the side or can you remove that. They appear to know what's important and nail those, with no negatives. Thank you for dessert (lava cake). Best way to put it, if we lived closer, I would be a regular.

It gives off the vibe of a sports bar but also a place to sit and have a casual meal. The fried pickles came out hot and crispy and they were wonderful! Even after sitting and munching on them after 5 minutes the ones that were still in the basket were still warm. The PB+J burger was amazing! It has a nice little kick with every bite you took. It had the perfect amount of spicy that wasn't too overwhelming. The BBQ wings were also very good! Cooked to perfection and had the perfect amount of sauce on them. The cheese balls were really good but had too much cheese in each bite you took. The cheese balls were also much larger than what we were thinking they were going to be. Roughly the size of a golf ball. The service was splendid. There was one waiter and bartender working while we ate but you wouldn't have guessed that by how fast our drinks and food came out. Our waiter was very attentive and checked in on us, while waiting on every other table in the building. If you are passing through town this is definitely a place to try out!
