Small town huge flavor: Stop in tonight at one of my absolute favorite Midwest eateries, Woodys Bar & Grill by far has the best Ribs in central MN but you are good whatever you order there ~ I make it a point to stop in when I'm in Greenwald hanging with family. Great food, awesome service and great prices! I strongly recommend this small town gem

Stopped in on a Wednesday night. Ordered some chow and a drink. The proprietor was friendly and happy to see strangers. Food was fresh and the specials are appealing. Free popcorn too!

Very tasty food. Love the walleye. You can have pan fried or lightly breaded. Modern/rustic decor and peaceful but plenty of happy diners.

He definitely has a winner with his barbecue sauce and his meat preparation for outstanding barbecue ribs. And did I mention the coleslaw is so delicious. They were doing a fair amount of to go orders though. We both had the 3 meat combo. I had brisket, saint louis style ribs and buffalo wings. This comes with 2 sides and cornbread. I opted to bbq baked beans and cheesy potatoes. My husband opted for dry (not tossed) wings and mac and cheese. It was also wing it Wednesday so wings were just $1.25 each. The wings were full wings and very meaty. The brisket was fall apart tender and the ribs had just the right amount of tenderness. Everything had good flavor. The cheesy potatoes were a little bland though. Our waitress was excellent! She checked on us often and was vey friendly. There was easily enough food for 2 meals. We would definitely go back again.

I went there twice on a recent vacation. Family member considers this "the only sit down restaurant…read morein town" which says something since there appear to be two sports bars right next door. As far as parking, there is street parking right off the road in front of the restaurant/strip. This was almost always taken, though more was available with a walk. Not clear where other parking would be to me nor their website. Our second visit we parked across the street at the library/police station and did not get ticketed. Yelp says they have validated parking but I am suspect of this fact but for us didn't matter. First visit ordered a bunch of pizzas for a party. They were good and big as advertised however expensive. Their pies are mostly flat rate and the toppings just add on to the price. I generally find pizza purchased this way to be more expensive as well however a lot of places do it this way. Without comparing literally, I'd say their normal pie was about the equiv of an XL and their small was about the equiv of a medium. Pizza was steaming hot when we got it and by the time we got home was the perfect temp (for me). Was consumed with due appreciation. While I do think it was good, as far as comparing price vs deliciousness, I mathed out the same pizzas (ignoring exact size difference) vs Albany Pizzaria would be about 50% more from here. Having been to both places, I do not think the pizza was 50% better and the locals agreed. Also, maybe coincidentally, a number of the party goers had stomach issues the next 24 hours. That could have been anything (other foods were shared as well as just human contact) but it makes me wary against 5*. My final ding was, while I generally love pizza crust, this ones seasoning was meh to me. I have an aversion to onion (minor allergy?) and I wonder if there was some in there. As far as the second visit, we did a sit down which was also 4* IMO. The entrance opens into a small waiting area (where we picked up the pizza) with a clear sign to wait to be seated. We were seen fairly fast but told to seat ourselves and they'd come take our order. The menu actually says you order up front and they bring it to you, not sure if this changed and the menu was dated or we were special tbh. Still looking for that replacement perfect bbq place, I ordered the 3 meat plate (ribs, brisket, pulled pork). I was boggled why you cannot substitute fries into the sides. The waitress/host tried to explain it but I still don't get it. So your sides are "limited" even though they have them on the menu. Chips and queso are also sold seperate, so if you want both that's 2 sides. I went with coleslaw and mac&cheese both were good. The mac did not sell me enough to future try their mac bowls but it wasn't bad. I also got a cranberry juice which came in the bottle. This unspokenly said no refills but also that I was paying $3 for the bottle, which is one thing I don't like about people just bringing me a bottle of something. Anyway, the ribs were great, I'd probably get a rack next time, the brisket was good and the pulled pork was super dry and not good IMO. The sauce did make up for it a little but I had 3 meats to distribute it between. Good BBQ I've heard and believe the meat should stand alone. My SO got a burrito mojado with barbacoa and liked it. Also got the (limited) hibiscus lemonade and liked that too, apparently could tell which is good. Cost $4. Since no drink refills, we only saw our server three times, food delivery, one checkin and once to buss. Payment was in the front as well; we had to ask. Their website at time we went said closed Sunday but the hours here did not. I called and they were open so I'd trust here vs the website tho they may fix it. Close hours were early for me but it's a small town :) Very few people besides us too and many left before we even got our food. Maybe we just eat late. Anyway, no stomach issues on the second visit, but all in all a few things (described above) left it shy of 5* for my tastes.

She helped guide our menu choices and made my son's graduation dinner a truly memorable night. We loved the chicken and pulled pork with a lovely tamarind sauce on the side. This is the best BBQ I've found in the lake region of the north woods or anywhere else in the state for that matter. Their U.G.L.Y. Cheesecake Company desserts are not to be missed. Top Line: Dine-in dinner at Jr's "new digs" in the old Brick House Pizza building in Brainerd delivered well smoked meats, tasty sides, and wondrous desserts. Decor is tasteful and a solid step or three above most BBQ or pizza joints. Subdued color palette, spacious seating, and stone fireplace contributed to casual laid-back ambiance. Space was easily quiet enough for casual conversation, since most folks were doing take out orders & not populating the tables or booths. My dining partner had the chopstick chicken salad of romaine lettuce, Mandarin orange sections, tomatoes, walnuts, & chow mein noodles topped with lots of grilled chicken & an Asian dressing. Portion was generous, to say the least. I ordered a smoked brisket plate with a couple sides of choice (baked beans & cole slaw for me), oversized dinner bun, & their great BBQ sauce. Iced sweet tea came with refills. I split the house baked bun to make a brisket sandwich. Owner felt brisket was over cooked (which I didn't detect), so was generous to add a couple bones of their delightful pork ribs as compensation. Special cred for the puffy bun! Very light & tender interior of brioche weight, while having a toothsome texture. But the slightly crusty top and bottom easily handled my heavy handedness with BBQ sauce to keep the sandwich intact, even when drenched with the tangy slightly sweet sauce. Brisket was distinctly smoked & literally fall apart tender. Even the bark on the burnt ends parts of the portion were pliable & toothy (vs dried out & crunchy). There was plenty of brisket for the sandwich & a bit more. Ribs, plus leftover sides, came home for lunch tomorrow. Sides were solid on taste & texture. Cole slaw was crispy & well loaded with somewhat tame dressing. Bowl of beans had bits of smoked meat (brisket?) intermingled with the tasty beans. Portions of both were generous, which seems to be a repeating theme with Jr's. Dessert cheesecake was substantial while the filling had a surprisingly light texture for something with that much heft. The lightness kept it from weighing you down after a full meal. Flavor from my Caramel Chocolate Macchiato cheesecake punched well above its weight & remained impactful to the last bite. The dominant coffee flavor ran strong but didn't overwhelm the chocolate crumb crust completely. Nice balance! Their cookies at 2-for-a-buck are a "steal of the century" contender due to the very low cost for chocolate chip cookies with a butter rich & complex flavor profile that has some unusual notes coming into play. So if you're in the Brainerd area on vacation or attending a BIR event check out the gang at Jr's No. 19 BBQ at the old Brick House Pizza location for some great BBQ and cheesecake. If you're a pizza fiend or in need some baked goods, they may still be your huckleberry du jour.
