I had always used Chet's as a homeowner so naturally, running a small community, I turned to them to get an estimate for community wide subterranean termite protection. I submitted the request online, followed up with a phone call. Every time I called it took a minute for them to understand why I was calling. I've called three times trying to follow up on getting a quote to no avail. I was told I would have something by the end of the day last Friday, still no one has contacted me. I would not recommend them whatsoever. We had our house termite tented, and then came home to two broken gutters. When I notified the local office, I was told by Carol "I don't know why we forgot to tell you to remove the bottom of the gutter, but anyways we're not going to fix them." Disgusting and unprofessional. Carol acknowledged they were in the wrong but still said they were going to do nothing about it. We're now approaching a hurricane with faulty gutters thanks to Chet's. Myself and my fiancée both own local businesses here in tampa, and wanted to support another local business, but this place should be ashamed of themselves. Contacted Chet's for pest control. Had to repeatedly reschedule for life issues as our home had a fire and death in the family. Finally found a date that would work for us. Spent a day preparing for pest treatment by emptying entire kitchen and called to ask a question and to confirm the appointment. They had cancelled our appointment weeks ago and I am finding out the day before the treatment. Never received a supposed phone call from them with the cancellation. Explained our circumstances, especially with our home catching partially on fire and death in the family. Chet's simply doesn't care about people, they showed no concern and would not reschedule for us, wouldn't take our business. This is horrible business practice. If I want to sign a contract to pay for something, take my money. If I decide I can't handle the appointments, still take my money. ago Had our home tented and fumigated by Chet's, and I pay annually to maintain a warranty. Excellent value, however, if you plan to refinance your home, use another company. Chet's doesn't provide the required inspection, and when other companies finds proof of termites, your refi loan will be held up for weeks before Chet's can begin their assessment to consider treatment. Hired Chet's to do a termite tenting of our home - went with them for the low price ... you get what you pay for. They missed the pre-appointment call, I called them ... Guy at the office said he'd called 4 times, went to voicemail and didn't leave a message. Why not? They came to do the service and I noticed remotely they'd parked in the front yard through my blink cameras. I called the office immediately and asked they ensure no other yard parking as they might damage septic. Minutes later all internet (cameras, locks and lights) went dark. Within minutes of my calling. Monday comes and I call to ask why no internet at the house. No clear answer ... talk of a downed wire? Had to call several times for an update. Turns out they'd unplugged the router to connect a fan for ventilation. I understand what the fan is for. But, why wouldn't you look for an empty receptacle to plug in your fan ... why unplug the router? Tuesday morning notice some of the plants are yellowing. Entire property prepared similarly, but the one spot they likely missed keeping the plants out, they hold you to their guidelines strictly - do what works for them ... regardless of customer impact. Through the day Monday I spoke with the office manager and she lacked any sensibility toward working with customers. Rule #1 - customer is always right. Doesn't mean you give everything they want, but you do acknowledge, take ownership and apologize when appropriate. Tuesday followed up on the plants and her response is to push back on ownership through their policy. Then the absolute peak of pettiness ... she sends me an image of the policy she is quoting. Do not make the same mistake I made of going with the lowest price - if this is your budget be ready to have a company with no frills, no customer awareness be the watcher of your home and your belongings. Hard not to take this personally when they were in my home, doing what they chose with my cameras/router and enforcing policy to the letter when it gives them cover. WORST CUSTOMER EXPEREINCE EVER ... Buyer beware. read more

Do Not use! They damaged my property during treatment and refuse to repair the damages (front door, fence, patio area and so on). Provided pictures and documentation. The damages are more than the cost of services. Multiple companies have come out and all stated that the damage by Chet's contractors weakened the door jam and deadbolt and cannot be repaired. The door needs to be replaced. Also, the manufacturer states that it's a 12+ month wait for the door once reordered through Lowes. Safe yourself the massive headache and use another company. read more

I knew I needed a termite treatment (tenting), and one day a Chet's truck was at neighbor's house. I walked over and asked about the approximate cost, and the gentleman asked me to give them a few minutes and they'd take look. Well, basically he brought along the guy with him who was being trained and worked with on measuring my house and providing an estimate on the spot. They had good reviews and the estimate was inline with the others I got. The same gentleman helped me understand the preparation required, and we planned and did the tenting over a weekend. The only issue I had was that when we came back in (about 2 hours after they told us it was clear) there was still clearly some residual tear gas around. Otherwise, it was a smooth process. Despite having a very wonderful exterminator come to my home, the bug issue has persisted even with an in-between scheduled visit. I have requested contact with the owner as it does not make sense to continuously request re-spraying and paying for an ineffective service. Guys- he has been to my place like 5 times and the last time was literally two weeks ago AND YET the problem persists. I recommend going with a bigger company who can actually get the job done. Every call I made or question I had was answered with care and patience... anytime I called the office or personally asked Karl. All paperwork was clear. Process of tenting and prep was easy. So good. Life is busy... there was no hassle or lack of care/ info from Chet's. After the tenting was smooth. Every piece of the picture was perfect...clean house, windows shut, nothing broken. Karl's handwritten note in the mail topped the cake. I have zero complaints. I am i no way affiliated or even a friend... until I had this tenting service. I never ended up hiring them to complete our tenting because of the experience I had with their sales rep Danny. Long story short, when I asked Danny, a Chet's employee, if our dog walker was at the house when he arrived, he referred to her as "the colored girl". I was so taken aback by how he referenced her race, that I didn't even know what to say. I went through the rest of the meeting and ended up calling the office the next day to voice my concerns. Instead of apologizing for is blatant ignorance, the lady made excuses about how old he was, basically said he has no filter, and that he didn't know that was something inappropriate to say. She also mentioned that Chet himself is married to a black woman, and that Danny couldn't be racists. I was going to let sleeping dogs lie and just wasn't going to hire them, but Danny called me a few days ago to follow up on our meeting and see if we would be moving forward. I told him no, and that I had hired another company. He asked who I hired, and when I told him the name of the company, he laughed and said "your using them for your pest control services." I said yes, and then he asked if I was using them to treat my subterranean termites as well, to which I kindly reminded him he said I didn't have. Danny is a rude, ignorant, and joke of a salesman. He is the ONLY reason Chet's did not get my business. And the fact that Chet's allows an employee to behave in that manner says A LOT about the company. read more

Tented our Home which failed to kill the termites. Then Chet's refused to refund our money or re-tent the home. Very disappointing since I've used them for years at multiple properties. No regard for a long time customer. Avoid doing business with Chet's. They'll respond that we were outside of our termite warranty, but not true, we found termites within 6 months of their initial tenting. read more

(( Update: Carol was able to get the fence repaired, and our current HOA management is poor, that's no lie. I bumped my review to three stars to reflect the update. It did still take many moons to get that last repair done. And I'd still.be wary of Magnum. It's worth stating that this review is for the job as a whole, start to finish, and not a comment on Chet's personnel. Carol was always pleasant to speak with. Original review follows... )) Chet's came in almost $600 less than the next closest quote we received for the tenting of our 5 unit townhome building. Based on the personal service a few of us had with Chet's we were comfortable going with them. What the Chet's rep didn't make obvious was the small print on the contract that they use Magnum - a company we chose to avoid due to their abysmal ratings everywhere - to do the actual tenting. Chet's is only a middleman. That's on all of us for missing that. However, we found that our concerns were warranted. Here's the full list of things that weren't right: - Resident ladder (stored in another room) was used to go into the attic. Ladder was left in the hallway and loose insulation was left on the floor around it. - Exterior light was knocked over, located 4 feet from the building - Gate was left open, tied off with some rusty wire - Plastic sprinkler head located 3 feet from stoop was knocked over and broken. - Folding chair in garage was used to stand on to unplug garage door power cord. - Power cords for garage doors were left unplugged, unraveled and hanging. - Beer can was left near the front stoop. - Exterior spigot was broken off, leaving unit without water service. - 3 foot section of fence damaged and removed. - Fence cap cracked To Chet's credit they did have a plumber out quickly to repair the spigot. It's been three months and despite a half dozen calls with Carol and repeated assurances, none of the fence damage has been fixed. We were given numerous excuses for the delays in the repair. Carol apologized for Magnum on all accounts and assured us that she had a conversation with them about the misc issues but not sure that actually happened. Three months is a silly amount of time to wait for a simple repair. We've now referred it to our HOA for them to go after Chet's. It's a real shame because their single-home service had been to my address several times and were exceptional. We're all left wondering if the warranty we received is actually any good, or if we'll experience the same aloof run-around that we've had with the last remaining issue from Magnum. read more
