I absolutely love coming to this gas station. Sounds weird, right? Lol. I know, I know. But.... the man who works here is amazing. He always allows us to use the bathroom even if we don't buy anything. We always do because that is our quid pro quo unbeknownst to him. The bathrooms are always clean. If you need a phone charger for any brand because you forgot yours, it's here! He has coffee, snacks, gas, and much more! Lady at the register was a little rude and condescending. If your credit machine doesn't work right, maybe write a note and place it on there for additional instructions instead of being rude to me because the credit machine wasn't working and I didn't know and you told me to tap my card instead of inserting it after I had already done so. I'm also a little hard of hearing so me saying "what?" because you spoke too low for me to hear correctly and you saying "never mind" was frustrating. I wouldn't ask for you to repeat something if I heard you. Usually the people in Idyllwild are incredibly nice and I've come to this gas station before with no problems with the man who works here. But due to this experience I'll be going to Shell from now on. read more

The gas was a little more expensive than other areas but what do you expect in the mountains. Being in Idyllwild as long as you don't have car troubles, all you need is gas and this place got the job done. My boyfriend had to go to the restroom before our trip home and while fueling he went to the bathroom. He came back without having gone he said it was just not worth going in. I can imagine it must be really hard and not fun to keep a restroom at a gas station clean. We didn't have to interact with any employees while he just a quick in and out and this place got the job done. read more

They were super nice and extremely knowledgeable when I came in and was about to buy chains. The worker asked if my car was compatible with chains, came over to look at it, said he didn't think it was. Checked the car's manual, and he was right. The Guy sitting inside of the gas station just watched me prepare to get gas and never said anything to me. And then when I went to speak to him, he barely acknowledged me. Am in Idlewild for the weekend and my battery died. Fortunately I was at the hardware store across the street from the Idyllwild Garage. I walked over and placed a service order with AAA and within about 10 minutes my car was started and over to the garage. I met Steve Friemoth and John Friemoth, the owners. Super nice and very helpful. John tested my alternator which was fine and suggested a two hour charge and then he would test if it held the charge. It was pouring rain and John offered to drive me home which was perfect. Turned out the battery needed to be replaced which he did, partially under warranty, and then he picked me up from home and brought me back to the gas station to pick up my car exactly when he promised. Avoid coming here. My most recent case was a part quoted for $460 when it was really $30. They didn't realize that they were selling to a reporter who does their research. About a year before my mother was charged $200 for two used tires (wrong size) and windshield wipers. There is also a reputation among us car savy locals that you can't walk out of that garage without spending $300, no matter what work was done. Doing business, taking advantage of high demand, and no competition is expected, but this is too far. read more

easy to get to right off the highway, of course more pricey, but what to you expect when 30 miles in the middle of the mountains :)
