This little market hidden up in pine cove is an absolute gem. Not only does it stock a varied selection of drinks and spirits, it is FILLED with imported candies, chips, sodas & everything is reasonably priced. If they had more vegan snacks or a vegan snack section this place would be 5 stars for me. They have great music and unique selection! This market may seem small when you're padding by or pumping gas.. but eyes can be deceiving! When I went inside I couldn't believe how much it had to offer once I was inside looking around. It has little of a lot of what you might need for a quick stop on your way to your weekend cabin rental or heading down the hill to go home on a Sunday afternoon. Always greeted with a hello and a smile! I live in Idyllwild but still go to this little market that downstairs know it's little! I only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I think there's a few things there that aren't really popular anymore that I would replace with newer items. read more

While staying in Idyllwild, we needed to make a run to a local market. First one we chose didn't allow pets. I went on Yelp to see if there were any other markets in the area that would allow pets. Saw the Pine Cove Market allowed pets so we made a quick run there and it was worth the trip. Not only did we pick up what we needed, the friendly gentleman running the register came out from behind the counter and offered our Autumn a treat. She was a happy girl. Super friendly - had everything we needed (even coffee filters). Good selection of ice cream, plenty of ice, and even had Vitamin Water!

This tiny little market just north of Idyllwild always has the cheapest gas around... always. And my dear sweet husband is always skeptical about it too until he buys it. He mutters, "they probably just didn't change the signs out front" and then it ends up being *at least* $.20 cheaper than everyone else around. The clerks are friendly and usually have interesting tidbits to share with you when you check out. One female employee mentioned that she enjoys flying out of Palm Springs compared to most airports in the L.A. area. The local newspaper (Idyllwild Town Crier) is $1. The stand is near the entrance. Pick up a free "Explore Idyllwild Directory" here also. Cash or plastic accepted. read more

Small & mighty...I came to get gas, drinks and foil. A liter of Sprite, bottle of OJ, a power ball & aluminum foil came to $9.27. I expected them to charge at least 3x of the regular market value! The clerk was helpful, the store was clean & the drinks were cold. $2.79 gas w credit card can't be beat! Definitely keeping them as a bookmark! read more

Cheapest gas in the Idyllwild vicinity (you will be paying a little more in town). It's a 2 mile trek to get here from Idyllwild. The pumps can back up here real quick causing a line. There are only 3 pumps I recall seeing and one of them is strictly diesel. The 87 gas pump I used wasn't working too great and I continuously had to press the lever down over and over to get the gas to fill up my tank. The automatic lock on the lever wasn't working either. I was able to get a full tank because I sorta know how much to put in my SUV based on how much I've driven. If you're not good at gauging that and the pump is still funky you're sorta screwed here. read more

This market was a go to place for us full timers on the hill...the gas was ALWAYS CHEAPER THAN HEMET! Now, the new owners are price gouging us and have jacked up the price of gas, food etc...Today I paid 4.51 a gallon in hemet and these guys are charging a dollar more a gallon! Outrageous!!! I'm done going to this ripoff market...Hemet is cheaper for gas, food, etc...I'd rather support the Hemet community than contribute to these NEW greedy owners!! Oh and $4 per gallon for propane?? Gas prices are off the hook. Cheapest in town. And the service is good. The propane is a good price as well. They got good beer in the crisper and people are pretty cool that work here. Worth hitting this place up. I shop here for sure read more

Great little convenience store, it's like a little oasis for the "cabineers" around. Prices aren't bad, there is a wood shed for fireplace wood, Gas, propane, and a small laundry mat. As for the "tool" that wanted to bring his dog in the store- yeah- he is a tool. Rules apply everywhere...Who does he think he is? Feel bad for the dog for a douche owner. read more

I went to get gas there today. There was a truck parked at the only available pump for gasoline (the other had an 'Out of Service' sign on it). I waited a while, no driver, I went into the store and there were a couple of patrons chatting with the attendant and choosing snacks, I waited a bit longer and inquired as to whether they could move so I could fill up. Waited longer, finally the two guys sauntered out and back to the truck. I asked why they felt it was OK to block a pump while they chatted and got snacks. One guy, the driver, I assume, got belligerent and said he would not move. Then he said he had not even got gas yet. Yes, I was not happy and confronted him for his reconsideration. He said he worked there, and that he was not moving and would call the cops because I wanted him to quit hogging THE ONLY PUMP AVAILABLE to get gas. If he was just some jerk that didn't care would be one thing, but to be an EMPLOYEE and treat a paying customer like that is a whole different thing. I hope the new owners get this message from someone that has been buying gas since they reopened 15 or so years ago and learns that this small community remembers who treats them right. Gas is usually cheaper than even Arco in Banning or Hemet (usually 50cents cheaper than Chevron/Shell in Idyllwild proper, but always same price as Mountain Center since its the same owner), and staff is friendly. Pumps are open 24 hours with credit/debit although you save 10 cents a gallon paying cash. Cappuccino machine, one or two basic coffees, and a small frozen drink machine is all for non-bottled beverage options but the price is right. Can also get niche mountain stuff like fishing supplies. read more

I frequent Pine Cove often and have stopped in on the market on occasion to pick up items. This past visit has been like all the rest hence the 1 star rating. When asking the employee "How are you today?" I was the recipient of a non descript grunt with no eye contact and an unfriendly demeanor. I encounter rocks on my hikes with more personality than this young man. There is another employee there who is so engrossed in his cell phone that he has no idea someone has entered the store. You know guys......customers that enter the store is what gives you a paycheck....get it??? I'll go down the hill into Idyllwild from now on. read more

Our local go to Gas Station and market seeing as how we live less than a Mile Away...But my wife and I won't be going Back. After months and months of being treated poorly enough is finally enough. I walked in and asked for $20 on gas and the woman behind the counter (Wearing a tank top with her breasts showing and short shorts) was on her phone and ignoring me. So again I said $20 on gas please. She looked at me like I was bothering her and very rudely said "What Pump!" So I told her. Pumped my gas and got $2.88 in change. I decided to send my wife in and she got the same treatment. The staff at the market have been Nothing but rude for months now. I've served as a Riverside county Sheriff for over 15 Years and I know Druggies when I see them. It's very unfortunate seeing our Local market being staffed like this. read more

Great staff and prices! Customer service is fantastic and super helpful! Would recommend over any other place on the hill for prices and service! If you want the best deals on beer, gas, drinks, etc...this is the place to stop! I even got a year forestry pass! And a good selection of scratchers and groceries! In regards to other reviews: of course you can't bring your stupid dog into a convenience store! This is still California, tourist. And if you're up during the winters? Yes. This is the best place on the hill. The long review was wrong except for the propane not being sold after 7. that is not a big deal. They are the cheapest place to get gas on the hill and with the way gas prices are that is the place to go up here in the hill. The Chevron people are ripoffs . the only place I will go to get gas is here at the market. I always think the employees are nice. They are always nice to me. They refill your tanks unless they are over 1o years but I understand that. I like going there and always will. The owner is nice. I met him a few times. read more

Neither of these two reviews make a whole lot of sense. This is a normal connivence store that happens to have the best prices on the Hill. It is 30 cents a gallon cheaper than the competition. I drive from Idyllwild to buy gas there. It is usually cheaper than most off the hill gas stations as well. read more
