This is the Chevron Gas Station at the corner of Veterans Blvd & Main Street in Redwood City, CA. It has a food mart, a carwash, a fairly spacious lot, and multiple islands (with one pump per island). It has a nice location on Veterans Blvd, just a few blocks from Kaiser Hospital. I was just here last week with my coworker. I got gas, some snacks and used the restroom. Sorry, I can't review the car wash. I'm guessing alot of the poor reviews are from car wash users. I have a tip for you: mechanical car washes that use rollers or brushes will leave swirls, streaks, and fine scratches on your paint. "Touchless car washes usually use harsh chemicals to clean your car, then use high pressure spraying to clean it off. If you're okay with all that, then there's no problem. The price of gas was about average for the SF Bay Area. I had to get mid-grade to offset some cheap gas I pumped the night before. I went inside to use the restroom. WOW! This restroom was super clean. It was like a showroom for bathroom fixtures. The food mart was clean too. It was well stocked with all the snacks, drinks, and candies. BTW, do you know why gas stations sell junk food? Very rarely do you see celery sticks and melon balls. Drivers are usually in a hurry. It's a fact that hungry drivers get tired faster, and you don't want to stop again do you? So it's a good idea to grab a drink and a snack for the road. Maybe something to wake you up. I'm sure you'll find something in this food mart. So, average gas prices, clean restroom, and well stocked food mart! Oh, and friendly service! This is only about the car wash! I purchased a car wash when I got gas. There were several cars waiting so I decided to come back in a few days. When I did come back the code didn't work and the guy said it expired. I asked if there was an expiration date/notice. He said no. Had to go ask his manager. Came back and was asking me why I didn't use it the same day or the next day. None of their business! Life gets busy. He did an override. Then told me to make sure to use it the day I buy it. Used to come here for the touchless car wash that was reasonably priced. Ducky's bought it out and I'll never come here again. - Overpriced. The mid option is $17 and you don't get much for that - No longer touchless. They have a new brush based system with extremely aggressive brushes - Aggressively push they $20/mo subscription. The entire place is plastered in ads for it and they may it confusing to see what you actually get for the different one time tier options. They have two live people working it and one will try to sell you on the subscription - Promised wheel cleaning for the mid tier. Was not cleaned at all. I think this station may be cursed or maybe the owner just doesn't give a [redacted] which is more likely. As I was pumping gas, I noticed the pump price and the digital advertised main sign were off. Even after the car wash discount which knocked off a couple dimes, I paid more (false advertising). And yes, I compared cash vs. credit price, that wasn't the issue. The pump was literally at least $0.20 higher than the sign on the street. Next issue is the car wash--the pump receipt did NOT print. Isn't this just something you check each day to ensure a full print roll, FFS? It ain't hard. You have (almost) one job. Ensure pump has paper, ink and no credit card skimmers attached. Easy. Inside the station, the clerk had zero clue. Argued over the price discrepancy (spoiler alert: I know how to do math). She also printed out a re-print gas code (thanks, but... wrong pump). Went through car wash without wash, went back again, got the right code, washed. To cap off this fun adventure, the car wash dryer stopped blowing air after about 15 seconds! WTF? BEWARE of free car wash scam. Don't bother, it's a Jip. I was told you get a free $13 Car Wash if you wash your car six times which I did, always getting the most expensive car wash. When I came in to collect my free car wash I had to argue with the cashier that I was entitled to a free wash and presented the card with all of the stamps to which he declined and I had to argue with him until he finally agreed yes you have a free car wash. Then only gave me the $9 Car Wash which is the cheapest version and not worth it. Even though I told him I was told repeatedly you get the $13 car wash free after completing 6. Very dishonest and deceptive business practices. It's fine if they tell you from the beginning that you only get the $9 Car Wash free, but to lie to you and say you get the $13 one is just wrong.. I went to fill up last night and noticed the anti tamper tape for skimmers was in very poor condition. I reported this to the two attendants. The first guy couldn't understand me. Roll up and select any of the bottom 3 tiers of washes (not the highest one), and an option to have it done without brushes appears. Phew! This place was the jam for RC residents with ceramic coats. And if their husbands' jobs relocated them to the San Francisco Bay Area, forcing them to move to the peninsula hotbed of Redwood City... and if they had to get their car washed for the first time after driving up the I-5 (or 101 if they were patient and brave)... I would recommend the Chevron Gas Station on Veterans Blvd. The gas is delicious! The layout is exquisite! The pumps are magnanimous! But what I really want to commend them for is their car wash. I just brought my 2000 Honda Accord here (her name is Wanda... she hates it when I define her by her race) and she loved every minute of the experience. You pay at the pump and can choose between 3 options: $5, $7 or $9. Wanda resembled Pigpen so I opted for the $7 wash because I didn't know if $9 included waxing which she doesn't like without good warning (she wants to at least trim down there first). I rolled around the corner and typed in the code that was presented to me on the machine. Wanda started purring and going into reverse because she was nervous, but I calmed her down. I said "baby, you got this. We'll do this together. I won't leave your side. You hear me? Not for one second." After a few gentle strokes of the wheel, she let me ride her in. We sat together... part in fear but mostly in awe... as the water came rushing down Wanda's backside... then flowing from her front all the way to her rear. The soap piled on and was washed away by more water. Finally the green light flashed and I pulled forward to the drier. This part was a little unclear. I wasn't sure if I stayed still or drove through. Turns out you drive through it. Since I hesitated a little at first, the front window remains a little moist. Soon as I pulled Wanda out of the driveway, she screamed "again!" in my ears, with the vibrancy she used to hold as a mere lassie. For as dirty as she was, the car wash did a wonderful job. I plan on making more frequent visits so Wanda can enjoy this cleangasm more than once a year. read more

Just happened to see the sign as I drove by. It looked like nobody was in line so I pulled around and was the 4th car in line. Now I'm enjoying my quiet time waiting and trying to be productive. So I head back after work and just ask for an extra wash or refund, typical thing If you pay for something and don't receive what you paid for. I visited the gas station to purchase coffee, premium gasoline, apply for a credit card, and wash my car. Approaching the checkout register, a youngish man who appears to be an Indian National raised his lazer scan gun shoulder-high and fired it in my general direction - I saw the flash in my eyes. He went behind the cash register for a minute and looked at us - a short line of customers. Then it was my turn and the clerk came right in front of me, within a few inches, to scan candy bars in front of the checkout register. What was he thinking? I was next in line to receive my change when this clerk began using his lazer gun to scan candy bars in front of the register and there was no way for me to move away. I asked him to please not shoot me again with the light from his lazer scanner. He refused to pause for a few minutes saying the lazer gun only shot what he was aiming at, and nothing more. What!? Who is this foolish fellow. He had a whole store of merchandise to inventory or he could have let us few people check out first. My complaints were ignored when I asked him to stop using the lazer so close to me. I feel irritated at Chevron employee's careless, unsafe behavior. I could feel my skin tingling. Or maybe that is just residual irritation. They should train people better in customer service skills and plain old courtesy. Don't get in the car wash line unless you have an hour to spare. It's deceiving because it looks like no one is on line when you pull up and then an hour later you finally get into the car wash. Breakdown: Your vehicle is thirsty? Then Chevron has the perfect drinks for it. I have gas: No, not talking about flatulence you silly goose. I'm talking about the Chevron gas station. They have multiple stations, a car wash, and an Extra Mile store. Remember when gas was cheap: I don't because I'm not old. Lies, I'm actually old. But when I first started driving, I remember gas being about $1.20. Man, the good ol' days *swipes tear*. As I write this review, gas is about $3.71 here (for octane 87). I think this Chevron and the Chevron on Woodside Road (kind of near Shell and that KFC restaurant) have the cheapest gas (among Chevron gas stations in Redwood City). Also, if you're a member of Safeway and have a Safeway card, you can use your Safeward rewards points to save $.10-$.20 on each gallon of gas. Food: Going the extra mile to buy junk food from the Extra Mile can be a little hazardous to your wallet. Snacks are a little expensive, but that's expected from a gas station. The place is pretty clean and finding snacks wasn't hard at all. Pass gas: I wouldn't pass this gas station. This place doesn't stink at all. This review is mainly for the car wash. I've stopped by this location many times, because it's located close to my work. As far as gas, convenience store and customer service I would give them four stars. However, the car wash here is terrible. First of all, if you decide to use the car wash, do not attempt to use it on your lunch hour!! Even if there are two cars ahead of you, there's always a 30 minute minimum wait to get through. And finally, the quality of the car wash is really really bad. When I use their car wash services, I purchase the most expensive wash with the expectations of it being fairly clean. I have a black car, and during the last two washes there has been a white haze on my car after the wash (see photo). I don't know if it is the type of soap, wax or spot free rinse that they use, but it makes my car look even worst! Tonight in error I was confused by my receipt rather than the gentleman explaining it to me he jumped at me like I was accusing him of something.
