On the way home to SF from South City, the roommate and I needed gas. We stopped by this Chevron on Tuesday, November 13th around 1:45pm. Prices that day were: $3.799 regular, $3.899 plus, $3.999 supreme. There's a 76 across the street with the same prices, so I guess they gas prices here are competitive for the area. This gas station also has an ExtraMile store, so convenient if you need to pick something up while getting gas. Apparently, they serve Seattle's Best Coffee if you also need a caffeine fix. If I had not used this gas station on a regular basis, I would have given only one star. I went to get gas like normal, put the pump in gas tank and set it to automatically pump. Usually it would click once full, after a few mins. However, this time it didn't and after a few mins, I checked and the bill was $150 (my tank only need 3/4 which would be $75). So I pulled it out and thought it had spilled or something. Nope, no spillage. This is weird, I'm sure my tank doesn't hold 40 gallons (double my rank). I went in and spoke to the attendant which didn't believe me of course. Sure, fine, let's go take a look. Attitude of doubt and suspicion. She looked, check under car for spillage, and said she never seen this before. Went to contact manger, took my information down and took some pictures. I was going to wait for manger to call me that day (never called). Oh and the pump didn't pump at all. My rank was still 3/4 empty. Which I moved to another pump and filled up for real this time. I just watched and held it manually, occasionally checking to make sure gas was coming out. I would have wrote this off as machine error if they had done their job and just reach out and made the refund because their pump didn't work. It would have been a 5 star review. No contact, no return messages, nothing. I called my credit card company, explained the situation and got the refund back. So, if you decide to use this gas station and have any issues, just reach out to your cc company right away. Don't bother waiting for the "manager" to call you. Or drive down the road and use the other 3 gas stations that are 5 mins away. I get it, I used them for convince as well. Just sharing my unfortunate (1st time) experience. This Chevron is home to the finest piece of machinery ever to grace a gas station convenience store: THE F'REAL MACHINE. What is so great about this F'real, you might ask? LET ME TELL YA, it's a machine that makes delicious milkshakes...at any time of the day.....with a simple push of a button...and for only $3. If you're like me and try locating F'real machines, you'd know that the next closest machine is in SF, so to have one here in San Bruno is truly a godsend. When you need a smog test go elsewhere! this Chevron and his owner manager and technician made a mistake over a year ago and put on my smog report that my car had over 120,000 miles on it! the reality was it has less than 79k miles right now! My car fox report was shown to these two very unprofessional men..... so now it is rendering my car as worthless! They admit they made a mistake; but said I was giving them "an attitude" so they will not change the report! so now I said I will go to the necessary authorities about it and report it and the older man said "ok go ahead!" read more

3am gas run. 24hr Sharis across the street as well as a 76. I choose Chevron when I can as I never had issues with credit card fees and I guess I bought into all the happy cars with Chevron gas. As I approach two young kids are talking about life while they smoke a cigarette. One talking about how is race and ethnicity didn't really line up to the expectations of fellow high school students and then the consequences this had on who he was friends with back then. One guy then goes on to saying, "I never heard of San Bruno before so this is how I knew I wanted to come here for a fresh start." The other then goes on about saying how all his other friends now gave into fitting into the box that society created for them. They were having a deep conversation and it was kept me entertained as I pumped gas and washed my windows with the squeegee. Receipt printed at the pump all went well. I sincerely hope those two kids find their path in life. They seemed like solid people - probably artists or writers of some sort. read more

One of the worst gas stations known to man. Came here about a month ago to try and get gas but credit card machines were down. Ended up getting gas at the 76 gas station across the way. Got gas here yesterday and apparently the lady before me had issues with her transaction. Then came my turn. I was forced to go in to pay for my gas since the credit card machine at the pump didn't work. The attendant was scared that my transaction would be messed up like the lady before me so he charged me $50 worth of gas when I needed $80. I tried to get more but didn't have any more of the rewards points and the attendant couldn't adjust the price. I won't ever be going to this station again even though I live down the street. I'd rather drive to hickey blvd to get gas 2 cities away. I wouldn't have tripped over the rewards if I didn't have to buy 10 or so more gallons of mid grade. read more

The gas is cheap. Very cheap. The pumps are decrepit. The signs are pretty bad, even for a place on the side of a hill. If you're heading to SFO, don't bother trying to figure out how to get back onto the freeway near the gas station. Instead, turn right on Rollingwood, turn left at the signal, and follow that road down through the cemetery. The signs for getting to the airport are better down there. If you try to get on the 280 either north- or southbound from right near the gas station, you're wasting your time--and the money you saved on the cheap gas--because you're going to be doing a lot of additional driving. I was pumping gas and watched as one of the employees started lighting up a cigarette..THis was very alarming to me, so I said that he shouldn't be smoking at the gas station but he laughed and shrugged and said that he works there at Chevron and that it was no big deal!! My gosh I guess I will never go there again..If you have idiots like that working there! Update: the manager ( who was very nice and apologetic) did contact me and let me know that he spoke with this employee so I added one more star but I still do not think that employees should be allowed to smoke anywhere near the gas station.. Situated directly across the street from the southbound 280 onramp and a block from the northbound, Gas & Shop is my new favorite place to fill up. It's a former Texaco where the gas costs 10 cents less than the 76 directly across the street, and about 25-30 cents less than crazy land Shell up on El Camino. The window washer squeegees are usually in decent condition and stocked with paper towels. There is no lame-ass credit card surcharge or "Cash Discount" BS. There's a little food mart if that's your style. For some reason the 76 across the street isn't out of business...why do people choose to pay more for a commodity? Not sure. read more

Excellent one stop gas spot always stop here atleast once a day on my way to work and through out the day they have pretty much anything you could need in a hurry prices are awsome gas is cheap and the manager and his wife are very pleasant people the coffee is great you can buy a reusable coffee mug and get $1 refills forever and it's good coffee!!!! I also stop here on the way home from work late at night and the night clew are excellent and very professional and always quick to serve you same goes for the guys that work the day crew I know them by first name and they take very good care of loyal customers and new customers! This gas station is HORRIBLE!!! On February 5, I was pumping gas. The automatic shut off switch did not trigger and almost 2 gallons of gas was gushing out the side of my car. When i went into the station to tell the guy that worked there that this had happened and I need a refund for the 2 gallons I paid for but ended up all over the side of my new BMW, he told me "no refunds." I called the police and they did not seem to care at all! They refused to pay to have my car cleaned at a car wash. They also refused to give me the info about the owner. They did give me a HUGE run around. Giving me phone numbers to phones that just ring or to an office where the woman claimed that the owner was not there. Then after complaining for a while, a man came on that claimed to be the manager and told me that he would not issue me a refund or pay for the cleaning of my car. He told me to sue them in Small Claims court to get back the money I am out. They are breaking laws and do not care AT ALL about their customers. BEWARE!!! read more

Best place to get gas in the Upper Peninsula (including SF). Their gas is consistently the least expensive of any station -- with the exception of Costco, except at Costco you gotta wait 10+ minutes to fill up, so it's not worth it, plus you can't use credit cards and they don't have 89 octane, if that's what you need, which I do. Thing about this Gas & Shop which is even different than some other Gas & Shop's on the Peninsula: the price is for cash OR credit. Also, I love how the station is somewhat hidden from the 280 as well as from any major road as it allows the station to never be crazy busy -- I NEVER have to wait for a pump -- and it is truly easy on / easy off from the 280 -- and very convenient to where I live in Pacifica. Also, if you're a believer that some gas is good and others aren't (e.g., due to additives), I have never had a problem with their gas in my pseudo-sports-car. Finally, the guys at the register: always friendly. read more

On the way home to San Carlos I stopped to fill up. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! Attempted to use my ATM card, the Pump reader didn't work. Went inside, told the fellow that I wanted to fill up. I pumped $70.00 dollars worth of gas.. Went back inside and the reader inside wouldn't work! My card is one week old, so NO issues with the card! I then offered to use another VISA card. He tried this and IT didn't work. This person working had VERY limited english skills. I demanded that the cashier call the manager. After 20 minutes FINALLY the cashier called the manager. I explained the situation and he asked to speak to the cashier. Whatever the Manager said to the cashier worked, because finally the VISA card worked. I checked with my bank online and just what I suspected. The SOB's charged me TWICE, plus an ATM convenience charge! I didn't use my ATM card! Never again will I patronize this establishment and I will tell ALL of my friends and associates to STAY AWAY! Go across the street to the 76 station, yeah it's 10 cents more per gallon, but you won't get ripped off! read more

I've owned my car for 5 years. It has never taken more than 10.5-11 gallons to refill (small car). Last week while filling my car at this station, my fuel tank capacity miraculously grew. The pump's meter read 12 gallons. Obviously the pump was faulty. The guy behind me was experiencing the same thing. There is another station across the street that is on average .20 per gallon more. the gas is sometimes cheap here. The employees are really terrible. The gas pumps are usually broken, and or they ran out of gas. they inside store is okay they have some good food and candy items inside. I wouldn't avoid this place, but i wouldn't go here first. read more
