Zorek is a hidden gem! We visited on a Sunday (late) morning and found it quite busy. The cafe itself was tiny and cute, with mostly (dog-friendly!) outdoor seating. The interior had cool green tiling on the counter, hanging plants, and a little stand with fresh flowers for sale. Ordering was convenient on the electronic kiosk. For drinks, I ordered the Mint Lemonade (so tasty and refreshing), but the caffeinated beverages looked awesome, as well. For food, the 3 of us ordered the Pistachio Berry Twice Bake Croissant, Smoked Salmon & Labneh Bagel, Cream Cheese & Heirloom Tomato Bagel, and Armenian Sujuk to share. The Pistachio Berry Croissant was unreal! The outside was perfectly flakey and the inside was so gooey and delicious. The bagels themselves were mediocre (I always have low expectations for California bagels), but the filling was great, especially the smoked salmon and labneh. The Armenian Sujuk (pizza) as very tasty, and was also great leftover the next day. Service was quick and friendly. Would happily return for more!
Zorek had some amazing reviews on Yelp, so we came by for a quick bite to start off our day. It's a small cafe with a few outdoor tables available. * Beef & Herbs Manakeesh $14 - This flatbread is one of their more popular items and has a great flavor to it. I guess they used to include some kind of beet color item in a container but ours didn't have it unfortunately. * Smoked Salmon & Labneh Bagel $12 - This bagel sandwich looks just perfect in its container, along with the pickles, egg, and olives. * Original Milk Cake $7 - A light and tasty cake to close out this meal. They do have a nice variety of beverages, but we didn't get to try any on this trip. We'd go back though!
I'm glad to finally tick this place off of my list. Being a corner shop, it should be visited more often, but I just keep on forgetting. The shop is pretty small, with some bar level counter on the side for standing room, you got a view of the bagel bar, a table full of Turkish treats, and a side shelf of fresh bouquets. Some outside seating without much barrier from the dust and smog of El Camino Real. Not the outdoor view I wanted, so my visit is more of a grab and go. I'm very curious about the food items here. I only came in for one small treat and my most needed caffeine fix. Got a spinach pastry and a black sesame latte. Pretty much on any of their specialty coffee, they have a matcha version of it. When I remember to turn into their lot again, I'm planning on trying their cardamom match or pistachio matcha. Maybe topping it off with a bagel if I want the calories, the spinach pastry tastes alright but held on like a limp d___. Not my type of pastry.
Walked down to Zorek to give it a try and it was pretty good, but there were definitely areas of improvement in my opinion. Given its size, we decided to snag a table upon arrival but given we had never been before, it would have been helpful if a couple laminated menus were available. Eventually boyfriend just told me dealer's choice so I got us a ginger pull apart since almost every pastry was sold out and a zataar and cheese manakeesh to have a savory balance. The ginger pull apart was pulled out the pastry case but wasn't warmed or offered to be warmed and as such, it was hard, dry, and not great in that state. There were moments where I could tell it had potential but the texture was just off putting. As for the drinks, my cardamom latte was delish! Boyfriend's pistachio matcha was interesting...not sure how we felt about it. The matcha was the stronger of the two flavors. The flatbread took a bit of time to come out but it was really tasty! It was a little annoying having to get up and check periodically on the status of this dish though. Not sure the purpose of ordering "for here". Overall, I will be back. It's great to have a tasty cafe within walking distance that's not just a Starbucks.
Signing back in later to add the photo of the Veggie Heaven bagel. We stopped by this local cafe on Monday after our visit to Barnes & Noble. When we got to the cafe we noticed that it was outdoor seating only so the view you get is of the street, which isn't too nice. Inside the cafe was really cute. We ordered 4 items: 1. Veggie Heaven bagel ordered on a Jalapeno Cheddar bagel. This was toasted to perfect but I wish it was slightly less toasted so you can get a chew on the breading inside. Otherwise, the toasted bread paired well with the fresh vegetables for a light and savory bite. The chef did not skimp us on the cream cheese filling. 2. Zaatar and cheese flatbread. We thought this item was interesting but just okay. It was edible and exactly what's advertised. However, be careful chewing. I'm not sure what goes into toasting the flatbread but one bite I thought I broke my tooth on a seed or something. Not sure what it was. The flatbread itself was a little salty for our liking but if you immediately have a cherry tomato or a bite of the side cucumber, you can cut through a bit of that saltiness. 3. Tiramisu latte was really good! As the ice melted, I feel like the drink tasted even better. There was no acidity in the coffee so the drink was easy on our stomachs. 4. Salted caramel latte was also really easy on the stomach and a perfect pairing for the bagel. Overall we do think we will be back but next time we will order the flatbread with the sausage instead.
Officially one of my favorite places to grab a good quality Iced Latte! They specialize in a good quality Iced Pistachio Latte. I wished they had other Latte flavors as I love the quality of their coffee. DRINKS: 9/10 SERVICE: 9/10 AMBIANCE: 10/10 DRINKS: 9/10 When I first tried their latte, I was stunned. The strong depth of the coffee balanced so well with the sweetness of the pistachio and creaminess of the in house pistachio whipped cream. This latte is well balanced and I love how I am not tasting any artificial flavors or too much sweetness. I substitute my drink for Oat milk and love that they use Califia Oat or Almond milk, so that's a bonus! Their drinks are pretty pricey but you truly get what you pay for. I am one to continue the hefty price if the quality is top tier and satisfies the way I like my latte's! Their Medium and Large size cups are long lasting as well so it takes me awhile to finish the drink! I still have yet to try their food. But they have a lot of savory food items and baked goods. SERVICE: 9/10 The staff are very friendly and passionate about using good fresh quality ingredients at their restaurant. AMBIANCE: 10/10 I truly lobe the ambiance here! It is very cozy and decorated with so many thoughtful pieces that signify where Zorek comes from! There is only outdoor seating. Parking is available but only a few spots!
Zorek cafe shares the same owners as the restaurant Mazra, it offers Mediterranean-inspired beverages and breakfast/lunch items. Seatings are limited (outdoor only) and the food is mainly for to-go. You order from the counter and grab your beverages and food when they call your names. My favorite is (still) their Pistachio Latte. Coffee is on the pricey side ($7 for a small specialty latte) in this neighborhood, I come over occasionally for a treat.
I regret to write this review! I genuinely like this place's drinks and food but I haven't been able to eat or get my coffee here the last two times. It's genuinely the best coffee shop near Avalon apartments yet my last two times I have come back empty handed! Service has been bad! Visit 1 - the cashier told me that they have a private event so they can't serve food or coffee anymore and I had gone in at 4:30pm which is working hours! The cashier is our usual polite guy so I went on my way and found another coffee shop that added to my drive. Visit 2 Got there earlier than 4:30 this time and badly wanted coffee that time. I was also hungry so I wanted some borek too! The place was being run by a girl and a chef at that time. They were both working on a different to go order for 15 plus mins. They were prepping at least 15 to go boxes and didn't bother to update me until I asked what's going on. When I realized that my order is not going to be fulfilled today, I decided to walk away but wasn't met with any genuine apology or anything. Another group came and left because they also thought they weren't going to be able to get coffee that day. I genuinely hope to drink coffee there some day but with my last two experiences, I don't even know if they are open or making coffee when I go! Hey Owner, you should check in or help the staff when they are short staffed or offer return discounts when you guys turn people away!
Wow! Really awesome coffee shop. Great food options to go or enjoy in their patio. Located at the corner of a busy street. They had sweets and some breakfast items but I was just there to grab coffee to go. The iced pistachio latte was so good! One of the best I've ever had. The cream on top wasn't too sweet either and there were sprinkles of pistachio on top. Highly recommend!
Even though they're known for Börek, a flaky pastry filled with savory and sweet fillings, I didn't see it on their menu during my visit. Instead, they had Manakeesh, a Levantine flatbread topped with cheese, meat, or za'atar. Order at the register and pick up your order once it's called. Since we just had lunch, we passed on the savory items. Our order: Cardamom Spice Matcha (12 oz): $7.00 +Drinkable temperature: Hot, but doesn't burn your mouth/tongue +Sometimes matcha can be grainy, but this was smooth and creamy. +Cute latte art -Cardamom overpowered the matcha Latte (12 oz): +Drinkable temperature: Hot, but doesn't burn your mouth/tongue +Cute latte art -On the milky side: Espresso wasn't very strong. Turkish Delight (9 pieces): $5.00 +These were so pretty, with a variety of colors and shapes. -Super sweet: If you have a sweet tooth these will probably be up your alley. -Pre-boxed: It would've been nice if we could've selected our own assortment. Side notes: 1.) Outdoor table seating w/umbrellas: Luckily it wasn't too chilly when we went, but if it's one of those cloudy/foggy days to-go may be best. 2.) Restroom available for customers. 3.) Free parking in their lot *Verdict: 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 d/t service. The barista/cashier (I think he might be the owner since he was also making the Manakeesh) was friendly and patient. He took the time to explain all the flavors of the Turkish Delight and provided recommendations when I was deciding on which matcha to get. If I was in the area, I would return to try their Börek and Manakeesh.

Best flavored iced coffee lattes in the bay with consistency. **Honey Lavendar Latte and their Ube Latte. I might have gotten other flavors.. but I can't recall. They have lovely bouqets from the Beloved Flower Garden, business on hand should you if you're looking to gift something for a loved one, got my man one from here. Their cookies/deserts are really good. I did make the mistake of eating the twice baked crossitants not realizing that those usually have almonds.. so be mindful of that. Their bagels - they get from a different facility not in house just FYI; I did ask about soy allergens which they couldn't confirm but I took a risk and got one of their High Protein bagel sandwich which was very good. And their Beef N' Herb Manakeesh is divine, I get one every trip. Service - great, ambiance - great. read more

Came here on a Saturday morning with my wife and our dog, patio is dog-friendly which we appreciated, and our pup was absolutely glued to the table the entire time. We tried the first two specialty bagels on the board. The Smoked Salmon & Labneh was the star, my wife's order and honestly the reason we'd come back. Great texture on the cream cheese, well-balanced toppings, solid everything bagel base. The Cream Cheese & Heirloom Tomato was fine but not memorable. The herb cream cheese was thinner than I expected, more spread than schmear. Didn't wow me, but that's a preference thing. Iced salted caramel latte hit the spot. Nice touch that the specialty bagels come with sides. Price check, two bagels and two drinks ran us close to $50. That stings a little, but the quality is there and the portions are honest. Not an everyday stop, but worth it for the salmon bagel. Would return, just ordering differently next time. read more

It's a small quaint cafe shop! You have to line up and order at the menu on the board. They have specials too!! Some of the food from the yelp may not be available, so make sure you double check or ask. Seating is outside. A few black metal tables lined up outside on both sides. There's some parking near the cafe and up the hill. There's pastries looked so good!! At the register they had different art knick knacks so you can shop to help out local artists. I had the raspberry lemonade! It was so fresh and crisp and refreshing! read more

Such a cute cafe! They have wifi and a bunch of small vendor items sold inside. The cashier was so nice and makes some of the trinkets sold at the front of the store! The miniature menu she made at the cashier impressed me the most. It looked exactly like the zatar cheese manakeesh I ordered. Unfortunately all seating is outside with one bar table if you stand inside. Tried the pistachio latte, mint lemonade, berry matcha, zatar cheese manakeesh, the meat manakeesh, and a wrap. Mint lemonade- very refreshing lightly sweet not too sour strong mint 9/10 Berry matcha - nice berry flavor subtle matcha not bad 8.5/10 Zatar cheese - soft and salted tasty. Like a pizza on a soft and lightly crispy flatbread. 8.8/10 Would come again to hang out with friends or try another drink! read more

What a great spot! Super charming, great music, parking. And I haven't even got to the food! I had the smoked salmon and labneh bagel with extra capers -- it was delicious, plus it also came with tomatoes, olives, a pickle slice and a cucumber slice. Perfection! With a delicious tiramisu latte, it made for the perfect little brunch! I highly recommend this spot and wish we lived closer! read more

Sitting here at Zorek, and I can't stop taking photos in awe of how beautiful everything is at this cafe! From the traditional aesthetic to the beauty in their craftsmanship of drinks and pastries, I fell in love with this place quickly! The staff are kind and welcoming, greeting us with a smile as we entered the room. I love how there are so many plants in this cafe, so beautiful, I can't emphasize that enough! Their menu is very unique as well, you won't find this at just any local cafe. I ordered the pistachio latte(hot) and my partner ordered the pistachio matcha(hot), alongside a spinach pastry and blackberry pistachio croissant, both warmed to perfection! Both indoor and outdoor settings are aesthetically stimulating. I'll let my photos do the talking. You need to see it yourself, so next time you're around San Bruno, drop into cafe Zorek! Finally stopped at Zörek in San Bruno after driving past countless times saying "someday." Today was that day--and it was absolutely worth the wait. I ordered their chocolate hazelnut croissant with a small coffee ($11 total). The croissant? Yum, yum, yum. Perfectly flaky layers, rich chocolate filling, and that buttery finish that makes you close your eyes. The coffee was the perfect complement. This is a Levantine bakery house café with so much more on the menu I can't wait to try. If you've been driving past like I was, stop making excuses. This place delivers. Zörek, San Bruno read more

Been wanting to try Zorek for a while and finally got a chance. Arrived on Saturday at around noon. No tables indoors, only outdoors. There was a couple of tables open when we arrived. It's not a huge menu. Ordered the Pistachio latte - probably should've given it a stir to distribute the cream and pistachio paste but it was a good latte. Also ordered the Kaymak and Jam, so rich and quite filling. Maybe not right away, but I'd return for that. Kiddo ordered the smoked salmon bagel - he enjoyed it but maybe a bit on the pricey side for what it is. read more

You need to try the Ube or Strawberry Matcha at ZOREK. It's easily the best one I've had, perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and super smooth. Shoutout to "B", who made mine. You can tell he's a true professional at his craft; the quality and consistency were spot on. It's rare to find someone who puts that much care into a drink. It's really nice to see what they've done with this old building that kept turning over businesses throughout the years. Keep up the great work! Highly recommend stopping by. I recently stopped by to try some croissants. Their croissants are very heavy and very buttery, and they are more like dessert croissants. They are stuffed to the brim with filling and will make you very full so I would keep that in mind. I did like the croissants I tried but it's basically the only thing I can eat for a meal. The hazelnut chocolate croissant is tasty but definitely on the sweeter side with all the filling. Same thing for the ube and the pistachio croissants. This cafe also has some drinks which I will have to try next time! read more
I'm a big fan of Mazra so I was excited to see Zorek come up in San Bruno. The pistachio matcha latte was well balanced and not too sweet so you could taste both the pistachio and matcha flavors distinctly. staff are so lovely & welcoming :) its a smaller cafe so not much seating but you can literally just walk to a near-by bench and enjoy your drink or meal. their mint matcha is and their pistachio matcha is so gooooddd. Okay this place is a gem!! The food is soooo good! I was surprised to get the Heaven bagel with sides of little pickles and tomatoes and hard boiled egg also! My bagel had garlic cream cheese and cucumbers and avocado, it was yummy!! I would go back! read more
I got an iced pistachio latte here. I like the generous amount of pistachio paste in the latte. Small size for the price but it kept me going in the morning. The pistachio flavor tasted natural and not artificial. The sweetness and flavor are subtle. Staff were nice and service was fast. Like most dudes, I get a lot of good advice from my barber. (On a side note, guys get yourself a real barber, it will change your life). While getting my haircut, he happened to mention he's been getting his coffee from Zorek lately. He recommended the pistachio latte as well as a pastry called zataar cheese. Let me tell you, my guy does not miss! Finally got a chance to swing by here today and let me tell you, I think I found my new coffee place too! Now mind you, my barber really hyped up the zataar cheese saying it was really good. Me being sheep and used to Starbucks pastries(no knock on Starbucks) but I was expecting a microwaved dinky pastry. Boy was I wrong, not only was the zataar cheese freshly baked, it could be a meal on its own (refer to picture). It was fresh, flaky and cheesy all in the right ways. It even came with jammy eggs! I went with the iced pistachio latte and it was yummy too. It was nutty and sweet which I really liked. The only odd thing is they don't give you a lid which was ok today because I was not in any rush. I'll ask next time if they provide one. The place is family owned and is a nice quaint cafe with outside seating . Very vibey if you have time to relax and just chill with your latte. In conclusion, 1. guys, get yourself a barber and 2. Go visit Zorek and grab the pistachio latte with a zataar cheese. read more
Same owners as Mazra, ain't no way this place isn't amazing! Conveniently located, unassuming, and bringing something San Bruno was missing. I've stopped by a few times, right when they open and around noon on weekdays. It hasn't been super busy and orders are coming out quick. I'm hooked on the pistachio latte. The cream on top is the perfect level of sweetness and balances the coffee beautifully. Priced at $7, really can't complain. I've also tried a classic blueberry muffin. It was fresh and a great bite. Literally, the only reason I haven't tried their borek yet is because I've gone in looking for a quick, small bite and their portion sizes are quite large! These come with a small salad, pickles, olives, cucumber, tomato. Hospitality is great. Parking out front. Only thing missing is a few tables to lounge. Worth the try! read more

IMO, Mazra put this sleepy town on the map and is one of the few food destinations in San Bruno. With many accolades including being recognized by the James Beard Foundation, their sister bakery, Zörek was hella promising. Zörek, a Levantine Bakehouse & Café opened in early April and apparently *something* happened, they closed for several weeks and reopened again later that month (visited on their second week of reopening). Open for takeout, delivery, and limited dine in (handful of tables outside). Easy parking in their private lot. M E N U Array of savory and sweet börek, a pastry is made of a thin flaky filo filled with items like mushrooms, potatoes, beef, or pistachio. They also have pastries and cookies. Coffee, espresso drinks, and tea. D R I N K * Pistachio Matcha Latte ($8) I was asked by the kind barista if I wanted whole milk or oat milk. I was confused because the menu says, "housemade pistachio milk". She said, the pistachio milk is made from regular milk or oat milk so it's not *really* pistachio milk. While they use good quality matcha, hand-whisked to order with a strong earthly flavor, this was more of an einspänner (the pistachio cloud cream was white). The only pistachio flavor came from the drizzle of pistachio cream on top. B Ö R E K * Beef & Herb Börek ($12): https://tinyurl.com/3ew9zupz Fresh out of the oven, the börek was shatteringly crispy with a savory, well-spiced ground beef and caramelized onion filling. It can get quite rich so I like that they included pickles and a cabbage slaw for an refreshing, acidic in-between bites. With the soft boiled egg, cucumber, olive, and kumquat, this makes for a nice smaller meal. S E R V I C E Friendly and prompt. Order was ready in less than 10 minutes on a weekday around lunchtime. Overall, there's only one other börek bakery that I know of in the bay (Nahita in Sunnyvale) so Zörek is a welcome addition to those who live in the SF Peninsula area. Owned by the same owners as Mazra, I knew I had to stop by the next time I had to go to SFO during the day! I came around noon time on a weekend - parking lot is quite small so it might be hard to find parking. I decided to try out the Pistachio Latte. This was good but I felt like the pistachio flavor was not very prominent even after mixing, and I realized that the pistachio butter didn't really dissolve into the drink that well so I was left with all that when I finished the drink. Not sure if I just didn't mix it well because the pistachio taste was definitely there in the butter. Decided to also pick up the Spinach and Feta borek! This was larger than I expected (in a good way), especially for the price. It was simple but still flavorful. I'd definitely get this again next time I'm here. There's some outdoor seating but not a lot of indoor seating (there was just a standing table facing the window). Nice place to eat in when the weather outside is nice! read more
3.5 I came here for the pistachio matcha and decided to get the beef herb as well. It was a little busy when I went, but service was still quick. You can stand by the window to sip your drink / eat your food or sit outside. Not much seating overall. Beef herb - good. It's simple, light, refreshing and tasty! Pistachio matcha latte (iced) - The pistachio taste was def there for me. The drink overall fell short for me tbh. The pistachio bits or whatever it was, were kinda grainy. I also prefer my drinks sweeter. I would want to try their matcha latte with added sweetness if possible and with their homemade whipped cream. Without the pistachio. read more

ZOREK is a cozy café tucked in the corner of El Camino and San Bruno. It has a chill vibe, a few parking spots and outdoor seating. The menu is simple, but the food is really good. I've tried the beef and the spinach and cheese--both were tasty and fresh. Can't forget the pistachio latte. It's honestly the best I've ever had! Get it hot with oat milk--the warm drink melts the pistachio cream and mixes with this thick, cold topping (not sure what it's called), and it's topped with crunchy pistachio bits. The flavor is amazing. On top of that, the staff is super friendly, which makes the whole experience even better. If you're in the area, definitely stop by. read more
Stopped by this place last minute on our way to drop a friend off at the airport and SO glad we came. They have a plethora of different pastries and their bagels are absolutely delicious. Very simple but delicious- that's how you know you have quality food. They let us taste their tea syrups and the best cardamom syrup I've ever had was at this place. Their cardamom matcha was phenomenal and so unique. The people working were very friendly and they experienced a power outage while we were there and they took it like champs!
