The staff here is mostly nice and friendly except for this one Asian guy. He seems grumpy all the time. Never a smile or a hello or a thank you. I go in to get lottos usually, and he is the only person I know that would ask for my birth date each time (before he would actually ask for my driver's license to prove my age). I'm ok with proving my age but seems odd he is the only person who ever needs age verification for a lotto purchase. The one star reflects this grumpy and very unfriendly employee. Husband and I stopped to put gas and while I was emptying our trash to the trash can I wanted to use the restroom. And I see there's 2 restroom! No sign of "no public restroom". So when I was done emptying the trash, I was going to go in when the cashier man decided to empty the gas trash can. I waited for him to finish and when I saw him walking back towards the store to open again I ask "are your restrooms in service", he grunts and says "ugh no public restrooms, go ahead" and waves with his hand like whatever. Reviewing for cashier scheduled on 3/10/2020 at 5:45 pm, his name might have been TRACY? I kindly asked for a receipt for my pump # and he provided me with an incorrect receipt, asked me to sign and when Noted that it was not the correct one, he got so furious and verbalized "I don't care about your receipt man" and started crumpling and throwing out receipts from the cash register. This is an isolated incident, as I love this gas station. But I think this business need to screen employees better to provide appropriate service to the community. read more

I discovered a wonderfully wonderful gas station yesterday, and the friendliest, most courteous, and polite sales clerk whom i have had the pleasure of meeting ever. Her name is Megan. She is a young mother of two. The bathroom was impeccably clean and very well serviced. The whole facility was clean and a pleasant place to stop for whatever is needed at a rest stop. The station is near the intersections of the 29 and 38 bus routes on GEARY. I don't drive. Restrooms are difficult to find along most bus routes. This is one without a pass code. Does anyone know how frustrating a pass code can be when on an urgent call if nature? What a relief it is too find a restroom without a delay. In such cases, even a second delay can be horrible. read more

The pump kept running when I pulled the nozzle out of my car causing a spill all over my shoes, wasted gas, and an environmental hazard

I brought my car in for a smog check. The "check engine light" was on and the attendant should have been able to see this right away when he started the car. Instead, he went through the smog check process and it failed. I was charged $80.00. He told me to take to a mechanic to fix. When I took to my mechanic he said the attendant at the station KNEW it would fail and should have told me so right away instead of "going through the motions" and charging me for a test that was sure to fail. They said I could bring my car back after it was "fixed" check engine light off and they would charge me again only 1/2 price. Nice - is this integrity? Good business practice? read more

There was defective pump, I lose money and he opens his wallet and throws a dollar saying"that's how much you put in" them proceeded to show me a chart of how much spillage it was to cost. Louis and Kwang at the Chevron on Geary and 24th are mechanics to know! They are fair, honest, thorough, and very accommodating. They've handled various issues with my older model 4Runner, from helping me get the parts I need to get my proper emissions up to standards, to helping me understand when it's truly time to replace more expensive parts, to helping me avoid over-paying for easy replacement parts they carry, like headlights. They give me the full picture of what does what, what to expect, and when I search online for approximate costs, they always come in under or at the low end of the average. They've even shown me an OEM part box (the part I had just purchased) w/o me asking, simply to show me that they were using that box to recycle my old broken part. It's no wonder they stay busy, yet sort of less on the radar as an auto repair place. They are solid. read more

This gas station was terrible. I can't use my debit card because card reader closed. I asked to staff how can i pay? He took my debit card and I try to refill gas but it was not working. I asked him again why it not working? and then he shouted me "cash only!" Why he took my card and shouted. He is very stupid. This gas station owner should fire him. My check engine light came on, so I pulled into this mechanic / gas station to get the code read (the guys at Jiffy Lube across the street told me they could do that here). I've had this procedure done several times for free at Autozone when I lived in another state. It has never taken more than a couple of minutes. It was the middle of the afternoon. When I pulled up there were no cars in the garage being worked on, and two guys just standing around. I asked if they could read the code. They said yes, but I would have to leave my car there. Really??? I then asked if they could recommend anybody else who could read the code. They said no. Sure..... New to the neighborhood, and these guys will not get any of my business. read more

This is a review of the cashier Tracy for the transaction at 3/24/2020 7pm. I came in to get gas and go to the cashier and give him $20 and tell him I want one gallon he proceeds to yell "I don't have Change for that go somewhere else" so I go the pump and try to use the pump and use my card but the machine tell me to go back to the cashier I tell him that I want to use my debit card and he yells "what now?!" I tell him I need 1gallon so he does the transaction but when I look at the receipt he only gave me $1 worth of gas so I tell him I need one gallon not $1 of gas. He just slides back the card and tells me "get out of here motherfu*** I don't got gas for you" I tell him can you just ring it up again you misunderstood he just got madder and just got up like he was trying to fight me and saying something through the window. But after reading another review I guess this guy is extremly rude with everyone. They really should fire or at least know how rude this employee is. read more

I got my battery replaced here, which was a bit above market value but I wanted to change it quickly. Kwang then diagnosed my car with a bad alternator. He pressured me into changing it that day but wanted to get quotes from other places because it seemed high. Turns out, he was quoting me $100 more than other places. These guys are great. They're quick, they keep in touch with you at every stage, and the prices are fantastic. I had to have my clutch kit replaced and I called around. All the estimates I got were around $850 (from NJ to CA), and these guys did it for $750 (exactly the estimate). Kwang has 30 years experience, and they work on foreign cars. It might be a gas station repair shop, but check around and you'll see they know what they're doing. Prices unbeatable. Amusing: When I got my car back, I tried to give old Kwang a hug - and he was so uncomfortable that he completely repelled me. read more

Yo I gotta give it up for Louis at Chevron. 5 stars for honesty and integrity and that's real. I came in with a donut on my tire, and though I got to look all manly in front of my girl the night before when I changed my tire ('what babe? nah I don't even have AAA"), I was quite disgruntled as I have been having to get lots of new tires. I got some pretty questionable service on my shocks around the corner a few months ago, and since then my tires have been going bald really quickly on the inside of the front...man I wish I had gone to these dudes instead for that work, but I digress. So I get Louis up to speed on all this, and ask if I should get my balance adjusted on my tires along with the replacement tire I'm getting on the right front. He's like, nah just wait until you are ready to get all 4 new tires. I have to say I just super appreciate when people give it to you straight like that. Most people would be like, yeah we can do that for you! (sucka!!!) So then dude pops on a replacement tire in about 5 minutes, charges me a very reasonable $50, and I'm on my way to cruise the streets once again. Thanks again Louis! read more

Went in for some mechanical work, the mechanics are rude and don't even speak English and try to overcharge you. Also all the workers were gauking at a girl walking by in a disgusting manner. One of the few gas stations in the Richmond district of San Francisco, that still has a repair shop and free water/air. This Chevron station is modern and is easy to access from 24th avenue or Geary Blvd W-bound. This station is on a property with a lot larger than normal gas stations getting your car filled and out is very fast. read more

I fill gas here every now and then. Sure, if I'm coming from the Sunset, I have to make a turn onto Geary, then a u-turn on 23rd, but it's still the closest gas station to my apartment. As other reviewers have pointed out, this isn't the cheapest Chevron around. But sometimes your car's thirsty, and Costco is just too far away. read more

I walked in to get a pack of smoke today, the cashier wasn't there at the moment so I waited inside for a few seconds because it was raining outside. When he came in, he rudely yelled "WHAT??" I went "???'d" but told him I wanted a pack of Benson and Hedge, he then screamed WHAT KIND? I said "Deluxe" He angrily repeated "what kind?" I said "Deluxe" He again, angirily repeated "What, KiND?" I said, "Deluxe?" He then finally decided to take out both kinds of Benson and Hedge that they carry from a overhead cabinet that I couldn't see behind the register, so I can point at him the type I want. He then gave me a exhausted and "what an idiot I'm dealing with" look and scanned the item, after the receipt was printed, he threw the receipt and a pen at me and literally yelled "SIGN." I signed and asked him if everything's alright, he mumbled something that I didn't hear and didn't care to hear, and I walked out. I was very angry that he ruined my good day. I mean, is it his job to help me or what, who is he to yell at me "WHAT?" and "SIGN?" Do I have to pay extra for him to give me a (fake) smile and say please? I immediately called Chevron Corp's customer service line, and the manager of the store as well as the owner of that specific location and Chevron's location manager are all already aware of this, so good luck. Tips, as a frequent customer, I have known two cashiers there, one with a very thick vietnamese accent and the other one speaks perfect english. The presumably Vietnamese cashier is literally one of the nicest person you can meet, but the one that speaks perfect English is the idiot that ruined my day. If anyone with any authority is reading this, please, do something, take some action, most of your customers live around the neighborhood and thus, you don't want to piss them off. The tire light was on in my vehicle, and when I came to your station I saw the older Chinese mechanic helping a man put air in his tires. He was just finishing, so I pulled up into the same spot, slightly left of the the mechanic shop. I told him the light was on for my tires. He had me slowly turn the tire in question to the left, then told me to go by the sign where the air was and do it myself. I said I just saw you helping a guy with the air on his tires ! He said that's because he gave me $20. I told him I don't believe you that you're charging $20 to check air in tires. He said we aren't charging $20, but he gave me $20. That's word for word what he said. I went into the young cashier and asked him for the manager. He said Dan would be in on Thursday and looked up the station phone number for me. By the way the guy that got help with his tire air was also Chinese. I saw the air line out and he was just finishing up when I pulled up. The mechanic didn't deny helping him, and claimed that he made $20 cash. I don't believe him; I think he's choosing who he helps. I don't think anyone is paying $20 to get air put in their tires. I put air in the tire I needed quickly, not a problem! I think employees stealing money from their boss and customers would be an issue though! read more

This auto place has name for Carl & Dan's Automotive INC. which does not exist on Yelp, but the receipt says Chevron. I went to this auto service in March for oil change and a tire repair for a nail. L. Fong told me he pulled out the nail and sealed it. I had exact same tire flat this morning in my drive way. After AAA came and changed to spare tire, I saw the huge nail inner side of tire and there was NOT a trait of seal. $30 fee he charged me extra for tire repair is not a big deal, but I might have been in a dangerous situation on the freeway I was heading to. Terrible experience with smog test. One pipe was disconnected which could have been fixed without the help of mechanic. I actually really like these guys too. They replaced my wiper blades for cheap one time. And I was low on gas one other time and they lent me a gas can, instead of trying to charge me $15 for one, like those guys in the Excelsior that I now pass up every time. The guys at Dan's Chevron are amazing. Not only do I always buy my gas there but Louis and Kwang have looked after my Mercedes since I bought it new. Whether it's a normal service or a repair; they always do wonderful and thorough work. - and also take the time to explain and answer any questions I have. They have always managed to have my car ready for me ahead of the promised time as well. They really deserve to be recommended and I am very happy to do that. read more

I only get gas here on occasion as they are always more expensive than the Sunset District Chevron stations on 19th Ave. However, on the rare occasion that I do, the machines are always out of paper to give me a credit card receipt. If you want your receipt, you'll need to go inside, get in line and then ask for one to be printed out manually. Ugh! read more

Had a screw in my tire and took to this chevron for a tire patch. They reviewed the issue, confirmed the tire could be patched, and then did the work. Only after the work was done did they tell me the tire would need to be replaced because the hole was too close to the side wall, so the patch was not the right solution. When I expressed my frustration with their not giving me the this info BEFORE doing the work, they said they could remove the patch if I didn't want to pay... and then what? Put the screw back in? Do yourself a favor and avoid these guys. read more
