I am not writing about the gas station OR the carwash, which is high priced in my opinion, but I am writing about the auto services provided by Youbert and his automotive technicians in the shop. The auto service is a separate business entity from the gas station/carwash. I have gone to Youbert many times, and he has consistently provided excellent service. He takes the time to get to know you and your car's issues, and I've never had to worry about being up-sold for services I didn't need. I really TRUST him as an honest auto mechanic. What I appreciate is Youbert takes the time to explain things carefully so I know what to expect from his services. Today I happened to realize that my vehicle registration was due in less than a week, and I hadn't taken care of the smog test. Oops. I called two stations near my house. Not only was Youbert the least expensive, but he explained the breakdown of the fees (smog test, certificate cost, etc.). Most of all, he said I could bring the vehicle down immediately and promised that it would only take 30 minutes! I had planned to drop it off and walk home while the work was completed, but it wouldn't be worth it if it would only take 30 MINUTES! Yay! True to his word, I filled out the paperwork, the technician got to work, and I paid for it all in 30 minutes. I'm guessing he cannot promise that kind of quick turn-around all time, but it's worth it to call ahead (408-265-7622) and check! I've been going to this gas station for over 4 years now and I thought it's time to write about the great service I always get. Sami who seems to be the main cashier knows me by my name and he is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. There's been times when I even had random car related questions or issues & he's been very honest w/ giving me his best opinion. I also used to take my old car for smog check next door. They also offer a discounted carwash when you buy gas which is always a plus. read more

The mechanic on-site was extremely rude. I came in for a smog check and was asking a few basic questions about the process. As I was reading the certificate, he told me to 'hurry up and read it in my own time'. I was taken aback. He told me 'he had things to do and didn't have time to explain what he did.' You should never use that tone with paying customers. This was the worst customer service and I will never come back!! I will tell others to never come to your shop! read more

Everyone that works here is so nice. I personally want to thank the owner for always being so sweet and helping me put air in my tires because I'm one of "those" girls that's afraid to do it herself. This is a great place and I've personally sent my friends and family here. And now Safeway customers get the discount on their gas bill what could be better. read more

Youbert is the best Mechanic around! My wasn't passing smog and another mechanic told me that I had to replace the computer in my car which was going to cost around $2000. Youbert took my car in focused on the main issues and got my car to pass smog at a fraction of my original estimate. He is honest and he is fair. I took my car for a brake job and a new battery. When I got there, he arranged for a rental car company to pick me up, and made sure that they gave me good rate ($35 per day). At the end of the day, I picked up my car, and paid a very reasonable rate for the repairs. The mechanic is honest, competent, professional and reasonably priced. One thing to note, when you call to make an appointment, he will just say "bring it in". He doesn't want to chat much about the problem until he can have a look. If I was a suspicious person, this would have made me a little wary, but rest assured, he is 100% trustworthy. read more

I've been going here for a long time with multiple cars. Youbert has always been there to get the job done and offer great advice. He told me what needed to be done and what the state requires. The first test was a pass with the tailpipe emissions and a fail on the computer. My battery had died and the computer hadn't been able to run long enough. After a week of driving the car and two return trips to check the car computer it finally had enough info that it passed. I was only charged for the initial cost of a smog check. Youbert was there for me and helped me meet all the state's standards. Go here if you want good honest work done at a reasonable price. read more

Gas prices here are almost always $0.20 more than the nearest Chevron station itself. I wonder how these are measured. In terms of service for a car job that I had gotten done - lesser said the better. The prices quoted are based on whether you look like someone who knows the issue or not. I witnessed this when observing the employees interaction with multiple customers who had no clue what the issue their vehicles had. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I originally went to the service station for a smog check and a \n oil change. I got the oil change just fine and then I was told that the smog machine was broken and I would have to come back another day. I did come back, my car got the smog check and it failed. I ended up getting rung up for 820 dollars, much more than my car needed with unnecessary services! I was then told that I needed to drive my car around again before it could get another smog check. I drove my car around for a whole day and came back the next. To be told that the smog machine was broken and they couldn't tell me that my car had passed the test. after charging me $820! Watch out folks the mechanics seem nice but they need to get their m achines in order. read more

i went to this gas station Thursday 2/21/2013 8:00pm, to get a fill up and a car wash, after spending $70 and a $10 car wash, The car wash looks post apocalyptic, and of course states they are responsible for nothing, I have been here multiple times get the ultimate wash as usual. Im used to a foam colored wash , and the water just looked dirty and sprayed weak, then the brushes were stalling and weak as well, the back right brush stalled and vibrated on the SUV pretty bad. Car wash ended, thinking I would just let the guy know there's a possible malfunction and to warn him it may mess up another car and hopefully get a discount or refund. Right off the bat his attitude was aggressive and rude in response to the foam he stated "..it mixes with the water......there is no color foam",, he suggested "your car got wet right?" His facial expression was rambling incoherent babel to suggest his car wash may have a problem. So i know instinctively there will be no monetary compensation, but at least he'll be warned on the brushes. He proceeds outside to inspect the car, Like I stated I have gone to this car wash many o Time and there was always a colored foam, ..........so I granted him I may be wrong on that, but the car was dirty where the brushes stalled and it was apparent the SUV was pretty clean every where but there on the back,where the malfunction occurred on the car, he acknowledged it was dirty he stated "...but these car wash are mechanical they do what they do, we are not responsible.......". implying these machines are sub par washes and I should have known and expected that. I just wanted to stop this mess since It was obviously getting no where and I had to be some where, I stated "........ I see where this going I understand its a sh***y car wash...." (not meaning to curse but it slipped) ".......I just didnt want any ones car to be ruined and just wanted to give you a heads up as a favor" He then freaked out and got extremely aggressive stating he would not deal with me almost running away into the mart for cursing. He yelled ".. get out of here and never come back......." threatening to call the police . I then took pictures of the car and the obvious dirt and grime in the spot where the brushes stalled, i understand the curse word not being his cup of tea, but to freak out and to be rude after spending $80 and informing him of a possible costly malfunction. He has no customer service skills what so ever and is paranoid Ill take his advice NEVER COME HERE the GAS is EXPENSIVE $4.35 a gallon, and the car wash looks like a mad circus ride, in a horror movie. read more

DO NOT EVER BRING AN OLDER VEHICLE HERE. They have screwed up my LandCruiser twice now. The first time was when I had them replace my front brake rotors when I was in a bind and needed it done ASAP. He improperly re-assembled my 4x4 hub on one side resulting in one axle shaft being unable to be disengaged. I noticed it right away after driving it home and after arguing my case to him, he denied that it was done wrong and proceeded to lift one side of the axle off the ground at a time to try to demonstrate his point. I went down to the Pismo Sand Dunes the next weekend and had to take it apart in a parking lot alongside the beach front. .... Since my Dad has always taken the family cars to him, I decided to give him a second chance, I thought it would be a pretty simple job to bleed my brakes and change my tie rod and drag link ends, he should be able to handle it... The brakes are better than when I dropped it off, but still the pedal still fades. He installed the TRE's and told me that they couldn't get it aligned at the alignment shop because it has a "jeep front end" ....what the hell are you talking about dude!? This TOYOTA is about as simple as it gets! Just loosen the clamps on the ends and rotate the damn drag link to make the adjustments! I will not make this $400 mistake again. The truck is going to Comerson's Toy Shop tomorrow to get everything fixed properly. It will probably be more expensive, but I KNOW they know what they are doing. OH, and anyone else notice how gas is always at least 30cents more expensive at this station than anywhere else? ... go to the ARCO down the street, you will save about 45cents a gallon. read more

I have used this gas station for the past 5 years and have had ok car washes. My most recent car wash was a very bad experience. While the car wash was going I smelled rotten eggs, but didn't think anything about it, when I got home my car actually looked worse then before I got the wash and there were marks all over the top ( I drive a small VW Jetta). So I returned to complain, the owner first told me I was wrong, but when I showed him the dirt and marks he said that it wasn't his fault and that he has never had a complaint before. I don't care if he has never had a complaint, he does now, so apologize and resolve, but no he got defensive. He returned my money and when I addressed that he upset me by his rude and defensive response he told me to... "Get the Hell out of there" while I was holding my 3 year old in my arm. Well, I guess I will be fueling up elsewhere!!!!! and be WARNED his car wash is not worth it!!!!! read more

Bad experience!!! I came here for a smog test in June 2012. New to the neighborhood and 8 months pregnant I went to the closest place from my new home. I needed a smog test for my chevy Tahoe, never had any issues previously. The owner Hubert or youbert, told me the fees and asked me to wait. I waited for a really long time, people arriving after me for a smog test were out before me. Then Youbert explained, that my car passed the test, but the electronic board is faulty in my car and they cannot send the results to the DMV. They asked me to drive a few miles come back and retest. I was a bit suspicious of that, but if I had walked away, they would have made me pay a full smog test for nothing. They still charged me the 2nd time I got in and some charges for the electronic board shit... But that's not all! Shortly after this disturbing experience, my air conditioning in the car stopped working. Refusing to go back to this dodgy place, I took it to a chevy dealership and they told me it looks like someone cut the rubber belt from the air-conditioning and if we had been to any garage or repair lately! So not only was I cheated on (and overcharged) for my smog test, but also they deliberately destroyed my air-con to get me to come back for repair! Be aware of this place! I don't know if they tried it on b/c I'm a woman (pregnant at time on top of it) or what. I do know a honest smog station in my old neighborhood (westSJ) to whom I've been back with the same car this year. No pb there! (glad to finally write this review!) read more

I can't comment on the work they do, but their customer service is terrible. I went in to try and schedule my car for a smog check because they are Star certified and I can't take it to my usual mechanic. I was rudely informed that they don't do work in the garage on the weekend. When I asked if I could at least get on the schedule because I needed it done as soon as possible, the attendant began yelling at me and informed me that he did not care about my car or my schedule. I left and will not go back for any reason. read more

I have been going to this station for gas only because I can use my Safeway Rewards points there. Today, the manager or owner came out when I pressed the help button because the card reader wasn't working correctly and kept directing me to enter the same information. He came out and told me that I had to re-insert my card and start over. I attempted to use the pump 3 times. He came out again and asked if I'd pressed "enter". When I said "of course", he yelled at me and said "I don't need your attitude - just leave". I told him I would write to the Chevron corporate office, and I did. This person was rude and arrogant, and should not be in business. Do not go to this station. The Rotten Robbie on Almaden Expressway had gas that was .50 cheaper, and no broken card readers. read more

This is about the car wash. I hate that there aren't many drive thru car washes in the area. I have come here several times and each time there are always spots of soap left on my car on the windshield and side doors. It doesn't matter if I get the cheapest wash or the most expensive one, still the same result after. I will never use this one again! I will just drive across town from now on. I have lived in this neighborhood 4 years and I have a reliable Nissan, but occassionaly it needs some maintenance, like I just needed a new water pump. Bummer, this month I was on a tight budget and they gave me a price that was less expensive than anywhere else. Thank you! Also, when I mentioned to my neighbors and friends that I had taken it to this station they all gave me rave reviews of this mechanics service. One of my elderly neighbors even told me Shubert was kind enough to come over to her apartment to help put in a starter for her and another time he helped her at the 7-11 with another problem. This is the kind of service that I feel deserves 5 stars. read more

Very expensive gas and use deceptive payment practices at the pump. When you are finished pumping gas, a screen flashes up asking whether you want a car wash for $2.00 off. I am always in a hurry and expect the "do you want a receipt" message. If you accidentally press yes, the cancel button does NOT WORK. You are stuck with a $7 charge on your credit card. They offer cash, but not a credit to your card. Don't even try to be upset about it, because then they won't even give you cash back and you will have to resort to a chargeback. VERY RUDE and UNHELPFUL! Wonder how many people get stuck with the $7 added to their gas bill and don't notice it. read more

RUDE and nasty to old and disabled people- especially if female and alone (who ya gonna call?). I asked them to kindly put gas in my car as I am disabled and unable to do so. They said we don't have to help you. I showed my disabled sticker and they sent out a mechanic to scream at me in front of everyone. He shouted Don't you show me that or I won't help you at all. He refused to help until I apologized for asking. He finally did with a great smirk on his face like he was pleased with himself for putting an old disabled lady in her place. I have been pumping gas at this station for years and utilizing their repair shop and car wash, but after tonight I will never return. I pumped $25.01 of gas and declined printing a receipt at the pump. When I start up my car the low tire sensor triggers so I proceed to the air/water area. The sign clearly states that I need a receipt to receive free air. Unfortunately when I pumped my gas I did not need air. So I walk in, two gentlemen and one woman are standing behind the counter conversing. I ask them to turn on the air for me please to which the one gentleman says " Can I see your receipt?" I explain that I had just pumped $25.01 at pump number 8. And mind you I was the only customer there. He replies "There are multiple signs stating you must have a receipt!" I asked him to review the cameras and he would be able to see me pumping gas 5 minutes before. I do not expect anything for free, as I was a paying customer! He replies again, very rudely, that I must have a receipt to get free air! By now I am done talking to this man who is incredibly rude. I am sorry for not reading the air/water station rules prior to pumping gas, as I didn't need air when I pulled in to buy gas. These people were very rude, I walked out! As I walked out the smug, rude, jerk says .... "you can go somewhere else." So thank you Chevron and your three rude employees, for reminding me NOT to do business with you! I will take my business elsewhere, and be treated more respectfully! read more

I was frequently getting gas here and one day I needed some air in my tires so I asked if they had an air machine. He had me pull my car up and proceeded to put air in my tires. It took him maybe 3 minutes. He then charged me $10. I was shocked but gave him the money. This is something I am capable of doing myself. I will not buy gas here ever again. He should have indicated it would cost me $10. read more

I went to this gas station, I asked them to check my power steering fluid ., One of the guys checked it and put fluid in without saying whether it was low or what the charge would be.After he was done I thanked him and he asked for ten dollars for the fluid. I understand nothing is free and ten dollars is not a substantial amount of money, but you should always let a person know what the charges would be before you perform services and give customers the option to purchase their product or buy it somewhere else for much flesh e disagreed by saying most people would charge you for looking ' he said he didnt charge me labor and ten dollars is not much money .My opinion he over charged for the fluid so he must have charged for labor, he was rude and if he had told me the price I could have taken my car where I get my oil change they would have done it for no charge because I am a regular customer. read more

I'd only write a review after a series of experiences, never a single impression. I've been coming here since 2008 for tune ups/smog checks on all 3 of my 'older vehicles'. Youbert and his crew are simply top notch. Specifically, it's the honesty of their operation that impressed me the most. Never had a hidden surprise for mechanical work completed. In fact they'll tell you what they can or can't do. They (and I mean everyone from the person working the cash register to mechanics and technicians) treat customers with smiles, respect, and honest advice. When I first came by in 2008 for some engine work, I left so impressed that I've continued to buy my gasoline there too. Yesterday, I was again amazed as they brought my 90 Jetta back to life again, (2nd time they've done this in 4 years). I was told the day before that the 'fix' had probably an 80% chance of working, and what it would cost. It turned out that the fix did work, and it was priced as advertised. I was also informed if it didn't work, what else would need to be done, and what it would cost. It's the straight forward, honest, and friendly attitude that does it for me.
