Just an update from 2009 surgery That went wrong. Unfortunately Dr Porter was unable to achieve results that were similar to my original face. I now get filler injections to correct reduction of my nose bridge and height. It's not even close but I need eyeglasses so it helps my morale and functioning.. The post rhino uneven nostrils have become moreso with age. Reshaping my nostrils was done to give me a more afrocentric appearance which I thought was strange until I was sent by Dr Porter to another doctor who gave me a speech on Black Pride. I am biracial Black and just wanted to fix a nose that was broken twice and never repaired in the United States Air Force. The original request was to stabilize and refine the tip of my nose. Unfortunately I ended up with a poor result with permanent rhinitis and headaches, uneven nostrils and a pug nose that requires over $20k to revise. I use fillers to get enough projection to wear eyeglasses every two years. I wanted to still look like part of my family. That's the greatest irony because we all identify as African American. read more

Horrible! If you are considering using Dr Porter consider what happened to me first and learn from my mistake. I started off looking to have nose and volume refinements. I selected Dr Porter because of her schooling, boards, and positions she holds within the medical community. However, looking back none of those things really speak to her skills. Unlike several good plastic surgeons she does not have a good body of work and looking back i should have avoided this place because she literally made no positive impact on my nose or undereye and charged a significant amount of money. Beware that she will take fussy before pictures and have her present and print the projected before and after pictures. What she did to me after the surgery was claim she had a different idea in mind vs what we discussed. Im telling you, stay away!!! This place does not have talented doctors and they prey upon minorities like myself. We work too hard for our money to be tricked by snakeoil doctors. Again, look at how weak her social media is in terms of patient before and after and how limited her before and after results are within the office. Then consider other doctors who are tagging their happy patients and posting results daily. Again you have been warned!!! read more

Dr.Porter is an artist! My rhinoplasty is a work of art, and better than I ever could have imagined. I initially considered going to a different doctor, only because of pricing, but kept feeling like I wouldn't feel safe with my decision to undergo surgery unless I had her do it (after seeing her work, reading her credentials, etc.). I am so happy with my decision. She is the queen of natural noses! Even the day I got my cast of, people who knew I had work done said they couldn't tell because I was healing so nicely, and my new nose just suited my face perfectly and looked like I was born with it. Been coming to this practice for 5 years. No showed my first appointment (yes, my fault, an issue arose), but they wouldn't budge on a $50 no show fee. Given the number of times I've waited on a doctor, had a doctor reschedule or just had my doctor switch/leave the practice, my length of time with the practice..... I would have assumed there would be some room for "hey, life happens" There is not. The reality is they have no idea who I am and no commitment to me. Won't come back. read more

5 stars! Dr. Porter and her team (Gloria, Kelly, Carrie, receptionists) are fantastic. I really feel that my wants are listened to, and they do a thorough job every time. Everyone is always so polite and knowledgeable. Dr. Porter does diligent research on all of her services and only performs/uses techniques and equipment that has scientifically-proven results. She also takes the time to explain exactly what you are to expect. No surprises. The key to having the best experience here is to be patient. This place has the most ridiculous scheduling process I've ever encountered for a rhinoplasty consultation. Basically don't bother calling them unless you are literally willing to discuss a precise surgery date before you even go to the consultation, put down a 20% deposit at your consultation and get attitude from their patient coordinator about wanting to think about it before doing so. Definitely don't mention having consultations with other surgeons in the future --God forbid you want multiple opinions for a surgery on the middle of your face -- or they won't want to schedule you for a consultation. I have spoken with their patient coordinator, Ashley, about three times over the last year. When I tried to schedule a consultation this past time, she literally asked me why I would need a week to think about scheduling surgery after my consultation had taken place. Umm... hello?!... it's my face and it's probably going to cost 10 grand. I think that warrants a week to think about whether I want Dr. Porter to be the one to do the surgery after I meet her. I understand that surgeons don't want to waste their time if someone isn't that serious about surgery, but that's why they charge a consultation fee. I would have been happy to pay a consultation fee -- and for what it's worth, I am serious about surgery -- but the impression that I got speaking with the patient coordinator reflected that this practice is high-pressure and driven by profits. read more

I tried scheduling a consultation on two separate occasions. Ashley always answers the phone, puts me on hold, asks to call me back, and then does not follow up. She is useless. This is one's first impression of a doctor's office and their competence--for this very reason, I decided not to follow up with them for my procedure. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Porter for many years for various cosmetic services. Most recently, Dr. Porter referred me to her (on staff) aesthetician, Nathalie Marchand and my skin has been transformed drastically. I have seen other doctors for skin issues and Dr. Porter is the only doctor that did not give me any "magical creams." She had a plan for my overall skin care and so far I am very pleased. read more

Nice physician but not really surgically talented. I see no result or change in nose after almost 3 years post op rhinoplasty. My family kept saying that there was no difference in my nose. Now I believe it; what angers me the most is that I spent 8k on surgery and another 1200+ on surgery center. I would be happy with at least 75% satisfaction but I spent a ton of money and see absolutely no improvement. My mistake for not doing my research. read more

As someone who is pretty insecure about my skin, Shana is so kind and helpful and willing to go above and beyond what is expected of her. She's always providing me with info and samples if needed, and is always happy to see her patients. As a patient of Dr. Porter's for over a year now, I can truly say that she has exceeded my standards of a cosmetic surgeon. I will preface by saying that I had been to 4 different cosmetic surgeons for rhinoplasty consultations prior to seeing Dr. Porter, and none made me feel comfortable enough to proceed with the surgery. From the first visit, Dr. Porter proved to be trustworthy and professional and clearly possesses a very calming demeanor that expressed not only care, but competence as well. Up until my surgery, I was informed and well prepared for what might seem like a scary procedure to have, as your nose is a sensitive area. But I can tell you that the day of my surgery, the staff were amazing and clearly knew what they were doing. Dr. Porter spoke with me prior to being anesthetized and going into the operating room, and definitely made me feel better. After that I recovered well and had no regrets at all. Even being swollen and bruised or any of the normal post-operative symptoms you might face, Dr. Porter was totally non-judgemental and doesn't wince at anything... Lol... It might not seem important to mention that, but I feel it's imporant because I've been snubbed by other Dr's before. For instance, I've seen dermatologists before that are queasy and have acted uncomfortable around me after treatment (mostly male Dr's). This was not the case with Dr. Porter as she makes me feel comfortable and not judged! So post- op I was very pleased with my nose, did not feel botched, and felt natural. I was continuously treated with the same concern and respect even after my procedure and I can honestly say that she is among the best. The office is super easy to get to as you can park in the garage below and just take the elevator to the 5th floor from there. It's a really nice building that's private inside, fairly new, and clean. The office administrative staff are awesome and helpful as well! So it's really a combination of both the little things that matter and obviously the big deal of having great results of my surgery that really warrant a 5++ star rating! read more

To be fair I really enjoyed the skin treatments I received from Shana, she does a great job. My issue with this place is that they are the least accommodating practice I been to. I have been trying to schedule a peel for weeks and when I finally get on the schedule I drive 45 mins away from my job to be told bc I'm 10 mins late my appointment is cancelled. Wasted my lunch break, gas and paid for parking twice in DC for nothing. I understand that they have other clients but considering I used my lunch break and drove 45 mins, they could at least offered to see me after the current client... Traffic is horrible and ice is every where, I can't get in an accident or take a day off just to get a chemical peel. I need to be able to work in order to pay for the expensive prices they offer. Nevertheless, very disappointed in this place especially since I been a patient since 2008 and they have cancelled my appointment in the past without prior notice due to their scheduling conflict. Definitely time to find a new aesthetician. read more

In or around January 2014, I started procedures for laser hair removal of my female facial hair. After 6 treatments, I am extremely happy with the results. Dr. Porter and her staff were consistently attentive, friendly and professional. Dr. Porter performed the laser hair removal procedures herself with staff at "bed" side. Not every salon or office offers services performed by the actual dermatologist. Dr. Porter and her staff were also patient and have a great sense of humor. They ensure your comfort and understand your needs. There is no aggressive push to sell expensive products here. They address your concerns directly and make appropriate, practical and affordable recommendations, with alternatives. I have virtually 100% hair reduction (beard free - it was that bad), no painful ingrowns, no new scarring, and the old scarring has almost completely faded. I can't thank Dr. Porter and her staff enough for improving my quality of life - that's how tremendous a difference they've made for me. Perhaps this review will help someone else in need of a great derm and her staff. read more
