I made an appointment at Dr Cohens Rockville office for a mole removal. I arrived to my appointment and you will need to take the elevator to the second floor. It leads right out to the front desk so it would be very hard to get lost. The lobby has music playing and the seats are far enough from the front desk that you can't overhear conversations. The medical assistant was friendly and speedy. She took my information and I waited about 5 mins inside the room for Dr Cohen. He introduced himself as Barry and his bedside manner was kind and understanding. I immediately understood that he had been a doctor for years because his confidence exceeded the words he was using. He provided me with options. I made the choice and completed the quick procedure without pain or discomfort. I would highly recommend this practice. Rock solid experience. read more

First, I thought Dr. Cohen was kind, relatable and professional. My complaint is with his staff (Marina). I bought a service through Groupon that Dr. Cohen did not feel I was qualified for. We discussed another option and he told me his staff would get my money back from Groupon. They did not try. Instead I felt rushed to schedule and pay for the other option. After a few days I phoned Marina and told her I didn't feel comfortable going ahead. I did not ask for a refund of my deposit of over $1000, however, she brought it up and said she would speak to Dr. Cohen since it had only been a couple of days since my visit. I DID NOT HEAR FROM HER AFTER A WEEK AND CALLED BACK - LEFT A MESSAGE. ANOTHER WEEK PASSED AND NO CALL. I have an issue when people don't keep their word and ghost you. I am also uncomfortable with the approach she took pushing me to decide on the spot, rather than letting me go home and think about the procedure. I had a tummy tuck done almost 4 years ago. HORRIBLE experience and follow up by Dr Cohen. My scar is horrendous and he pulled me so tight that it still hurts to this day and my waist circumference is BIGGER than before. I developed "fat" pouches that it took him a year and a half to address after being told time after time it would go down. Do your research. Regretful decision. I have not been able to show my stomach to anyone and I certainly can't wear anything that "fits" with the lack of symmetry in my stomach. My scar looks like a EKG. Run don't walk from this doctor. I have never written a negative review of a doctor before. I am a nurse & understand the workings of medical care. I have never in my 63 years been treated so poorly. It has been 2 months since I had the procedures. I previously had fillers & botox at another dr. office, so am familiar with it. Previously I had spoken with a different doctor about tear trough filler but was told it could be tricky. So I wanted to discuss the procedure. I also wanted botox in forehead & filler in marionette lines. Dr. Cohen came in the room, looked at my chart & said "oh u want botox". I explained the other concerns I had. He spoke rudely to me every time I asked a question. He knew I was a nurse. Before I could confirm what we were going to do, he roughly slapped some numbing creme on my face & left. He came back & started injecting botox, then filler. He never looked at my face from the front, only stood on the side. Put filler in but never checked how it looked. Was very rough & told me I was "tough". He then started injecting beneath my eyes. I assumed this was the filler I talked about. He told me it was PDO threads. I did not know anything about this! I had no idea what this was! He said this is what he likes to use. It was painful. I was in shock that he was doing this. He said the one side was bleeding & would be a shiner. Gave me some gauze & ice & left room. No discharge instructions. Came back awhile later & peaked in room from doorway. Said use some echinacea if it bruises too badly. Never checked how anything looked. The entire procedure was so rushed & rough. Total time form the time I entered the procedure room until I was back in my car was 25 miuites including waiting at the desk to pay. My right eye bruised very badly & was very sore. I had to research the threads for follow up instructions. It took 7 weeks for swelling & bruising to go down.The bruising was so severe that it could not be covered with heavy concealer. It has been 2 months & my right eye still has a pocket of fluid underneath. I see no results from the filler. It was the worst experience I have had with a physician. I have been getting botox for the past 12-15 years and Chavi Orlovsky is seriously the best ever. She does EVERYTHING we want when getting botox and never seem to get: 1) A concentrated and attentive dialogue about what you want. She actually marks your face and lets you look before even more thoughtful discussion. 2) Then she GENTLY administers the botox directly from a bottle that you can SEE and it is not watered down!  My results were the best I have ever had from the least amount of product and it lasts. I have used Dr. Cohen for a few filler and Botox procedures. The procedures are always rushed. At one point, I have had to go back to him because he didn't stay long enough to wait for the bleeding to stop so he could evaluate if more filler was needed. He didn't charge me for the second visit, but it still took my time to go back to have it done...and still didn't put enough filler in. I have been to other clinics where they have taken their time to apply the filler to make sure they were applying the right amount and more importantly to make sure they were applying it in a more balanced way through out the area. It has been journey with this practice that I never thought it would happen to me as getting my breast implant done by doctor Barry Cohen 2018. As for my my procedure the result is I have lived on pain killer for the last 8months with the horrible looking breast and so much pain at the moment. My breasts never looked right since day one. I came home two hrs later realized both side crooked one was high up to my neck one was lowed all the way down. I emailed them and had followed with but their service was horrible, they ignored my calls and emailed number of times. I came in to flow up doc Cohen's manner was incrediy erupted unprofessional and rude. I expressed my concerns he kept screaming over me while I was sitting in my chair looking like I was a third world low life class and that I was dumb enough not knowing he had done thousands and ans thousands of breast implants. That he was right I was wrong. He walked out and slammed the door 3 times of my follow up visits. It was unprofessional and embarrassing. I never had seen a doctor that's so arrogant and cocky also so erupted. We had a contract for lipo my upper arms, thighs, bra line and remove my chin implant. He suggested that my implant could have infection so he could claim it as medical nessecary and charged my flex account for it also wrote a note for it. Before the surgery, he drew a bit under the arm so I asked to do out upper arm because I have bum there. he said no he was so mad walked out the room and acted like I gave him a choke and got so mad. I was so intimidated and worried so I just let him decide whatever. While lying down on the surgical bed they made me initial that's no chin implant because he didn't want to do it anymore. I had no choice but to move forward at the time but which i was charged in the flex account for. My left breast never got better they kept saying it was my body it's not them. My left breast is so hard like a rock and looking deformed compare to the right one and muscle squeeze causing so much pain. I have asked for my implant they ignored me. I went in the last for them to exam I asked them to please take it in consideration to help me, they said it's my body and brushed off their hands. They told me they refund the amount like $1800 out of $8000 and be done with me but would not help me fix the breast which doesn't cover a bit to correct the breast. The lipo he did, it didn't make one bit different I don't feel any pain or anything like being done a week later. Which he promised to do good job or he would redo it if I wasn't happy even refund, but when I mentioned it they looked me at like I was a low life with response any of that like "it's too bad." When I came in the office I was felt nervous and so intimidated since an office Cordinator, a nurse and the doctor three of them talking aggressively over me and also threatened if I didn't leave they will get authorizes to remove me. I have never experienced something like that in my life, being treated like a criminal, paying so much for the procedure and I am currently experienced so much pain. I went to other doctor for consultation to fix it it would cost me as much to fix it and I can't afford it I'm still paying previous charge so I am in the situation of physical suffer also so much stress and distress not knowing what's to do next. I would never ever take a chance even free if I knew this kind of experience I'm going through. I was treated today at the McLean office by Chavi. She was bubbly, professional, and she definitely knew what she was doing. I love her! They also have a full length mirror in the treatment rooms, which is so helpful after treatment. She complimented me that I look 16! Heh. I went in to have my breast implant done when one of my original breast implant broke after more than 10 years. They were done beautifully by another doctor. I wanted to have the implants be the same size and just have it lifted up a little. What I got were bigger size implants and the breasts were awkward looking. After the surgery I did not realized at the time that he had made them that big, since it was still new and the surgery was just completed. I asked him about the the terrible looking scars after the surgery and the size of the implants. He informed me that initially that's how they will look after surgery and that the scars will go away and the breasts will take shape and be smaller after the swellings go away. I didn't see any improvement over a course of a few months and went back for a follow up visit, and expressed the same concerns. He said after about six months everything will look normal. Well after 6 months the scars were the same and the implants never gotten smaller or took shape. I went back in in about a year's time to see if he could make the breasts smaller because this was bigger than what I had requested. He wanted me to pay more money for another surgery because he said this was what I had requested and they were that same size as my original implants. I told him they were not the same size and were too big for my body. He told me I was a 34D and wrote it on my medical record that I was a 34D. I never told him my original implants were 34Ds. I was a C and I should know my own breasts size. I'm starting to experience issues with my back because the size and weigh of the implants. The assistant did not follow through when I had requested my medical records and was told that they will be emailed to me. I have not received anything from that office. I recommend going somewhere else if you want to get your breast done. Don't waste your time and money. read more

I would NEVER go back to Dr. Cohen. He was rude, rushed and one of the most arrogant doctors I have ever come across. I had Botox and fillers and I thought he was stabbing me with the needle. I have had both many times and have never been in pain like that. To make matters worse he was unapologetic and the results were lackluster. Dr Cohen is amazing. Succinct, no B.S., ethical, and kind. After living in NYC and having a surgeon I was very close to (Dr. Shaeffer - highly recommend) I was nervous to find someone here that I felt the same way about. PROS: He won't upsell you on anything. He will tell you you don't need something if you don't need it. He is extremely kind and provides excellent patient support. He knows what he is doing. Don't take any brevity as lack of care, he's just done every procedure thousands of times so he can make decisions based on his expansive experience. CONS: They don't have imaging technology but he doesn't really need it with the amount of experience he has you sort of just have to trust this is his art. If you have sensitive skin (to bruising) make sure you tell him as he will be the first to tell you he has a "heavy hand." Tp sum up, Doc has enough experience to know what he is doing and wins my vote and business. I am not an easy client either, I ask a lot of questions and I am very brash, I am on day 12 of post op. I am happy to have a doctor I can email and that responds promptly even though I could probably google and get the answer. What can I say? Literally speechless. Dr. Barry Cohen is hands down the "God" of boobs! All I wanted was to fill back in from having nursed my babies and I wanted them to be sexy yet natural. I met with 4 different "top docs" in our area and a lot of them sold me with fancy words and all insisted I needed a lift. Dr. Cohen was the only one who kept it real. Insisted I didn't need a lift and he could make a lot more money if he charged me for one. I like that blunt honesty from a Doctor. I could care less about their bedside manner as long as you keep it real with me. I was a full D before kids and loved my boobs in every way! After the weight gaining and weight loss of kids, on top of nursing them my boobs were wrecked. I hated them. I still had all that breast tissue but they were now like at my belly button and I hated what I saw in the mirror. On top of the Aesthetics I freaking couldn't find a bra that ever fit right. I got a Rhinoplasty with Dr. Cohen in 2018. Surgery actually went well - no complications apparently. I was happy with my nose. It actually wasn't until 2021 when I started to notice a bump on the side of my nose which was strange. I traveled all the way from Boston to MD to have him look at it. Which that appointment lasted about 5 min in and out. He just stuck cortisone in it and said I wouldn't see it again. Well fast forward a week, it came back. I flew down again, and he met with me for a total of 5 mins without looking inside my nose for the 2nd time and said I think we'll need to do a procedure and shave it down. I told him I was going to get a 2nd opinion which he didn't seem thrilled about. When I went to get a 2nd opinion I found out I had a HOLE in my septum and the back of my septum was missing (???? WTF, I know). At this point I was reaching out to Dr Cohens office and I had to follow up on my OWN emails to get them to respond and set up some time. When I met with him, his advice was "do nothing - it's the best thing you could do". Luckily, I found a new, wonderful Dr who took time to *listen* to what I was experiencing and their advice was to get the hole patched in ASAP or my nose would collapse in the future due to back of my septum missing (which she had never seen before in her career). Fast forward during my revision surgery, my new Dr found cartilage floating around in my nose too!!!! Which is a reason why my nose started to saddle. Nightmare all-around. I hope that whoever reads this makes a better decision than me and finds a Dr who is a good listener and not someone that is going to rush you in-and-out of their office. read more

Don't waste your money on a glycolic peel at this office. I was not seen by Dr. Cohen. The procedure was performed by one of Dr. Cohen's staff. The chemical was not evenly applied and/or applied well throughout my face. His staff boasted that my face was red and that I was going to have a nice peel. No, I did not. More than half of my face, primarily the upper half of my face and my nose did not peel at all whatsoever. There was also not a lot of peeling in the lower half of my face either. She applied a little too much next to my nose, causing my skin to crack and bleed. After 2 days, the small areas where there is peeling looks like my face was burnt, not to mention the scars next to my nose from the bleeding. read more

Doctor Cohen is amazing.! About 8 years ago I got a lower face and neck lift by different plastic surgeon. A week after the surgery my face looked the same as before . The surgeon redid the surgery and it was so painful that I clenched my jaw and ended up with TMJ. I had to go to a dental specialist and get braces! It was a nightmare ,to make the a long story short there was no difference in my face from Before & After those two face lifts. I said never again. Doctor Cohen said he could make me look 10 to 15 years younger under local and it would be less painful and I would get much better results. He didn't lie ! Doctor Cohen is confident, honest, tells it like it is no sugar coating, plus he has charisma. I trust him fully. He did a wonderful job, I got a lower face and neck left and yes I do look a lot younger and the recovery was minimal I was driving 3 days later. Dr. Cohen is the best. I went to see him last week for Juvederm filler in my cheeks. He is friendly, punctual, no-nonsense and does not try to upsell you on additional services and products. To the contrary, he told me not to waste my money on an expensive filler that another medspa highly recommended. I love the results from just one vial of filler - I have had 3 strangers comment on my pretty face and cheek bones. His staff at the McClean office are also very friendly and helpful. I have had serious commitment issues when it comes to fillers and injectables. I tend to wander from spa to spa based on deals and Groupons and I have had several used-car-salesman-type experiences where I get told that I really need something (to fix a problem I didn't even know existed) and they have just the product to fix my hideousness. This is my first time writing a review but , felt it was necessary to share my experience. i learned of this practice through one of the discount sites Groupon/Living Social and bought the certificate for Botox. When I went to the room for the procedure , the office manager came in and discussed additional services. I decided to have a cosmetic filler in what I call the smile lines. Dr Cohen came in and recommended one syringe of Radiesse for which I paid a so called discount of $375 . Although the procedures went well , I actually saw no results. The filler should be instant however, once the minimal swelling went down , I saw no change . I contacted the office, spoke with Dr Cohen's manager, and was given an appointment to come in for a follow up consultation. A few weeks later I returned and was told that I needed another syringe . I agreed ,since I saw no results with the first injection. It was then that they told me , it would cost another $375 . I paid and once again when the swelling went down , no results. I called the office and left a total of four message for the manager. After numerous attempts, I gave up and chalked it up to ------you get what you pay for-----To date, I have never received a return call . I have a hard time believing that I am an isolated case. Needless to say, I paid top dollar to another plastic surgeon in Bethesda and had no problem. Thus, I've concluded that whatever I was injected with by Dr. Cohen is questionable. read more

So I went to the McLean location via a Groupon/Living Social discount in order to have the cosmetic filler Radiesse injected. The office manager is awesome! So nice! Dr. Cohen was late (but not by much) and apologized. Really, not a problem because the office manager is so great. However, he spent (maybe) 10 seconds talking to me. I tried to explain what areas I was concerned about to see if Radiesse was appropriate (if not, I would have picked another area) and he really didn't want to discuss it. Just said Radiesse was best for marionette lines, filled up the needles, and went to town on my face. It was super rough. So much so that I had bruises that lasted for a full week where he'd injected the Radiesse (awkward). I'd been looking for someone close by to occasionally use for fillers/botox; I'm going to keep looking. However, I do think it was actually Radiesse which was injected (which I'm not sure is always the case with a Groupon/Living Social person). Can't say if it was the amount (1.5 cc) that I paid for because he never took the time to explain anything. read more

So based on the reviews, I decided to go see Dr. Cohen, but I was very unhappy with the results. I went to get a filler procedure, and the filler only lasted for less than a month. He rushed during the service, and I think I was there for only 5 minutes, he didn't even ask what I thought about the procedure or If I was happy. During the 5 minutes I was there, he only talked about how he was one of the best in the area and his products were the best, as well. Went in for a breast augmentation yesterday. And I am very pleased with Dr. Cohen and his wonderful staff! Especially nurse Kristi. She was so sweet and thorough. Office is extremely clean and neat. I remember going into my consultation and meeting with Dr. Cohen, he listened to every word I said then gave me his suggestion kept everything short and simple so that I was able to understand. And gave me the best price so far that I've seen. And his work was excellent! I like the fact that he gave me the history of his work. I believe some might take it wrong but he is just extremely confident in his work and I'm a believer. I've been to many other consultation where the doctors will have u sit down a talk to you for hrs almost if they are trying to hard to sell their work. Dr. Barry Cohen kept it short simple and to the point. They even allowed me to come back and meet with him for any other questions and reassurance 3 times. Had the surgery and it was a success! Best in the DC area. I wish I could give ten stars. I've been a loyal client of Dr. Cohen's for the past 3-4 years, solely for facial fillers - usually Juvederm and Belotero. I have referred two close friends to him for cosmetic surgery procedures. Dr. Cohen is a sweetheart. Always kind, patient, and honest with me. I've asked for certain procedures, and he has told me on several occasions, "No, you don't need that." I appreciate that very much. He does an excellent job with the fillers. I'm a baby when it comes to needles, and he is always quick and efficient. He even apologizes for "hurting me." (It's not his fault at all; I just have an incredibly low pain tolerance. Most folks probably wouldn't feel much of anything.) Went in with a Groupon so did not expect the full coddling of most cosmetic procedure places. BUT, waited an hour. Then, doctor did not bother to make a show of washing hands or donning gloves before mixing the cream needed and injecting me. He DID add gloves when had to touch me with his hand rather than a needle, so it's not as if they didn't have any. The deal was supposed to include a consultation and a product to take home; neither happened. At end, was handed a glove (!) tied with ice cubes and told to do whatever I wanted with it when tried to ask if should be used for 5 minutes, 5 hours, etc. Finally, during the hour wait a desk staffer conducted several loud, hostile, curse-filled phone calls that the acoustics directed into the patient waiting area. Granted, the doctor wasn't out there to hear them, but surely someone has recognized the bizarre sound transfer situation in the past, or directed staff to have all personal calls outside... read more
