I don't remember how I found out about them but they're literally not even 5 minutes from my house. That's not even the best part. I love the staff here! They treat my babies so sweet! They are very informative, answer all my questions and always do what they can to help me out. They treat my dogs with such compassion and love. Their prices are very reasonable because vet care can be very pricey. Thank you for all that you do!

I adopted my dog from Operation Kindness and am extremely disappointed with my experience…read more Before and after adoption, I specifically asked about the lumps on my dog's body on multiple occasions. I was told they were simply fatty pockets and not a concern. Because of those assurances, I trusted that there was no serious underlying issue. Unfortunately, after my dog began experiencing serious symptoms, he was taken to a veterinarian and then a surgeon, where we learned he actually had hernias that required emergency surgery. The hernias had become severe enough to affect his bladder and bowels. Even more concerning, the surgeon believes the condition had likely been present for a long time. I was also never informed that a previous hernia repair had a high risk of failure. Had I been given complete information about his medical history and the risks involved, I would have monitored him differently and sought treatment sooner. I understand that rescues cannot predict every medical outcome, but adopters deserve accurate information and full disclosure about an animal's health. Being told multiple times that these lumps were fatty tissue when they were actually hernias has caused my family significant emotional distress, unexpected veterinary expenses, and put our dog's health at risk. I hope Operation Kindness takes steps to improve communication and medical transparency so future adopters can make informed decisions and pets can receive the care they need before conditions become emergencies.

A comment made by a front desk staff member towards me immediately made me uncomfortable and set the wrong tone, which ultimately threw off my entire visit. I was referred here by another organization and arrived with positive intentions, but that initial interaction affected my comfort level. I was in and out within 10 minutes. Customer service plays a major role in the adoption process when visitors feel comfortable with both the staff and the animals, adoptions are far more likely to move forward. I hope management takes a closer look at front desk interactions to ensure guests feel welcomed and supported.

It takes all kind. Be patient, less critical. *Third - how much Volunteering or support for their cause, outside your PET-SHOPPING experience, do YOU do? Adoption fees are reasonable all things considered. ADOPTION EXPERIENCE * (2017) REX was 12, overweight & had socialization issues (probably mistreatment). Eventually he warmed up and I got his weight down. He had more costly issues than I planned but that was on me - not D&K City. *POP-UP PET-STORE VETS - BEWARE I have used 2 separate ones. Neither saved me a dime over CityVet, as advertised. Bait & switch, possibly incompetent. REX DIED a few weeks after a routine exam from VET-ON-WHEELS. The RoBo Call I received a few days after his checkup said: "You're pet recently visited one of our in-store clinics. Your pets bloodwork was unremarkable. Thank you for choosing the convince of..." I was baited by their "$79 special" that ended-up costing nearly $300 when they plus-sold me on bloodwork. I now doubt they even did the bloodwork. And, REX DIED a few weeks after the RoBo Call informing me he was fine. * (2020) BRIXIE is a beautiful Brindle Great Dane mix I adopted in May. She has a very pronounced personality different from any other dogs I've grownup with or have adopted in the last 25+ years. She is an affection hound and also part bloodhound squirrel killer. There are a lot of stupid slow squirrels that pass too close to her fence. She's also younger than the age D&K City disclosed. She's gained 20# of muscle. Sleeps-in late, only begrudgingly getting up for bfast earlier than 9. Took only a few days to potty train her without kenneling.

As a new volunteer, you are provided training but when you ask questions you are belittled and made to feel incompetent. When I asked questions, I was responded to by Jaqueline "I told you this x amount of times last month or how we went over this already" or she would send screenshots on when she provided me the answer. As a new volunteer, you should ask questions even if things do not make sense because it is a learning curve so things will be asked repeatedly. If you are not interested in training people, then don't or maybe trainers need to be given leadership and communication classes. She was very rude & had a nasty delivery. By this being a company that is mainly ran by volunteers no one should ever be spoken to in this manner. Jenny eventually stepped in and asked if I wanted to be placed in another dept however, but no one ever said sorry or took accountability for how I was spoken to on numerous attempts. Even when I asked "do you have a moment to talk" Jaqueline said "No I do not" it was like pulling teeth followed by smart remarks!! I was solely trying to volunteer out the kindness of my heart, but I will not be spoken to disrespectfully. I have a whole MBA and I run programs by career so I would've been an asset but oh well!! I'm not dealing with disrespectful people who have a smart mouth!!! One bad apple can truly ruin a company's reputation. In the future, I hope they take accountability, train individuals to be patient with new volunteers, and provide volunteers apologies instead of brushing over someone's ignorant behaviors!!! Hopefully, they take better care of the animals because their communication and leadership to volunteers is poor.

A forewarning - We drove about an hour one way, only to find out that visiting hours were over and we couldn't see him. Essentially, it was a wasted trip. YOU CANNOT PLAY WITH THEIR DOGS AN HOUR BEFORE CLOSE. If that's all you read, awesome! The adoption process was very easy and more thorough than my previous experiences with animal shelters (SA animal control did not care about anything at all). They seemed a little confused on whether he had a respiratory infection (he didn't), but you are given all medical /behavioral notes they have at checkout so you 100% know what's going on when you leave. They were nice enough to give us free shampoo, conditioner, and food. It was a very good experience and we feel blessed to add another crazy guy to our household!

PLEASE BE AWARE, CAT PARENTS!!…read more I had a very disappointing experience with an organization that claims to be reputable. Unfortunately, I felt there was clear bias in how cat owners are treated compared to dog owners, and it was very obvious. Upper management did not seem attentive or helpful, even admitting to not reviewing basic communications from their own staff regarding my situation. Many responsible pet owners' concerns are ignored or mishandled. There are many other shelters and pet service organizations in the Dallas area that genuinely care and will guide you in the right direction when you need help. Based on my experience, as someone who has adopted from them before, I will not be adopting from or recommending this organization again. Please be aware, fellow cat parents.

My dog was being treated for heartworms. On my initial visit on July 26, 2026, we reviewed…read moretreatment. I was told I was required to give my dog Simparica (heartworm prevention) for VCA treatment. The tech that worked with my first visit gave me options, pay in full, or monthly subscription. That's free delivery as well. So I gave her my credit card info, etc, and she set it up. Said I was all set and would receive my first delivery on 8-1-26. Sounded good to me! I then dropped off my dog for her first injection 7-17-26. I went to pick her up, as I was told she was good to go. When I arrived, the receptionist said, you owe $368.00. I said, what for? She said the Simparica, one year of dosage. I said, I already set it up monthly with the tech on the last visit last month? They said it's not showing up in their data base. So what's that to me, and how's that my problem? I know we did it, I gave my Credit card, etc, This nasty woman came out and told me it wasn't in the system. I tried to talk to her, explain I'd taken care of it and they need to talk to that tech. I setup a subscription delivery, and took care of it. That tech was out till Monday. All they had to do is speak with her instead of yelling at me,, and demanding I take care of it right then. She kept 'yelling at me and I said, can I speak? She said "NO YOU CANNOT SPEAK"! She proceeded to tell me that if I didn't take care of the Simparica, VCA would not continue my dog's treatment!! I couldn't believe it! I said, give me my dog, NOW. She came out with my dog, I grabbed the leash, and she said, that was rude! LOL, unbelievable! I was RUDE.!? Seriously?! I did nothing wrong, though she threatened me that my dog wouldn't get further treatment? Really? I would never return to this location. That woman was psychotic. You don't treat clients that way. She was basically accusing me of lying. If their system didn't show my purchase and subscription, then they needed to speak to the woman who set it up, and not make demands with threats that my dog wouldn't receive further treatment, Can you imagine!? Meanwhile,....I found an email from VCA saying,...Thank you for making parasitic prevention part of Sasha's care. That email was on 7-1-26. Then, additionally said, as a thank you, here's a code for etc, etc. Giving me a discount code for another product. So after the threats and nasty treatment, they actually have the info, SOMEWHERE, that I did do the Simparica My final words, I hope they FIRE that nasty woman! It certainly won't end here, I will pursue it.
