We had never eaten here before, but from just looking through the window, it seemed like the best place to find good waffles. Our instincts were spot on!! My husband and I ordered different waffles so we could both get to taste two flavors. Both flavors were absolutely delicious. It's hard to find words to say how good they were. We didn't want to stop eating them. Our new companions seemed to agree with us. They were all smiles at having stuck with us as we scrambled to find the shop while needing to catch a train to leave town by a certain time. The service could have been better -- but after the first bite of their waffles, I stopped caring about service.

I came by at 9:45 and was told they opened at 10, came back at 10:05, they said another 20 mins. I went to Frite and ordered my liege waffle (costs 3€ here as opposed to the 2.50 at Funambule). They just reheat the waffle in the iron. Service is much better here, nice and kind. The waffle itself was denser and sweeter than the Belgian waffle. I actually preferred this because of the crunchy bites and I didn't mind that some of it was a little floppy- it made for good bite ratios.

Their rabbit stew was also very delicious and it paired so well with their fries. I'm usually not a big fan of fries, but I could not stop eating them. Service: We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to quickly accommodate us as we got there a bit before rush hour. However, I would definitely recommend making a reservation as it gets pretty busy, especially with locals. All the staff were very nice and attentive as well! Ambiance: They have several levels to accommodate more people. They have their main bar on the first floor, but you do have to hike up a bit of stairs to get to the restroom as there's a flight of narrow stairs, so be careful. I really enjoyed dining here as it felt like a very local spot. This restaurant was definitely the highlight of our trip to Brussels!

The mussels are fresh and flavorful, and you can't help but slurp, I mean scoop up, some of the cream and garlic sauce in between each mussel. During this time, I spotted a seasonal flavor: lychee raspberry rose. I normally don't like to go to places abroad that we have in the states but I was really intrigued by the flavor so we decided that it was a good "snack" to have while wasting time. We went in from the street door which makes you go through the back of the establishment. It wasn't small but not the largest. A little confusing at first, it was obvious this Haagen-Dazs wasn't like the ones back in the US. If dining in, seat yourself and someone will come by to take your order. The menu was more elaborate and had these amazing combinations that covered more than just ice cream. There were also waffles (of course), pastries (croissant, pain au chocolat), and smoothies. It was essentially like a cafe. They also serve breakfast. The staff was nice; it was their job but they were good enough. No complaints! They do know English as well. I was still getting accustomed to the language change so hadn't readied myself completely to practice my French. I actually ordered two scoops of ice cream and 2 toppings over a waffle but I only got the ice cream and toppings, sans waffle. Not a deal breaker since I already planned on going on a mini self-guided waffle tour later. I also ordered a Viennese coffee (half of which turned out to consist of whipped cream) and my husband got their coffee. They don't skimp on the flavorings/add-ins. We got the macadamia brittle and the lychee raspberry rose with dark chocolate and almond crunch. Yum! We even went the next morning for a quick breakfast (a pastry, hot drink, and half of their exotic smoothie for €5). We may even return for breakfast again...

My expectations were low, but I was actually pleasantly surprised by the waffle! Had the crunchy and chewy exterior! It was the 2nd best waffle after Maison Dandoy in Brussels. Way better than those 1 Euro waffle places that lined the tourist areas.
