The tub was conveniently located in the main room with a view of the large screen TV which also could be pulled out from the wall and angled towards the tub and bed. We were a little confused about how the tv worked since it seemed that other guests were signed in to the streaming platforms, but that was likely user error. Perhaps a little note about logging in to streaming services next to the TV might be useful for others in the future. We were also able to access live channels. The room was clean, and had a microwave and mini fridge for our leftovers after eating out or for small grocery items from CalMart. The location is great and a short walk to downtown Calistoga. We were provided with robes at check in which were useful for the hot tubs and pools. There are two mineral water hot tubs of different temperatures and one large mineral pool for swimming. There are showers and changing rooms available in the pool area as well. They provided bicycles and helmets that we could take to ride during the desk hours. We would definitely stay here again.

We arrived in Calistoga and checked into the hotel and spa. While a few of us checked in for our massages, my daughter and partner checked into our room. The massages were wonderful, we were very relaxed and went back to the room to change to swimwear. Note: The flavored waters near the spa are delicious, try them all. Our room was a really nice renovated King Suite, that also has a Queen bedroom attached. A little kitchen area, fridge sink and table, then the restroom area with added storage and seating. The pool is amazing, the water is so fresh and relaxing. The two hot tubs are heated to separate temperatures, it was just so nice to spend time going there. I found the early morning swim to be the best way to start my day. On my departure day, I decided to try a mud-bath treatment with my sister and although it was not my first time, I realized that mud baths are just not my thing. Staff was great, the spa was fantastic, hotel and pool were so relaxing. I would definitely book another weekend at the Golden Haven and recommend you treat yourself too.

My partner likes the wet and dry saunas in the winter, and I see many folks going into the cold plunge afterwards. My favorite spot to relax is the single tubs on the upper patio, as I enjoy looking at the trees in the daytime and stars at night.

But I also hate spending my hard-earned money to be treated poorly. My mom has been coming here since she was a teenager, and our family has continued the tradition every summer. My husband and I love Hill House so much that when our wedding was canceled during COVID, we even eloped here in 2020. That's why this stay was so disappointing. While relaxing by the pool, my family was eating a small bag of pretzels. Other staff members walked by, checked in on us, and were warm and friendly. Dylan, however, stopped solely to tell us to put the pretzels away. He was unfriendly and condescending; and we later found that he didn't put forth the same effort to tell other people who brought outside snacks. We ordered poolside food and drinks from another, much friendlier server. Unfortunately, Dylan delivered the order and then informed us that our small speaker also wasn't allowed, even though it had been playing quietly the entire time and the pool was nearly empty (see the attached photo). I disagree with the rules here, but there's also a way to enforce policies without making guests feel unwelcome. We weren't disturbing anyone, we were simply trying to enjoy a family vacation. One employee's attitude changed the tone of our day. If you're deciding where to stay, we've had wonderful experiences at the Bungalows of Calistoga across the street, and for a more premium experience try Carneros Resort which has an even better pool, incredible cottages, beautiful views, outstanding service, and Domaine Carneros just across the road for champagne tasting. It's amazing how one interaction can overshadow years of loyalty. And also, management should ensure staff enforce policies with kindness, professionalism, and hospitality--especially when guests are paying premium prices to be there.

Check in in the pretty spa reception area where they sell clothing, accessories, skincare, and more. And then you're escorted to the changing/waiting area. The entire spa is neutral / earth tones...a beautiful and peaceful aesthetic. I was assigned a locker with a plush robe and slippers. Then had the opportunity to shower or use the steam room, or just relax on the beautiful lounge chairs in the zen-like waiting room. My massage started with a choice of aromatherapy body oil (mine included cinnamon and rosemary and something else), and then a singing bowl/chime. He had the hot stone add on, and I had deep tissue work. After our massage, our therapists brought us each a delicious green juice shooter. I called to make an appointment for this birthday and owner, Jin, was super responsive and communicative. We scheduled a 75 min hot stone massage, but when I chatted with Lillie about areas of the body to focus on, she customized the massage to my needs and didn't end up using the hot stones, other than a few as heating elements to rest on my body. She and Jin were so kind to adjust the price down as the massage I got was a bit cheaper. As a fitness instructor, I love anatomy and learning about the human body. Lillie is beyond knowledgeable, and super passionate about what she does. I told her that I sometimes get tension between my eyes and she explained that it could come from my eyeglass prescription being slightly off, or it could come from jaw tension and tension in my neck and pectoral muscles! Fascinating! It all makes sense. Loved Lillie's energy and her balance of gentle and firm massage. This sweet spa is conveniently located in downtown Healdsburg, across from the Police Station, just tucked down an alley. The space was clean and peaceful. I can't wait to go back! We spent the first 15 min of the appt time calling and texting the number on the door and finally got a hold of the owner who said they messed up our appt date and wouldn't be able to come. They asked if I wanted to reschedule and I told them I preferred a refund. They agreed to process it the next day. 2 weeks later I realized I had not gotten a refund and called back several times over several days, asking for a refund or any sort of communication. That was a week ago. At this point? It seems unlikely they will get me my money so I reported it as fraud. It's so disappointing to have a business steal from you. I'm hoping other people can have a heads up and not put their trust in this business like I did.
