Was it excited to get a massage. And I was extremely disappointed. First, her space is a hodgepodge of different things for a client such as a massage table doing a hair appointment, etc. she was overly aggressive. I kept complaining how it hurt and she said it's OK just work through it and then I felt like the session was going longer than we agreed on. We agreed on one hour for a particular prize. She then proceeded to massage me longer than I asked for while she was hurting me. I asked her to stop please as I was feeling uncomfortable and very upset. She said oh your bill is higher because I did more work on you. I did not agree to that and the whole time she was hurting me while I was asking her to stop and she continued. I left very upset and angry not how you want to feel after a massage. I felt taken advantage of and the service was horrendous because her massage techniques were inappropriate. I would say go to the next place not this one. read more

I live in the Bay Area but had a massage from her in Clearlake this weekend and it was profoundly good for my body. But Char is also very connected to the people she's engaging with and putting her hands on. The result is a fully healing experience, body and soul. Char is an amazing masseuse. My mother found her over 10 years ago and we have been getting massages from her ever since. I wish I lived closer to Char. I live in Sonoma county and I've been going to one masseuse after another trying to find someone I am satisfied with. Char has set the bar so high that I just can't find any massages that compare. Anytime I am close to clear lake I head over and get a massage from her. She does a great full body massage. She talks a bit as she massages, not in a conversational way, but in a healing spirited way speaking to different parts of your body. I appreciate it because it helps give me permission to sigh or make a little noise. Depending on what you need and the weather, she will also often incorporate some hot or cold stones or packs. Char is a gem! Absolutely worth a visit. Do be prepared for a slightly eccentric massage but it is so healing. read more

Char's spa has a very relaxing atmosphere. I got a whole body massage and it was wonderful. She's great with specific problem areas. I'm prone to migraines and Char focused on the tension in my neck and shoulders. The peppermint aromatherapy (also for migraines) was a nice addition as well. Have had many massages and she is obviously very experienced, listened to what I asked to focus on and really took her time and was extremely thorough, would highly recommend her! This was a powerful massage. I came in with lower back stiffness from twisting wrong. I could barely sit down on her couch. By the time I left I was able to move about with little pain. Char uses multiple modalities to treat you. She will make the massage lighter if you wish. She is not chatty during your massage although very receptive to asking questions etc. She is a very friendly soul and word of mouth is her lifeline. Char is a massuese by trade, but a healer by spirit. I set the intention of letting go and trusting her to work out whatever needed to be worked out. I took deep breaths, and she wrang me out on the exhales to the point where sighs and primal grunts naturally echoed out of my diaphram. And I'm not typically a vocal massage client. She wasn't just healing my body, as it turned out, but helping move the energy that felt blocked. She has a quirky way of talking to me during the sesssion or talking to the body areas she's working on. Sometimes she encourages it to let go, or tell it that it's "good" E.g. "Good, belly...that's it, let it go." and even goes into another indecipherable language at times. Once I got past my initial silly internal giggling at those idiosyncrasies, I soon realized that, however unique the vocalizations were, if they resulted in healing body magic such as THIS, then keep it coming! I pictured her (in my over-imaginative mind) as some indigenous elder shaman whispering spells to work the spirits through me to rearrange and heal my system. I came out feeling grateful for her as a human being. And said to her immediately afterwards..."Ahhh, I see now...you are a HEALER!" The owner is very rude and not helpful. I called and asked "how much are your massages", she said "what do you mean, you called me. You don't know??" Then when I tired to book an appointment she said "ok girl, are you actually really serious about booking?" In a VERY rude tone. I have never had a problem getting along or communicating with people, this woman was a VERY RARE exception. I was astonished and very thrown off by her communication skills. I told her "you know what, some of the things you are saying are making me feel like I should not book an appointment". She said in a sarcastic tone "yes, thanks for calling, bye!" I very randomly stopped by Char's place one day when I felt a headache coming on and drove past her "Chair Massage" sign out front. One U-turn and 30 minutes later, I was back on the road, amazed, and was able to continue on with my day pain-free. Since that day I have become one of her regulars, for full-body massage. I have had close to 200 professional massages all over the country and hers is one of the top 3 I have experienced. She knows how to seek out the problem areas and take care of them. Her place is immaculate and unique. It feels like I am in Minneapolis when I step inside. The attached coffee shop, likewise, feels like a different world. I am a veteran of 30 years of getting massages, and she definitely gave me a deep tissue massage and one of the best I have ever had. I am from Houston and was in town for our oldest daughter's high school graduation. I was afraid since I had arrived the day of, I would have a hard time finding an available appointment. With one phone call Char not only accomodated me but was kind to let me choose a time convenient for my schedule that day. Upon entering the salon you feel a sense of calm and relaxation. Upon meeting Char you quickly get the sense you are in the presence of a fun and free spirit. My appointment was primarily a hair appt. Char began asking about my plans for the day and I told her I had had a stressful week and felt very unprepared for the day. She began to massage my shoulders and I instantly felt a sense of relief. It was amazing how she could sense that I needed the small talk and relaxing massage. After about 10 minutes the stiffness in my neck and shoulders had completely disappeared and her conversation of being a massage therapist at some local hot springs was so interesting that my worries dissipated and I felt as I was conversing with a long lost friend. After the massage she washed and dryed my hair. I requested a blowout. The end result was fantastic! I should note that Char did not charge me for the quick massage but I would have gladly paid her for a full massage had my schedule not been so tight.
