I went in for jumbo lump crab meat. It was almost completely free of shells and a great size. The service left MUCH to be desired. The staff wasn't there to open the store on time so I had to wait for close to 15 minutes past 8 to get in. They also spoke about me in Spanish and didn't think I understood. While I'm not fluent, I picked up enough to understand that the cashier was agitated by the fact that I was waiting in the parking lot when she arrived although she was late. They sell you anything, no matter what it looks like and charge you what they want. I will travel all the way to The Fruit Stand in Breaux Bridge and buy their seafood before I spend a dime at this facility. The staff at the Fruit Stand are nice, friendly and very helpful. They go above and beyond for their customers, unlike Chez Francois. I came here because I wanted some BLUE CRABS while I was in Louisiana, and this place did not disappoint! I see other reviews about crawfish, but I didn't get crawfish so I can only speak on the crab. I got the jumbo crab. It ran me $32 for half a dozen, which did feel a bit steep, I'm not going to lie. But I will admit they were absolutely DELICIOUS! Perfectly seasoned, super spicy, and just what I needed to get my fix! The service was pretty good, yet simple. You just call and place your order, then go and pick it up. I didn't have any issues with that at all, and they even let me go in the cooler to see the sizes of the crabs myself prior to buying, and I appreciate the transparency. The vibe is quaint, chill, and relaxed. Getting there is a bit tricky, because if you're coming from the RaceTrac side, you'll be waiting FOREVER to be able to cross over. I strongly recommend not using that lil side street by the Racetrac. Just keep driving down Evangeline Thruway and make a U-turn further down because nobody will let you over. Again, crabs were delicious and perfect. I feel like they should have a seating area to eat! I had to drive to Brown park and find seating there. On my way to Texas to visit my daughter I decided to stop in Lafayette to get some boiled crawfish. I chose this place at random. Although they were decidedly unfriendly, I thought how wrong could I go. I soon found out. When the lady handed me my order, 3# of boiled crawfish, it felt a bit light and so I questioned her. She assured me that she had weighed it herself and that it was indeed 3 lbs. Upon reaching my destination, I put the bag on my daughters food scale - 1.7 pounds. Buyer beware!!! read more

Not only that, they are trying to over charge for crawfish and give you the wrong size, and THEN they want to argue with customers when they get called out! Service is Quality is They are nothing but a southern joke. Do yourself a favor and buy from the cajun people who aren't trying to give you a colon cleanse against your will. I purchased a pound of lump crab meat to make Corn and Crab Soup. I am so disappointed to find crab shells in nearly every bite after spending the whole day making soup. I called last Saturday to reserve two sacks of crawfish for the following Monday at 11 o'clock in the morning. Whenever I showed up on Monday to pick up the crawfish the person at the register informed me that they would not be getting the crawfish in until later on that evening. I had planned an entire boil around them saying that they would have the product at the time that I needed and them not having it pushed back the day because I had to find someone last minute who had what I needed. I showed up, paid the $85 and was handed small crawfish. When I pointed it out, I was told "take it or leave it". I told him fine, just charge me the right price, he flat out refused! 3 times in the last two weeks I stopped to get boiled crabs because of their flashing electronic sign advertising live and boiled crabs. They did not have them even one of the times. Even after being reassured yesterday they would have them today. Drove from out of town to get them today only to find out they didn't have them. Not sure why you advertise a product you don't have. There was a time years ago when this was the go to place for crabs and crawfish. We called the day before we drove 3 hrs to pick up live crab and were told they would hold 2 dozen jumbo for us. When we were close we decided to call again to let them know we were close and we were told they had no jumbo crabs left, but had large. We proceeded to go ahead and get the large and upon arrival we were told by the Hispanic woman that they have been out of crabs since morning, but they would have some later. I asked if I needed to prepay and was advised that I could just come in and pay the day of pick up. I receive a phone call at 830PM telling me that they were not going to be able to have any crawfish that only small were available and that I could come in and check them out or go elsewhere. FRESH, HOT, and FAIRLY PRICED in our house, we're spoiled to great seafood. So far as take-out crawfish, this is outta the park! Yeah, there's a spanish-speaking clerk, but I wasnt there to converse with her while I waited, just to get huge, delicious crawfish at a great price-- and boy did they deliver! She can stay on the phone all day for all I care; she took my order promptly and then went about her business. They blew my expectations out of the water; every last one was large, too; no babies filling the bottom of the sack. This will be my primary place for me, my family, and any tourist who asks!
