We stopped here because our first choice had an hour wait. There was a very little wait only because they had to make a table for 3-4 people because they are still social distancing. Service was ok but every time we asked a question our server didn't know the answer. There is no substituting anything on the menu. What the menu says is what you get. The food had no seasoning whatsoever. Very bland and the portions are not worth the price. Don't recommend this place.

My husband ordered both of us a seafood platter on Valentine's Day. The food was awful. The only thing was tasteful was the baked potato. Salad had only lettuce with a sliced lemon on top. Food was cold. You pay $30.00 and not satisfied. I will never visit here again.

I visit Soileau's almost every time I'm in Opelousas. The food is consistently good! My mom had the fried shrimp and catfish platter and I had the pepper steak. For someone who eats like a bird (other ppl's words, not mine), I finished my entire plate of pepper steak. It was strips of filet mignon so tender it could be cut with a fork. The sautéed onion and bell pepper mix accompanying the steak was so flavorful! The meal was made complete with a stuffed baked potato on the side. Sweet tea was really good. Service was five stars. I am one happy customer right now!

According to their sign, Soileau's has been in business since 1937. That's an amazing amount of time for a local family-owned business. It certainly seems like an old-school seafood and steak place. They have two seating areas, one darker and more private, the other more open and bright. The waitstaff is very polite and attentive, and the food is quite good. They have a daily lunch special that is typically a very good value, and comes with a salad. Po-Boys are large and luscious as well. Prices are moderate, and the menu has lots to choose from. Although they are a little off the main highway thoroughfares, it is worth the slight detour to have a nice meal.

Stopped here for lunch on our way from Marksville to Lafayette and enjoyed it thoroughly. I ordered the Pecan Brochette - tender pieces of filet tossed with fresh grilled pecans, served with sauteed mushrooms, salad, and choice of potato (I chose a stuffed baked potato). It was quite possibly the best lunch I've ever had, simply delicious. My wife ordered a combo platter that had fried shrimp, crab claws, shrimp Creole, gumbo, stuffed bell pepper, stuffed crab, and salad and she really liked it, too. I'll definitely be back!

Found this place because they were open on a Monday. Boy are we glad! Started with the chicken and sausage gumbo - delicious! My friend got the fried catfish and shrimp. Both were wonderful and light. Loved that different coating was used on different protein. I got the stuffed flounder with shrimp and crab stuffing. Again delicious! The only reason I gave 4 stars, instead of 5, was there was a lot of shell in the stuffing. Will be back!!

Nice family restaurant ....located In the hood.. The staff was basically just a bunch of kids.. Nice kids but certainly not seasoned pros.. This is a nice family type restaurant (in the hood).. We ordered our food to go. Wife had fried gator .. I had a shrimp poboy. The fried gator and fries weren't very good. There was absolutely no taste to the order. Very dissapointed... The shrimp poboy was pretty good plenty of shrimp.. Bread was perfect... Overall I was disappointed.. The other yelp reviews made me think this place was gold.. My findings were it was average and overpriced.. I did like that poboy.. But I'm not bringing my family back into that neighborhood again at dark

Original order - look at how much food!!

I'm so glad we decided to venture to this little gem in spite of the few negatives reviews I read;…read morewhich were really very silly. This restaurant is not a prepackaged, boxed food, chain restaurant. In fact it's really special and if you take the time to drive here you should take the time to scan the walls. They are filled with accolades and awards won over the years. I have no vested interest in this establishment nor I don't know the owner/chef. I'm just another traveler passing through, looking at this place more as a living piece of American culture, while avoiding all of the fast food spots dotted along the roads. I wasn't there when someone served overcooked food, but I will tell you that if something wasn't quite right a mere conversation with the sever would've resolved the issue. Dealing out nastiness isn't serving anyone and it isn't helping the management make things better for your dining experience and it isn't serving the community overall. We found everyone to be very nice & efficient at their jobs. The 2 of us arrived Sunday, 8/16/26, at 1pm. We were greeted & seated by a pleasant young person, which promptly was followed up with our server, Lauren, taking and serving our drink orders. Our Salads, Crab & Crawfish Cakes soon followed and cooked as requested; cooked throughout with no soft, fleshy middle. We also ordered and shared the Grilled Chicken, green beans & carrots -- DELICIOUS! Lightly seasoned, juicy & very tender. It was the best chicken we've eaten in a very long time. We skipped desert since we had to get back on the road to Texoma; but, we will definitely seek this place out and dine here again in the future. I took as many photos as time allowed. I hope you will enjoy this beautiful, rustic space as much as we did and don't forget to ask the host to give you a page of history about the building. Safe travels and Bon appetit!

Well worth the little drive. Off street parking, partly paved & partly shaded private lot on Bayou Courtableau. Great waitstaff. Don't miss this hidden jewel and old favorite !
