I've been coming to Charlie's seafood restaurant for years, and I stop by for my regular dish everytime I'm here: kung pao shrimp. It's perfect everytime, and the broccoli is always perfect. I wish they'd share their sauce recipe so I can make it at home. They're always friendly when I come, and one time they even gave me a free gift that was like a keepsake from their culture. The fried shrimp are always big and juicy, and I think it does what it's supposed to do. = I usually use their drive thru, which has always been pretty fast for me. They'll have you park ahead and wait if you food is still being prepared, which isn't bad for me. Just means it's being fried fresh. The inside seems pretty basic and a normal ambiance, although I've seen a couple people have odd encounters. I don't know, I tend to keep things pretty simple, but others find themselves in arguments with the workers. Maybe the customer service isn't great, but like I said, my order is usually simple and I tend to drive through, so maybe the simplicity shields me from unfavorable customer service, as I don't have order modifications or special requests. I'll still be coming everytime I'm in Louisiana to get the same dish I loved since high school. Love me some Charlie's! read more

This is our go to restaurant when working on that end of town. Grilled catfish and combo lo mein are my regulars.

Pros: Big portions Inexpensive The fries are plain unseasoned crinkle cut fries but they have a shaker of seasoning on the counter so you can season it yourself which I prefer. Really liked the soft bread a plentiful amount of shrimp on the Po boy Cons: Oily The fried fish is served on top of the fried rice on the platter so the oil drips down making the rice even oilier. The rice had a good flavor but I kept having to wipe excess oil off my lips. The big con for me was neither the men's or women's bathroom had soap. Not even a soap dispenser that was empty, just no soap whatsoever. I had to go to the counter to ask them to provide soap. We wanted to put my infant in a highchair but it looked dirty so I wiped it down with a sanitizer wipe and the wipe was black... so doesn't seem like they clean the highchairs very often. This place is a good option for decent fried seafood if you get it to go. read more

The fried fish here is good, perfectly seasoned. The Fries are sized nicely, nothing can top fish and chips!

I stopped here after a mardi gras parade and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. I have heard many great things about this place and was happy to try it after opening its new location since the fire. I tried the jalapeno chicken with fries. It was just the way i like it. SUPER SPICY! The chicken was also really tender. I asked for a side of honey mustard for my fries to dip in. I love the fact that the service was relatively fast and my food came out fresh. We had a very good meal with quick service. The seafood platter was wonderful. I highly recommend eating there.

Nothing fancy here, it's fast food and you get what you pay for. The women's bathroom was clean, but the seating area could be kept up a bit nicer. No condiments are out for you to grab or on the table, so you have to ask for everything. They don't carry cocktail sauce and assume you love tartar. They'll put an entire square of the to go box full of tartar, so make sure to ask for it to be left out if you're not a fan. The large fried shrimp portion was VERY LARGE. You have a choice of shrimp fried rice or French fries. This restaurant is catered more for drive thru and to go. At least three "waitr" people came inside for to go orders and three other couples came inside to order to go as well. We were the only couple "dining in". If you're in the area I would say try it if you need something quick, but wouldn't recommend going out of the way. read more

Fried fish, shrimp and oysters served with fries or shrimp fried rice. Batter is light and crunchy with a little bit of a kick. They also have Chinese food. Eat in or take out, including drive through. Large plates could easily serve 2 people. read more

After a bit of a tough time navigating the area, we found Charlie's Seafood Restaurant on our way back from New Orleans. They are mostly drive thru and takeout, so we were the only dine in customers at that time of the day. The food that family and I ordered consisted of a crawfish poboy, a fried fish burger, a seafood platter, and a baked potato with chicken. The service was not egregiously long, but it took a lot longer than a lot of places serving the same type of food would. The crawfish poboy was a bit cold, but that's because there are a lot of other fresh ingredients on there like lettuce and tomato. The sandwich was very flavorful nonetheless. The people there are very nice, and the restaurant is very clean and neat. Overall, I'd recommend this place. read more

Love love love this place! They burned down a few months ago and were finally able to reopen. The food is just as good as it was before they were forced to close plus there's now more seating in the newly rebuilt restaurant. I love that I can get the fish and seafood platters grilled as I do not like fried seafood. The prices are reasonable. I just wish they had fountain drinks as I do not want to spend almost $3 to add a 20oz bottle of soda to my order. read more

The food was okay... but I wouldn't do it ever again. I ordered the philly cheese steak and fries on the day it was the special, but I was charged full price. Terrible service. Terrible managers/owners. Owner DOESN'T listen and argues with you if they give you wrong order. My last order had plastic paper attached to my fried porkchop. This was a great surprise trying to find something fast on way to NOLA. I had seafood plater w/ 4 shrimp, 4 oysters, & 2 fish. It is Asian fusion so my side was fried rice. All for $8.50. Placed an order over the phone and advised the young lady that I'm enroute. The lady took the order and stated that they're closing soon, however she wanted to ensure I was enroute; I informed her that I was. I drove all the way over there, 10 minutes, only to find the lights out. I was advised that they've sold my order: I ordered 7 seafood platters. So, the owner/worker comes out and said we thought you weren't coming and we sold your order. So, in 10 minutes you sold 7 seafood platters? Another older guy who may be the actual owner states come back around the drive thru, let me see what we have left. Who waits around to purchase leftover food? No one called to ask if I was coming to get the order if they've even had thoughts about me not coming to get the food and why even take my order if you're not going to prepare it. So: No thank you, I pay for what I want, I don't eat scraps, and just as I've no longer done business with Kevin's for the same lack of professionalism, overt racism, and lack of care for the people in the community in which they serve, I'll do the same with your restaurant. A worker who was outside of the business who happens to be black states I know who took your order. I asked who, and she gestured towards the lady who ran to her car. Probably one of my favorite places to get seafood! Fried Catfish! Fried Shrimp! I used to get it every time! Then I tried them both grilled, I like it even better! The seasoning they use to make it spicy is their trademark secret recipe I also tried the hamburger steak which is delicious as well.
