Absolutely Loved this place. Stumbled across this place by accident but then later i heard its one of those few places in the old quebec city thats open on sunday late nights. We were starving so we ended up buying ALOT of food and drinks!! No! No regrets there coz everything was great. Loved the performance of the solo musician that night. I think his amazing talent and everything else about the place put together created a great ambiance for the place. Now to the best part ! Service! Our server was Mathieu (hopefully spelled the name correctly) and he was the cherry on top. We had to sit outside and it was a fairly cold day but to be honest we barely felt like complaining about it because he made us feel so welcome!! A wonderful place to eat. I had ordered the classic burger and a homemade lemonade, both left me more than satisfied. The fries are what blew me away. Their warm a steamy inside and thick crispy outside was perfection, I wanted a whole plate of them instead of the burger. I felt the portion was too much, it was a quarter of the plate salad, half of the plate fries and a quater was the burger. It was overwhelming. I would not recommend this place. The only reason I gave 2 stars was the guy on the guitar was fun and the beer was cold. Service is poor. We didn't enjoy the pizza or fish and chips. I had to ask 3x for malt vinegar for the fish and chips. She finally went next door and got a to-go plastic little container, splashing as she brought it. So I live in the States, but grew up in Eastern Canada and always fly in to Quebec when coming home, so I can spend time in Vieux Quebec, as my heart is tied to this city. Have passed Murphy's many times but never stopped in (ALWAYS great bands playing, but I normally travel alone, so don't normally frequent bars/pubs when alone). Queue January 6th, 2021, red Covid days, and I'm staying down the street, so stopped in for takeout. I'm in love with this place now! The food is good, their craft beer was great, the music is still awesome, but with all that I'll be back because of the people! With all the shit going on in the world, and watching the Trumpers riot Washington DC while I was waiting for my food, my heart has been heavy. But the staff were all very warm and upbeat, there was joy in the room and hope in the air, and great music filling the room. I know this is starting to sound corny, but when a place (filled with strangers) can lift your spirits when you don't think there's any way possible, you take notice. I also had a nice long conversation with the owner Jean-François, and left feeling happy, and hopeful, and reminded why I love this city so much - because of the people! So happy to see Covid hasn't taken hold of this place, and excited to hear they have plans of more local music and art to share with their customers this summer! See you all in May! Just perusing Quebec City during their Marathon Race and was in the mood for a smoked meat sandwich so I randomly picked Chez Murphy's. The hostess was pleasant and spoke English. My waitress, Drew, was amazing. Not only is she strikingly beautiful (like Nicole Kidman) but her service was impeccable. Her English sounded native but listening to her French, gave me the impression that she was well versed in both languages. I ordered the smoked sandwich and it was THE best one I've had, even compared to in Montreal! Drew helped me with my beer of choice, a dark stout and she did not disappoint. She recommended the Aphrodisiaque (local brand). Loved everything about the meal, the beer, and the service. Thank you Drew for making my meal in Quebec perfect! read more

I'm just reviewing our receipts from our vacation and was reminded that our worst meal over 2+ weeks was here. We stopped for a drink and wanted to share a small meal. Their Murphy's Smoked Meat Poutine sounded like a good dish to share. When it finally came, the potatoes had been deep fried several times, the gravy was lukewarm so the curds were still solid. The smoked meat was minimal and the onion rings were non-existent. If I could have caught our waiter's attention, it would have been sent back. Did not like this place at all. First off, it took about 15-20 minutes for the server to approach our table to even bring water, and mind you, the place was not crowded at all. When he came, he was very unapologetic. We ordered the nacho du pub and they was very dry and way too crispy. The stone fire flatbread pizza was also very dry and way too salty, I didn't even eat half of it. We were with a group of 10 people so I expected some issues with timing and such. But was really disappointed when our food came out spaced over an hour. 2 people in our group had eaten and had 2 rounds of drinks before the last of our group was served. Out of 10 people only one order came out correctly. Most of us were just too hungry after waiting almost an hour for our food, to wait for them to fix our orders so we ate what they brought us. Food was decent (it's barfood so we had low expectations ) but overpriced. The nice college kids serving us were trying hard, but clearly they are either poorly trained or the kitchen is not running properly.
