I stopped going to this place after the served me old shrimp three times and told me that I was full of crap and that the shrimp were fresh. I am sorry, but when four Thai Food lovers all say that the shrimp is bad, it is bad. This place is run by a woman who should not be running a restaurant. I got take out from there last night, chicken tom yum soup and beef pad thai. There were maybe only 3 piece of small chicken in my soup, the beef pad thai was a little too sweet. The menu didn't seem to authentic either... Anyways, I don't think i will be back again, also the service was not so great for take out, the girl behind the counter was definitely on a personal call and ignored me for like 2-3 minutes. When the mood strikes, I'm a huge fan of Thai food. Chez Siam is just the spot to go for good Thai in the Marlborough area (though my favorite in MetroWest is Green Papaya in Waltham.) A stand-alone building, which in my experience is a rarity for the normally strip-mall-inhabiting Thai restaurant. Always very good and prompt service and I've never had to wait for a table. The thing I look forward to each time is the glass noodle duck soup - a real treat. Haven't found anything I haven't liked there yet. Worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

I tried this place again last night, this time ordering the basil pad thai with tofu. There were all of three or four tables being served by one waitress, and the service was abysmal. I felt like I had to flag down the waitress to ask for things like hot sauce or more water or the check. It was frustrating. The noodles were greasy, though the tofu was alright. The basil leaves mixed in were delicious except that they were too big and I felt like they should have been cut up more. Blech. read more

Got takeout one and had lunch once. Took several calls to get someone to answer. Pad Thai was good and the serving size left plenty for leftovers. Panang chicken was great. Veggies in it were really fresh and cooked al dente. My husband liked the tamarind duck more than I did. Small serving for the price. When we came for lunch we got a free chicken noodle soup. I got Panang chicken again and my husband had yellow curry which tasted Indian and had what tasted like fresh pineapple. Serving size on both curries was ample. Service was attentive. I don't even know if this place qualifies as Thai food. We got takeout because it's pretty close to us. The menu has quite a few options, so we ordered a variety of things. When we arrived, the restaurant seemed more like someone's extended dinning room than anything else. It's a faded pink and everything is covered in plastic. There was only one table with customers. The food we got was bad. None of the veggies were fresh. They were all limp/mushy and drained of color--pathetic. It's cheaper to buy fresh veggies, especially for a restaurant, so frozen makes no sense. All the appetizers came straight out of the freezer and were poorly reheated. The worst part was the bland flavors, something real Thai food can't be accused of. Spare your wallet and tastebuds, avoid this place. read more

I am a huge fan of their Pad Thai! They are also so nice there....One evening 20 minutes before closing they so gracious and welcoming enough to seat my husband and me and quickly feed us two delicious plates of Pad Thai. Like the other reviewer said: they will bring the food out in 2 minutes. Not kidding. The appetizers were frozen and be careful not to loose a tooth. A good choice for metro-west. The physical environment is better than the other Thai restaurants around; the staff is good and the food is consistently okay ... if a bit uninspired. If really good Thai food is what you're after, you'll need to head into Arlington or Boston. I don't get the mix of reviews on this place. I go all the time and the food is always awesome. The best Pad Thai I've ever had, in fact. I'm no expert, I've never been to Thailand (and probably never will), and I don't really care if something is authentic as long as it tastes good at a good price (8.95 for a big serving). I also don't get why it's always empty at night. Usually that's a bad sign, but I've never had a bad meal here. This is THE special destination when the work gang goes out for lunch. Everyone that I work with is jealous that I live right down the street and can eat here so often. Not much on atmosphere, they have delicious and fresh food. I tried the veggie pad thai, and it was incredible. Not a ton of spice, but they even added crunchy green beans. It wasn't oily, and I ate the whole thing without feeling the slightest bit gross. My coworker ordered a delicious tamarind duck that was also fresh and yummy. I haven't been to Chez Siam for about 2 years or so and the food was great, just the same as it was then. The chicken massaman was spicy and just so wonderful. My friend got a chicken dish with ginger and it was really flavorful. While the food was top notch, on this night, the service was abysmal. Usually when I have been there, it's been top notch, but once the waitress brought the food, we never saw her again at our table. At one point we wanted some extra rice and drinks, but she seemed to be busy with other tables and we waited awhile, forgetting about the extras. We waited for the check and finally my friend went up to pay at the counter as the waitress again was too busy with other tables. The food is really good and I like the restaurant a lot, but service seems to have declined, at least on my visit. read more
