The wait time wasn't too bad to be seen and it was a good thing I filled out my first time patient forms already by printing it out from their website. There were a few more pages that wasn't online but it was on their high tech iPad and it was quick. We were escorted to one of the private rooms with the dental chair and Frozen was playing but it was on top facing down for anyone sitting in the chair to watch. Since my daughter was a toddler and only needed a cleaning we didn't get to watch the movie. We waited about 5 minutes for the dentist to actually come and see us which I wished was a little sooner because my daughter was getting restless and didn't want to stay on my lap on the dentist chair like they told us to do. The cleaning itself was quick and painless. My daughter was crying for a minute from not knowing what was going on but Dr. Kathy Kim did a great job calming her down with her low tone of voice and being gentle but efficient and quick. She told us exactly what we needed to know and asked if we had anymore questions but she answered everything already. Great pointers! Btw the parking lot was packed when we drove by but found plenty of street parking right outside. Way better than parking in the lot waiting for a spot. The staff there are wonderful, from the front desk to the dental assistants. There are even TVs mounted to the ceiling that are hooked up to their computers, allowing them to play a variety of kids movies so that the little ones are distracted with Lego Batman or Minions rather than the dentist picking are their teeth. The office also sees adults, so if you are nervous about getting a treatment maybe they can put on a movie for you too ^_~ .

During that visit, it was recommended that my 7-year-old son have a baby tooth extracted because his adult tooth had already begun to grow behind it, and the baby tooth was not loose. Fast forward to today, and we had an appointment scheduled for Friday, 12/13/2024, for the extraction. On Tuesday, my husband called the office with questions about the procedure, specifically regarding the use of laughing gas and the numbing process. He first spoke with Chelsea at the front desk, who was very polite and provided some answers. She also emailed us instructions to review before the visit. After reading the instructions and discussing the call, we had additional questions, so my husband called back. The second time, he spoke with a male staff member whose name we didn't catch. Unfortunately, the information he provided was unclear, and there seemed to be a misunderstanding about what we were asking. We wanted to know if laughing gas was a mandatory part of the procedure, as I recalled having a similar extraction as a child with just numbing, no gas. Additionally, we were curious about why we were instructed to give our son 1 tsp of Benadryl an hour before the procedure and wanted to understand the rationale behind that step. We also noticed that the instructions stated parents would need to wait in the waiting room during the procedure, which concerned us. After several calls, my husband mentioned that the last two people he spoke with--the male staff member and Edy, the office manager--were rude. He understood they might have been frustrated with the repeated calls, but their tone was unprofessional and unacceptable. Hearing this, I decided to step away from work to call the office myself. When I called, Chelsea answered and, as before, was kind and tried to help. She explained that Edy, the office manager, would be better able to address my questions but was on lunch at the time. Edy later returned my call, but we missed it, so I called her back. While Edy answered my questions, she did not apologize for the way she spoke to my husband. On Wednesday, I called again to speak with Chelsea because I appreciated her politeness and wanted to see if we could request an exception to allow one of us to stay in the room with our son during the procedure. Chelsea informed me that their director did not permit parents in the procedure room. While she wasn't rude, this policy left us feeling uncomfortable. To gain more perspective, we contacted three other pediatric dental offices to ask about their procedures for baby tooth extractions. Each of them said parents were welcome in the room, as if it were standard practice. After this, my husband and I decided to postpone our son's procedure and cancel the appointment at this office. At 4:15 PM, I called the office to cancel the appointment. My call went to voicemail, and I received a text message stating that the office was closed. However, their website clearly showed they were open until 6:00 PM. Out of curiosity, I called again using a different number, and the male staff member answered the phone. I told him who I was and mentioned that I had been sent to voicemail earlier and received a text stating the office was closed, which was untrue. I also brought up my husband's earlier experience with him and Hedy, expressing our disappointment. It's unfortunate because I really liked Dr. Golestani. However, due to the way the front desk staff--specifically the male employee and Edy--handled this situation, we will not be returning to this office. As a family visiting for the first time, we had valid concerns and questions about a procedure for our young child. We did not appreciate the dismissive attitude, the rude tone, or the misleading voicemail and text. As the first point of contact for patients, the front desk staff should be kind, patient, and professional. I wish I could let Dr. Golestani know directly about how we were treated because this experience does not reflect well on the office overall.

My 7 yr old daughter required services from this practice and while the dentist was good we would get unusually high bills for additional services that weren't explained prior to the appointment. What put the icing on the cake for me, after dealing with many of these up charges, was one of the receptions indicating that they needed to give my daughter nitrous oxide as anesthesia so that the dentist could on a spacer. I told the receptionist that we are declining that service and they did it anyway, without my consent. And to add insult to injury, they insisted that I pay for it!!! This place prioritizes profit over patient relationships and their nickel and diming coupled with the rudeness of the office manager made me change dentists. They will offer you unnecessary procedures/services and be rude to you if you do not consent. Steer clear of this place.

Plus, they're located in the bayside commons shopping strip, which usually means you have plenty of parking.

Ease of Appointment: Called for an initial inquiry and was led step by step to finalize an appointment. Although I was ready to pay out of pocket, Rahema was able to check into my insurance and found out there was going to be a discount/copay from my insurance. Paperwork: Straightforward and no nonsense. Follow-up- Immediate. A phone call by the doctor was made a couple hours after the tooth extraction to check in on the patient. ----------------- The actual experience------- Upon arrival, paperwork was filled out and the doctor was able to see my daughter immediately for a tooth extraction. Bedside manner of the doctor was excellent. Transition of the procedure was smooth. Additional paperwork for maintenance was given. A cute tooth holder was given to my daughter as well as additional supplies. Later that evening, the doctor called to check in to see how she was doing. This wretched, hole in the wall, battlefield triage clinic of dental butchery is filled with an incompetent gaggle of misandrous shrews. I went in to have an old filling redone, and the dentist assigned to me was an early 20-something girl apparently fresh out of dental school. We seemed to get along great for the first couple of visits (mostly cleanings and simple things). Then next visit was for a filling and as she started drilling, searing pain shot through me and we had to stop. I apologized, explained that I've always had a problem getting numb, but to give me another shot, wait a few minutes and see if I could go on. She did and started drilling again after a few minutes. Wanting to get the filling done, I tried to endure as much pain as I could, but it was too much and while holding my mouth in agony, tears welling up in my eyes, I apologized again, saying that I was sorry and that I wasn't trying to be a difficult patient or make her job harder, but that I was just in incredible pain. She then gave me this look of anger and disgust and walked away shaking her head. Her assistant came afterwards to clean up and said I should come back and try another day. Now, you would think a patient apologizing to her for the pain she was inflicting on them, would prompt her to say something like, "Oh, no need to apologize! It's not your fault. If you're in pain, just let me know so we can try something different." But no, bizarrely she became livid at me like I did something wrong! The look she gave me was like I had insulted her dead mother while slapping her child! I couldn't figure out what the hell just happened. Up until then, we had been very friendly but I saw the look in her face and realized that something had changed and that my next visit to that office wasn't going to be pleasant. But I made a follow up appointment anyway and came back. The 20 something dentist came to the front desk, saw me and dashed off to the back. I could already imagine the entire drama unfolding back there; the lies/story she'd be telling the head dentist about me. The walls are low and paper thin, so even though I couldn't make out much of what she was saying, the insistent, urgent tone and almost hysterical edge to her voice was clear. Whatever story she was cooking up back there, it was a whopper. Immediately, I knew how this was going to go down, but I thought, there was a chance that when the head dentist meets me, she'll see immediately that I'm a totally different person from whatever impression Chicken Little just painted of me to her. However, I left nothing to chance. I became a human Quaalude - just the most zen, peaceful, calm, mild and pleasant person you could ever hope to meet. So when Maria Acebo, the head dentists walked into the room instead of the 20 something, I wasn't surprised. I said, "good morning" in a soft, dulcet tone, smiling gently and was absolutely milquetoast. As predicted, Acebo was curt with me; irritated, in a rush, absent minded and I could see that she trying to find something wrong with me or what I said to justify kicking me out. She went to give me an injection to numb my mouth and I told her about my numbing difficulties, to which she immediately said that I should go to a different dentist that offered general anesthesia. Stunned at her naked effort to get rid of me, I explained that no insurance covers general anesthesia for non surgical procedures so I'd have to have it done under local. But she knew that already and was just trying to pull a fast one. She said she'd make an appointment with a specialist for me, and then I heard her on the phone with another dental clinic, actually trying to transfer me over to them as a patient without my consent! I calmly asked her if that's what she was doing and that's when she finally found something she could use as an excuse to create a fake argument. While I stood there calmly, she exploded in the most absurd, over the top and psychotic display of melodrama rivaling one of the Real Housewives of New Jersey; yelling at the top of her lungs, putting on a wild show for the 20 something dentist and her staff (as well as the patients in the waiting room) and bellowed at me to get out and that I was no longer a patient there and never to come back. The final act of her little soap opera was complete and I left there happily, never wanting to set foot in that viper nest again. Ever since, I've been going to the NYU dental clinic and it's been hands down the best dental experience I've ever had. The students are better dentists than the riff raff employed at Maria Acebo's Tijuana donkey show of a dental practice. Avoid this emotionally unhinged mercurial quack at all costs. Your teeth will thank you for it, as will your blood pressure.
