Review isn't in regard to my care....it was excellent. No it's about being charged $368.00 for a phone visit thst lasted less than 5 minutes AND not billed to insurance. I have been getting calls about this and have explained in detail what my insurance is...waiting on an itemized statement that includes the ICD10 billing codes and how it was submitted. Having done insurance work at a hospital based clinic I know this bill has some issues that are in need of explanation. Typically visits are billed in 15 minute increments. I been going here for three years , I got RSV and was instructed to follow up with my primary doctor. Vanessa G was very rude, unprofessional and refused to give me an appointment. I called clinic manager Karen H. who was very rude also, canceled my follow up appointment,told me she has a black man and grandchildren so she is not racist. Smh I had RSV since March 7th. Karen lied on me and canceled my doctor appointment and follow ups with my therapist. She is a very nasty lady and karma will get her for sure. I'm so glad I'm not a patient here anymore. read more

I have been very pleased with the care provided by the doctors and nurses at CHI Franciscan/Virginia Mason. The utter lack of concern and professionalism by their billing/insurance department is another matter. Disorganized, inefficient, and rude are the only ways that I can use to describe their behavior. After using Medicare with UHC supplement to cover my services without question, I am notified the night before a scheduled appointment that I need to call Medicare to obtain proof that Medicare is my primary insurance. I was told to cancel my visit and reschedule and if I did not contact Medicare to obtain proof, then my visit would be considered a "no show." I'm done with them. As an aside, why was a lab tech for my blood draw wearing a mask with the pronouns "It, she, they" printed on the mask? Really? Having pronouns on the badge isn't good enough? I do not recommend this ER department for actual emergencies. I came in with an open, bleeding, deep cut on my right wrist. I currently live in my truck so I'm wearing paint stained clothing and worn down work boots...keep this in mind, perception is Key!! After sitting for over an hour, with my right hand getting colder, I was rebandaged and sent back to the waiting room. After an additional wait my cut washed out...and had to wait longer. While waiting and I'm 8/10 pain I was given nothing to manage it or to prep me for stitches...never had 'em before. As Dr. Le is injecting numbing agent into my open cut, I'm in severe agony and she says it's a superficial cut. One of her jabs is so deep it hit a nerve and I jerked away. Dr. Le responds by saying "I have a needle!" I apologized even though it's not at all what I wanted to say. While letting the numbing agent take effect, a nurse came in and began to bandage the wound. I though, the bleeding has stopped, I don't need stitched after all. Then Dr. Le returned and ordered the nurse to reclean the sight for sutures. That thoroughly pissed me off!! I don't come to the er for superficial issues...stitched aren't superficial. When all done I wasn't given anything for the pain and at this point there's a lot of it because the numbing agent wore off. It really doesn't seem as if I can receive unbiased treatment at any hospital, the poor or the snooty ones...sad and pathetic that you assume a patient's objective instead listening to them. I called the er back, after taking ibuprofen and waiting, then Tylenol which I was told to take by the nurse and doctor. I'm told there's nothing more they can do and immediately started badgering as if I'm a vagrant looking to score drugs. Stitches come out in 7 to 10 days but I'll be damned if I came back here. Too much pride and privilege...discrimination based on appearance and circumstance. Considering litigation for malpractice, the treatment I received from Dr. Le specifically isn't ok at all! read more

This is really a zero-star review! CHI may have some good Doctors but if you EVER have to deal with their billing department they are a complete nightmare! I think they take the cake for the most difficult company I have ever dealt with. No one ever tells you the same thing, I even spoke to a supervisor yesterday after spending 10-12 hours over the last 6 weeks trying to resolve something and he gave me incorrect information also. No one knows anything in the billing department beyond having the ability to maybe answer the phone. CHI subcontracts this job out and they made a poor choice in doing this and it makes them look horrible. Today Feb 5, we went in for the vaccination per our appointment. We were concerned about long lines because my 90 year old father can't stand long. However, when we got to the front entrance, the lady who was in charge of taking /checking temperatures for each person was so helpful. She brought out a wheelchair and helped my father into it, then guided us to the next step. After the shot, everyone was asked to sit down for 15 minutes. During this time, the doctors were on standby to make sure we were all okay and didn't have some immediate side effects. While waiting, we were so impressed and thankful to the doctors and staff who all went the extra mile to provide great care. We want to thank the entire CHI Franciscan staff, the front entrance, the front desk, register, nurses, and doctors. Your kindness and professionalism means a lot to us and to everyone there. He lies about the medications he made major mistake and then lied about.He said he contacted my pharmacist and corrected the mistake but he didn't. And he lied on my chart. And to this day hasn't fixed the mistake so I will run out my pain meds 2 days before the prescription he wrote for me are wrong and he hasn't done anything yet. My dr is Eric Alyea, he's the greatest! Been going 2 him for a few monthsNOT ONLY is he the bestest looking dr I ever had,but he's also a very wonderful dr. Hes been treating my R arm for several months now due to a flexor tendon tare I received from being a victim of a mva. The office staff is wonderful. If you can avoid this place, do. The whole system outside of my primary care doctor seems messed up. The first thing that's horrible, is there a location. You can either drive to Burien or go to south of Lakewood in Tacoma. Either way you're going to face an hour of traffic most days. Most doctors were spent maybe three minutes with you. If he is an iPhone, there is no app available. You have to log onto their system through the web. Their system is terrible. I have an appointment scheduled for a particular day. I am texted a reminder of the appointment a couple of days before. What's the problem? Well, I show up for the appointment, and they tell me it's the next day - despite being called and texted a reminder for the appointment on the day that I showed up to the office. Most places, if you go through something like this, will work to fit you in once you show up, especially if the error is on their side. Not with Chi. Then there's the time I went to get a blood draw. I have a standing appointment and I'm required to get blood taken on a regular basis. I show up for the blood draw and the blood technician says she has no record of me on file and cannot take blood. Paragraph then I get in trouble a week later trying to refill my prescriptions because I haven't had a blood draw. It seems I'm not the only one giving a low rating, so at least I'm not alone. But I will be seeking health care elsewhere. read more

I received a bill in Dec 2021 and paid it in full immediately. They kept resending the bill. Lots of phone calls including 3 ways with my bank. The bill was cleared with their endorsement and then both the bank I sent them a copy of the cleared bill with their endorsement on it. They sent it to collections. Here it is 7 months later and I am meeting with a lawyer tomorrow as the harassment continues for a bill that was fully paid. I went to the J street location after a serious fall a week ago and received less than adequate treatment. I followed up a few days later when the prescribed treatment didn't help, and they didn't want to see me again. I am sure they thought I was drug seeking. I am a 73-year-old woman who does not take any narcotics and had a serious fall and the pain was bad and I could barely breathe. I needed assistance doing a multitude of tasks including getting out of bed. Thankfully my nurse practitioner was able to see me a couple of days later and I am now on the med. I will never seek medical attention from a CHI Franciscan Urgent Care again. I will seek any urgent care needs through multi care. read more

Hi everyone. Here's both a summary and the full story of my awful experience with CHI Franciscan. Long story summarized: I couldn't get through to Franciscan on multiple occasions, even to urgently renew a prescription. I wasn't told to come early to a doctor's appointment, and was not allowed to see the doctor when I was 3 minutes late. Never mind the irony that I had to wait 45 minutes for a scheduled appointment. No one responded to multiple complaints - in fact, I left a handwritten message fro Nance Quimosing, Clinic Manager, and she responded by sending me a letter scolding and threatening me. The very first time I called Franciscan Burien, an automated message told me the phone line was out of service. I wish I'd heeded that red flag and not gone down a long road of the worst experience I've ever had with a medical provider. I first reached out to CHI Franciscan because one of their doctors, Dr. Sales, was one of a handful of people approved for Botox for migraine, which I wanted to give a try after my migraines have started getting worse and worse. When I couldn't reach them by the phone, I finally went and spoke to them. Arranging the referral and first appointment was fairly normal after that. I waited for approval from my insurance and then finally got in to do my first botox treatment. It wasn't pleasant, to say the least. I waited over 45 minutes for the doctor and the experience was agonizing. I was told I could wait in the waiting room, where I panted and tried not to throw up or pass out. I finally managed to stumble out to my car where I cried and had a slow, shaky drive home. Even though the first round of Botox often causes a worsening of migraines, it worked great for me! The one issue I had was the Botox got into my eyebrow and eyelid and I looked like I'd suffered a small stroke. I was scheduled to come back in February, but in early January I started getting strange headaches as I woke up and my eyelid started looking normal, so I figured it was time for the next treatment. I called a few times and was finally able to reach Dr. Sales' office. They seemed really flustered and told me Dr. Sales had left abruptly and weren't able to provide me with a referral expect for a doctor in Tacoma. I spent the afternoon calling my primary care physician at Polyclinic and other doctors. That evening, I realized Dr. Sales had prescribed me Nortriptyline as an additional treatment for the migraines and I was almost out. There were no refills either. I called the neurologist office several times (not at lunch) and wasn't able to get through. I left a message with the main operator and had my Walgreens submit a request as well. But when I went to get it on Saturday, the office has never responded. I was able to get a 3-day extension from Walgreens and I called every number for Franciscan, including their main customer complaint line where I left a message. I finally got someone from the medical pavilion who was gracious enough to get me an appointment on Monday with a doctor who could renew my prescription. She was very nice, but didn't tell me I needed to be there 15 minutes early to complete paperwork and it also didn't occur to me, since I already had a full file with complete history in the Franciscan records. On Monday, I was 3 minutes late to my appointment and they told me I should've been there 15 minutes early. They told me I'd need to reschedule and couldn't help me with a simple prescription renewal. I asked to speak with a supervisor and they made me wait for 25 minutes then told me she was busy but if I left my complaint with a phone number, she'd call me right back. I walked over to the neurologists' office next and they were surprised. They said that the operator should've provided my message and had no explanation for why they weren't getting messages. They HAD actually gotten the urgent call from Walgreens and submitted my renewal to Walgreens in the end. Not only did I NOT receive a call from either the pavilion supervisor or the complaint center, today I received a letter from Nance Quimosing, Clinic Manager, scolding me for being late and threatening me that if I was late again, I would be banned for Franciscan. read more

I had a wonderful first experience here today. I needed to find another primary care provider as my previous one left her practice. I think the facility here is beautiful and welcoming. I was greeted by the front desk staff (next to their cozy fireplace in the lobby!); easy check in, and they led me to my room where a nurse was waiting for me to check me in. The nurse was great- super efficient, thorough and kind! After that, I had a short wait to see my doctor who was also wonderful. She was efficient, heard all my concerns, and asked great questions. Okay, let me just summarize the majority of the reviews you are about to see: - "I would give them 0 stars if I could" - If they say they take your insurance, they will make sure to find a way you won't be covered - Don't be 3 minutes late to your appointment; but they will make you wait a half hour if you are on time -You will most likely have to dispute charges and go through at least a year long process of doing so -You will get charged the same bill for months maybe even years to come - They love to fudge your medical history for their benefit - Their billing department is completely and utterly unorganized Here's my own experience if you need more of a reason to turn away now and protect your wallet as well as your mental sanity: -Chose CHI after making extensive efforts to make sure my insurance covered it - Starting making appointments but found it weird I wasn't being charged for the first 3-4 visits - Finally started receiving charges to see I was being charged WAY more than what I was told I was being covered - All the charges were different prices even though I was going to the same exact visits for the same amount of time with no special treatments for any visit - Called their billing department I kid you not when they told me they couldn't answer ANY of my questions about the bills because it was against policy (allegedly) - Had to call my insurance to figure everything out - Turns out they charged me for the wrong person, who wasn't under my insurance (that was a major thing among other things they fudged in their documentation) - The billing department was told they had to fix their paperwork - Never did so and continued to contact me saying everything was resolved - So much more but don't have the energy, am so mentally drained after everything One final point. After reading through the majority of the reviews it seems there's a pattern with the complaints. The bad - Hard to get appointments - Even after you get an appointment it is 15 mins to wait to check in - Staff at front desk is grouchy - Takes 30 minutes to get someone on the phone - Generally disorganized at the front desk - Will ask you to sign a document electronically without giving it to you to read. - Never get a doctor just a nurse practitioner - Impersonal and cold - If you are 5 minutes late for your appointment they will reschedule you but they make you wait 30 minutes if you are on time. I had a great clinical care team in Burien, and I have no complaints about the provider side of this organization. The Billing Department does not believe in customer service. Do not choose CHI if you know you'll need more than a simple office visit, as you will probably get ripped off. Read on if you care to hear the details... I worked hard to gather estimates for what I could expect my care to cost (the pre-insurance charges, not the adjusted patient responsibility), but the actual total charges came in 28% over the median cost for my type of procedure. I was not given any medical reason for why my case was so much more expensive than the median estimate, and in fact my colonoscopy was quick and easy. Sedation lasted 12 minutes, and no complications were noted in my After Visit Summary. The Estimate system is fundamentally flawed, and the Billing/Disputes office was unwilling to explain the charges or correct this poor customer service experience. For this reason, I will be unlikely to return to this organization if ever I have needs for an expensive procedure again. I saw Dr Le for the MVA then a month later came in to see Dr Yan about general health. He was referring me to a cardiologist when some one called to say my insurance isn't covered, I called back and left a message and no one ever called me back. NOW, I have to pay cash for that Dr visit, have waited months for a Cardiologist, and now told no referral. You and your organization have been very unhelpful, you all have incorrect information, cost me money out of pocket and in the end caused a long delay in getting treatment. I would never go here again. Waited 5 hours for a CT scan, and they told me I could see the results online in MyChart. When I got home the next day there were no results posted to MyChart. I spent 5 hours calling the next day but they would not tell me the results on the phone. I was crying I was so upset because the CT scan was to check for a brain aneurism. Finally, someone told me that if the result was serious they would have called me back. I never got the results of the CT scan in MyChart, but they did bill me for it. read more

A great hospital to be a patient at but buyer beware. Copays are much higher for imaging at a hospital versus a stand alone imaging center like TRA. CT scan copay was $150 because it was a Hospital bill even though it was performed at their outpatient imaging center versus $100 which is what it would have been billed at TRA. I an veteran who has never liked civilian Hospitals .I went in because I was having chest pain's and my whole left side was numb. The entire ER. department ( doctors and nurses and Radiology techs.) were outstanding. My problems all started when I was taken to the ward, I wanted to walk a little so I went just out side the door when heard a Nurse YELL from about 40 yards away " are you smoking ( I was not) and you can't be out here" no respect at all. A good Nurse would have walked over to me and asked me if i need any help and then told me can't be out here. I do like nurses and they have a hard job but can not put up with bad attitudes. In two days she never asked me if i needed anything or nothing. I am a pretty laid buck guy but will not put up with attitude. So then I wanted to walk around again knowing I need to walk a little so I did and once again I was told not to walk. so make a long story short when I was discharged walking out to the car with my wife and a different nurse my foot and leg went numb again with in 3 minutes. the nurse asked me if I wanted to be readmitted and said "no". So me and my wife walked to the ER. room to make a complaint ( about 100 yards away ) I could not even walk so I had to use a wheel chair. I did not want anything else to do with the nurse. Then I went back to the Navy hospital and told them how I was treated and now I'm worse. the lady said that is the only place I can go for the treatment I need. there is no way I was going to go back there. so I just went home. May be if the nurse would have just let me walk a little they would have realized some thing was wrong. once again everyone there was great but that nurse. And yes I still don't like civilians. They will require you to physically mail any dispute (because emailing would make too much sense and would be too convenient for everyone involved) after being on hold on the phone for 30mins to an hour before being able to speak to a human who belabors the hoops you have to jump thru to have them identify any mistakes they made in billing. This review pertains to Franciscan Hospice House. Our contact with them was in Tacoma, WA: It is sad and cruel when health care providers take advantage of the Medicare system by filing FRAUDulent claims. With continuing complaints that Social Security and Medicare are draining the system, provider FRAUD does not help matters. Only recently (12/2016) our family was advised about provider FRAUD by the Franciscan Hospice in Tacoma, Washington. They denied my Mother going into their hospice house in March 2016. After taking extensive financial information (that we found out was not required) on myself, my sister and my Mother, and having us sign hospice documents, the social worker/intake person denied service to my Mother (even with a doctor's authorization to place her) and without examination. The social worker and nurse (who said/did nothing) then immediately left my Mother's home. Within hours of their visit I called and cancelled the contract and requested our information be returned. Within 12 hours, the nurse present at the initial meeting, came to pick-up my letter of cancellation. She did not come in, but just took receipt of the cancellation documents. The discovery of the claims being filed (and paid by Medicare) was only recently discovered when my Mom did enter hospice (elsewhere) and the new provider paperwork process began. The new service provider found out about the claims filed by the Franciscan Hospice and paid by Medicare, and advised us. The new hospice provider was unaware that we were unaware about the claims filed previously...that were FRAUDulently filed. That FRAUD also caused an issue with the evaluation timeframe for my Mom. Yes, we are filing a dispute and pursuing the matter. Watch for FRAUD. Check EOB's (Explanation of Benefits) carefully. If you do not receive an EOB for a service, request one. If you give proprietary information to a provider and do not use that provider, make sure you get your information back and check that no claims were filed with Medicare. Side Note: Did you know that when hospice is called in and accepts a patient that a substantial amount of money is placed in "holding" for hospice claims...as in our Mom's example with the Franciscan Hospice, $27,000.00 was placed in hold for their use ... and our Mother was not even accepted for care!!!!!! Provider FRAUD and questionable Medicare practices are not a good combo...Be Watchful, Stop health care provider FRAUD! Watch out for providers like Franciscan Hospice House. read more

I was admitted for what was supposed to be a three day stay to have a procedure performed, prior to surgery. I ended up staying an extra day and two unnecessary nights because of what I was told was a "Miscommunication" (More like no communication). The doctor who was to perform the initial procedure never showed up, never even talked to me. Luckily, the surgeon was able to do both the procedure, and the surgery the next day, but that kept me under sedation longer than anticipated. In the end, I was billed for two nights and a full day for no reason, and with no food for almost 48 hours. I disputed it and their dispute resolution did an investigation. The full bill was resent to me, and I was told to take it up with my health insurance. I did, and they told me to take it up with the hospital. Never again CHI Fran. read more

For someone who's going here for years I've never been treated so poorly by a medical clinic. I went to Dr.Nhan about my depression multiple times to only get dismissed multiple times. It's like she couldn't wait to tell me NO I could feel her energy she didn't care that I was hurting or in pain. My last appointment with her was so horrific that I immediately called and changed doctors probably for the third time at this clinic and still zero luck doesn't seem like you get much help if you're a foreigner or if color I said what I said! Energy doesn't lie you know when someone cares and wants to help vs not. Dr. NHAN doesn't take pharmacy requests or calls from the pharmacy so getting a refill on my antidepressants have been sometimes near to impossible and I have gone into withdrawal's multiple times due to there negligence to refill my medication I've been taking for YEARS. If it wasn't for my sister in law a new doctor who's helped me get my prescription filled I literally would be so screwed.
