There seems to be no management oversight. My doctor unfortunately passed away, so I was referred to CHI to select a new primary. I did the appointment so as to get my prescriptions refilled. They then had me come back for blood tests, which they did. The new doctor quit. Need another, which I called in for. They can,t find the new doctors name, nor records of the blood work. . I called and got no help, so I now need to go look for another provider. Go elsewhere, your answer is not here. read more

I took my husband to the ER. I use a mobility scooter that requires some effort to unload. It was 50 degrees and drizzling. The ER would not let me in with him until he was in back being seen. Their only waiting area was "outside" for "visitors." (Nevernind I'm a surgeon who used to work there!). So I had to leave my electric scooter out hoping the rain didn't get heavy and try to stay warm running the engine in the car. NOT a good plan! Particularly now that CDC is no longer requiring masks and things are opening up, they need a better policy for those escorting people to visits, especially emergent ones! read more

I wish I could give them no stars. Awful experience trying to deal with them as they had billed our insurance incorrectly. They then re-billed but left the original bill open and proceeded to keep sending the same bill telling me I owed money even though insurance had already paid the bill in full. Franciscan was called by me 3 times to get the billing straight but we still got sent to collections. My family will not be using them for any medical reasons in the future. read more

People in pain, getting the run-around and sitting for HOURS waiting to get proper care. Not to mention the rude staffing and unprofessional environment. (I have perfect credit BTW.) 4. Now I am disputing the bill with, you guessed it, Central Finance Control, as of August 4rth. (They tell me it takes 90-days to review.) 5. Some things I mentioned in my dispute letter: a. The last bill I received from CHI on May 15, 2017 said; "If I did not pay within 30 days my account would be turned over to collection". The very next day, on May 16, I received the collection letter from Central Finance Control! b. CHI has created a classic Catch-22. The CHI Business Office [billing] tells me the only way to get the issue resolved is to speak to the provider, but the provider never returns phone calls. I have kept records of all the calls (dozens), including dates, contacts, duration, and notes. CHI employees would tell me they would call me back in 10 minutes and I would hear from them a week later. Others would "Promise" to call me back and I would never hear from them again. c. Opinion: I'm 99% convinced that CHI "corporate" told their Burien clinic staff to pad billings to pay for their new (May 24, 2016), $27 million facility, complete with indoor and outdoor fireplaces and high-tech design. Additionally I plan other actions including, but not limited to: 1. Filing a complaint with the Washington State Department of Health. 2. Filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. 3. Writing a letter to the editor of AARP. 4. Submitting a Yelp comment/rating. (Done!) I will never set foot in another CHI facility again, even though both of CHI's Burien facilities are within walking distance from my home. Best. read more

My surgeon's office and I each waited on hold for hours over the course of a week trying to get an operative report prior to another surgical procedure. No one responded to transmittals or answered the medical records line! This is so unprofessional it's dangerous. Go anywhere else. Zero stars. read more

The customer service needs work cause the front desk ladies don't seem to care. The OBGYN practice here is amazing! Roda, Lilly, Eva and Molly were amazing during my pregnancy and birthing experience. They listened, explained and educated me on all of my options during pregnancy. It was a partnership and the best birthing experience I've had. Overall I liked the staff and I liked the doctors. I didn't like their billing though. The general doctors visit cost around $400. I'm sorry but that seems abnormally high and their billing department was unwilling to change that. This would all be fine if I got blood work done etc, but this was just a normal doctors visit. This is a good facility with good doctors, but the rates seem much higher than any other place I've ever been to. Go there if you've met your deductible only haha, I'll personally be switching providers. read more

My insurance is a copay of 50 bucks for urgent care. These people bill it at a higher rate as if its a new office visit then charge 300 plus dollars. I dont know they are trying to scam...me, my insurance or both. Ive had multiple problems over the years with how they do not know how to bill or post payments to the appropriate account. I have been here twice. First time for a mammogram and I had a fine experience. Waited less then 10 mins and was put in 20 mins. Today was no exception. Maybe I'm having an awesome day but this was a nicest I've had at a doctor visit for once. First I like the modern look inside and outside. I didn't have to wait. The receptionist was pleasant and efficient. I didn't have to sign all kinds of paper, even though it was my first time seeing Dr. Park. Her nurse was funny and easygoing. Dr. Park was informative and sympathetic with my issues. I'm glad I decided to come here instead of waiting until April to see my doctor at Valley. Last minute decided to get my blood drawn for something I was suppose to do a month ago. The ladies there were friendly. I signed in waited a minute or two. Simply tried to call cavalon esthetics this morning to see if they had received the sun screen I had paid for last week; and was expecting to hear from them by now. First issue the number on receipt was no longer in service, so had to call Chi franciscan number. Turned out to be their scheduling line and was put on hold, with the reminder several times by them about how "important my call was to them"--really?! Was told I could leave a message or wait on hold. I stayed because they never seem to return their voice mail calls. After waiting for at least 15 minutes (seemed like an hour), recording came on saying I would need to leave a message. How about telling me that at the beginning. read more

I love my doctor but it has taken over 10 days to schedule an ultrasound. My doctor sent a referral to the Breast imaging center in Burien and I have been going through HELL trying to schedule with them. I was told the imaging center does not accept my insurance, so I had to call my doctor and asked her to send the referral to CHI's other imaging center in Federal Way because for some reason they accept my insurance. I was told someone would call me to schedule the appt. three days later I receive a call from my doctor's office informing me the Burien location does take my insurance and my doctors office has been going back and forth trying to get the Burien imaging center up to date on what insurance they accept. Today is officially the 10th day of me waiting to schedule my ultrasound. After numerous phone calls and worrying about my health for 10 days and still not being able to schedules damn appointment. Was referred to Dr. Duncan for a procedure. He was fine and the procedure itself went fine. But the process of getting my bills and going through insurance was miserable. I had to correct the office for spelling my name wrong at least three times, including once on the phone where I had to spell my name to the receptionist five times in a row because they kept repeating it back to me incorrectly. My name is spelled ever so slightly different than the "traditional" way, but I've still met plenty of people with my spelling in my life. It also, is not hard to just listen to a patient. It took months to get it all handled and billed to my insurance correctly because they couldn't slow down and listen. Then after I paid every bill that appeared in the my chart portal and in the mail I finally get a letter from a collections agency for a bill that I never saw or received. Considering all of this office's other screw ups I can't help but assume this was their mistake once again. read more

The worst exp ever.....I moved here hoping to find a good family practice...CHI Fransiscan Auburn..seemed to be what I was looking for...Boy was I wrong...First day in doctors and nurses were rude and not compassionate at all. They were disrespectful...they were also very judgmental. that was just the office staff..Once in to see the doctor...Bedside manor was non existent. The Russian nurse Maddie was a rude bitch...It was Friday PM. Oh dont be more than 5 min late..you will be resched and charged 50 bucks..The doctor..all buisiness...again no bedside manor...Look elsewhere for a family practice..with doctors who want to be doctors and not just coming to work a JOB..Get some new nurses..The attitude sucks the care and follow up sucks.. had to give a star..if I could not I would not..Worst doctors /practice ever read more

After two weeks of not being able to pick up my medicine due to a prior authorization slip I needed signed by my doctor so my insurance can cover a $1300 medication I have gotten quite the run around. Never get calls back, and after two weeks of being in pain and having a terrible flare up there is zero signs of any kind of care or concern for me and my well being. I've talked to my pharmacy and my insurance and both are very impressed with the lack of care as well. Wish I would have been informed of how crappy the customer service and practice is here. I hope this doesn't happen to anybody else it's one thing to be in pain all the time and constantly struggling , but most doctors and medicinal centers at least make an attempt to make it that less complicated and painless on there end. read more

This is what happens when you have a Monopoly. For past 3 years we have been dealing with a charge for a medical services never received. While the bill was in the middle of CHIs dispute process, they sent it to collections with no warning. After days on the phone with no explanation went ahead and just paid it to save our credit score. Last year, they pulled the exact same crap again with the exact same bill, so we paid it again. This year, yes you guessed it-same bill. Also we've complained for the past year we haven't seen any bills from them only to receive another collections notice for the bills we've been complaining about not receiving. We called and called-no answer. When answered they don't know anything. When requested to speak to a supervisor we're put on hold for infinity. I can't make this stuff up! These guys have a monopoly and need to be broken up as if you live in Kitsap County you only have them for your choice. Most F'ed up administrators I've ever dealt with. Don't have labs done at any of their Dr's offices or facilities. Go to a lab like Lab Corp and have them done there. My second visit to my new doctor and she wanted labs done. I was going to go to Lab-Corp and have them done there, but my doctor's office told me that is where they are sent for processing, so I let them do my blood draw. My insurance was billed for a hospital visit and what my insurance didn't cover, I had to pay for. I have had these same test done many times through Lab-Corp and my part to pay to Lab-Corp is 1/10 of what I had to pay to CHI Franciscan. I spoke to Aetna about it and what they told me is to always go to an outside lab, one that is not connected to a hospital, because hospitals can get away with this practice of billing out a hospital visit for a blood draw done at their Dr's offices. Btw, Lab-Corp picked up the blood draws and processed them. read more

Do not even consider CHI Franciscan if you are needing the birth control shot for any reason. Unlike every other clinic I've been to, they have less than a week to get in for your next injection, and if you miss that window by even a day, they will refuse to give you the shot, insisting you "see a provider." When I informed them I was well within the window as given by every other provider, up-to-date on all health exams, and would happily pee in a cup, they continued to insist I see a provider, but refused to give an explanation. I was denied health services, even though I made the appointment with them that morning. They then informed me I could drive quite a distance from there to get in to see a provider at another clinic. This would have wasted several hours and who knows how much money since they refused to tell me what this "provider" was supposed to do. Needless to say, I walked out of their office without making a provider appointment. read more

I really, really wish I'd looked around more before visiting this place. I went in for a routine mammogram because I recently turned 40 years old, only to find the clinic would later mis-code this routine procedure, ensuring my insurance wouldn't pay for it, and then refuse to correct their mistake. I've only received a wide variety of unsatisfactory responses on each of the many times I've tried to follow up with CHI Franciscan to relay this information. One person admitted that the doctor may have made a coding mistake, but it was impossible to correct it at this point. Another told me that people who have a family history of breast cancer are often charged for expensive diagnostic (v. preventative) procedures, which strikes me as odd/unethical considering that these are exactly the people who SHOULD be getting regular mammograms. This is especially frustrating to me because I don't actually have breast cancer -- I didn't walk into the clinic with breast cancer, or go because I thought that I had it. And even if I did, I was under the impression that doctors aren't allowed to discriminate based on pre-existing conditions?! Regardless, do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. read more

I tried CHI for a primary care doctor and after waiting a few weeks I got an appointment. I appreciated getting bloodwork done on site and the facility was nice but that's all the good I can say. This was my first experience with fat bias. I am sad to say the doctor ignored my concerns, repeated treatments I already did/had, and questioned my experiences - more focused on my 27 BMI. Whether systemic or this doctor's personal MO, it was flat-out fat bias and I'm only a size 12. Trying to follow up a third time seemed pointless when the doctor ignored my concerns the first two appointment. It was really disappointing and eye-opening how doctors can treat people they don't believe, or don't see as human. I will switch back to my old insurance and doctor next year to get better treatment. (And save money because this was a waste!) I would not recommend the fatphobic doctor I saw and would suggest CHI review the facts on BMI and fat bias in healthcare. read more

This is a review pertaining to their Insurance Follow Up Team in Tacoma. Their office was outsourced 1/1/15 & about 84 of us lost our jobs. They brought it back in house in Oct 2017 & I was so excited to go back. I had been there nearly 6 years prior doing the same job. I started 11/7/17, gave my 2 weeks 6/18/18 & was let go 6/26/18. The Leadership Team started letting people go left & right starting in December. We also had a few people quit too. It is micromanaged. There is favoritism, retaliation & discrimination. The interim supervisor we had lies to get people fired too. The last 8 people to get let go &/or quit were over age 47 & had over 20 years experience. DO NOT GO TO WORK THERE!! Even those that are still there, aren't happy. If I could give no stars, I would. Oh & patients are getting billed when they shouldn't. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEPT!!!! read more

Went to get blood work done and check for liver disease, or any other condition. They sent me to the ER cause I said my brain was being affected to having migraines, I was feeling terrible. At ER I was there for over 5-6 hours of waiting. The md assigned to me MD Hubbell as it says on my labs didn't even come back with my results, it was another doctor . And he told me all my labs came back normal and I was healthy. I couldn't believe it at all. He went over it with me very quickly saying all the results were normal, Come to find out when they posted the labs on their site weeks later, I had high creatine and was on stage 2 ckd! (I had to use google and do my research on all the tests taken) it. I'm disgusted with them not bringing that to my attention. I continued to not eat the proper diet for this condition and drank a few times thinking i was "healthy" within the month, and now I believe my condition is twice as bad. My life probably ruined and it could of been prevented if I was properly informed. Now I have a condition not curable and on top of that a crippling medical bill. Life destroyed by the people who seen me on that day August 21st. read more

I don't usually ever write reviews. But I went into the prompt care at CHI Franciscan here in Burien in quite some pain but not $2,000-of-emergency-room-worthy-pain. And I was not even 2 o'clock the doors were unlocked and people at the desk and said I wanted to be seen for my pain. The person at the desk said they were not seeing anymore patients. I asked why because I thought they were still open and they said they were closing early so that their providers could get home safe. Which is understandable. I give two star because I went in there politely, and was treated politely, and I left politely but I would've given one star if it weren't for the professionalism of the front desk people; because the prompt care clinic across the street is still open and will be till closing hours because it's a URGENT/PROMOT medical clinic. Why would you close a prompt or urgent care clinic? How about we just close the emergency room while we are at it. There are retail stores and small businesses near by that are still open. read more

I took my elderly mother to Chi Franciscan prompt care in burien wa. As we were waiting one of the front staff was walking around swearing. The doctor was awesome. After we were done I went to pay moms co pay. Sat there and was ignored by one of the staff that was looking at me. Finally one staff member said she would help me. I was waiting for a call for results. They called when I wasn't able to answer the phone. I called back and was told that they may or may not get back to me that day. They did not which was fine. I tried calling the next day and was waiting for someone to answer the phone for 45 minutes. No one ever did. Called this morning, told her what I needed. She proceeded to ask about a covid 19 test. I told her NO I just told you it is about the xray of her wrist and arm. Still waiting for a call back. My question is what has happened to customer service? They don't need to walk around swearing and need to LISTEN to the patients and be polite. Again the doctor we saw was awesome. The front counter staff was rude and horrible. read more

I went to pay bill over the phone, after being on hold for 20 minutes. The gentleman on the phone asked all my information, asks how I am paying and verifies all my information and then without saying anything clicks me on hold. I wait another 5 minutes and a new person get on the phone and starts repeating all the questions the first person asked. I am not sure why I would get a run around to pay my bill, are other people calling in to pay my bill? If they are please let them, I really dont mind. read more

Dishonest and likely illegal billing practices is what my partner and I took away from this place. We were happy to pay for his blood tests/general exams he needed because CHI is in-network, but when they billed him, they promptly sent it on to collections before the bill was even due! For reference - his bill said (in writing!) payment should be completed by September 7th, but they decided an appropriate measure would be to pass the debt on to a company called Central Financial Control, which has a history of harassing and "losing" documents, including the payment in question. As the daughter of a health care lawyer, I can attest that this is not a normal policy. I'd stay away, unless you'd like a possible hit on your credit score for planning to pay your bill a full week and a half before its due. read more

I went to the CHI Franciscan located on Canyon Road 2 different times in the month of November. They charged me a copay each time. My insurance sent me the EOB's for both visits showing my responsibility was $0. I called the billing department a few times and each time I was told something different regarding my refunds. I received a letter from CHI Franciscan stating that my card had been refunded and there was a check enclosed with the letter. I checked my bank account since refunds on a card are a lot quicker than a check sent in the mail. Nothing was reflected in my account and I even called the bank to make sure there was nothing maybe pending. I have now spoken to 4 different customer service people in the accounts payable department and a supervisor and I still don't have a refund on my card. The supervisor and 1 of the 3 representatives were super helpful and both stated they were not sure why my card hadn't been refunded yet. The supervisor said he'd ask the department that actually processes the refunds and would have someone get back to me with a status. Needless to say, I am still waiting for that call and my money. read more

My visit to the hospital was great. I felt I received good care. Visit was in 7/18. I started making payments in 8/18 and have faithfully made a payment every month yet they sent me to collections. Their reason? I didn't call to make payment arrangements. Seems to me sending them an auto payment every month is a payment arrangement. Due to their greed (yes they are supposed to be a Catholic institution) neither me nor my family will ever use their services again. I have never defaulted on any bill. When some are paid off I divert those funds to increase payments to others. The visit before to the same org was paid off more quickly simply because I had less bills at the time and I believe I paid it fully in a couple payments. This one would have been paid in full in approximately 6 to 10 payments. The fact that most people default on their medical bills makes me seethe. Why should I pay when others don't and why should I be harassed when I pay? read more

Been trying to sort out a 'missing payment' for months. I sent copies of all cleared checks (including the one they said they did not receive) and was told a supervisor would be in touch. Weeks later and nothing, so I call again. They tell me these things take time and to call back in 2 weeks if I have not heard anything (all the while assuring me my acct was on hold). 2 weeks later I call back and they tell me the same thing again. I have called about 5 or six times now hoping to get this sorted and no response. I just called again today and they told me it had been sent to collections! After calling and calling and being told to wait and that my account was on hold, they sent it to collections. I will never set foot in another CHI Franciscan establishment again. I would not recommend CHI Franciscan to anyone. I love my Doctor but the staff is rude and not at all helpful. It is a machine, name, social security number, have a seat and wait and don't ask questions. And you will wait, no matter what time your appointment was scheduled. Then you will wait two to three months for the bill with no explanation of what you had done (because by this time you've forgotten) so you have to call the Franciscan Billing Office who will tell you they can't help you because they have no information on what you had done, you would need to contact your insurance for that info. Then you contact your insurance and they tell you if Franciscan sent you the bill, they should be able to tell you what the bill is for shouldn't they? Makes sense to me so I call back Franciscan and say that and all of a sudden they can tell me what I saw the Doctor for and why I was billed what I was. Insane. People shouldn't have to go through all this just to figure out a bill. Nor should they have to wait months to be billed. After my husband's surgery we waited a year before being billed - ridiculous! Something needs to change in this company's systems to make it flow more efficiently and the staff needs to be trained in Customer Service. Rudeness and hostility are not acceptable. read more

I have been with CHI Franciscan forever and always they have had billing problems. But the worse was this year. I had surgery at St Anthony in Gig Harbor in February. The person at admittance asked me to pay my annual deductible of $2,000.00, I told her I had already paid some out of pocket so she asked for $1500.00. LATER that day, while I was in surgery, they called my husband to say we overpaid by 267.00 so we had a credit. According to my insurance company, they should not ask for my annual deductible, they should ask for the amount my insurance company would not pay for the surgery, the amount I was responsible for (1233.00). And they knew the amount. EIGHT months later I get refunded. After numerous phone calls and then finally getting very angry with them. And during this time they send me a bill for my co pay of $20.00 for a office visit in May. I refused to pay them until they refunded me what they owed me. Well they actually began the process to send it for collection! Boy, did that raise my blood pressure! They owe me 267 and I owe them 20! Unbelievable and so frustrating! I love my doctors for the most part, but not their messed up billing department! They should know what they are doing but evidently they do not. And good luck with trying to speak to a manager. They are never available and they do not call you back when you request a call back from a manager! I am now retired, myself being in customer service for 38 years, this is deplorable!! read more
