Well, I love the authenticity of this mom and pop place, and I really wanted to give another star. However, the mistreatment of chicken dishes was more than I could accept. I understand the need to cook the protein ahead when you are a one-cook show. However, chicken is especially unforgiving when merely boiled and left over. I see the problem with taking the time to velvet chicken in this instance, but you must be prepared for the patron who knows what's up. We tried Chiangmai Thai Kitchen tonight -- one of the few Asian restaurants in East Texas that actually serves legit, high-quality food. We started with egg drop soup and pork jerky, both solid. Then came the Pad Thai with beef and Garlic Fried Rice with beef -- absolutely delicious. Finished strong with sticky rice and cream for dessert, and wow... that part? Chef's kiss. Now, let's talk service. No "hello," no "how are you," just straight to: "Drinks? Appetizers?" Like... okay, hi to you too, I guess? When we finished eating, our waiter popped up with a quick, "You ready?" -- handed us the card machine, and that was it. No smile, no "thank you," no nothing. It was like dining in silent mode. There were only two tables occupied -- and I'm pretty sure the other one was the owner's family -- so it's not like they were busy. As we exited the door, another employee manage to eke out a "thank you for coming". So there is some hope! Would I go back? Yep. The food's too good not to. Plus the sticky rice would miss me. Ordered to-go, so not sure on how the service was if we had eaten in the restaurant. The online ordering was easy and the food was ready when we arrived on time. The place seems nice and clean. The food was pretty good, not the best I've had, but solid 4 stars for Thai in Longview, TX. Having been to Thailand and eaten Thai food all over the US, I would give this place a 2.5 or 3 stars compared to them. Worth a shot if you want to try Thai! read more

I was in in Longview for work this month, and I had the chance to try Chiangmai Thai Kitchen for the first time. After a long day at work, I wanted to grab some yummy takeout, and I found Chiangmai on Google and Yelp. I selected the shrimp rolls, which were incredible. Those were a 5/5, and I would order them again. The wonton soup was not very good. It had no flavor. The pad thai was good taste, but not very traditional. When I arrived, I saw their cute holiday decór on the glass, and the staff was very welcoming. I did not have to wait. The food was ready and hot. Next time I visit, I would get the shrimp rolls again and try some fried rice, as I saw someone eating it, and it looked great. The menu was huge, so there was a lot I would try next time. Overall, it is great for Longview to have this local spot and not just another chain of average American food, so for me, this is a 4/5 for Longview Thai food. read more

First time here. Waitstaff: Tiara. She was prompt & polite. She was also sociable which I appreciate. Appetizer: Fried Spring Rolls which were small. They came out cold, but Tiara was quick to get me a replacement order. I was disappointed that they were bland & didn't have much in them. They tasted like batter. I will not suggest those to anyone nor will I order them again. Main meal: Pineapple Curry with Chicken. It was delicious and was of a good portion size. I could taste the sweetness of the pineapple with a medium heat of the curry spice. I had the option to have extra spice added to it or on the side prior to the order being submitted. I tried it first and it was perfectly done. Rating was based on everything as a whole. Tiara was why I gave a 4 star instead of 3. The fried spring rolls were what hurt the overall rating. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for years and never had a bad experience... until today. A buddy and I went here to grab lunch and ordered fried rice and an order of egg rolls to split. Our egg rolls came out first and I noticed a baby cockroach crawling across them! We notified our waitress immediately who squashed the bug on the plate and took it away. Our rice came shortly after that and we were still kind of shaken up that we just stared at our plates in awe of what we had just witnessed. We picked through our rice and tried to tough it out thinking how many good meals we had eaten there. About two bites later we decided that this was a little past our edible threshold. We asked to speak to manager who came over and never once uttered the words "I'm sorry". I asked her how could this happen? And she replied in a quick, snarky tone, "the plates are on the bottom shelf so that's where it came from. It wasn't in the food." How is she to know? Why does that even matter? God knows what is crawling on their rice, vegetables, meat, spices, and whatever else they have back there. I will never come back here and will be telling this story to the customers I know that frequent this poorly managed establishment. Had an amazing lunch from here today. Very good Thai food found in East Texas. Family was happy and the belly's are full. Everything tasted fresh and was very flavorful the only downside was there was absolutely no spice. None of the dishes were spicy even though they were all ordered with medium spice and one was even ordered super spicy. I think there might be a shortage on Chili's here in East texas? I'm used to Thai food, grew up with it whether it was home cooked or at a restaurant and this is the first time there was absolutely no spicy to any of the food. I guess it must be an East Texas thing because they don't like spicy food out here. We also ordered two boba teas and I have to say that the coconut and boba drink that I had took me all the way back to my childhood!!!! The flavors were spot on and absolutely delicious!!!!! Haven't been here to eat but have ordered takeout. I had the lettuce wrap chicken and cucumbers salad. Loved the chicken, it was just missing some sort of sauce with heat to go with it. Didn't really care for the cucumber salad. It was a lot of bean sprouts and a few cucumbers. I have been to Chiangmai and have also had much better Thai---anywhere . This is getting pretty typical experience now for the average Asian strip mall restaurant: frozen and reheated food. Got it? Nothing cooked to order fresh.... so YUCK! The restaurant has muh standard Asian decor and somehow, does not look/feel clean. The only positive comment thing I can say is the food is served FAST. I ordered the shrimp dumplings steamed, they were obviously bargain basement frozen and served barely lukewarm my entrée was equally forgettable and unimpressive: one or two pieces of wilted Thai basil strewn across the top of lukewarm ground chicken. The bill however was not-- prices are high for medium portions and because of the location... I suppose? There has to be anything better Thai place than this fast food joint in Longview. read more

I have been to this place several times, but just now writing a review. When it comes to some quality Asian cooking, and you are in the mood for Thai, this place literally is a jewel in East Texas. I'm just thankful it's so close. Service is great, and this place chugged right along during Covid, so they are no stranger to challenges. Restaurant is clean, and waitstaff are amazing and attentive. Recommend the Krapaw Beef with medium spice. Even if you do not like spicy food, you will love this dish. Beef is so soft and juicy, and mixed in with the wonderful steamed rice they give you, it's delightful! Last time I had Thai this good was in the DFW area. I don't know why this place has so many stars I went in the other day it wasn't very good. There was also a huge cockroach climbing on the wall. Also our server over charged us and when I brought it to her attention she still didn't give us our proper change she actually gave us less. We were going to get charged 70 dollars for two entrees and two teas. The whole system of how you pay for your check is weird they charge you without letting you look at the receipt and then once you're charged then you get to see the receipt.
