Let me tell ya about Q.... Obviously 5 stars means a great experience. OG is pretty good for consistency, but today was noticeably better. The decor is classic OG. We got a table quickly. Food came out fast, especially for a Saturday lunch hour. The difference is in the service. Our server today was Q. I made a joke he knows everything but later realized he probably wasn't old enough to get the joke. He played along graciously. Q had everything so that the appetizers were about finished, then comes the entree, etc. There was no awkward wait or downtime. Q kept an eye on all his customers and did his job WELL! I understand people don't tip since servers are getting paid more these days but this is likely the best service I've had in that OG within the last decade. I tipped him a little extra. As we were leaving, he caught me and asked if I meant to tip him that much. I understand it was high even by older standards. Whether it was because I do look a bit older or simple honesty, it was honesty. This was the cherry on top. "Diligent worker taking care of customer service and looking out for his customers with excellent manners and skills" sounds like someone who should be promoted but I kinda hope not. Food was good, service absolutely could have been better, we got our salads then not 5 minutes later our meal arrived at the table. I usually like to finish my salad and relax prior to my main course being delivered. Ambiance was the pits, it was like eating in a stand up freezer, 30 minutes later, we are still frozen to the core. And another thing, I have a pet peeve about a server picking up dishes without asking. Yes we were done eating, but I needed my silverware to clean up my left overs. I would give this place zero stars if I could. My family (2 adults and 4 children) arrived at 3 p.m. in the afternoon--hardly a busy time. The parking lot wasn't even full. We waited 20-30 minutes and still never got seated. During that time, I saw multiple people (2-tops and 4-tops) being seated right away, while we were completely ignored. I even walked a lap around the building just to make sure I wasn't missing something and sure enough, I could clearly see several empty tables on both sides of the restaurant. There was absolutely no reason they couldn't seat us. All I wanted was to sit down and share a meal with my wife and kids at a place that tells you you're "considered family." Instead, we were ignored, made to wait, and watched as other people were taken ahead of us. It was embarrassing and frustrating to wait that long with children, only to be overlooked while plenty of space sat empty. If this is how they treat families, then don't waste your time or money--there are plenty of other restaurants that actually value their customers. read more

We love eating here. The lunch specials are awesome. The salad is delicious. Just like in most restaurants, you can occasionally get below average service, but we have been eating here for many years and the service is good 95% of the time. read more

Just left this location after enjoying a child free date night! We had Nikki L as our server and this lady was INCREDIBLE! She had the sweetest smile and when I was incredibly indecisive on my order she was so patient! (and even more patient with the ridiculous amount of cheese my husband likes)! When I was looking for a wine for my non wine drinking husband and I to share she recommended one that wasn't even on my radar and it was so good! I went to OG to order the soup and salad today for lunch. I simply find that even on the weekends, it is still the best deal you can get there, despite their many good offerings. I got the Pasta e Fagioli as my soup (though my usual soup of choice is the Chicken and Gnocchi). I also got the Bellini Peach Tea and one of the Alfredo Dipping Sauces for the breadsticks. (I do recommend getting a dipping sauce for the breadsticks, by the way. It elevates the breadsticks to a whole new level.) I did enjoy myself while being there. Food was good as usual. Our waiter was rarely around. We were told that they were baking fresh breadstucks when our salad was brought out. Did not get our breadsticks until half way through our meal. We had to ask for them. We were seated at a corner table in the back of the dining room near a cold window and a bright spotlight in my eyes. Had dinner last night with friends. I had not been here for a few years and this review will tell you why. The soup and salad along with the bread sticks are always a hit and tasty. However, the main courses are less than acceptable. The shrimp scampi had asparagus and red peppers in it. Never had shrimp scampi prepared that way plus it was pretty bland. Asparagus and red peppers don't belong in this dish. The shrimp carbonara was not very good and had no taste. It also had red peppers in. They must get a deal on red peppers. The service is what made the evening! Noah was our waiter. He was fun, attentive, knowledgeable and we couldn't have asked for better!! The restaurant needs some updating. I'm not a not a huge fan of chain restaurants, but since I am a visitor to Longview, Texas and my niece ask me to take her here. Anytime I'm able to spend time with family in any capacity is huge blessing. Upon entering the restaurant, our party of five was promptly greeted, and then seated. Our server was a young lady by the name of Amber. Amber was extremely pleasant, very attentive and very personable. My sister and I started off with glasses of their house wine, and believably I was very pleased with their house Chardonnay as was my sister with her glass of Merlot. Here's the break Down of my portion of dinner: $37.00 Spicy Calamari - Appetizer Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo - Main Entree Chicken and Gnoochi - Soup White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake - Dessert Everything was prepared perfectly, the Steak Gorgonzola was tender and extremely flavorful just the way I expected it to be. as for the selection of soup, I trusted the recommendation of our server Amber, and she did not disappoint! Over all we all enjoyed our dinner experience at The Olive Garden in Longview. Our party of five tab came to $127.88 with tax, and generous tip for our server simply because she deserved it. Went today my husband enjoyed his alfredo however I ordered the giant shells, waitress took my order left then came back 5 minutes later to say they were out and they didn't know. Then asked for some ranch for the salad they again informed me they were out of that as well.So then I ordered the chicken margarita with shrimp. It was tiny, looked like salad shrimp only about 8 of them, the chicken breast that was split to try to give the illusion of two was over cooked which gave the taste of char with a bland no lemon or garlic taste. The server that we had was good. His name was Ricky. He established great rapport with us and made sure that if he couldn't get to us at the time, that another person could. We had the lasagna fritta, chicken Alfredo, and chicken and shrimp carbonara. On a scale of 1-10, the chicken Alfredo, was a 6. The chicken was seasoned well. It looked a little dry. Usually, extra sauce is needed for that Pasta no matter which Olive Garden we go to. The frittas weren't as good as the other olive gardens but a little salt did the trick. The salad was great. And the bread sticks are always wonderful. I did not, however, like my carbonara. It was very bland, and salt did it no justice. Unlike the Alfredo, the carbonara was not dry. I ate one bite and didn't want anymore. The waiter spoke with the manager and they ended up taking it off the ticket. It was a $17 platter, and it didn't taste its worth. I didn't order anything else because at that point I was no longer hungry, and the carbonara was really the only thing I saw on the menu that I wanted to try. Come here occasionally, and usually always leave satisfied. The servers are on spot, and quick to refill your bread sticks/salad when empty. If you order unlimited soup they do a good job keeping a eye out on your next bowl, and get whatever you choose out quickly. The venue is also usually nice and clean albeit sometimes a bit to busy for some servers to juggle. Overall really like this place. Price wise more things cost more than what I feel comfortable paying for in terms of what you get, but its still a nice resturaunt to relax at for a outing. read more
