The main part as to why they don't get 5 stars is because they do not answer the phone. You can call and call but they refer you to a voicemail even if you select that your animal is currently in their care or has recently been there for service. It's very inconvenient to not be able to contact them, and in my opinion unsafe if my animal were to be in their care at the time. I went up to the clinic without an appointment and let them know the issue, and they fixed it right away. I waited no more like 5-10 minutes for my kitty to be brought to the back to have her incision stapled, with new medication, a cone, and instructions to bring her back in the following week with no ifs ands or buts. I was appreciative that they fixed the problem so seemlessly, but wish I could've had the comfort of knowing before I got there that it wouldn't have been a problem! All in all I've brought every single one of my pets here for a neuter/spay and will continue doing so

I wrote to Paula, the founder, the only email address I had, long story short, rude, rude, rude the second time I've had contact with her always rude! I adopted a beagle, who was a "beauty" pageant girl, who lived in a cage her whole life. She got to come out when she was "preforming". I've had her 4 years now, and, she's just beginning to know love and trust! So, I know I know how to adopt a baby, and my baby would also help. But, I guess they don't care about people who donate, and walk the walk

Great lakes pigeon rescue does nothing but go above and beyond for their animals. Everything negative "Maxine" said in their review is a blatant flat out lie. Myself, and others I know personally have had only positive things to say about receiving birds from GLPR and GLPR does their utmost to meet the needs of their birds and their prospective adopters.

they take in way more birds than they should. they lack the actual space for the amount(OVER 600…read moreBIRDS IN A STORAGE UNIT) of pigeons they have right now. the majority of the birds reside in non predator proof pens purchased from Amazon. the reason they should be predato proofed is because the amount of wasted feed and grain will attract rats(likely already has) and hi high would be able to chew through the flimsy wire and harm the birds who aren't allowed to perch 4 feet off the filthy floors. several female pigeons forced to lay eggs without nests which is extremely stressful as these are not chickens. pigeons require a semi private nesting space in order to not perpetually keep laying. the food and water containers are open air cat litter boxes which get easily contaminated with feces and require cleaning and refilling more often than standard pigeon/poultry feeders and waterers. The rescue often will put "undesirable" birds that aren't as human social in these pens to LIVE in. Sometimes these birds may not be adopted for months and will be forced to live in these crowded dirty pens longterm. Do Better Great Lakes!!

I already felt some type of way sending money before seeing the dogs in person anyways and that's what prompted my search. She seemed (who knows if it's actually a she) super legit through our correspondence in email I'm like "ok , this is happening " but then she mentions she is in Chicago and I'm like huh .. anyway it's funny they've been using the exact same pictures for over a year now and they don't even change the names . I feel bad for the individuals that lost their money to the people . It's really sickening ! I hope others come to yelp first or even do a quick search on google before sending any money. Especially through western union . A scammers dream! Below is a snippet of our email convo. From the looks of it , it's very similar to what another person on here said .

I was fortunate that it did not get that far. First email starts out legit, friendly and asking all the right questions, but as correspondence continues, emails are VERY suspect -- saying they'll call at a specific time, then they don't. The grammar in their email is very off. The phone number they provide goes to a machine saying it's "Cathy" with a British woman's voice and then cuts you off after 15 seconds while attempting to leave a message. Tried texting, and then got woken up at 2:30am saying "Hello cab call you now. Sorry it's been a very busy day". That's when I knew! DON'T do business with this company!!!

You can tell they truly love and prioritize their puppies. My puppy came healthy, well-socialized, and already off to a great start with basic training. They provided all the necessary paperwork, including vaccination records, which gave me so much peace of mind. They were also super responsive, answered all my questions, and even offered FaceTime calls before pickup, which made me feel comfortable and confident in my decision. You can really tell Timberland Pups goes above and beyond to make sure their puppies go to loving homes. I couldn't be happier with my new fur baby and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality, well-cared-for puppy!
