This is the best deal in town for the Italian beef and by far the most legit. I ordered a half dip with dip on the side and the bread held the whole time. The hot peppers are actually hot. The beef was melting in your mouth, tender and you just got a ton of fries with your order my order I easily could've fed two people. We wanted to try something new and this hole in the wall had great reviews. Parking was a little scarce since it was in a small shopping center and some businesses had reserved parking so be weary. Once we arrived it had a cute Chicago atmosphere and the menu was easy to read and the employees were very helpful with the menu. Whenever we are in San Antonio, my husband and I make it a point to have lunch at this great little family-owned and operated restaurant. Our relationship with the lovely family that owns and operates it started approximately three years ago when my husband needed to be at the medical center for treatment. Our route from New Braunfels on Wurzbach Parkway took us right past Jones Maltsberger Road, and one day we decided to try it. We have been customers ever since. I haven't been home in a while and my buddy who came up to visit is also a fan of Chicago food. I suggested one of our meals be Chicago based and when Yelp showed a place literally named 'Chicago Hot Dogs' it's kismet. She asked if I wanted those cut in half too. Yes, thanks so much! The Polish was the tastiest but the hot dog was pretty good too-I could have used more celery salt on it, but that's a fine line. Scrolling through Yelp I discovered a new place, just a sticks throw from Hops & Hounds on Jones Maltsberger called Chicago Hot Dogs. Several of the Yelp reviews raved about their SA Dog which is zesty sweet and savory. Be prepared it's a bit of a mess to eat but, if you have plenty of napkins and a fork you will absolutely love it. Chicago Hot Dogs is open at Noon on Saturday and Sunday and at 11:00am during the week. The restaurant is clean, the staff are very friendly making this stop well worth it.
