Temporary location on Peacock Alley

In SA for a conference and fell asleep early due to jet lag. Looking for a non-chain place serving food after 2 AM and this popped up. Super dope, urban street food set up. Don't let the words "hot dog stand" fool you - these guys take their food seriously. Rolled up right before 3 AM and was greeted with excellent friendly service. Ordered the Wembynaso Jr (bacon wrapped hotdog in a French baguette with sautéed onions, crispy fried onions, and Gruyère cheese sauce) which was made fresh to order. To those complaining about prices - not sure where you're from, but typical late night street dogs in major cities are $10 now and that's for bottom of the barrel prepackaged ingredients sitting on a metal cooking sheet. This is night and day in terms of quality. Really cool ambiance, currently in an alley behind Houston. Plenty of benches and stools to wait and eat at. Loved the ice cold topo chico and coca mexicana. Bonus points for a delicious arroz con leche. Chatted with the owner Rob for a bit on my way out. Super cool guy. Excited for what the future has in store for this place. I'll definitely be back. Support local y'all!

The FOOD! So good!!! Came for late night eats & snacks! Me and the hubby got hotdogs that were delicious!! Our kids ate elote and they really liked it. I ordered el Perro con Elote, it was so big! I needed a Spoon to eat the elite that fell on my plate! I think they use beef sausage wrapped in bacon not sure but it's soooo good! My husband ordered el Pedro Caliente and he says it was spicy but very good! They're very nice there and helpful. Service was great! Ambiance is very chill. They have a few tables to stand by if you want to eat there or feel free to order to-go. They have bottle drinks as well. They accept cash app, card and cash and I believe Venmo(don't quote me on Venmo). I love that they are open till 3 am! Perfect for when the bars/clubs close go get a very tasty delicious! Oh and it's family friendly! Definitely recommend everyone should come here and have your not so typical hotdog. You wind regret it!!

Hot dogs are huge and delicious! Will be coming back

Love that this spot was open late. Perfect for late night munchies. I got the elote dog, and my bf got the pico de gallo dog. Both were amazing!

Best hot dogs in San Antonio. They moved to peacock alley just a block away and thank god I found them. I had the chili dog which was really good. But to me the star of the show was the street dog. Make sure you have a cold drinks because the peppers on it were smoking hot. It burned but in a good way. I think that hot dog may be my go to dog anytime I am in San Antonio. Go check them out!

Apparently El Weinecero is the spot to be late night in SA! Friendly staff and tasty dogs. Give it a try :)

This hot dog stand provided us the perfect meal after a night of partying and drinking not to mention a friendly staff! Their hot dogs are a pretty good size with delicious topping options.

A very good hot dog, fast service and great late night snack after being out downtown. If you like spicy; they have additional hot sauce they can add as well.

While you wait for your Ghost Tour, grab a delicious hotdog.

I wish I would have taken a picture of the hotdogs we got. Very good, juicy, made to order and hot off the grille. Very friendly, professional and clean. Highly recommend. One of the best hotdogs I've had.

I've been all around the US, and I love hot dogs. This is easily the best hot dog I've ever eaten and it's not even close.

It's been a few years since I've been by; so, I was truly looking forward to getting something. I chose The Brat & tots (plain). I was very happy with my choice. The gentleman greeted me immediately. I thought it would take me a minute, but, as I stated, I chose The Brat immediately. I'm a little high strung from my age, so people kinda chuckle. It's cute. I make me smile. They put the perfect amount of mustard on it too! See the photos, but it comes covered with cabbage & crispy fried onions. It is amazing. I was able to get a whole 1/3 of it eaten before my body shut down. Tot wise, they were hot & perfectly fried! I like to dip mine in ketchup, but they offer you various other dips as well. So, I got ranch cuz, um, of course. Also, I really like their soda brand. I can't remember it, but it's a dia de los muertos skull for the logo, but I love their roots beer, which was my beverage of choice today. It's really a nice little place to just come in & sit & enjoy a yummy hotdog alone, or with family/friends.

My partner and I went on a Sunday morning just after 11am and there were already people coming in to eat. It's popular for a reason! I've eaten here a few times and had a very consistently good time, but this review will be about my most recent visit. We visited on a rainy day, but luckily we were able to snag one of the inside tables, we ordered at the counter and our orders arrived very quickly. I got the Ratchet dog which is a beef dog with queso, hot Cheetos and fried jalapeños. Dogfather uses quality dogs and buns for all of their gourmet dogs. I found the Ratchet to be meaty, salty with just right amount of spice from the jalapeños. My partner got the Pop it like it's hot, but removed the jalapeños. This was good but lacking a bit of flavor, however she and I both agreed that was on her for taking the jalapeños off the dog. Both dogs were extremely tasty, and we devoured both. I also got an order of curly fries loaded with their chili and cheese. For me, these did not have to go as HARD as they did. The chili they are using at Dogfather is seriously good, with a slight tang and a good amount of spice. It thrills but does not take away from your meal with too much heat. Very tasty. My only feedback is that Dogfather needs a larger space! There's a good size outside seating area, but for times like today when it's raining people need some coverage. They're doing it right and the crowds want to come! As I have stated this is a local favorite. If you live nearby, make it a regular spot. If you live in San Antonio, do yourself a favor and make a trip over at least sometimes. If you like hot dogs you won't go wrong.

As soon as the tour was over we walked back to the corner of W. Crockett and N. Presa to give them a try. Our tour guide was right, these are the best hotdogs in San Antonio. Bacon wrapped with a multitude of options for toppings, paired with a toasted bun, we literally sacrificed our keto diet on these. 100% recommend. We had two of the bacon wrapped with ketchup and mustard, and shared an everything (ketchup, mustard, mayo, and jalapeños). I can't decide which is better so you will need to give them both a try as well. Great location. Nice easy walk from the Alamo, and they are open late to give you the snack you need while doing a historic tour or of the city or spending a night out on the Riverwalk. I also have to give the guys working the stand a compliment, they were fast regardless of the line, and happy to be giving the customers a great experience. Bottom line, this hotdog stand is unlike any other I've been to (and I'm from the New York area - hot dog stand capital of the world). Go give them a try!

FIRST TIME VISIT!…read more Woohoo! Been looking for chili cheese fries and happened upon a review for this place boasting fries with a homemade chili so we HAD TO stop in tonight. THE LOCATION: on the very end of a string of businesses in a strip mall that I've never been in before, so that was cool. Lots of parking, that'll never be an issue. And right off the 410. THE MENU: Burgers, dogs, Mexi-style munchies and a variety of frozen dessert-type items like shakes, frozen fruit concoctions and Italian ice. THE STAFF: I wasn't overwhelmed with a warm welcome and smiles, at least from the guys. Lol! They should really work on that. There was a sweet gal who ran out our food orders and she was great. THE FOOD: I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich deluxe with tots and a sweet tea. The grilled chicken was juicy and cooked well and the bun was lovely, slightly sweet and toasted. Overall, the sandwich could've used more flavor, like a creamy bbq spread and cheddar instead of the "Swiss" cheese that tasted more like American cheese. But overall, 7/10. The tots were extra crispy and the guy who took my order didn't take heed to my request for ranch. I was too lazy to get up again so I settled for ketchup. The sweet tea was nicely sweet and fresh, I'll be sipping this in my dreams. The hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and an Oreo cookie shake. The burger looked good and he ate it quick, so there's that. This guy can EAT so it surprised us both when he slowed down fast after eating that burger. Lol! He kept saying how filling it was, but then he also killed a large shake before the food arrived, so there's that. He ate most of his chili cheese fries, leaving me a few bites to sample. Not bad. I order a Coco Haven frozen dessert to go and omg is this thing delightful! Vanilla ice cream and coconut Italian ice (?) with a blue snow cone-like syrup drizzled throughout. I loved the texture of what I believed to be Italian ice. Smooth and flaky, a perfect icy dessert. OVERALL: decent eatery, the hubby said we can go back (LOL!) Shockerrrrr! But I recommend the staff tries harder to make customers feel welcomed and comfortable. The next visit will be telling.
