I can't say enough good things about ChicagoiRepair. My daughter's Iphone 5c screen cracked last week, and an emergency appointment on Friday (2/27) made 24hrs in advance to a repair shop in Hyde Park was canceled 3 hours before the appointed time. A follow-up appointment for the same Hyde Park business for today (3/2) was canceled 3.5hrs before the stated time b/c "we ran out of Iphone 5c screens". On 3/1 the Iphone was so damaged it would no longer power on. I was told I could have an appointment for next week when their shipment of screens came in. Mind you, its Monday. I found ChicagoiRepair on yelp at 2:15pm on 3/2, called to confirm they performed repairs, walked into their business at 3:50pm and in less than an hour, the very damaged Iphone had a beautiful new screen, turned on easily, and all buttons & programs worked. The price was fantastic and there's an extended warranty (120 days, better than some other places). Also, the manager was so kind and accommodating. Normally I don't write reviews but would like to share my story here. I sent my laptop to this store and waited for 3 days plus a weekend for a simple diagnosis and price estimation. They charge $175 for charge port replacement. Then I brought my computer to another store. It took them 5 minutes for diagnosis and three days to repair. They charged me $90 for it! I simply could not be happier ... let me tell you my success story. Last week I went into Chicago iRepair and was greeted very nicely by the gentleman doing the repairs. In my rush that Monday, I must have misread the pricing that was quoted to me on the website and miscommunicated the style phone I had, therefore altering the price to cheaper. When I explained this to the gentleman repairing my phone, he told me "no worries" and honored the lower price anyway! He also wisely offered me an upgrade to tempered glass for better protection for my phone for only a small added fee. Sadly, I did not take advantage of this because I thought "nah I got this". Within the next 7 days, I bumped my phone against a heavy door and there was another small crack on my brand new screen - DOH! I definitely should have taken his offer for the tempered glass originally as this would have prevented my issue. However, when I returned to the store (with my metaphoric tail between my legs) and told the gentleman of my issue and some lighting concerns I had with the new screen, I was once again told "no worries" and that they would take a look and fix any functionality issues for me AND take care of it same day! Now if that wasn't enough... I shyly asked about the small upgraded tempered glass fee and requested that, since I was there only a week ago with a full screen repair, if they would still honor the small fee addition and replace my screen with tempered glass. AND THEY DID! Didn't even second guess me at all. They kindly offered me the tempered glass for only $15 extra - what a win!! I cracked my iphone screen, and thought I could live with it like that....I couldn't. So I sucked it up and looked for a place to get it repaired that wasn't extremely expensive. I have no idea what kind of screen this place uses but I had to check up on my phone 3 times and I still did not receive the quality and service I had hoped for. The screen on my phone is fixed but the color quality on my iphone is nowhere like how I had it even with a cracked screen!!! My screen color is faded and dull, I cant even take a proper picture!!! Great company! I found the price was fair (especially with $10 off Yelp deal). I'm embarrassed to say I had to go their TWICE in ONE month to get screends replaced on my iPhone 5C and iPhone 5s (after getting my 5C fixed I dropped it in the ocean, then got a 5S and dropped it- oih). Went here just because it was one of the cheaper iPhone repair places close to my work, was pleasantly surprised at the fast, high-quality repair and excellent customer service! Was in and out in less than a half hour, and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. When all was said and done, it ended up costing me less than half of what I would have paid through my Sprint insurance plan to fix my cracked 5s screen/LCD and it looks/works like new. I have had a horrible time trying to get my phone fixed here. I was quoted $99 and 1 hour for service, but after paying them (in advance before checking my phone properly) I spent 2 whole days and a lot of money on cabs to and fro and all I got was a lot of excuses, a phone with a lot of problems, and no money back "because it can still make calls" - so what if there is a big blob in the middle due to a bad installation and the screen freezes every 20 mins or so. Tapped my iPhone 4s screen to turn on after an overnight charge and...nothing. Dead as a door nail. I was forced to buy a new iPhone since it's my only means of communication. Started looking for some way to get 4s fixed since I have hundreds of pictures on it, audio files and notes that I absolutely needed. Found them and decided to bring the phone in. The guy in the back was able to look at it right away, and I was told it would be a 20 minute wait so I took a walk. When I went back I was told that it appeared to be charging but they didn't want to give me back the phone until the battery popped on. It took a while for that to happen, but it did and I've got all my pictures and everything else transferred to my new iPhone. Was well worth the $49 and some change that they charged me. This place is phenomenal! If you've got a problem with and iPhone, bring it to them and they should be able to fix it. read more
