I've been going to chicago lashes for a while and consider myself a regular. My eye lash tech Jobelle is fabulous however the person who answered the phones today, should not be the face for the company. She black listed me from coming to the salon and cancelled all my future appointments. A terrible business move as I never complain always pay in full and sometimes support the store and buy extra items. I had scheduled an appointment for today but I was told I didn't. When I tried to explain how I had scheduled the appointment she continued to tell me I couldn't have. She wouldn't listen and instead of understanding the issue and working toward a solution, I was told I was wrong and not welcome to come back. I don't quite understand how someone can make that decision who isn't an owner and doesn't do my lashes. Chicago Lashes is by far the BEST lash salon I've ever been to in my life. I've been wearing false lashes for over 10 years now, so you could say I'm a "seasoned" lash critic. I was excited to try lashes as I had never had them on before. The salon was nice and the check in process was easy. The woman who did them was super friendly and told me that she knew what she was doing. I picked out the type of lashes that I wanted and she got to work. The process itself was not bad, I just fell asleep! When she was done and I looked in the mirror, the lashes were not the ones that I selected and not even close. They were way too long and way too curly. However, I thought that I would work with it. I got the instructions and off I went. I was super careful with them for the first 10 days - didn't get them wet, used oil free make up remover, brushed them a few times a day, etc ... On day 11 when I decided to get my face wet in the shower, I noticed the lashes were circling the drain! Not just one or two but many! When I got out of the shower, and to my horror, most of the fake lashes were gone as were my real ones! Just a few sprigs remained. These fake lashes took my real eyelashes with them and even to this day, two months later, I still have a bald spot gap in the middle of my right upper lash. Never, ever again! read more

The salon is poorly managed and the policies are deceiving- I am reporting them to the better business bureau. It's not just the terrible service response to a poorly applied lash service that needed a repair. For $150 a session, go somewhere else. The person that schedules appointments and answers the phone and texts is both unprofessional and under qualified for the job. They offer packages for refills and the thing I love the best is every sixth refill is free! But if you know you'll continue coming here for refills, definitely get the packages. You save more. I told her I was a little intimidated by the extensions. I was just so nervous and didn't want anything intense. I wanted something SUPER NATURAL and that's what she delivered. I loved them so much! When my friends and family saw me with the extensions, they knew something was different about me but couldn't really pin point it! Which to me is great! Every now and then I play with different styles that compliments my eye shape. Moon (as well as Jocelyn and Giselle who have my done my eyelashes a couple times before) really talk you through the style and explain why certain lengths/sizes will or will not work. I have to juggle my time and every time I call, I ask to speak with Shirley, since she is the one who has helped since the beginning. She is VERY accommodating and friendly as well. I came earlier today (2.17.17) to get a full set of lashes, this time I went with a more natural look. First time I get natural and I have to say that they look soooo natural. I am so please with all the technicians (I think all of the girls have put lashes on me already), they are both professionals and very friendly. Terrible customer service. The individual who manages the phone should be either trained to treat customer with professionalism or be shown the door. My wife had to cancel an appointment and the response from this individual was condescending. This was was not my wife's first appointment as she previously used this place. We tried to reschedule the appointment and were essentially not allowed to do without paying a canceling fee. Who do these clowns think they are ? A doctors office? Ridiculous! Instead of long term thinking and retaining a customer person the other end of the phone refused to stand down and provide good customer service and now has permanently lost a customer. Her response was "Oh we have people lined up waiting to get in". Yeah ok sweetie pie. Then why the demand to pay for a canceled appointment? Horrible attitude. And good luck charging our credit card without authorization to do so. UPDATE: Well looks like the Jenny is "Johnny on spot" in trying to manage bad reviews; too bad she isn't this punctual with managing customer service. Instead of accepting a cancelation (which shouldn't be a problem since "people are lined up waiting to get in" according to the person who answers your phone) and booking many future appointments you now have the gift of trying managing this one star review which should be a zero and you only got a one because that was the lowest we could give you. Jenny called my wife minutes after we left this yelp review and made it clear that my wife can can no longer make appointments. How did that feel? How does it feel to lose a customer over such a silly incident. I am a business owner too and if I got a bad review online I'd make sure I put my best foot forward and make the customer happy so I could ask in good faith for the review to be removed or better yet update to 5 stars. It occurred this morning. Again, you would have had future opportunities for revenue and now you basically let your ego get in the way of making a business decision. "same day cancellations incur a full service charge" Yeah honey, good luck trying to make that work against people who are fully aware of the law specifically the Uniformed Commercial Code Act of 1984 and enacted in all 50 US states. You have no contract in place with us so we will be monitoring our card. In any event we have it in writing that you will not charge our card. UPDATE: Regarding Waiting lists. That term was thrown out to us in a flippant tone. The point being your staff showed complete disregard of losing a customer by effectively stating "we have people lined up waiting to get in" and at the some time implying "we are so good we don't care if we lose a customer". About a week ago I posted a negative review about this salon. I was very unhappy after my first visit left my lashes with big amounts of glue to the point I had to have everything removed. This situation was confusing to me, since the reason why I attended this salon was based on the big amount of positive customer reviews. Anyways, a few minutes after I posted my bad experience on yelp, I received a call from Rosie. Rosie was beyond apologetic, kind and understanding. She was extremely sure my bad experience was a simple mistake and insisted I would head back to their salon for a free full set of volume lashes. I really appreciated the fact Rosie wanted to rectify the situation so I decided to give Chicago lashes another try. Rosie set me up with an stylist named Yosi. Yosi made sure to understand the look I wanted and she took her time working on my lashes. The result was a fabulous look! This is solely a review of the training aspect of Chicago Lashes as I modeled for one of their students. This location is inside of a very outdated office building but inside you find a moderately sized salon with a hair area where hair extensions are done and then a much larger room with 4 or 5 beds for lash extensions. Everything was tidy and there was radio music I believe, playing in the background. I would recommend for them to play spa music or such for those trying to get in some Z's, it would make the ambience certainly more relaxing. I arrived and was asked to fill out consent paperwork and a bit of a focused history. Shortly thereafter, the student came and asked me to follow her to the back and get comfortable on the bed. I don't believe she introduced herself. I followed her request as she began to clean my eye area followed by taping down my bottom lashes. Let's stop there - couple issues I had right off the bat: being a healthcare provider I have a serious concern that she didn't verify for allergies, eye history or relevant medical history to rule me in/out of extensions. Luckily I'm healthy and have no allergies but if the tables were turned that's a huge error on her part. That being said, she completely skipped a consultation of any sort. Obviously this would have included the above but also a general sense of what I am looking for. To continue - she tapes everything else down as though she is ready to go and that's when I break my silence and ask if I'm going to get to choose what I want and get an understanding of what to expect. She giggles a bit and tells me she's already taped me... that's when her neighboring lash tech (an actual employee I suppose) asks me several questions about my current lash routine and the look I'm going for (with my eyes closed) she makes the determination for the student and thereafter the student gets started. The process was mundane as expected and I fell asleep several times during it. An employee would come check on her once in a while and answer an questions she had. If took her 3 hours to complete a natural look which I expected going in. Towards the end I felt burning in my left eye which I stated and she brushed it off instead of calling her mentor over. Later when all was said and done and her mentor noticed my tearing left eye, she immediately grabbed a fan and worked to dry it up as it affects the adhesive. My eye was tearing for probably an hour until this was addressed which I found to be problematic as needing to trouble shoot is necessary in such a profession. When I was done, I had to ask about after care and really she didn't have much at all to offer me other than a post card they give to their clients with instructions. Her mentor explained what I needed to do instead. I found myself desperately searching for detail on how to best care for my lashes and realized how much wasn't covered during my visit in fact most of it. I wasn't offered any products on my way out either which is nice because that can be awkward BUT, I had I known at that time time there are such products, I may have considered buying them. I'm so fearful about washing my lashes correctly, if the eyeliner I'm wanting to use is OK and what to do to expand the lash life which a serum would have helped with. Overall I like my lashes and I think she did well for starting out. I have no pain or discomfort, more than normal fall out or major clumps one week out. My inner corner lashes however are too long and sometimes irritate my lower lash line. My right eye now has lashes appearing as though they are clumping towards the inner corner. They aren't because I can brush them out but it has to be due to placement. I called Chicago Lashes today explaining how they look and how I am leaving the country for 3 weeks and would like them to look good for that and concerned because I am only a week in an James was kind enough to get me in for a half fill before I go to fix the problem so A+ to their client satisfaction efforts. Back to the student - through our small talk I found out she's an RN which is a bit concerning as she missed what I believe to be the most vital parts of the process - the consultation and 'discharge.' Anyone can physically apply extensions with some training but the real skill is determining the right candidate, the right styles and judgement on what she as a provider feels looks best based on the health of my lashes and teaching me how to care for her meticulous work. I'm not sure what feedback she received after we were done, if any (because she was right out the door behind me) but its critical they discuss her gaps which in my opinion are huge. Bigger than her lash job alone. I hope this isn't a reflection of the training they provide and solely her mistakes but it would make me question the integrity of their training program. Will update my review post half fill and how they hold up in 3 weeks. read more

Ashley is a goddess. This salon is literally the only salon near Chicago that does micro-bead on weft extensions, so alas, it is where I ended up driving to. That being said, I've come to this salon (and Ashley) for almost a year now, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. The trip to Skokie is totally worth it. Extensions are done/adjusted by the hour, so it actually ends up being a very reasonable deal for hair extension work. The atmosphere is clean, comfortable, designed well--once you make it to the little studio in the large industrial (to be honest, slightly dated) building. I saw Moon for lash extensions and she did a fabulous first set for me. She took her time (I was there for almost 2 hours) so def not rushed and she explained everything to me, helped me choose a look I wanted. I have waited almost 2 weeks to write this review because I wanted to see how they hold up and how fast they fall out. I have still about 50% of my lashes at 2 weeks out. No flipping or curling down, either. That is fabulous! I highly recommend this lash spot and Moon. She was a pleasure. This was my first time getting eyelash extensions and I really do like them. I got them done on 4/17 right before my wedding and they honestly still look really good (today 5/9) and I'm a perfectionist. I had a horrible reaction to the pads that hold your lower lashes down. My wedding was 3 days away and I had blood shot eyes literally halfway down the center from my pupil. I looked STONED for 2 days. I read that the way the pad sits on your eye it can make it so you can't close your eyes all the way. Or they got irritated from the edge of the pad or glue? . It hurt SO BAD. It hurt to touch it but my lashes were still in place. Absolutely nothing wrong with the lashes, they didn't hurt or weren't bothering me. I went home and got visine and it burned like hell but i just kept doing it and it slowly went down within 2 days. I've been sleeping with a travel pillow because I sleep like crazy and all of my lashes wouldn't have stayed for 3 weeks if I hadn't slept that way. When the lashes do come out, they fall off naturally. Meaning they shed just the thicker areas leaving you with a natural feathery look. I got the volume set and was booked with Giselle. I gave this place a 4 star because the shitty receptionist there. She's terrible at her job. You'll be standing there waiting to pay and she'll be twiddling her thumbs and give you attitude. Decided to give this place a try and happened to be the biggest regret of my life. This place sent me to the emergency room!! First, the process took almost 3 hours for a classic set leaving me laying there uncomfortable. Second, when she told me to finally open my eyes, the eyelashes were stuck onto my face making it impossible to open so she had to ask a coworker to help get it off my face. I went there having high hopes and left extremely upset. My eyes were blood shot red and burned for days!! I called to see why this happened and let's just say they did not care and told me to see a doctor if it get worse lmao??? Side note: I was going on vacation later that week. Not only did I have to leave work early to go to the emergency room but miss 3 days of work and had to schedule several doctor appointments. On top of that I had to pay everything out of pocket!!! I am a first time client, and my experience at the Skokie location was completely amazing! Despite the huge snow storm that hit Chicago (forcing school closings), the staff made it in to make sure that their clients were still taken care of. Emel was very knowledgeable and engaging, and I had a great conversation with her while she did my lashes. Time seemed to fly by! The first time I went here back in March, my lash tech gave me beautiful set of lashes, it looked extremely natural yet full and elegant. I was very happy with it and I asked her what kind of lashes she put on me so I can remember it for the next time. She however assured me that it was going to be saved under my profile so I don't have to write it down. Couple months later for my birthday I returned wanting a full set to the same lash technician as the first time and she asked what style I wanted in which I told her that it should have been saved. To my extreme disappointment it was NOT saved. Fine- she gave me lashes but this time around it was way too long and it did not fit my eye shape at all. I do not like too long lashes I like natural but full lashes that fit my eye shape just like the first time she did it. It's a shame because I was going to go back for refills and maintain my lashes but now I'm just waiting for them to fall out which is a total waste of money. Definitely recommend this place! Super cute and professional inside. They offer water and snacks in the waiting area and the rooms where you get your lashes done are all private rooms. In the rooms, calming music is played and I always end up falling asleep :) Ive gotten my lashes done by Belki, who is super sweet and kind and I really liked my lashes, she tried as best as she could to fill in any gaps as much as she could. I also got my lashes done by Jocelyn a few months ago, who was less on the sweeter side but hit the spot for me on my lashes. I LOVEEEE the way she did my lashes. I've always had a problem with my eyes looking even and especially my eyelashes but whatever she did... they're the most even I've ever seen them. This is the best my lashes have ever been done. I am looking forward to going back to Jocelyn but I do wanna widen my options by trying new people. Just FYI they have so many good deals here! I paid $125 for them to put $250 in credit at their place. I also got the three volume fills for $195 but only ended up paying $95 for it because I used $100 from the credit I had left. Extension work is top notch and more affordable than less skilled salons. Salon isn't fancy, but is comfortable and clean. My only challenge has been with scheduling - it's really hard to get in with Jenny, and the front desk staff isn't knowledgeable about the products or creative in working the schedule. I got exactly what I want and what I was looking for. Dramatic but also to the point that it could be natural. This is the most affordable extensions I could ever get too.
