The motor for our garage door went out. We called Chicago Metro Garage Doors and they said they could come that same day and gave us a 2 hr window. They didn't come during the window and finally arrived almost 2 hours later. The subcontractor who arrived for the job replaced the motor & openers and said the springs also needed replaced but he didn't have them, couldn't get them that day, wouldn't agree to come the next day, we would have to call the company. So we paid him for the work. Expensive at $1350. When requesting service we asked if they take cc and checks. Yes, we were told. The subcontractor said no checks & a 5% fee for cc. The company wouldn't call us back that day to schedule the spring replacement. We scheduled the next day, was given a 2hr window. Late again. A different subcontractor arrived not knowing what work needed to be done, no springs on hand and could not get them that day. So what? Make a 3rd appointment to not get the work completed? No thank you. We will go with someone else. read more

5 years later: our springs broke again. We called the same number but I think their name changed to Illinois Garage Door Repair (per the receipt). A technician was able to come within a couple hours. The tech had the springs we needed in stock and ready, and he repaired them quickly. Prices were higher than 5 years ago ($200 more), but that was expected. read more

It was great to have a chance to work with this company. They were very pleasant to speak to someone on my initial call. I am sure glad someone was able to come out on the same day since I had an issue with the garage door falling off the track and not closing properly. The hinge on the garage door was mounted incorrectly causing the door to fall off the track. It was good that I called back after 1 1/2 hours after my first call since the call dispatcher didn't return my call quickly enough to provide a more accurate service time arrival. I could have been waiting 3 hours later before someone called back. The service tech was able to give me a good estimate on time arrival when I called back the second time. I told the service technician to text me after leaving their last site and the person did honor this - this is good. After mentioning a few things on how the door was not aligned properly to the service tech, the tech was able figure those problems quickly. It was good that I stayed throughout the entire time since there were one or two adjustments that I noticed that the tech didn't bring to my attention. They were able to fix them. If you have time, it is best to view a few online video on potential problems and bring them to the service tech's attention. The thing that I was surprised was the high cost for an hour of work with a $20 replacement part. I was not quite sure how the tech came to the cost of the repair although I needed the repair to be done. It might have been better for the tech to let us know how the pricing was calculated. All of this information is provide anyone who wants this kind of service done since you need to be proactive and be prepared to ask what and how things need to be fixed. As a consumer and customer, we need to be able to give constructive criticism to businesses and remember that our reviews can greatly affect a business. I tend to be more generous in ratings in my reviews. If you want good service and a higher price, I would suggest to get this company to fix or install a new/replacement garage door for you. I can't rave enough about the level of customer service Chicago Metro Garage Doors gave us. We moved into a new house and something was off about the garage door. Through Yelp I messaged them and within a few minutes, I heard a response. We did all communications via email. No "let me get your number and I'll call you" nonsense like other contractors like to do. Within minutes my appointment was setup and better yet they would be at my house in a couple hours. I contacted Chicago Metro Garage Doors to replace a broken torsion spring and Yossi A. got back to me pretty quickly, saying someone can come out tomorrow morning between 10-12 with a range of about $200-$350. The next day though, a technician came over at 1PM. He did a quick inspection and within a couple of minutes, said my whole garage door and tracks need to be replaced, and it will be over $1000. The other option he gave me to fix the springs and repair the tracks will be close to $700, which is much more than I was expecting. I told him I will need to look around for quotes and make a decision at another time, and then he asked me for $20 for inspection. This was not mentioned at all by Yossi when I contacted him through Yelp. I argued with the technician and finally gave him $10, but I felt ripped off. Also, most places do not even charge to provide a quote, which was what this was. I would have been fine if this was mentioned to me before (though I probably would not have used them), but it wasn't. Update: The owner reached out to me to apologize and explained the situation that it was a sub-contractor who came out due to his Sunday employee having mechanical issues. The owner has good customer focus and everything has been resolved. read more

Chicago metro came out the same day we asked for a quote. They fixed our door in less than an hour and had everything running smoothly again. To give some context, we backed into our garage from inside, and it bent some things around, knocking it slightly off track. A couple of nice things to note: 1) The appointment was same day 2) The service was fast 3) They fixed the problem Some not so nice things: 1) Customer Service wasn't stellar. The service guy was a little pushy. 2) They don't have fixed prices. Could be good to negotiate, but it felt like I was talking to a bad car mechanic. 3) Pricy. The original price to add a stabilizing bar, and replace multiple bearings was $350. We negotiated down to $275. I still felt I was being stiffed. 4) The warranty for repair service is only good for 1 year. 3 stars for getting it done quickly. But minus 2 for making me feel like i got robbed. read more

There was a small dispute with the repair guy, who turned out to be from their partner shop, which turned out to be a misunderstanding between them, and was corrected after a phone call. The bad: they were ~10 minutes past the estimated window they gave me. Yep, that's the worst thing I can say. The good: We had a spring break this morning, trapping our car in the garage (ok, that's not good, but the rest is)... A yelp search led us to Chicago Metro Garage Doors... I called and there was a tech here less than 4 hours later. Seriously, few other home-maintence calls get that sort of response...and when they do, you pay a lot for it. In this case, they seemed to charge right along what googling told me it should cost - not more, not much less - but it was reasonable. The tech also caught a handful of other issues and fixed what needed to be fixed - adding a little bit more in price, but making our door MUCH quieter and more reliable in the process. Given all that, I'm definitely sold on them as our go-to garage door contractor... though hopefully we won't need them again for a long time. read more

Chicago Metro came to repair our garage door very quickly. The repairman was running a little later than I was initially told, about :45 mins, but he called from his previous job to let me know. I appreciated the extra communication. He arrived, offered two possible options for repairs and explained both to me. He completed the work in quickly, made additional adjustments beyond just the repair and explained everything clearly when he was done. I felt like the price was very reasonable for the work we needed. I hope I don't need to anytime soon but I would definitely call Chicago Metro again. read more

Very expensive; I found a similar opener at Home Depot (actually a higher hp unit ) for $200 less. They also wanted to replace our garage door - which was insulated and didn't need replacing- with a non-insulated door - in Chicago winters? The garage has water pipes to a slop sink, don't need those pipes to freeze. read more

Wife called and made appointment with Villa Park garage door repair and the resulting invoice is from Chicago metro. Appointment was made 2 days in advance so this was not an emergency call. Invoiced $180 for fixing a broken cable by replacing each of them, and two new garage door remotes at $80 each. The door works fine after one day but the bill is too high. One hour of labor, 2 cables, and two remotes for $340 is way too high. The same liftmaster 375 remotes can be bought for 17.50 each and cables cost about 10 dollars each. With the service call being $29 there is a total of $85 cost to Chicago metro and $255 charged for the labor. Way too high. I would like to hear from Chicago Metro on how they will address my concern. **Update - installer called to discuss. Will refund the remotes tomorrow when in are. Will update rating once that happens. Cost for repair and cable did not change and that is okay as the job appears well done and cables are thicker than those replaced. never had issue with the quality, just the cost for parts. Since we have 5 other remotes that can be used we just needed to get new batteries to use them and don't need any more remotes! Final review - went from 1 star to three. Service and professionalism are fine. Refunding the remotes is much appreciated too. Gave 3 stars for the actual value. $180 for 2 cables and less than one hour labor is steep price for the service. read more

Terrible after serving. Called & left numerous messages that a screw popped out. No reply. Second screw popped out 1 1/2 weeks later, called and left a message, still no reply. Found the website and tried to send an e-mail, I get a message saying that the link is not good. When I called the 800 number for a new quote (estimate on a new order), the owner, Dave, picked up. The hours are 7am to 9pm according to the website... BULL S*** . Couldn't come out by 8 am nor 7:30 pm. Someone came out this morning by 9 to repair.. screws back in and he tells me the opener is no good. I don't think the door is aligned properly and it's causing the over exhaust on the opener. I can't help to wonder if someone had come out for the repair when only ONE screw popped out. Don't they advertise service for the openers as well.. no recommendation was offered. 2-years warranty is an empty promise. read more
