I won't even give a star. After an accident I was having neck and back Pain so I went there. First visit I paid out of pocket ( about $100) for just a consultation which is understandable. Second third and fourth visits I had ice packs on my muscles for 10 min and electric shock things for 20 min. Exray ans him telling me not to get an adjustment cause my bones are fine and they can paralyze me. Told me I had muscle spasms ans nerve damage. After a few visits the receptionist told me my medical claim was exhausted and my insurance wasn't going to cover it so I called insurance on 3 way and the adjuster told her to put throug as Uninsured with same claim number. A few months later I get a bill for the $100 first visit that I paid ans had to text copy of receipt. Was told "oops, our mistake" Then I meet his partner on my last time going there, spent 5 min with me and just wanted to give me 3 prescriptions for pain killers and muscle relaxers. Now 5 months later I get a letter from them stating my insurance company said I wasn't communicating with them so they won't cover charges and sent me a bill for over $800 ( and his partner sent me a bill for $300) In this bill they charged me for days I wasn't even in the state ans will be providing proof to my insurance company, charged me for 2 visits on the same day AND charged my car insurance company for visits I didn't go to. I went to a REAL chiropractor and had exray. My neck bone is leaving heavily the opposite way it should be DUE TO THE CAR ACCIDENT and whiplash. I WILL be getting and Attorny and file a lawsuit as it's fraud AND they charged collections on to my credit for a bill that is FRAUDULENT! read more

I got out of the army 7 years ago with 2 ruptured disks. Dr. Cicero is the only one who has taken the time to get to know my pain. Figuring out what is causing the pain and why it is happening. I have damaged nerves and he explained what is happeningg, along with creating a customized plan for me to get better and get rid of the pain. He is adaptable and when there are set-backs or hurdles he keeps adjusting the plan to fit your needs. In short, he has given me relief that other doctors and big hospitals have not. I came here for the first time and had a terrible experience. This is my first time I have ever felt compelled to write a yelp review, so that says something. Dr. Gerard Cicero was unbelievable, I thought I might be on candid camera because it was so bad, it was was comedic. When I walked in I saw a small facility for sports injury rehabilitation. When I blindly picked this place on the list of my insurance, I chose it because it was called alternative medicine group. I imagined a place with whole patient care that included many different types of doctors and options for care. Now I see that alternative meant mostly for sports injuries or patients with major back problems. I waited a few minutes, then I was placed in the small ghetto feeling doctor's room to wait for Cicero. A very nice nurse came in to check blood pressure and ask a few basic questions. When the doctor came in he did not greet me with a hello or introduce himself at all. He just started off with " You should really get a PPO because HMOs have way to much paperwork and are a real hassel." I explained I could not afford it on my part time teacher salary. He continued on how it is worth it to pay the extra. I thought to myself "well, I sure wouldn't be here if I had a PPO!" He then immediately began firing personal questions at me, I know doctors must know your history, but it was so impersonal, I didn't feel he was even really listening, and he still hadn't even introduced himself! I asked him if he could recommend an OBGYN and he responded, "I can do pap smears, but I don't really like to." That made me feel great! After about 20 minutes of questioning he explained that I would need to come back for my second appointment to finish the questionnaire. They normally don't do it all in one appointment because it is too long! WOW! I have to spend another evening in this **** hole?! I don't think so. I left knowing I would not return, and so continues my quest for a half way decent doctor. Talk about "bed side manner!" I would not recommend this doctor to my worst enemy. read more

I recently just stopped going here due to travel and time constraints, but my experience was acceptable. I really enjoyed how Dr. Cicero took time out to answer all of my questions and explained my condition to me when I went there for an evaluation. The staff was very nice and always greeted me with a smile. I thought the care I received there on a daily basis was average. I sought treatment from Dr. Cicero between 1995 and 2001. I blame him for the current back pain I still live with on a regular basis. He diagnosed my scoliosis. But never had me do any physical therapy to strengthen my back muscles, improve my posture, or decrease my pain in the long term. I went on a weekly basis for ultrasound treatment and the occasional back adjustments, the only treatments he ever recommended. He strongly discouraged me from participating in physical activity, I was a teenager and this was devastating. For years he discouraged me from doing any physical activity claiming that it would make my back pain worse. I was also charged for services that were initially supposedly covered by my insurance, but they waited months to notify my parents that they weren't and then made them pay. I hate this doctor and he should feel awful for lying to an adolescent and taking advantage of my parents financially. They are crooks and liars. Well, I grew up and Google was invented. After doing my own research, I found out he lied about everything. I should have been doing exercises to build and strengthen my back muscles and that would have solved my pain issues. I hate their practice. They take advantage of the naive. My parents and myself trusted him and believed he was being caring, but it was all lies to get paid. I believe that if I would have received the proper treatment while my body was developing, I would have been spared years of pain. I don't know how people like him and his wife live with themselves knowing that they are lying and taking advantage of people. The world is full of awful people, like Dr. Cicero, out to make money of those too trusting. Instead of improving people's quality of life to prevent and improve further injury, they promote services that will not improve your physical health in the long term (so you can continue treatment indefinitely and securing him payment). They work with a large immigrant population and that just makes me sick that they are taking advantage of people who believe a doctor is helping them, he is instead promoting more pain in order for the patients to seek more services and pay Dr. Cicero more money. read more

I was compelled to write a review based on services performed on my father in 2012. I feel it's my duty to warn people and save them from coming to seek any type of care. Most of the reviews here are true. Dr Cicero does give you a used car salesman vibe, he is not very personable and it's obvious he's trying very hard to get you to continue your care at his office. He will scare you with his diagnosis so you get either a steroid injection or whatever his suggestion for care will be which he will milk your insurance as much as possible. And if your insurance does not pay for all the stuff he bills them then you will pay and if you don't pay he will sue you. Yes that's right I know a couple of people he has sued and I have looked him up on the BBB site and there are many complaints on him for billing. There are many many other places you can go save yourself and don't come here! read more

I found this office via my insurance website and was highly dissatisfied by the experience. I declined services once I finally got called into a private room. I waited almost a full hour to be called into a room only to be shockingly asked to remove all of my clothes and change into a gown. I've received chiropractic care for years at another office and never once was asked to remove ALL of my clothes-- not even for the xray that was done on my back. I was told that the doctor had to do a complete physical before any chiropractic care could be done and that all adjustments are done in a gown-- not in my clothes as I had always previously experienced. My gut feeling told me to decline services as I felt their request for a full physical was ridiculous and I'm fairly certain the doctor is not a physician! I suddenly had a terrible feeling that maybe there are hidden cameras in the room, waiting to watch me undress. I never got to meet the doctor, but I saw him walking around the office and he seemed entirely creepy to me. I called my previous chiropractor to ask his opinion regarding my experience and he confirmed that it all seemed odd. I should've read all the other bad reviews before even bothering to try this place. Stay away. read more

They keep on billing me for services I already paid from and still have receipts, I keep calling the billing department and she agreed it was an error but still keep sending me bills. This place is great! I love that they are a multi specialty clinic! From the time you walk in to the time you walk out, you are helped. You are always notified what will happen next if you ever are waiting. The communication is great among the staff. Any questions that arise are always addressed. I attended Dr. C's practice for 3 months and I HIGHLY recommend NOT attending THIS practice. They wait until you have come to the office after 2 to 3 months and then send the bill to insurance company, all the while, you pay a co pay, that does not pay cover much. After paying $160.00 worth of co payments, I recieved a bill from the Dr. C's office for an additional 135.00. The office does not post the fee's for each visit or situation, which you are being seen for. I looked at an itemized bill that I received and I was charged $50.00 for physical theraphy/workout session, that I DID by myself. How can you charge a patient for a procedure that they did themselves. DO NOT ATTEND this office, the only person that is making money is Dr. C; which I might add, SOUNDS like and looks like an old school Chicago Police officer and a CAR SALESMAN. He takes you through all these procedures (IN OFFICE AND OUT OF OFFICE) that have no direct relationship with your issue. Instead of treating the problem he wants you to get an MIR, put you on medication, physical therapy and a bunch of other stuff that really does not do you any jucstice, in the long term. All the while, you are lossing money and he walks around his office looking like and Italian GOD FATHER. Ask them up front what the cost are, my bet, they'll say, WE cannot tell you until we run it through your insurance company. STAY AWAY read more

If you've ever wondered what would happen if you combined a used car salesman with an aging steroid-popping weightlifter, dressed him up in a physician's robe (clogs included!), and gave him the ability to recite several scary sounding spinal disorders you would get something like Dr. Cicero. The term "Doctor" is used loosely at the Chicago Neck and Back Institute. If by "Doctor" you mean someone who is trained in the diagnosis and treatment of physical illness, think again. This is quackery at its comedic finest. Dr. Cicero is comfortable telling you that you have serious medical conditions that run counter to your personal experience, test results and any diagnosis you may have received from your bona fide board licensed physician. His MO seems to be to ascribe these false diagnoses so that he can bilk your medical benefit via office visits without actually treating you. It would be VERY interesting and entertaining to obtain medical billing records from Dr. Cicero's office. Word to the wise: if you have serious pain in your neck or back, stay away from this office. I have been going to Chicago Neck and Back since 2000, after receiving back and neck injuries in an auto accident. Dr. Cicero, Cathy, Stephanie and the rest of the staff exude professionalism at all times. Dr. Cicero took the time to find the underlying problems with my injuries, via exam, and MRI imaging and X-rays, before treatment began. I continue to return whenever I have flare-ups, or just for regular maintenance. They are very easy to deal with as far as insurance is concerned, as well as switching appointment times at the last minute. They also have a Dr. Of Neurology in office once a week, if meds are necessary as part of the treatment plan. I highly recommend this office to anyone in need of quality chiropractic care! read more
