This spot NEVER disappoints!!! I now live in NYC since 1995 but every time I come home to Chicago I MUST come here to get food and have been doing so since it was I-57. We arrived to a crowd of people who were waiting for food they had already ordered; which actually worked out in our favor because we were the only customers that needed to make an order. The friendly lady at the window told us she would take our order as soon as she was sure there was enough food to fill the orders already made; my heart sank! Great service though the greeting could have been sooner. She hooked us up though! But once we ordered and I told her I had to have this food because in NYC the bbq ain't it. I said what I said. Yeah, I make do with 2 spots (who shall remain nameless) I may go to once a year each to get my fix but they ain't Pit Stop. The food was AMAZING!!! We got a combo of rib tips and hot links and when I tell you the heat of the hot links was so perfectly paired with the seasonings. I like heat and the links did not disappoint. The link was so good I had it as a breakfast sausage the next day. The tips were tender, meaty and saucy. Hell, I don't even mess with white bread but I indulged just because. These are the best barbecue ribs I've ever had. I ordered a half slab of ribs with mixed sauce both spicy and Mild. They have the best sauce and the ribs were cooked perfectly. I got there in the morning just before they open because I smelled it through the neighborhood. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I NEVER leave a bad reviews ESPECIALLY for a black-owned business. But this is a place where people deserve a warning; 1) because it's a rip off 2) because the service was terrible all the way to the owner. My family ordered a meal that says it serves 30 for $88 plus tax. It was supposed to have chicken, links and ribs (see pictures). My nephew picked up the food and as soon as he brought it home we knew It's NO WAY this serves even 15 people. The troubles really began when we called to complain. Everyone to the manager had a terrible attitude and then he gave us the owners number who was worse.... i explained the situation and then he asked me "what I wanted him to do about it". I said either give us more food or give us a refund. He said he wouldn't do either, and it says it would serve up to 30 people (which it clearly does not). He again asked me "What did I want him to do about it" ... which I now realized must have been sarcastic. I told him I presented 2 options so he needs to tell me how he will make it right. He said I can just order more food but he would do nothing else. I've never had a manager let alone an owner tell me something like that. I would ever order anything else from them. I tried this Spot for the first time last night . I ordered a large tip with wings with light sauce. I had a 30 minute wait but food was fresh off the grill. On each of my visits, I always found a pissed off customer and an attendant with a shitty attitude towards them. It's ironic that this restaurant is called Pit Stop, because their speed is the exact opposite of a Pit Stop. If you order food from here, be prepared to wait at least 40 minutes. I can't lie, the food is great. But the service sucks! I watched the cashier tell every customer, no matter what they ordered, from a pan of wings to a small order of rib tips, that it would be 20 min. In fact, I am typing this review as I wait for my food, which he told me 20 min. That was 45 minutes ago. All I ordered was a tip/link combo. It's actually-0 stars but that's not an option. On 9/5 I was standing in the lobby of the Riverdale location for over 10 minutes. I knocked on the employee entrance door to get the attention of the staff and the rude owner comes out asking who knocked on the door and not to ever knock on the door "or else". I asked or else what and he told me to "get out" he wasn't serving me. I m asking that the cameras are pulled and this matter will be looked into by the proper authorities. Terrible customer service to the point where the people taking orders in person and over the phone need to be fired. I placed an order over the phone and the person I spoke with repeated my order back to me, took my name, then gave me my wait time for the order. When I arrived to pick up my order, not only was it not ready, but they didn't even have a record of my order being placed and kept asking me if I had maybe had it in another name. And when they make a mistake they feel that all they need to do is replace the order and you have to bring it right back no matter how far you live or your physical conditions. This place use to be I57 barbecue house I called to place my order it is now called the pitstop and it is the pits I placed my order over the phone went to pick up my order look behind the counter and it was so disgusting it was so nasty in there I canceled my order and walk back out . this place should be shut down and I asked the young lady behind the counter was they new owners she told me That It was the same owners from I 57 and there was another one just open in Chicago Heights .
