Here I am again...... my husband surprised me with a bucket of tips Friday afternoon...March 20TH as my previous experience was horrible, hoping they had improved yet I am STILL disappointed! Small, tiny scraps of meat hiding halfway through the bottom of the bucket with a few recognizable rib tips at the top. The slithers and scraps were old, burnt, and tough. We used to love to go to Kirks BBQ for their ribs. The slab was an actual slab, not like now it's not even a full slab and they'd like to give you those hard to chew small ends .They're always season so good we never get sauce. However this is the second time we went for lunch and the ribs were last night's ribs. If you know food, you can tell when they're old these were old and dry and wasted $35. I should've took a picture for now on that's what I'll do and I will make sure they show me my food before they close it up and bag it and that's everywhere from now on read more

Up until this last visit, I can honestly say their barbecue tasted pretty good and it was local. I had a large tip with hot link, mild sauce on everything. When I got to my car I tasted everything & it tasted boiled and not off the grill/smoker. The link didn't even have a dark color to it. Those tips were not tender and were very flavorless. The sauce didn't mask any of it. I did notice that their big smoker wasn't in the parking lot anymore. Like I couldn't even smell the restaurant in the parking lot anymore. Maybe they have a smaller one in the back. I don't know. But I paid over $30 for that and it didn't taste that good. My mouth was watering and I was deeply disappointed. If I could give it Zillow stars I would! These wings they are so tiny and every last wing had dark black bones. When this happens, that means the chicken is old, but you chose to sell it anyway the fries weren't even good but I did eat them because they didn't look old food cost too much for you all to serve old chicken wings. It's almost a year since my first 5-star review of this place and I felt it necessary to give a review of today's visit on 8/30/24. To be fair, I will break down the rating. Disclaimer: I don't care how good food is, if the face of the establishment is not giving good customer service, that's a huge turn off. Wanted to get some jerk rib tips and chicken wings. I tried a mini jerk tip the last time and really enjoyed it. I walk up to the place order window and Ronnie (black woman with thick black frame glasses) said "Can I help you?" I told her I wanted to order Jerk Tips - they have it on the menu board but they are an extra charge and are made to order - the prices aren't listed. So I asked her what sizes of tips they have? She sarcastically said "Have you ever been here before?" which to me meant I shouldn't ask any questions if I've been here before which is ridiculous. I told her "yes". She reluctantly went and showed me the different size cartons. I then asked for prices for the large and x-large. She only told me the price of the large so I again had to ask for the price of the x-large. She made me feel like I was a bother and no customer should be made to feel that way. I ordered the x-large (cost almost $29), 5 wings ($12) and a side of cole slaw ($2.50). I asked her how long and she said 20-25 minutes for the wings. I asked how long for the entire order and she said they don't get everything else ready until the wings are done. I asked to pay using the tap to pay. She held up the machine on top of the glass and I put my phone on the other side of the thick glass. It didn't take and she says "It didn't work". So I had to ask her to try again, she didn't offer or say anything to me after the first try. It's awkward to tap through glass so there lied the problem. The second time it took. My bill was around $45 - too much money to be treated with attitude. I left, did an errand and came back. The woman who gave me my order at the pick up window was just the opposite - very pleasant young lady who was very nice to me and her name was Savaji. Note: there was a male customer who was in front of me who was trying to get the attention of a young lady working behind the counter. He told Ronnie that he wanted to get that lady's attention. Ronnie asks "what's the message?" and he told her he just wanted someone to get her attention to direct her to him. Ronnie tells him "she working!" like it was a cardinal sin when all it was was a simple request. He was able to finally get the young lady's attention to just simply tell her hello - I think they were familiar with each other. I have been here several times and have recommended this place to my friends. Customer service in the past has been good. After today, not sure of another visit because nothing warranted the kind of treatment I got. Note: the food is still plentiful and very delicious. So here is the rating breakdown: Food - 5 stars Customer Service - Ronnie, 1 star, Savaji, 5 stars Accessible Parking Lot - 5 stars Suggestion: please post prices of the jerk tips on the menu board - that would have eliminated many of the questions that I had today. read more

If your in the mood for some tender, delectable bbq that's flavorful you might want to stop in but I caution you it might make you slap your mama! It's a small carry out joint that does not take phone orders, but you can pay with credit card or cash. I tried the slab of ribs, the jerk chicken, and the rib tips. The rib tips were some of the most flavorful chucks of tender meat I have sunk my teeth into. Oh my goodness right here in South Holland you can easily develop a food addiction because the chef is serving up some phenomenal bbq. If the best of Jamaican jerk and Texas barbecue had a baby this is what it would taste like. A-M-A-ZING The "small" chicken is half a chicken. The large is 3 leg quarters. And both come with fries. I'd love to speak to the rest of the menu, but you'll have to wait for me to eat it all. There's really no seating, but there is a great park with tables across the street or you can take it home. Ok!! We went tonight I got the Mild Tip/Chicken and my brother got the Mix Tip/Chicken. It's mild sauce or mixed (mild and hot) or hot sauce. I LOVED the mild!!! I'm not that into spicy but my brother LOVED the mixed!!! I also got a link... link is pretty good! Not burnt like most places. I almost didn't try the place because it's in South Holland but it's black owned and you can see them cooking your food!! The place is clean! And the owners were in the back cooking and chatting with us and making suggestions!!! Good food, good vibe!! This may be my new favorite spot!! Delicious!! I stopped in right before they were closing on a Thursday and my food was super fresh and delicious as if they had just opened. The rib tips were tender and tasty. I ordered the jerk tips. A little spicier than anticipated but good. I'll get regular bbq next time. My dad has ordered from here a few times so I was happy to give it a go myself. Cashier mess up my order and o call and talk to the manager ,he was extremely rude and told me it was my fault ,there is a big difference between hot links and wings, but I receive hot links and chicken legs and thighs. And he refuse to correct the order the hot links was hard and the chicken was burnt. I paid $16.00 the service was lousey. I will never go there again. I'm not a huge fan of BBQ but I will eat it occasionally. I have heard about this place since it was a grill at South Holland's Farmer's Market, but I never had any, until today. Generally sauce makes the meat in commercial bbq establishments. However, here the meat stands alone. The sauce was an unwanted distraction. I'm thankful they didn't drown the meat in sauce and the bottom rib tips barely had any sauce. It was there that I realized the delicious seasoning on the meat. I would not get sauce here. The meat didn't need it. Also, they were the meatiest tips I've ever had... like the whole order!!! I didn't eat the chicken and I didn't love the links and the fries were greasy. I have patronized them several times, and everything was good. Today, I ordered a tip/link combo and 5 wings both with mild sauce, and I'm not the one to complain, but the food was horrible. I called them and explained what I ordered and mentioned that the chicken was old and not done. The tips were dry, the links were pink on the inside, and the fries weren't cooked done. Also, there was not enough sauce on neither order. The manager stated they could replace the chicken and fries but not the tips & link. I asked to speak to the owner, Kirk, but she claimed he was on a business call. I traveled 18 miles & spent $35 for the manager to tell me that was the best they could do, so I guess Kirk's BBQ would rather lose a customer than satisfy them. This spot is awesome! The rib tips are always tender and seasoned (both Pork and Turkey), you can literally eat them with or without sauce. That's how good they are, sometimes they can be a little stingy on the sauce but hell they're good as well without sauce.
