Chicago Stucco did an amazing job on our 120 year old home! They came highly recommended from our neighbors and we are so glad that we went with them! Tom provided a detailed work order and contract, as well as a window of time when the work would be done. They finished on budget and within that time frame, and coordinated with our carpenters working on repairs. The crew arrived every day bright and early and well prepared for the work and it was amazing to watch their skill and artistry and see the progress each day. We had a 2-week job given the extent of the wear and damage on the house, there were whole sections of stucco missing, myriad holes in the walls, and extensive ivy growth. The crew added new stucco replete with the galvanized mesh wire, and made it match perfectly. The ivy had to be burned off with torches, which had to have been a tedious job, but they absolutely pulled it off. Likewise, a previous owner painted the stucco and much of this had to be scrapped and brushed off--like Tom says, "Don't paint your stucco!" They finished the work with a custom color of our choice and it was perfect. I know some reviews say that Tom can be brusque, though in my experience I found him to simply be no-nonsense and straightforward. It was always a pleasure talking with Tom as well as Eddie, and certainly Spiro who managed the worksite. Tom is the rudest man I have ever worked with. The previous owner of our house had used him for stucco repair and the house is covered under a 5 year warranty. When I called tom to repair a crack in the stucco that was covered under the warranty he brushed it off saying someone would come take a look. When I pressed him for a day he called me and told me to stop bugging him and hung up. Wow! I've never dealt with a worse business owner! If I didn't have to deal with this man due to warranty I would have told him to take his business elsewhere! Disgusting! read more

Stucco repair is tricky. You have to find all the loose material including everything that may not readily visible. You have to do the repairs in stages with time to dry between. And you have to match the texture and the color. None of this is for someone who doesn't know what they're doing and, believe me, Chicago Stucco certainly does. They restored our 94-year old, 2-story stucco to beautiful condition and with repairs so well crafted I challenge anyone to find where they were made. This guy needs to be in an institution . Asked an estimate for patching/fixing the facade which is 300 sq ft . He sent an estimate of 20,000 $ to fix the whole house , without even looking at the house or asking pictures . I politely responded that the scope of current work is only the facade. He said " we will do it our way or not do it at all " . I won't waste your time with rest of the details . Anyway if you still think , this is a one time thing , just ask for an estimate , I bet you will regret the 5 mins you spent . read more

Don't bother wasting your time. The prices are insane. I called the company to have a portion of my wall repaired. I asked to meet with the person doing the estimate so i could show the area. NO ONE CALLED. A few days later i receive this insane contract/ estimate. I call and ask why no one would call so i could show the area. Tom calls me back and says my assistant that's been with me 46years measured your back wall. I say to him. Well how did he measure if my property is secured with a locked 8ft fence ? As well i didn't want my entire wall done. Tom then rudely says to me well we're not interested and hangs up. If this is the degree of customer service you receive when simply trying to get. Tom is old school, either you hate him or love him. I wish I had read the reviews here before considering hiring Tom to provide an estimate for a house I recently purchased on the south side of Oak Park. Tom was able to get back to me within minutes after I called their main business from my online search for a stucco person. Tom seemed offended that one of my people wanted to be present during his visit for an estimate. Communication got rough on the phone and email. The only time he called back is when I called the main business line again. Based on others' Yelp review, it appears Tom may not have been the best person to reach out to for bigger stucco projects. Job done today, 5-4-17, used a color of paint that doesn't match. When they left the job in that condition, they emptied their reaming mixture on the grass. The owner, Tom, when confronted with this said, that's' their policy to pour left over mixture on the lawn. I told him we have sewers to use. I wouldn't even bother with this company. We sent in an online inquiry, he emailed asking for additional information and then I had to follow up 3 days later when they would be able to come out to give us a quote. I was told they would someone would be out Thursday, he cancelled and gave us names of people who were so busy. He then said he came out this morning at 7:20 (didn't even called to tell us he was coming) but never knocked on the door to tell us he was here and provided an email saying it was another issue outside of stucco repair. I honestly doubt he even came out because there was no movement on our ring door bell... I then asked if he knew what the average cost was to remove stucco from a house. This was a one star but I changed it to two because I didn't actually hire him and can't judge his work. However I have to be honest about my interaction. We called him about a badly needed stucco repair and he told my wife he'd come on a certain day "in the morning." Later she called back for a more specific time window, as I wanted to be there, and he said he "didn't need an appointment." So ...I took off work all morning, my wife rearranged her plans too, and he arrived shortly after noon with no apology appearing impatient. He may have felt he was doing us a favor, as he'd told my wife he was booked for nearly 4 months. I expressed a little frustration with his lack of communication, as now it meant more time off work for me but he interrupted "I don't need you here anyway," (how was he going to get in my yard, I wondered). I said, ok, let me show you the worse part, he interrupted "I've been doing this for 50 years, I don't need you to show me anything." I'm thinking this is how he talks to clients? So I leave and my wife, a saint, walked him around. Later I receive an estimate for $5k+ to fix "the worst five areas," color matching an extra charge. I have no idea what he's proposing, exactly. Since a neighbor had recommended him I thought I'd look a little further-- maybe he's that good? There were just three Google reviews, two were bad. One shared how the owner had been offended when he hadn't use Chicago Stucco *exclusively (small patch by another company) and then wouldn't honor their warrantee. The owner responded with a long defensive comment with insults and threats. I chose not to hire him so I can't comment on the actual quality of the work. I had my house done by Chicago Stucco at the end of October. They also did my stucco around 20 years ago. This time they made some repairs and applied a new darker color. I had a color swatch of the color I wanted and they provided me with a 16"x16" stucco square with the color applied to it and it matched my sample perfectly. They started the work on Tuesday 10/18/18 and completed it on Sat. 10/22. It looks wonderful!!! I couldn't be happier. My neighbors on both sides of me said it looks like a new house and how nice the crew was when they were working on it. Rich (not sure of his name) the foreman for the job was so good and meticulous. I'm really happy and highly recommend them. My neighbor has a stucco house and was so impressed by their work and appearance of my house she asked them for their business card. read more

I really wish I didn't have to write a negative review, but I feel compelled. I'm sure this company might do good on certain jobs (the previous owner of our house supposedly had a large patch done by this company and it looks great 5 years later), but our experience was not positive. We hired Chicago Stucco in 2015 to fix about 8 cracks in our stucco. Most of the cracks were minor and vertical, but there was also a long section of broken stucco along the driveway. The work they did seemed to be really good except they did not fix all the cracks, and when I asked them they said some cracks were too minor to fix. One of those cracks was a really long one that actually provided the impetus for me to hire a stucco contractor in the first place, so I was a little disappointed. Not fixing all the cracks seemed a little weird, but I thought, whatever they must know something I don't. By 2016 the repaired stucco along the driveway began to crack, even in places I hadn't shoveled, so it must have been related to just being up against the concrete driveway and the weather. I contacted Chicago Stucco and they actually sent a crew over to fix the new cracks. So I was pretty happy. I asked since they were coming out anyway if I could pay them to fix the cracks I wanted fixed from before, but again they said they were too minor. Alright so around this time I replaced my wall a/c unit and I had a huge hole in the side of my house. Chicago Stucco quoted me a reasonable price to stucco over the framed hole, but couldn't get to me for 6 weeks or so. I needed this job done quickly so I hired a different stucco guy to do the patch. This guy did an OK job but the color wasn't matched as well as what Chicago Stucco had done for us so I asked Chicago Stucco if they could perhaps stain the patch and while they were at it could they please fix the long vertical crack I wanted fixed from before. This time they acted offended that I hired someone else to do the patch and said they "weren't interested" in working for me anymore. They did refer me to Forest Park Stucco who has done work on another house down the street from me and seemed to do a great job. Now in 2018 the patch along my driveway is cracking again. It's actually worse than it ever was before I ever hired Chicago Stucco. I took some pictures and sent them to Chicago Stucco and they again said they aren't interested in helping me. I said that's fine, but could they please refund the cost of the patch along my driveway. They said sorry no refunds. I reminded them of their 5 year warranty and that I would be writing a thorough negative review. In conclusion I would not hire this company to repair cracks in stucco. We had some major cracks in our stucco exterior and a little hole from a patch of missing stucco in the back of our home. I called Chicago Stucco plus 2 different places for estimates. One of the other companies would not travel as far to my neighborhood but recommended Chicago Stucco which I was happy to hear. Chicago Stucco gave me an estimate for repairs as well as what it would cost to do the entire house. They explained to me the limitations of a repair job vs. full redo (for e.g. color matching). In the end I opted for repair. I was emailed and snail-mailed a contract right away. All of my questions were answered via email or phone call. Because of the pandemic, I did not interact with the men who did the repairs but I observed them to be professional, careful with work surfaces, and did a fantastic job of cleaning up when done. There was a missed patch but once I called, it was remedied within days. I'm very happy with their work and will be calling them when I'm ready for a full stucco redo. read more

Needed stucco work done in front of historic home in Oak Park area. Provided great quote. Followed up to make sure I received the color booklet ahead of time and when we thought we were picking the right color, Tom called and said he would send over 2 larger color samples to my home to check again as the original color we chose seemed to be too yellow and he was right. The day prior to the work scheduled, the team set up the ladder,etc and showed up on time the next day to start the work. I basically had 2 cracks and had my 2 sided townhouse stucco done for almost $4000. 9 months ago. I held out $100 for the Azalea they broke completely off and the mess they left plus the crack that was never completely fixed. They voided my 4 year warranty because of the $100 hold. I tried to get them to fix the 2 cracks that came back almost immediately by sending them the 100. for the warranty held hostage. They still refuse to fix their work! They seemed really nice when they were hired but the follow through was sorely lacking! My advice if you hire them because clearly they are everywhere - don't let them leave until it's right. I think they did a very good job on my house and it looks great. They were professional and thorough during the whole process. One small complaint is that the communication was a bit uneven - it seems like they are really busy. It seems that they just finished one day and left, without ever walking me through the work that was done. Prior to the engagement, I mostly got very short emails from them as communication. It took a while for them to come out, but their backlog was clearly pointed out in their quote. The quality of the work was excellent.
