Completely screwed up a closing on a mobile home park for a client. They transferred a mobile home that was a tenants and the seller did not own to the buyer and the buyer ended up in the news for tyring to unlawfuly evict people and other issues. They did not follow escrow instructions that were signed by seller and buyer that said funds would be released to seller at a certain date and did not release a large sum of money to the seller for over 2 years and it ended up in court. Juanita Drew also missinformed the buyer of the wrong number of mobile homes that were to be sold in an email and refused to address or correct their mistake after multiple attempts with the individuals, Juanita Drew and Sheila Hartman and management. All requests to deal with this and correct the problem went ignored. This created a conflict with the buyer and he ratained an attorney and was misled he claims. He walked every single home that was included with his agent and knew exactly what he was getting and signed off on the feasibility and ll contingencies long before this because he did know what was included, but escrow telkling him the worn information created a huge problem. all the y had to do is own up to their mistake!!!! Then Correct it. The listing clearly stated the number of homes, both the listing agent and the buyers agent acknowledged the number of homes included, then Chicago Title closed and recorded the titles wrong and had to re-record and then they also failed to have the buyer sing the updated rent and deposit form that was provided to them and is documented on email. A complaint was filed against them by the seller to the Insurance Commissioners office and the seller had to retain an attorny to pursue getting the balance of $73,000 that was due them and in the end the seller got the amount that we said was due. Their performance was not even worth one star. The buyer picked them as his preferred escrow and it appears like maybe they were not an unbiased escrow and they would not take care of things for the seller. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! read more

Sheila, specifically, has been abysmal to work with as a closer. I represented the buyer on an off-market transaction in Tacoma. Still, 3 months after closing, she has failed to admit her error on the closing HUD. She forgot to include a lien payoff that was supposed to be paid out of the sellers proceeds. If not paid by her, my client will incur several thousand dollars. Nice!! read more

I can't even say how horrible it was trying to work with them and our agent. How do you err on the side of caution by leaving a SPOUSE off the title? Mistress? Sure, leave her off the title. I was a first time home buyer, using a power of attorney for my deployed spouse, and out of state. Yet they made everything as hard as possible. On top of all that, they were judgmental and rude. This was the worst customer service I have experienced in a long time! I have used Chicago title before but I will never use this particular office again. Tanya is extremely condescending and really doesn't seem to care about handling business in a timely manner. A signing for a modified loan should be quick and easy but it took over 5 days! Rose took over when I could no longer deal with the other one but even then it seemed like they just couldn't get things done by the end of the day. I will never use the Puyallup office again and IMO they give Chicago title a bad name. read more

I would give Chicago Title zero stars if possible. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone- they are nothing but a giant pain in the rear. Where to begin.. Right from the get-go they were awful and completely unhelpful. When we called to set-up an appointment to sign the papers for our house, they said they hadn't received them yet (which was a lie, they had them for more than a few days). When I called back to find the status of our appointment, the receptionist, Tanya, was extremely rude to me and acted like I was a bother, saying "I told your husband I would call him," which she obviously never did. Chicago Title also failed to send our realtor the papers for her to review before we signed, and when we went in to sign them the woman who was handling our file never even came out to meet us. They also lied to us on four separate occasions concerning the seller of the house. They called our realtor and told her that the seller didn't actually have Power of Attorney to sell the house, which he did, (and also made-up facts, such as the owner of the house being deceased- which he is not.). Once it was semi-sorted, they hassled the seller four times, saying they needed a "doctors note" (which he gave them each of the four times). Lastly, after rescinding our offer on the home, we were waiting to hear back about being reimbursed for our money. They called both my husband and I, left a voicemail, emailed us, and my husband physically talked to them on the phone, where they said we could come in any time to pick-up our check -- but yet when we actually went in to receive the money, they acted like they had no idea where it was or why we were asking for it. After a while of "searching," a random woman handed us a check and walked away- and never even checked our IDs to make sure we were actually the homebuyers! Good things? Building was nice, and they have fancy artwork. Also the notary was friendly. Overall, TERRIBLE company and horribly organized. Extremely grateful we won't be stuck with a title company like them for twenty-five years! read more

Oh my goodness! I could not speak more highly of Chicago title. The whole team including the front desk was beyond helpful. It was the first time selling my home and I was lost. Our realtor wasn't the best, but Cheryl always went above and beyond and helped me understand and even helped me make some changes at closing. I would honestly refer anyone who is buying or selling to go through them. They go above and beyond in every aspect and they communicate clearly and quickly. They also made their best effort to having a notary come to me so I didn't have to make a drive out to them. read more

Terrible experience with closer Cheryl Steiner in Puyallup. My buyers got the manager Shiela involved and she first took the side of Cheryl... saying she didn't know where my buyers got their info and when I broke down the last week of events with her.. she tried to resolve the issue. The issue btw is my buyers jumped through hoops to close on a Friday and Escrow didn't get the docs to the Sellers timely and my buyers were Homes's all weekend. You would then think they would rush on Monday or have manager Shiela hold Cheryls hand with this because my buyers took the day off... nope... the official closing email came in at 4:30 pm. Customer service does not exist in this Chicago Title Puyallup branch. read more

Would not use Chicago Title company on any future closings. Delayed closing and funding - when specific questions were asked of them, they did not answer the questions asked, unavailable to answer questions the day that it was scheduled to close, no notification that it was delayed..... They made it seem like more of an inconvenience that I was trying to get answers about a closing. I would highly recommend going elsewhere to take care of any title needs! read more

Chicago Title is AMAZING!! They helped us close a difficult transaction in record time and saved us the house. Could of been a big problem with timing, and another title company failed to do what they were supposed to do so we had to rush over to this Chicago Title and they did a fantastic job. Can't recommend them enough, they are all great! read more

I'm a Real Estate broker in Washington and I have always enjoyed working with Chicago title. However, the puyallup office was the hardest to work with. The escrow officer would never return my phone calls, took days to reply to my emails, she was tough to get a hold of and in this business, the worst thing is to have to work with someone and depend on someone who lacks communication skills. I think next time I have a transaction in this area, I will surely use another title company. read more
