253 Realty

253 Realty

Our journey started early October when we first met Alvin. He was referred to us by a friend. We…read moremade our way to his office at 253Realty close by Golden Givens Rd. Right away he was very friendly and addressed me and my partner's needs right away. First impressions really mean a lot to me especially in the field I work. Alvin definitely left a very good first impression with us. Instead of getting to the administrative stuff (so boring) he took the opportunity to get to know us, which made us feel appreciated as a valued customer. Alvin made the paperwork experience fun. We shared a lot of laughs and he made us feel like we could take off our shoes and relax while he puts in the work. Also, he's LGBT friendly, which I was a huge plus on my end. After all the administrative stuff was done (super boring) he took a look at his calendar and was able to squeeze us in to view a home nearby. We arrived at the first viewing. Right away Alvin knew what we wanted after getting to know us a bit. One of the things I admired about him was that he never used his own personal opinion about the house unless we would ask. He pointed out some things right off the bat that may need some work but also noted that he's not an inspector. He would tell us not to fall in love too quickly and be patient. He advised we should look at other homes first before making our first offer. Our first offer was on a home along Cushman Ave in Tacoma. We experienced falling in love w/ a 1 bedroom home and 1 bath. It was about 700 sqft (wtf?). When Alvin took us to view the home, he pointed out features and potential upgrades for the future. I also liked that he explained the difference between updates and upgrades. Alvin was definitely on that offer by being persistent with checking in and mediating what exactly was going on. We ended up writing a letter to try and secure the home with the offer we put. Unfortunately, we were outbid. Ugh, I'm so glad we didn't get that tiny 1 bedroom w/ an awkward mirror on top of the tub. Alvin's lesson was don't jump the gun too early because there may be something else better out there. However, he pointed out that if it's what we want he will fight for it! It was time to put another offer on another home. Our last offer which totals 3, we finally got accepted. It was a total upgrade from that little Cushman house. After all that crazy stress about getting outbid and all the wondering, Alvin always kept our spirits lifted by telling us not to worry and that "he will" get us into a home. His words came through to me as confident and uplifting. When we did the walkthrough I was excited and he would remind me in a joking way not to get too excited. That really helped me focus because as a first-time homebuyer I was just ready and willing to get this over with. Thanks for keeping me in check Alvin! He took us on the tour of the house and pointed out anything he could. Everything he pointed out did not leave any biased feelings about the house, but rather things to look out for. Even when the inspection came back with some little things, he was on it right away. He would tell us that he's going to make sure these things are taken care of before move-in. Alvin kept his word and never left any promises or mentions unfulfilled. Overall, if you're looking for someone who is true to keeping his word and treating you like a person/friend instead of a general customer, then I recommend Alvin. There was never a time where I was skeptical about him. He smiles a lot, he has a respectful demeanor, he's trustworthy, he's not greedy or money-hungry like some other realtors out there who just want to put you in a home right away so they can get that paycheck, and most important he was very communicative. In any friendship/relationship communication is the key! This guy really showed where he needed to be. Another fun thing about Alvin was that we had so many laughs with some of the houses we looked at. I remember seeing an old house with a creepy little door that reminded me of Paranormal Activity. We would laugh about those things which prove to me that Alvin is just a person and not a money-hungry realtor. I can write more about him but this review is already super long. I give you props if you read the whole thing. Thank you, Alvin, for everything. We are settled in and we appreciate everything you've done for us. I also really love my orchid you left for us when we got our keys. I appreciate the welcome gift/card and it really made us feel like a friend of yours rather than a client lol. You have been persistent, honest, and reliable. If you're boss ever sees this they better recognize! Lastly, anyone could be all those things I mentioned, but you outshined people I've come across in your field. P.S. I'm keeping the sold sign for my man cave lol.

Alvin is great. I'd love to work with him again. He knows everything about home buying from start…read moreto finish. He will learn what you like and dislike, then help point that out in the houses. His scheduling is masterful, no matter what he will keep you able to visit houses. We ended up seeing something like 35 - 40 houses in the end and he didn't complain at all while rescheduling everything for me because I ran late most of the time. Great guy, and I enjoyed working with him. The only thing that would've been nice is if he knew the financing process slightly better, but that isn't really his business.

The woman is the office is incompetent unprofessional, unreliable and absurd. They couldn't find my contract or my months of saved credit. They couldn't remember anything about my situation- which was not complicated- despite me calling time and time again to resolve the error THEY made. Since they couldn't find my contract or my credit over 300 dollars worth- I requested that they make sure my items were still in my garage ( I moved cross country and use it as storage). The woman in the office was petty enough to take a picture of the closed garage door, which obviously has no windows, and then email me and say- "I hope this helps you sleep better at night." In what sane world does a picture of a closed door with no view of the items inside give anyone a peace of mind that the items are still there?!? My sister drove three hours round trip that night to make sure my things were still there. They always said they would get right back to me- and they NEVER returned my calls and acted shocked when I called to follow up. It has been OVER a month and I have not received one phone call or email from them except for the snide emails from the woman in the office with the useless pictures. I just called and she had NO idea what I was calling about and told me she would call me right back. I'm still waiting... Excuses, lies and incompetence is all you will get if you move here.
