I didn't have any issues with the Center itself, I had gone a few months ago (mid May) for my first skydiving experience because when I tried to jump last year the weather did not accommodate me well. The food here is very nice, and the jump was nice. However I did receive a few unwelcomed comments ( I will mention one comment later on in this post) from the person I jumped with that kind of did make me feel uneasy, but I didn't say much because I am afraid of confrontation, along with the sexual comments made towards me I wish to disregard. I went with a friend who ended up not jumping because she was having second thoughts, I LOVED the person she was set to jump with. He had doubts about the parachute and had asked my jumper if he thought he should grab a new one for my friend and him, and my jumper said, "Oh no, you'll be fine," when he couldn't feel a hook or some item inside of the bag, my friend also felt very good with her set jumper and he sparked up an enjoyable conversation with us both, and he was super friendly. However, while I was in the air after the jump, the person I jumped with loosened my chest straps and said, "We should let the girls breathe," when he did this my shoulder strap on my left shoulder became lose and went near down to my elbow, when I expressed my worry and said I was fine and able to breathe, and that I would like the strap tighter, he said again, "Oh it'll be fine." I would definitely go again but request not to jump with the person that I jumped with. I believe that he should be able to keep his job he just needs some retraining on professionalism on how to speak with customers regarding comments and needs to be retrained on safety. I wish not to have my face or my jumper's face in any pictures but below I did attach some things from my jump to prove I was an actual customer here. Edit; I believe my friend jumped with Sparky (I don't know for sure I can ask her later) I do not want to disclose who I jumped with because I do believe he could be a nice guy, just some retraining as aforementioned :)

Had an awesome time with Nate! First time skydiving it was an amazing experience, everyone here is very welcoming which made today even more memorable.

My friend and I decided to jump out of a perfectly good plane for our birthdays so we made reservations on Sept 29th. We booked last minute and the only available time slots for a party of two were at 7a and 8a, and then late in the afternoon like 4p. Let me just say this: BOOK AS EARLY AS YOU CAN. Early, as in, take the 7a or 8a time slots! You'll be waiting all day to jump if you don't. Even though we signed up for the 8a class, we were load 7 and I think we jumped right before noon. We arrived at 730a and the girls at the counter were pretty pleasant to us. We watched a short instructional video - which may or may not help: you try and remember a lot of what they tell you but so much adrenaline and so many things go on when you actually jump, you tend to forget 'perfect form'... banana. I'm terrified of heights but to be honest I was excited the entire time. The whole experience was amazing. Buzz was my tandem jumper (it's always his first time!) and Chris was my video/photographer. Both great guys! I ordered videos and photos which I think everybody should buy for their first time. I loved it so much that I put down a deposit to jump again! WAHOO! PS - Look for the free candy at the front counter :)

If I have to be strapped to a dude's chest, I choose Woody.

Did a Living Social deal for CSC and the experience was AMAZING! I can't stress enough how professional, courteous and friendly all of the staff-skydivers were. Everyone was very welcoming and would take time to explain anything about the process to a couple of noobs like me and my girlfriend. Since it was my first time skydiving I bought the still pictures and video package on a jumpdrive and I would highly recommend that option. You will want to see your face on the "exit shot" because that is the moment it gets real! You won't need any skydiving tips from someone like me but you will want to know this: Bring something to do if you go on a weekend. I waited 3 1/2 hours after my appointment time to go. I knew a wait could happen so I brought a good book and it was no big deal. If you buy the picture and video package make sure all of your files are on your discs or flash drives BEFORE you leave. Both my girlfriend's and my video were not on our flash drives and we had to call and email a few times to get them via Drop Box. Not a big deal, we got the files the next day so all is well. Bring a snack. I went in thinking that I didn't want much food in my stomach because of nerves but combine the 2 hour drive from downtown Chicago with the long wait and you'll need some grub. Overall, it was an experience I'll never forget and the positives so overwhelmingly outweigh the negatives that I put down money for my next jump before I left. Thanks to Woody my tandem partner and Monkey my videographer!

Yeah, low cut shirts don't really work for good photos. :)

We celebrated my 120 pound weight loss by skydiving at Skydive Chicago. We were originally…read morescheduled to jump on October 5th, but weather grounded us until the 6th. The morning was bright and sunny. Our group of seven got geared up, and three of us jumped into a plane with our instructors, while the others waited for the next plane. My instructor's name was Adam, and he was scheduled to get married on the following Friday. So he said that jumping with me was the easiest thing he had to do all week! Adam made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. I never felt any fear, even when I was sitting with my legs dangling out of the plane at 13,000 feet. Adam's instructions were clear and concise. I got to pull my own ripcord and steer the parachute for a bit before it was time to land. I want to thank Skydive Chicago (and especially Adam) for an incredible experience. I hope the wedding went well, and I wish Adam and his new wife many years of happiness. I'll skydive again, and I will head back to Skydive Chicago to do it!

At the first stop we saw the dried up I and M canal where the only mention of ghosts was that the workers who died building the canal were buried in the canal. The highlight of this stop was the washroom in the old toll house. Second stop was a tiny graveyard next to a truck weigh station. We saw where Tom's family was buried. Last stop we saw the grave of a Texan who had been killed in the Civil War. There was nothing ghostly about this tour. Either the Ottawa area has nothing to offer in this regard and this tour doesn't need to exist. Or this tour operator should rename this tour. Not sure what I'd call it. As a history buff, I have taken other graveyard tours and they were far more interesting. One tour I took had graveside reenactments of the people buried there. In this case, it's hard to believe they charge $35 per person for so little information. What may be a well meaning venture to promote Ottawa's history was not a ghostly graveyard tour.

I came to Skydive Milwaukee to take Accelerated Freefall (AFF) courses…read more AFF begins with The First Jump Course (FJC). After that course, the student puts on her own parachute and then, accompanied by two instructors, she jumps out of a plane (AFF Level 1) and begins the progression toward complete solo flight. My FJC course lasted 4-5 hours and my instructor was very thorough. She taught me everything I'd need to know for a successful skydive. I didn't just jump into this (no pun intended). My first and only tandem was in 2001, and then I spent 2 years watching my he-pal do this. Once I decided to begin AFF, I spent 3 months sitting at SDMKE's picnic tables, observing instructors and learning "the rules" of this dropzone. I also did my research. This sport, when done mindfully and properly, was one of the safest of "extreme" sports. Maybe you're reading this because you're about to jump tandem, or maybe you're looking for a place to start AFF. Maybe you're in "the zone" and uber confident. I can tell you about my own experience: I was terrified. Regardless of the research I did, or how much I wanted to experience motor-less, human flight, none of that really registered when I was about to throw myself from an airplane. I read a female-skydiver's blog about her journey through AFF. She sounded so confident about each jump--even the ones she had to redo, she was just like, "Yay!" and "Woo hoo!" and "This Rocks!" I felt nothing but terror. Though I was 100% sure this was something I would enjoy (because I enjoyed tandem so much), every single cell in my body screamed, "NOOOOOOO!!!!! Don't do this!!!!" The weather was beautiful that day I finished FJC. The afternoon wind was nice. A good, steady wind is perfect for landing a canopy because you don't come ripping in, you just kind of softly float down, down, down. I wanted the weather to suddenly go bad, for the wind to just get wicked strong... I wished for an upset tummy, but when none of those happened I reluctantly manifested for a flight. RELUCTANTLY. Another AFF student was studying his workbook nearby and so I chatted him up to distract myself from my unrelenting anxiety. His name was Diego, he was a college student at UWM, younger than me by 20 years or so. I told him it was my first AFF jump. My voice was very obviously shaking. And I asked: "Did you feel scared on your first jump?" "Of course!" He said. And I felt so human when he added, "You're jumping out of a plane. It's scary stuff." Within 30 minutes I was ascending to altitude. My two AFF instructors for Level one, Josh and Hooch, coached me through the jump. Several times, Hooch asked how I felt. "Nervous," I replied each time. He gave me the hand signal for 'relax' and said, "Try to have fun." Easier said, you know what I mean? At 13.5K feet, I could feel my blood pumping in my ears. I took deep breaths and visualized a successful jump. At 13.5K feet, the lights to the right of the cabin door changed from red to yellow to green. I watched other skydivers leave. That was the scariest part of the entire jump... watching others seemingly vanish and feeling the airplane lurch from the loss of their weight. When the rest of the skydivers were gone, Hooch took position outside the plane, I crouched in the doorway and Josh was on my right. I looked into their eyes and I saw intense focus. I imagine they've seen everything from naturals to soup sandwiches. It was that moment I realized there was no turning back. Both of these men were gripping the fabric wrapped around my arms, and one of them was hanging outside of the plane. I didn't want to be a soup sandwich. All of my "why's" vanished, and the only WHY that remained was: Why the EFF am I doing this? But I jumped. I think I blacked out for a few seconds from the shock, but once I was focused, I completed the tasks assigned and deployed my pilot chute as directed. The parachute opened happily, I landed, and my instructors said it was a successful skydive. I'm now licensed with close to 200 jumps under my belt. I don't have the terror, but there's still fear and the fear helps me focus. It keeps me alive. And if anyone tells you to relax, cool. If they tell you to smile, give them the finger. We all handle situations differently, and if you skydive with a mean mug, then get "mean mug" stickered to your helmet and OWN IT. Anyway, it's one of the greatest things I've done in my life. It's pushed me physically and mentally, and I'm in love with the personalities I encounter in skydiving, and especially at Skydive Milwaukee. You can ride with the window down and stick your face into the wind or float in one of those fancy iFly tunnels, but there's nothing like this experience. And you can't ask for a better place than Skydive Milwaukee. Good luck! See you out there!
