Got the girls together for a mini road trip; Rochelle, Il here we come. Traffic wasn't too bad, but that one wrong turn added an extra twenty minutes. Good company and great weather for a jump, so no worries. Check in was a breeze; there were so MANY waivers to sign then a quick safety video to watch. Listen for your name to be called over the speakers then meet up in the hanger for rules and harness strapping. If you paid for the photo/video package, get ready for your interview. I signed up to jump 9,000 feet but was told that jump was for babies. 14,000 feet would feel like I really did something. Of course, I am giving a look like "this is my first time". But, I smiled and paid an extra 50$ to do a REAL jump. Up in the air we reviewed the training from the hanger. No time to be scared because everything happened so fast. The view is amazing; jumping through the clouds was priceless. I had an amazing coach; Nate. Ask for him. He's got jokes too. Afterwards, we were starving! They give you FREE beer or wine after your jump. It's a celebration, trust me, if you jump, you earned it. The food was amazing. Looking forward to my next jump. read more

I had total confidence in our instructors (and of course a bit of nerves) but they handled the whole trip like champs and walked us through everything/patiently answered all our questions! We had a windy day and CSC was very adamant about jumper's safety, even holding off flying until it was certain that we were safe to jump. World class DZ. I know I'm spoiled getting my license at another world class DZ, I have been reminded of that often. Chicagoland is truly amazing. Facilities are beautiful, viewing area with volleyball courts, and a restaurant and bar that is recommended by locals as the best place to eat in town. They've got a number of planes, a great area to pack and hang out, and showers, bunks, classrooms, pro shop, events and competitions, courses and workshops, free mentoring for licensed jumpers with less than 100 jumps, the list goes on... The only downside is a small number of rental rigs and a fairly high price per jump. The gear is solid though. Major upside here is the community. Amazing crew of instructors, coaches, office/manifest, and packers. This DZ is friendly to everyone and they extend that beyond DZ operations. People stay after and hang out, grab food and bev and the attached restaurant. I've only been there on two weekends and people know me by name. I will make this a destination DZ in the future whenever I can swing it. read more

I didn't have any issues with the Center itself, I had gone a few months ago (mid May) for my first skydiving experience because when I tried to jump last year the weather did not accommodate me well. The food here is very nice, and the jump was nice. However I did receive a few unwelcomed comments ( I will mention one comment later on in this post) from the person I jumped with that kind of did make me feel uneasy, but I didn't say much because I am afraid of confrontation, along with the sexual comments made towards me I wish to disregard. I went with a friend who ended up not jumping because she was having second thoughts, I LOVED the person she was set to jump with. He had doubts about the parachute and had asked my jumper if he thought he should grab a new one for my friend and him, and my jumper said, "Oh no, you'll be fine," when he couldn't feel a hook or some item inside of the bag, my friend also felt very good with her set jumper and he sparked up an enjoyable conversation with us both, and he was super friendly. However, while I was in the air after the jump, the person I jumped with loosened my chest straps and said, "We should let the girls breathe," when he did this my shoulder strap on my left shoulder became lose and went near down to my elbow, when I expressed my worry and said I was fine and able to breathe, and that I would like the strap tighter, he said again, "Oh it'll be fine." I would definitely go again but request not to jump with the person that I jumped with. I believe that he should be able to keep his job he just needs some retraining on professionalism on how to speak with customers regarding comments and needs to be retrained on safety. I wish not to have my face or my jumper's face in any pictures but below I did attach some things from my jump to prove I was an actual customer here. My friend and I decided to jump out of a perfectly good plane for our birthdays so we made reservations on Sept 29th. We booked last minute and the only available time slots for a party of two were at 7a and 8a, and then late in the afternoon like 4p. Let me just say this: BOOK AS EARLY AS YOU CAN. Early, as in, take the 7a or 8a time slots! You'll be waiting all day to jump if you don't. Even though we signed up for the 8a class, we were load 7 and I think we jumped right before noon. We arrived at 730a and the girls at the counter were pretty pleasant to us. We watched a short instructional video - which may or may not help: you try and remember a lot of what they tell you but so much adrenaline and so many things go on when you actually jump, you tend to forget 'perfect form'... banana. I'm terrified of heights but to be honest I was excited the entire time. The whole experience was amazing. Buzz was my tandem jumper (it's always his first time!) and Chris was my video/photographer. Both great guys! I ordered videos and photos which I think everybody should buy for their first time. I loved it so much that I put down a deposit to jump again! WAHOO! Overall: CSC offers a life-changing experience with class and expertise. I would recommend anyone and everyone to go! The good: Customer experience is top notch. Everyone is super friendly and professional, from the receptionist to the tandem jumpers to the videographers. It made every step of the experience very easy and fun. The jumpers were detailed in all of their instructions. Mine decided to joke with me, which, while it seems cruel, really does help distract the mind and ease the nerves (at least after I got over the initial shock of some of the jokes). And, OF COURSE, the skydiving experience was amazing. The whole time I was screaming with glee, and I felt safe the entire time. The not-so-good: Bring your wallets, because everything is expensive (except the food and drinks). When my daughter wanted to do her first jump, I looked into several Skydiving businesses and decided on Chicagoland Skydiving Center. I reviewed their safety protocols, bios on the instructors etc. CSC facility is clean, organized, welcoming and well stocked for first time jumpers to Level D jumpers. My daughter jumped with Sparky as her instructor and Lou videoing her first jump (always recommend capturing your first experience flying, worth the money). I jumped with Stephen with Haley as my videographer. Stephen was awesome. he explained every step and I felt safe and secure. Haley rocked and got many cool photos/video clips. This wasn't my first jump and it won't be my last with Stephen or CSC. Best adrenaline rush ever! read more

This was my third time skydiving, and it was probably my best experience. We had originally planned to go in May for a friend's 30th birthday, but the weather wasn't good and then we had to keep rescheduling due to schedules, injuries, etc., but we finally made it last weekend! Being able to sign the waivers online ahead of time was nice (though with all the rescheduling we had to do it wasn't clear if we had to keep resigning them, or if the original time was enough). Once we got there we did the check in, etc., watched the waiver video, and then waited around. It was a nice enough day that we could wait outside. They do have a online portal were you can see what load you're in, how long until you jump, etc., although I discovered this via a sign in the bathroom, would've been nice if the girl who checked us in had explained this. We didn't have to wait too long to be called, and once we all met our instructors (we were a group of 4, and 2 also had videographers) the time went by very quickly. My instructor, Chris, was great from start to finish. I never once felt unsafe and he was very clear with all his directions, etc. One of my friends had an instructor who kept messing/joking with him, and while I thought it was funny, I could see how that might freak out a first-timer a little bit. Since it was just our group in the plane, the videographers were able to get some good group shots on the ride up, which was super cool. Once we landed, we each got a certificate which was cool (and of course they mention getting your class A solo license-not gonna lie, I'm a bit tempted!). You also get a wristband for a free beer in the attached restaurant after you jump (separate review of that place forthcoming), which is cool. They also have a shuttle that runs from downtown, which is pretty nice for us city people that don't have cars but still want to jump. Overall, it was an awesome experience and the next time I'm thinking about skydiving I'm definitely going here! read more

Did a Living Social deal for CSC and the experience was AMAZING! I can't stress enough how professional, courteous and friendly all of the staff-skydivers were. Everyone was very welcoming and would take time to explain anything about the process to a couple of noobs like me and my girlfriend. Since it was my first time skydiving I bought the still pictures and video package on a jumpdrive and I would highly recommend that option. You will want to see your face on the "exit shot" because that is the moment it gets real! You won't need any skydiving tips from someone like me but you will want to know this: Bring something to do if you go on a weekend. I waited 3 1/2 hours after my appointment time to go. I knew a wait could happen so I brought a good book and it was no big deal. If you buy the picture and video package make sure all of your files are on your discs or flash drives BEFORE you leave. Both my girlfriend's and my video were not on our flash drives and we had to call and email a few times to get them via Drop Box. Not a big deal, we got the files the next day so all is well. Bring a snack. I went in thinking that I didn't want much food in my stomach because of nerves but combine the 2 hour drive from downtown Chicago with the long wait and you'll need some grub. Overall, it was an experience I'll never forget and the positives so overwhelmingly outweigh the negatives that I put down money for my next jump before I left. Yay Groupon. Boo long waits. Came here on a groupon. We all got videographers and photography (each videographer has a helmet with video and still cameras) so it was another $110+tax a person. Got here at 3, checked in and paid by 3:30, short orientation for 10 minutes, most of which was convincing you to get the video and to upgrade to HD (another 50 bucks). Then the waiting. I guess weekends are always this bad but I bet the groupon made it worst. Some people's waits were over 3 hours long. We were the 2nd to last group of the day so ended up waiting for 2.5 hours from our reservation time of 3PM. They have a decent amount of stuff to do in the waiting area including some comfy couches inside with a TV, and volleyball net, frisbee, and horseshoes outside. There is another TV which is almost constantly playing (edited) videos of the jumps the people just did, so you more or less know what's coming. It's exciting at first, but the downside of waiting is that you get numb to sensations. They also blast an XM 90's hits station nonstop, so bring your own music or earplugs if you can't handle that. When it was finally our turn to get rigged up, it was almost sunset. The girls in the group decided to get jump suits, which are supposedly too hot, but nobody complained. They actually look kind of cool and I wish I had worn less clothes so had an excuse to wear one. The videographer starts interviewing at this point and though you may not realize, he's also taking photos so try not to look too dumb. Finally, the plane is down and we all shuffle in. It's a big claustrophic, and I don't remember if that was one of the 578 things on the waiver, but like I said, a bit numb. When the plane doors finally opened, we shuffled down and assumed the 'position'. You'll know what I mean when you go. Then *boop* and you're out of the plane falling at 120mph. It's exhilarating. Different from anything I've ever experienced. The acceleration only lasts for a few seconds and then after that it's kind of like you're floating, except wind is rushing past you. They encourage you to make ridiculous faces and poses. The one thing they didn't tell me is to keep smiling the whole time, which tenses up your face muscles so they don't flap around like crazy. As a result, I look downright ghoulish for parts of my jump, but whatevers =) The parachuting part is a bit tight on the crotch, not gonna lie. The moment of release deaccelerates you from 120mph to probably 30-40mph almost instantly so it's pretty jarring. After that, they pointed out where Chicago was and where Iowa was! The view is amazing, even of just the farmland below. Sunset was worth the wait in the end. They have you tuck your feet up for landing and I ended up getting my feet down in time to not sit on my butt. One more interview and then it was back to the hangars to check on our videos. I looked ridiculous but it's worth every penny. Protip: Go on a weekday or bring something to do while waiting. Supposedly, rainy days don't mean instant rainout, but they make you wait even longer. Also, I bet there's less of a wait in the mornings, so make the 9AM if you don't feel like waiting around. read more

I had the ULTIMATE pleasure of experiencing my first and second tandem jump out of a perfectly good airplane with Chicagoland Skydiving Center. Let me tell you, what an experience. Luckily, they are the best when it comes to offering Groupon and Livingsocial deals, because (as I've stated in other reviews) I'm a poor college kid. So, thank God for Chicagoland Skydiving which offered me an affordable option to experience the best adrenaline rush everrrr! As others have stated in their reviews, book for the earliest jumps. My first jump was at 12:00 noon, and my friend and I didn't jump until 4:30pm. Fortunately, everyone was nice enough and talked to us to help the time pass. My second jump I booked for 8am. We were out of there by 9:45 am. It was perfect. Overall, this place is legitimate. They have a great staff, good prices, and a nice location to skydive. I had the BEST time with this company. My tandem's were hilarious, and I had such a blast. I would highly recommend this to anyone to wants a cheap thrill & a great experience. :) Oh, and ladies, please don't make the mistake I did by wearing a low cut shirt and jeans on your skydive. I've got to say, it made the pictures somewhat suggestive and the jeans were not comfortable at all! read more

I went skydiving for the first time this past week with a couple friends. I was the only one of my group that hadn't been before and everyone at CSC made the process really easy and were very helpful and reassuring along the way. We went for the 18,000ft dive. My instructor was Klash and he was SO GREAT. Very professional and kept things fun and light. He would check in with me periodically to make sure I was comfortable and helped me be confident when it came time to exit the plane. I got the GoPro video footage since it was my first time and I wanted to remember it and show it to family and friends. I didn't tell my mom I was going beforehand, so being able to show her and see her reaction was priceless. She was so proud of me for having the courage to skydive. The dive itself was so fun! If you're on the fence about going, just do it. You'll be so glad you did. I would totally do it again. read more

CSC gave me an experience and a day I'll NEVER FORGET!!!!!! On Saturday, 5/22/2021, my boyfriend proposed to me after we both completed our first-ever skydive. I had no idea that he had planned all of this with CSC ahead of time, and I was blown away to see a huge sign that read "WILL YOU MARRY ME!" as I landed in the grass. What an unbelievably LIFE-CHANGING day!!!!! I wanted to give special recognition to my tandem instructor, SPARKY, who was friendly, easy-going, and made the jump a lot of fun!!! I also wanted to highlight my amazing videographer, SHANNON, who was full of energy, positivity, and shot amazing videos of me out of the plane. My now fiancé jumped tandem with SCHWARTZY and had his video shot by BLANE, and he raved about how cool they both were. CSC, thank you a million times over for giving my fiancé and I memories for a lifetime & some amazing photos that we'll always cherish. Talk about a life changing experience! I went skydiving at CSC for the very first time, 18,000 feet up and I would do it all over again in a heat beat Cody, my instructor, was second to none. While I did not purchase a photo package, Cody understood that you only jump for your first time once and was nice enough to bring his GoPro camera with in the event I changed my mind and wanted to purchase the photos at a later date. Talk about going out of his way! (shout out to Cody!!) The only critique I could possibly provide is that there was a weather advisory the day of, right around my groups scheduled jump time. Because of this, we were instructed to get in as soon as possible. To confirm, we called and asked that if we showed up early (e.g: Jump time at 6pm, show up at 2pm) would we be next in line to jump, or would we still need to wait until close to our time? We were instructed to come ASAP and that we would jump right away, however, that was not the case. We arrived around 2pm and waited 3 and 1/2 hours to jump, making it 5:30pm right around when we were initially scheduled. Still well worth the wait!! The professional, courteous staff st CSC made us feel very safe. My daughter had never been in an airplane before, let along jumping OUT of an airplane. Her tandem jumper, Chris, was aware of this and did a great job making her feel safe ...and got her more pumped up than she already was. I just wanna fly... Do you remember that song "Fly" from Sugar Ray? If not, here's a brain pick for ya: http://tinyurl.com/5ztbju. As you can tell, it's totally 90's, but this sugary sweet reggae song was what popped into my head this past Saturday when my boyfriend Dave and I used our Groupons (you know when they were having the Holiday tease special) to do our second tandem jumps here. The weather was icky. It was raining and they told us to just to hang on and wait it out. Well we did and right at noon they said it was clear enough for us to jump. Whoo hoo! Kelsey was my instructor this time around and after jumping out, enjoying the free fall, pulling the rip cord, you know all that fun stuff, he let me give the parachute a try. Wow it was a lot harder to maneuver than I thought. He said the solo parachute is alot easier to handle because it's just your weight you have to worry about. I sure hope so, but in the mean time I'm picking up the weights and giving my arms a workout. The second time was just as much fun as the first, actually more so, if that's even possible, all because I knew the drill. This time around I actually looked at my altimeter and got ready to pull the rip cord when Kelsey gave the signal. Plus, I got to maneuver the parachute and on landing I actually stood on my own two feet, so yay big progress there! However, before I sign up for the Free fall University (FU as it's affectionately known as) and do my first solo jump, I think I need at least one or two more tandems to feel comfortable about the next step. Tried it out via Groupon, and was very pleasantly surprised by the experience. Skydiving itself is definitely an experience most people should try at least once, and if you must do it in Chicagoland, this is a decent place to do it. It is easy to find, well-staffed, and obviously sees tons of customers a day. The things I didn't like about it are: 1) We had to sit through a ten-minute "orientation" which was, I deduced, just a way of keeping us distracted while the plane comes back down... and an advertisement for the expensive photo and video services. 2) My instructor was more interested in skydiving himself than in my experience. He didn't come get me until we were almost about to board the plane, and didn't ask any questions. 3) Too much shilling of the photo and video in general. read more

Weeeeeeee! Eeeeeeee! This was my 2nd time skydiving and I am certainly hooked. So the first time I jumped in January, it was in Las Vegas for my birthday. I had pictures, my mom saw, and she wanted to be part of the action. Fast forward to yesterday, my mom and I did the leap. My dad was a great sport, sitting in on the whole orientation, asking questions and such, while my mom and I filled out oodles of forms. My mom and I rode in the same plane and I jumped first and took an amazing twist, keeping my eyes wide open for the whole drop. My instructor, Eric, was super professional and very cool. This drop is worth taking, as you get a nice view of the fields, roads, farms and the quaint Midwest landscape. My mom's video and pictures proved her thoughts on the whole experience. I'm a little late to review: We got a great deal on groupon.com and we were the first plane up on a sunny Tuesday in September. The jump was crazy fun. My instructor was really, really laid back (to the point where I was a little nervous at his nonchalance) and turned out to be an incredible teacher. After I pulled the chute, he showed me how to maneuver the parachute in the air (pull to turn either left or right, spin quickly, and slow down to a silent almost-standstill in the air) and direct us to landing. My boyfriend's instructor took more control over his flight, but he also had an amazing time. As others have said before me, as soon as I hit the ground I was ready to go back up. Needless to say, we are hooked. We stuck around all day to hang out and watch parachutes until the last plane left. ALL of the staff - from the instructors, the camera men, the girls at the desk and the pilot - are amazingly friendly and knowledgeable. We'll be back next year to start solo training! read more

Skydiving was really fun. Instructors and camera guys are all super nice. Only issue I have with this place is the girl who answers the phone (not the girl who has not-so-good English, but the one who's fluent and I believe her mid/late twenties). She works at the front desk and has a mole somewhere on her face (long dark hair). Anyhow, both over the phone and in person, she was completely rude. I'd never been skydiving before, but we decided, "why not," when we saw the Living Social discount. We booked for one weekend and couldn't make it, so we cancelled. They were super cool about it. I was afraid we were going to lose our money. We rescheduled and drove out. The weather wasn't the greatest, and everything was on hold. They told us we could reschedule or wait and see what happens. We waited. I'm so glad we did. The weather cleared up, and they started jumping again. I appreciated that they took safety over money. With that being said, our time slot was at 1:00 and we jumped at about 5:30. Once the weather cleared, they were taking people up faster than I would have imagined. We all jumped tandem. My instructor, Jackson, and my videographer, Marius, were awesome. They told me what I needed to know, kept me calm, and seemed like they were having fun in the process. That was super important; they were having fun! Everything seemed safe, everyone was professional, everyone was having fun, and it was all captured in still photos and video. This was an experience that I'll remember for a lifetime. I'd definitely do it again...which they offered for a discounted price! I don't know of any other company, but this one gets my vote. Skydiving? Oh yes! That's what they do here. I've jumped 3 tandem jumps at CSC and give them nothing but high marks. I tried booking with a different company but their customer service was awful. Back to CSC, they have a perfect flying and diving record and are super professional while maintaining great energy. They know you're pumped and if you aren't they make sure you are. These guys love what they do and it shows. They are fun and super accommodating to whatever the wind throws at them. I've had to reschedule due to weather more than once and each time was super easy. These guys have made every jump a memorable one. Now that I'm up to 3 tandem jumps, it's time to seriously evaluate the certification process. Surprise, surprise, they offer and encourage that. Everyone is SUPER friendly and you can tell that they all like each other. Who wouldn't want to join their skydiving family? The facility is brand spankin' new and is pretty amazing. They tell you not to eat before your jump so it's awesome that they opened up a bar n' grill in the building. The food pricing is a little high but it is tasty and it saves having to go hunting for a spot in the middle of nowhere (because that's where CSC is located). read more

I did the 18,000 feet tandem skydive a couple weeks ago. I had an amazing time and can't wait to go again. My tandem instructor was Dan and my video guy was Sergio. They were both great. You have to do video if you go, it's totally worth it. I'd even ask for Sergio as my video and pics are awesome. I posted a couple pics on the photos section. read more

I've only been to two Skydiving centers ever but this place reigns supreme. During the summer months of 2009, I jumped here 4 times. It's essential to make a reservation but expect to wait anyway. The Sky Dive bums are full of energy, experienced, and just plain awesome. Skydiving is expensive but it gets cheaper as you get more experienced. From what I understand, CSC's school is also top notch. As soon as I can save up some money I plan on enrolling. I can't imagine anything better than a solo jump. read more

Went here for my first skydive - a tandem jump as part of a Groupon deal. It was a amazing experience that I'd recommend to everyone! I was pretty anxious about jumping but once I was out there "flying" in the sky all that went away. The freefall was exciting and the canopy portion was surprisingly serene and a great way to take in the view. The CSC staff was great - a generally enthusiastic group of people. It was a clear, beautiful day and we were scheduled early in the morning so there was almost no wait. I will definitely go back if I get the opportunity. read more

The first thing they told me? "It's a perfectly good airplane." Even their website is www.perfectlygoodairplane.com. What marketers! I got the urge to watch my skydiving dvd today and it inspired me to review. The staff was super friendly, outgoing and made you feel relaxed. Of course they took advantage of my gullibility (for about 5 minutes) and tried to convince me that it was my tandem instructor's first time. What a bunch of hooligans! Jeremy (my tandem instructor) was a bad ass. He really knew his stuff and was my best friend for the day. If you are looking for a place with a great vibe and professional staff who are safety-conscious-- COME TO CSC! Oh and pay the extra 80 bones for a dvd and photos. So this was the year I had to do something outside of my comfort zone at least once a month. Well, this was the second time I jumped from a perfectly good plane at CSC. This outfit is the best of the best. The staff is outstanding and very knowledgeable. After this second jump, I vowed to do the full course. That's right, 18 total jumps. What I like most is the fact that i will be getting the education from this place. This is the real deal folks, and I plan on doing it at a place that understands that. read more
